I loved the vibes and and decor of this restaurant! The owners are super nice and welcoming and were amazing at introducing all of the food items. Very attentive service too! Food-wise everything was super photogenic and tasty! Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely persian restaurant in Mclean. Our Server Cyrus was great and always efficient, happy and polite. He truly cared about our experience. The drinks we had were esfahan, persiapolitan, tehrattan. They were all great and we had double orders on tehrattan. The food was absolutely amazing - the crispy rice with tahdig they serve is so good, everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Lamb chops shandiz, Chenjeh, kashke bademjan, mirza ghasemi were absolutely tasty, The koobideh was a little dry though, I just put it so they could improve. For dessert we had tiramisu, chocolate hazelnut torte and traditional saffron ice cream with faloodeh, it was amazing. Overall fantastic. While there are a lot of great Persian kabob places around Tyson's, this one is a cut above the rest. It's an actual upscale restaurant with a full bar and the food is pretty good. The best part is obviously the tahdig, it puts the other places to shame. While 90% of the menu is Persian food, there were a few items I spotted here and there that seemed a little out of place like the grilled octopus (was great by the way). There's plenty of seating but it does get packed on the weekends so you'll definitely need a reservation otherwise you will deal with wait times. I am a foodie and do love to try new places. We decided to check out Divan that opened a year ago. The place has a lot of parking places nearby so you can easily bring your car. We were met by a person who showed us to our table. Who maybe can smile next time and it least show that he likes his job. Apart from that, the ambiance was great. The interior decoration and colors really gave the restaurant a good atmosphere to lunch in. The place started to fill up, as we were served by a very kind, knowledgeable and attentive waiter. We went for all of what he recommended. We had Mezza combo, Mediterranean salad and fish shehikampoor? In addition non alcoholic mocktails. The food and the drinks tasted great. The fish was baked too much so it was a bit dry, but the rest was good recommendations. My wife did a date night after work on a Friday night, and I could not have been more excited. We started with the combo platter, where we got to choose three appetizers, and I loved this because I always needed help picking just one. We got the Zaytoon Parvardeh (marinated olives), Kashke Bademjan (Eggplant & Whey Dip), and Panir Sabzi Wrap). We got the olives for my wife, but the other two dishes were flavorful. The trout I got was delicious enough for more than one meal. The best part was that it still tasted great the day after. Great date night spot with equally fantastic food. read more

Came here with the fam for a Christmas Eve Eve dinner. Plenty of parking. When we entered, there was a buzz of families and couples chatting with very festive vibes. There is a cozy fireplace and the ledges around the restaurant were lined with poinsettias. Service was super knowledgeable- our server was Cyrus and he was wonderful. The tehran manhattan was very tasty, my favorite cocktail from the table. My mom's caspian punch was also super refreshing and tasty. I liked my scotch punch, but the pine was very strong- I preferred the others but sipped mine happily. The octopus was out of this world. So tender, and slightly smoked. We also got the eggplant and whey dip *chefs kiss*. The bread to pair was amazing and the olive tapenade was fantastic. We also got the frittata, which was tasty but not quite as mind blowing as the other starters. Super yum yogurt sauce with the frittata. We got lamb shank and stuffed trout for entrees. The stuffed trout had this slightly raisiny tasting filling that was unexpected and totally worked. One of the most unique things I've tried in a while and would go back to the restaurant just for that. The lamb shank my parents had gotten before and was delicious falling off the bone. The rice that comes with entrees is out of this world- so cool. Crunchy on the top with spices and oil with herbed rice underneath. For dessert we got hazelnut chocolate cake and the affogado with rose syrup. The cake was devoured in about 30seconds. The affogado was surprising bc I didn't realize there was rose water in it so I was confused on the taste. The consistency of the ice cream was more like vegan ice cream I've tried but not in a bad way. It was definitely tasty but not like anything I've tried before. All in all 9/10 food and 10/10 when taking into account service and ambiance. Will be back! read more

The restaurant is nicely laid out & spacious. During a Friday lunch the service was attentive with water glasses & the complimentary barbari bread basket refilled regularly. The food was excellent and beautifully plated. Our table had the Barg with rice & tahdig (which wasn't burnt or too hard, as it sometimes is at other Iranian restaurants), Kofteh Tabrizi, Nast-o Khiar, Mirza Qasemi, Faloodeh Shirazi, & the Persian Cream Puff. A nice Mediterranean style restaurant located in the heart of McLean. Comfortable and clean this open air restaurant is a bit loud during peak dining times. The menu is incredibly unique and the food delicious and fresh. The service was fantastic. The owner did a quick check in which was nice. Two downsides in MY opinion - the loudness factor and the wine list. They are clearly appealing to people who are willing to spend $70++ on a bottle. Very few, maybe 2 options, in a reasonable range. I hope they improve this because I lived the good but have a hard time spending THAT much on a bottle of slightly above average wine. read more

What a treat. Our Persian friends invited us to join them for dinner at Divan. Service was personable and quick. Food was excellently prepared. We started with three appetizers to share: yogurt and shallot dip, smoked eggplant dip, and Persian herb frittata served with bread, walnuts and cheese. All very tasty, I even liked the smoked eggplant dip (and I usually don't care for eggplant anything). Dinner was herb and beef stew, braised lamb shank, duck with walnut and pomegranate stew, and a beef and eggplant stew with rice and rice with fava beans on the side. Everyone enjoyed the dinner. Our hosts said the food was prepared in the Northern Iranian style. My favorite dish was the herb and beef stew, with the duck dish a close second. Once again I even like the dish with eggplant. We met at 6:30 pm for dinner and the place was a third full. Our host told us that Persians usually eat dinner later. Sure enough, when we were finishing up, just before 8:00 pm the restaurant was full. Only one table for four was empty, but people were coming in as we went out. The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing and the staff is very welcoming. Although a bit too overbearing as they checked up on us close to 10 times. I enjoyed the presentation of the food as well, however the lamb chops were a disappointment. It had too gamey of a smell as if it was not fresh and the taste was not flavorful. I only had 1/4 of the chops and usually I love eating lamb. The restaurant is on the pricier side and the food isn't always worth it depending on what you get. I wish I tried a different item on the menu as there were some other enticing options. The dinner process itself felt rushed and we were handed boxes not even an hour into getting seated. I wouldn't call it an awful experience but I certainly wouldn't want to repeat it again either. read more

Oh man, we were supposed to be going to the thai food next door but looked thru the window of Divan and found it so beautiful so we walked in. Such nice ambiance, the service was fast, attentive , the restaurant was super clean. The food didn't not only taste amazing but was in great portion too. The owner also gave us some spicy chutney sauce on the side, he was super sweet. The complimentary bread was also super super super yummy!! What a pleasant surprise. Would def come back! read more

We went there for a 70th birthday celebration and the food was amazing. I had the lamb chops which were delicious! The rice which comes with every meal had a saffron crust on top which was very good! Food Ordered: Appetizers: Cauliflower, Egg Plant sauce, cucumber-mint sauce (I forgot the official names) Dinner: Roasted Lamb Shank Ambiance: This place is very nice inside, let me start by saying the Hostess was soooo nice and pleasant, she found our reservations and she saw we were celebrating an anniversary so she brought over 2 Non-Alcoholic wines (sparkling wine) my wife and I don't drink. They tasted amazing. Service (5 Stars) our waiter Raheem was great, he gave us great recommendations on what to try and was a funny gentleman. We had about 5 people stop by the table wishing us a Happy Anniversary and making sure we were ok and everything was good. This place made us feel special! Food (5 Stars) my lamb shank was fall off the bone good! The appetizers were all good and full of FLAVOR! I highly recommend this place and I will be back! Was not happy with my experience here. I ordered the shrimp which mentioned '4 large shrimp' from the appetizer section (it was for $20) since i was there for a friends birthday and then was heading to a family dinner after where I was probably going to eat more so I did not want to stuff myself. When the food came, i saw that the size of the shrimp was the same as the Costco ones where u get a huge bag (quantity around 15-20) for $12 approximately. So, I asked them if I could get something else from the menu instead of this since the food didnt match it's description. At first, the waiter took the food away and I ordered the lamb shank. The waiter said he would talk to the management but then came back and rudely put the food back on the table saying they told me to send it back out. Then, the manager came and said the food has already been prepared and we cannot take it back, so I asked the waiter to cancel my lamb shank order. Mind you, this was all happening while i was sitting on a big table with a lot of friends, most of whom were acquaintances so this was very embarassing. When I said I want to cancel the lamb shank, another manager came out and the situation was getting to be more and more embarassing but he said I am sorry the food will be thrown out we cannot take it and then he just picked up the plate without me asking as i was eating the shrimp. At this point, they had given me the lamb shank as well and I was confused whether I would have to pay $60 or not? If you're going to charge $20 for four shrimp, at least make sure they're actually "large" like you claim. Overall, really disappointing service and communication. I won't be returning. read more

We got a combination appetizer of the olives, hummus and eggplant. It all tasted great. The bread they brought out was also delicious, warm and well seasoned. It came with a flavored butter and olive tapenade - both delicious. I got the koobideh kabob which tasted great - it was cooked and seasoned well, moist and flavorful. The rice it comes with it was solid - could've been seasoned a bit better, but overall ok. The presentation was beautiful and portions were great. We had the chocolate torte for dessert which tasted great. The only suggestion I have would be to add a few more options for appetizers - I would've loved a bit more options and variety. A beautiful restaurant inside! Looks like it belongs in dc more so than nova. Definitely a locals place, full of middle eastern people who all knew the owner who is so kind himself. Packed on a Friday evening!! Food was totally outstanding. The bread is to die for - fluffy but crunchy and so flavorful. The hummus was fresh and silky. The chicken kabobs were hands down some of the best I've had in nova - soooo tender and flavorful! Not dry at all like some. I also tried a bite of the pomegranate chicken which was so tender and fell off the bone but a little too sweet for me. Loved the rice with the crispy top! Also delicious. A dear friend invited us to this place, even though I cautioned her against it since I had a bad experience , she said the location is good. Two of us ordered Kabob Torsh. When the food arrived, my friend, asked to change her food as it was so hard that the fork would not go through the meat, and the knife wouldn't cut the meat. The manager came in instead of apologizing, he raised his voice  and rudely said "next time you do not order this food". Little does he know, there is not a next time, as the 15 of us will ever go back to such a place. He further explained that due to the food preparation with the pomegranate sauce, it becomes hard. We disagreed with him by saying this one was much softer during the last visit . The rest of the guests were mostly unhappy with the food, but they kept it quiet because of our lovely host, although they did whisper to each other about their dissatisfaction. I ordered the Fesenjoon and white rice to go, since the service was slow, and I had to go back to work. The waiter who was nice handed me a paper bag with two aluminum containers of the food. I placed it on my front seat and put my leather purse next to it, and when I arrived to my office, which was just three minutes away, the bag which evidently was soaked with the juice of stew, suddenly ripped open. I then noticed that they have put those thin, flimsy containers upside down and let alone, they did not use a secure cover. My entire office was full of food, as it splashed all over the entrance. Then, I noticed that they have mixed and matched the two rices together. One returned one was Baghali polo, the other was white! No one serves Baghali polo with that stew. I went back to my car to inspect the car and I noticed they were oily brown stains on the beige leather of my car and my purse. The stuff also splashed on my shoe and on my white dress. To make matters worse in five minutes, I had to see patients with this attire, and had to work in slippers since my shoes got ruined.  I called the manager he asked for the proof, sent him pictures. He sent me a text with apology which stated that this was not intentional an accident can happen. Among all those damage, he asked me to take the car to car wash and give me the receipt! I told them it's against my principal to accept restoration or demand restoration. Anyways, the damage can not be fixed with a car wash solely, as it's also thousands of dollars on my shoes, purse and the car and the dress. ( I won't mention the brand.) I asked him not to charge my dear host. Evidently, he apologized to her and the others. The host asked him to call me in person and apologize, which he texted me, but I was working. I texted him that I will call you later . I called him back. He hasn't responded. My husband and I decided to drop in on a Saturday night simply because Persian/Mediterranean food sounded good.
