There you have it folks...a moving company who's "Operations Manager" will shamelessly call you difficult when you ask them to protect your belongings, and then play the race card when you approach them with a complaint. In fact, dear Yelpers, I had no contact with Corey until after the move. On the day of service I provided the movers with a credit card that they were not able to process and said the office would be in touch. I figured I could properly convey my experience with whoever it would be at District Relocators that would be processing my payment. That person turned out to be Corey, and now everyone in the world can see in full display what a sham he and this company are. Corey recognized who I was from the outset and called me immediately following my first post to Yelp - but he didn't call to listen...he called because he is a glorified bill collector and a bully that said he was sending the police to my apartment to collect payment. And just like Corey turned to the police without bothering to have a proper conversation, Corey ran to report me to Yelp as an imposter. It's exactly this attitude that permeates the company and so I'm not surprised his loyal goons behave the way they do - they have a chief in Corey who will not only tolerate the BS, but who is obviously the source of it all. When you have someone like Corey as an "Operations Manager", everyone at the organization including the moving crew will think it's okay to put their own needs and comforts and gripes before living up to obligations, as well as basic personal and business ethics. What Corey and his band of troublemakers fail to recognize as a primary tenet of being a good moving service provider is that they are entering people's homes and handling all their worldly possessions. Whereas they collected $400 taking me on as a client, they caused far more than $400 in damages to my property, and did so with such glee. Items that were paid for with my hard earned money over many years were ruined right before my eyes, and the crew literally laughed at me while I pleaded with them to stop, showing great joy in my frustration. I have no doubt there are many others that were dissatisfied with their move but too busy or too afraid to speak up. I'm not afraid of bullies like Corey, and I'm happy to leave this exchange up for the world to see what a sham he and his company are. read more

Value for Price: I took advantage of the weekday promo so I received $50 off the normal price. My move was completed within the quoted 3 hours so there were no unexpected costs, I paid exactly what was quoted (+ top obviously since they did a great job). Speed: The guys called when they were ~30 mins away, showed up a few mins earlier than the quoted time, and although I was expecting 3 movers, 4 came which made the move especially efficient and completed within 3 hrs! Moving Team: They took great care with my items- wrapping, loading/unloading with care, and even heard me out when I was being particular about some stuff lol. The three-person team -- Greg, Jay, and Chris -- that helped me move today was excellent. They were professional, friendly, efficient, and careful with all my belongings. I really appreciated that they were organized (no waiting around while the paperwork was filled out) and communicative (phone calls en route with accurate ETAs). Extra points for taking all the wrapping, tape, etc. with them when they left so I didn't have to deal with it. Setting up the move ahead of time with Linda over the phone was also super easy and stress-free. The rate was transparent (I paid exactly what I was quoted) and competitive for the area (I shopped around a bit). It would have been more expensive for me to rent my own truck and just hire some guys to help with the lifting. Going with District Relocators was an easy decision and thankfully also the right one. We recently moved a full large 2 BR 1.5 Bathroom. It took them 3h total which is fast. They did a fast and good job, despite boxes not being well balanced and sometimes too heavy. The price was competitive, with no hidden fees. Actually, the opposite of hidden fees: I expected 4 movers, but 7 came, which helped speed up the work. No extra charge for this. I want to give a higher rating because I did truly like my movers, and the owner was extremely accommodating and accessible via text whenever I had a question prior to the move. Overall though, I can't classify this as an exemplary experience. Good: ~ They were friendly and they went fast. ~ While this was my first time using a moving company so I don't really have a benchmark, $660 for packing up and moving literally everything we own (our apartment was a filthy disaster and we'd done pretty much nothing) seemed reasonable. Bad: ~ Blasting music and rapping to it in my kitchen. I wouldn't have even minded if they had ASKED if I minded. I know you're doing a boring and unpleasant job and I probably seemed chill because I am, but I'm just trying to be helpful in pointing out: you're still in someone else's home. You shouldn't assume you can just do whatever you want. This also goes for using the bathroom and leaving the toilet seat up. ~ We had told them we had boxes, so they didn't bring any extras. Whyyy wouldn't a moving company have the foresight to bring backups in case the client doesn't have enough? Apparently the fifteen large boxes we did have were, in fact, not enough, so one of the movers called their manager asking if they could get into the storage unit to get more. After hanging up the phone, the mover recounted the conversation by telling me "he's not even in a hurry because you said you had boxes." Wait, seriously? I had to give them cash so they could go buy more at Home Depot. After returning with my change, they did not furnish the receipt. Again, this is just one of those courtesy things. I don't believe you kept my money, but whyyy wouldn't you have saved the receipt and given it to me as a gesture. ~ Towards the end, they got sloppy and started missing things. Like our shower curtain. Our coat hangers. Things that clearly needed to come with us. I had to start going through the apartment myself and rounding up the stuff they'd forgotten. ~ One guy made an actual attempt to label the boxes, but the other two didn't. Come on guys, that's moving 101. Again, whyyy. I wouldn't NOT recommend. With some help, they got the job done. It just wasn't a four or a five. read more

I HIGHLY recommend using District Relocators, specifically the movers Chris, Wayne, and Darryl. The company was quick to respond to my inquiry and they offered the most affordable price ($375) for a 3 hour move with 3 very strong, capable, and efficient movers. In comparison, I know someone who used a different mover and was charged close to $500 for 3 hours with only 2 men and that mover was the affordable option my friend found. Also, a piece of furniture was damaged during the moving/disassembly/reassembly process with that other mover. I spent less and all of my furniture and belongings arrived safely. Be smart and go with District Relocators. Save money and your furniture. I worked with Tony to set a date and time. Tony was nice, personable, and efficient. The company did not have a truck available when I originally wanted to move so he worked with me to find another day and time that would work for me. Wow, these guys are amazing! 1. We sent a request for quote and we had very reasonable estimate provided. All the details are spelled out in the quote unlike other moving companies. Since we had a 1 bedroom 900sq ft and we're moving 0.8 miles, it would generally cost ($350) for 3 movers over 3 hours. That includes fuel and other typical charges, as well as a $50 discount. 2. They had availability for our date but were pending a DC parking permit application so could lock down a date for 2 weeks. By the time we had it, the evening spot was available so we booked it. No deposit required. They would arrive any time between 1-3pm and call when here. 3. At 1:30pm we had 4 movers arrive and they promptly parked in our reserved spots and started unloading all their supplies. It took about 5 minutes and they are a hard working bunch with an assembly line style. Super efficient! When I walked up to the apartment with one of the movers we first sat down to review the estimate. There are additional charges if time exceeded 3 hours and there were stairs. As we did not have expensive pieces, we just used the free insurance at $.60/lb. We were impressed by Derrick Dave Chris and Lillay. I basically sat on the sofa and used my phone for the 2 hours it took them to move everything out. They retaped anything that looked questionable. They disassembled and assembled our bed. They carefully moved all ten of our large art pieces! 4. Upon meeting us at our new location, they assessed the setup. I actually forgot there were 4 stairs instead of a ramp and that the door was very narrow. Nonetheless, they moved everything quickly in about 1.5 hours! As boxes and items were brought up, they would ask me where the boxes belonged. In the Future, I would Label these on all the boxes. I was actually able to start unpacking while they brought things up. Ultimately our table didn't fit in the loading dock door, but they managed to get it in the front door. 5. At the ends, they reviewed costs. I paid chef to avoid a 3% credit card fee. With 3.5 hours and some stairs our adjusted cost was $450. It was a great deal and amazing service. This was my first experience having movers and I honestly don't think I'd go anywhere else for future moving needs. Akeam, Shawn and Omar were extremely professional, nice, efficient and fast. They had me out of my old place and into my new one in no time! I was so impressed. It even started raining in the middle of the move and they did not miss a beat. Moved from an apartment on H Street to a 3 story row house in Petworth during quarantine. Derrick, Jay and James J were quick, careful, and considerate of our belongings. It wasn't easy getting the bed up the narrow stairway, or the sofa to the basement, but they pulled it off. It went about as smoothly as you would expect. No glass or bottles broken, no major signs of damage to anything, and no scuff marks on the walls. They wore gloves and masks as well. Wow!! I just closed on my first home on Wednesday and these guys moved me in today. They did such a fantastic job, arrived early and were so kind and positive. Treated my things with care and arranged my furniture exactly as I wanted. When they first arrived one of the guys said "we're here to make your day a little easier"- they went so above and beyond in doing this. Moving ~ 6 years of stuff on my own out of my apartment was not exactly something I was excited to do, but they made it so much more than bearable. I will also say that Linda was a real joy to work with in scheduling- my closing date was a little bit uncertain at first and she reassured me that we could be flexible, even saying that she would keep note of the days I was thinking of and let me know if anyone else tried to schedule. These were one of the worst moving companies I've experienced. At first, upon contacting them, they scheduled a call to identify the furniture they would need to move for us to figure out the size of the moving vehicle. Afterwards it went downhill. First, they were late for the pickup. Then they did not bring a big enough moving vehicle so they forced us to choose what furniture we would leave behind. We were forced to leave behind a outdoor toddler playset and a few pieces of furniture. Then, during delivery they bent and/or broke a few pieces of the furniture when moving it into the new house. In the end, I would not recommend these movers to anyone else. read more

I didn't have a ton of things, just studio apartment furniture and a small number of bins, and this was a first-floor to first-floor move, but I was nonetheless astonished at how fast and efficient the three movers were! Everything was done in just an hour and a half and I could get on with my day! I recommend getting a first-thing in the morning time slot if possible because the arrival time can be more accurate. They got to my starting point a lot earlier than I expected. Luckily it wasn't a problem, but it seems the arrival time for afternoon moves is a huge time range. I really don't understand the 5 ratings, almost seems like friends and family. Total ripoff and rude owner, rude workers,l. They act like they are doing you a favor. They give u a quote but beware, they will charge you double, and you are on the spot as to what to do last minute, because at that point you don't have a choice. However, there were some things damaged. Additionally, had issues with the move coordinator. While he was responsive and that is appreciated, he came across as very condescending on a number of occasions and also failed to send in the required insurance paperwork in time in spite of multiple reminders to send and when payment was made was made on the first move day. This caused delays and added stress to the move for everyone. Having done over a dozen moves, including several cross country, this company is one I may not recommend for the coordination itself, but would recommend them for the movers itself, for their professionalism, time and value. read more

Today District Relocators did a local move for me. They sent a 5 man crew Greg, Lamont, Breon, Kendall and Andre. The guys were were friendly and fast. They quickly gathered the items from my storage unit moved, proceed the my old home gather all the boxes and furniture and moved me into my new home. They didn't complain about the my 4th floor loft, especially when the coach I purchased was too big to make not up stairs. They tried several ways then finally they took off the covering on the light to make extra room. I impressed with the dedication. But what impressed me the most was their integrity, when I went back to collect some small items for my old home I found two dollars that must had fallen behind my sons dresser. We used District Relocators to move from Stafford, VA to Alexandria, VA. They were a little late due to traffic, but they were fast & efficient. Three men were sent to move a 1 bedroom (with office) apartment into a 2 bedroom condo. While I did notice some dents on the furniture and marks on the walls from the move, these imperfections were not super obvious. And in these small spaces, it is almost expected. The knock-down and set-up of furniture was done quickly. I had searched and contacted many of the highly-rated movers on Yelp, only to get no response or that they were all booked for the next 30-40 days. While I was still unsure about District Relocators due to the Yelp reviews, am glad I went with them. They were friendly and responsive, as well as priced right. While nothing will compare to military movers (amazing), I would use this company again. read more
