Not sure where the bad reviews for this place came from, but as a gluten-free and health conscious individual, I thought the doughnuts tasted amazing especially given the nutrient properties of the doughnut. I never eat doughnuts and pastries or sugary foods are not exactly my favorite, but I felt very little guilt eating a couple of these doughnuts. I bought a half-dozen and will probably return if I'm ever in need a a gluten free bread-like food. Lastly, I was greeted warmly and served by an extremely nice individual. It's gluten-free and sugar free and it's delicious. I am allergic to over 200 foods including gluten. FOr those of us with allergies we don't have a lot of options. And right now need to be sugar free. I tried these flavors. They are fluffy and tasty. I loved the sugar, glazed, and key lime. The rest are tasty too. I want them to succeed so I have a donut place to go to :) SO if you are in the area I recommend popping in and try them! I've now met both run the business. Great service. Very warm and authentic. I ordered a dozen (most loved assorted). They shipped on 5/3 and I received on 5/10, even though the package was marked "priority." I believe the long shipping window had a lot to do with the poor quality of the doatnuts. Each doatnut comes in a separate plastic container - this is way too much waste. Also, the containers aren't labeled so I wasn't sure what kind of doatnut it was until I ate it. They were very dry. There was an after-taste to the lemon one, which I didn't like at all. There was no visible frosting on any of them, so it must have melted. If I had the chance to eat them fresh, the experience would probably be much better. I love the idea of a healthier alternative and hope the store front location does well. I believe a new/different shipping method is needed. read more

I really really wanted to like the product. I will say first off best service hands down! I believe it's the owners son he was very patient friendly well mannered. The product, the frosting was very watery texture too soft reminded me of a hot day and leaving chocolate out. I got the birthday cake flavor. The inside was very very moisture I was not a fan of the texture. The flavor was okay I guess but lacked something. The sprinkles on top of the doatnut seemed like it had been sitting on top for a while (again part of that melted texture). 1 doatnut is $3.50 so it is pricey which I understand given it's suppose to be healthier. The owner inboxed me a simple message (which has been nicer than others I've received regarding this business haha) and I figured to update this review because I know my previous one was a bit harsh (I didn't like the claim of 'sugar-free', as I feel it's misleading and that "No refined sugar" is a better term for these things). The other issue I had was that the macros they claim seem a bit skewered. However, I personally don't count calories or use a fitness tracker of any sort, because I understand what a calorie actually is and what ATP is. You wanna chat about FDA regulations with me? I went rounds with an instructor in one of my nutrition classes because she based her class around FDA info... and I don't trust the FDA. At all. I absolutely agree, everyone is so friendly and positive, and I love that! But the donuts themselves...interesting to say the least. The monk fruit was gritty-heavy on the cooling effect, the texture of the donut was that of an over mixed muffin, and the icing was SWEET. Low in calories, really high in carbs...overall bummed out. I didn't open the package until about 5 days later and found inside the package that the doatnuts were to be immediately refrigerated or frozen? Nothing on the exterior of the packaging communicated this, no perishable, no open immediately, refrigeration needed! So my doatnuts tasted and smelled like garbage! Oat donuts are delicious. They are sugar free and use monk fruit sweetener. The red velvet was really tasty. We also tried maple, and love that too. They're baked not fried so no greasy after taste. The staff is friendly and helpful. I'm going to try all the flavors eventually! read more

I am absolutely blown away with these donuts!!! Great store, great branding, wonderful service, nice owner, and the donuts are fantastic. Im really picky with gluten free substitution and Im also on a workout kick lately so I can't have any added sugar. For 30g carbs, 1g fat, 5g protein, 90cal??? Are you kidding?? Fabulous. $7 for two is definitely a little expensive but all gluten free healthy food is expensive so i was surprised it wasn't more. It was moist, not dense (as most gluten free things are), and it melted in my mouth. 10/10 would recommend for a little treat now and then. Thank you Kimy! read more

I've never had a chance to walk in but came on my lunch break, immediately was recognized by Kim; very sweet woman she explained how her doatnuts are made and happily showed me the nutritional facts when I asked. I chose one donut in case I didn't like them and I decided to go with smores since i had a terrible sweet tooth. Lord was i blown away; her 90 calorie donut tasted like a normal 300 calorie donut. I absolutely LOVE to support a small business but I don't think I'd call this family small lol. It's also a woman owned business too. She's killing it!! These are some absolutely delicious creations. You could tell she truly puts her heart and soul into these donuts. Plus I have to say as someone who has diabetes and can't normally can't enjoy traditional donuts. It's great there's a sugar free AMAZING treat I can enjoy. These with a ice cold glass of milk or when I want to sin my soul.. Rite Aid butter pecan ice cream with the coffee or mint n chip crumbles of the triple chocolate OMFG YES!! Definitely can see this in multiple locations in Southern California cause of what they offer, the quality, the care of the product and I think they would do great in Del Mar or La Jolla. Now I want to make this clear this isn't your traditional describe these lite, fluffy, not overly sweet but right and honestly they a piece of little heaven. I normally went to go get 1-2 but cause I was in a good I got some for my coworkers. They absolutely enjoyed them and they were like.. so when are you going to bring more in? From reading the other reviews, it seems like you either love 'em or you don't. We didn't. I was hoping these would be a healthy treat for my young kids who have barely ever had donuts and they were not impressed. They took a few bites and that was it - at $3.50 a piece, not what I wanted to see. There was a weird taste to the frosting on the chocolate with sprinkles and the monk fruit gave them a strange sweetness. If you don't eat sugar, these would probably be a good option. Someone had posted that these are a vegan option- note that the box shows that they contain egg whites. And if you are gluten-free, there is another boutique donut shop in Carlsbad Village that has tastier options. Overall, it's worth a try to see which Doatnut camp you fall into. read more

Just going to start with the obvious.. the store is PINK. Extremely, overwhelmingly, Barbie colored pink. Ambiance = pink, aura = pink. Don't go in if you're not a pink fan. Pink pink pink. The doatnuts themselves were intriguing. They are sweet in a non typical sweet way. Healthier option to sweetness. Which I enjoyed, would recommend that you try these with NO expectations. I think often people are unfair in reviews and the shop itself suffers bc people go in with unfair expectations of what it should be .. if you try these not expecting anything in particular you will be surprised! I definitely was. I'm not sure if I'll return at 3.50$ a piece but it was nice to try. After coming off a 30 pound weight loss, I decided to try these Doatnuts. The staff was friendly and informative. I chose the strawberry shortcake donut and red velvet with a box of milk to go. These really hit the spot with only 90 calories each and zero sugar. It is sweetened with all natural monk fruit sweetener that has all the taste but none of the calories or inflammatory effects of sugar. I had him box every single flavor, and they all taste the same, terrible menthol flavor from the munk fruit sweetener and overly sweetened. The dough is spongy and weird and cardboard tasting. The sugar drizzle on top and or frosting is too crunchy crispy, plain sugar tasting with no flavor. They aren't fresh. The emoyee told me they pre-free them before putting them in the case for preservative reasons. All 5 of my co-workers spit them out. And its $49 for a dozen!!!! I'm sorry. These were horrible. A friend sent us a box of the coffee cake donuts, which was really sweet of her because my husband has celiac disease. First of all, the excess packaging is off-putting. Six donuts came in a pretty pink box but each donut was packaged in a heavy plastic container inside. And I don't know if they were put away warm, or what, but the donuts were all kind of wet and slimy on top. And bottom line...they tasted terrible!
