I have only good things to say about District Landscapes, and Sean, its proprietor. We hired them to redo the small tiered garden outside in front of our townhouse--redoing the tiers and rebuilding the stone retaining walls for each, taking out pretty much all the old (suffering) plants, and planting new and different plants, more suitable to the shady conditions. They did a great job with all of that, for a very reasonable price. Sean did his initial "visit" with us by Zoom, which was a little unusual but worked just fine. And everything after that was great--good communication, reliable scheduling, adaptability in the face of an unforeseen problem, and good work. We're very glad we chose them. read more

He's easy to communicate with, sets clear timelines, shows up when he says he will, has very fair and transparent pricing, and does excellent work. Our yard always looks amazing when he's done. I would not recommend this company. I used their services some years ago and was satisfied with the work. I thought it would be great to reach out again and inquire into becoming a repeat customer. I make it a point to support small businesses. The zoom meeting was highly disappointing as the owner now charges two hundred dollars per hour and does not provide the mulch. He also has a required minimum of two hours. Considering how small the front yards are in the District (including mine) this pricing is ridiculous. If you are looking for reasonable prices I would save yourself some time and look elsewhere. read more

When we bought our house, I had dreams of creating a luscious yard for our baby to play in. Rhassan and District Landscapes are my landscapers for life. Rhassan was so responsive and punctual from beginning to end. I had no vision for my front mulching bed and Rhassan came up with a design I completely love--I've gotten many compliments from my neighbors. Rhassan is very meticulous and it shows in his work. I also appreciated that he talked me out of doing work on my backyard, until I am sure on my long term vision, to save me money now and in the future. Additionally Rhassan pointed out a small vine that was wrapping around my fence and removed it for me, at no cost, to save me pain from a recent spi injury(which he picked up on from listening intently). Rhassan communicated effectively, showed up on time, and did a wonderful job landscaping the front yard of our townhome. We had soil problems that caused two of our bushes to die. Rhassan was able to diagnose the problem, offer a plan for remediation, and implement the plan using drought resistant laurel bushes and backfilling with organic soil. read more

After years of our yard getting worse and worse, becoming little more than weeds, we finally looked for some help. I'm really glad we found Rhassan, as his work lived up to all the great reviews. He removed all the weeds--even going above and beyond in taking care of some areas that weren't part of the yard space. Working with Sean was a pleasure, and the results speak for themselves (I'm going to upload pictures). We have a beautiful new lawn that he absolutely transformed. I think I contacted him just ahead of the spring wave of quote requests by a couple weeks (plan ahead, people!), and we hired Sean basically on the spot which something my wife and I almost never do. We just got a good vibe from Sean and didn't feel the need to get any quotes after that. He's kind, polite, patient, knowledgeable, and he listened. After working with Sean the past couple weeks, and being so happy with his work, it's easy to see that he puts a lot of effort and love in his work and he cares about the finished product and customer follow-up. In terms of the process, Sean met us early on a Saturday morning to view our property, we had a quote from him by Monday morning, and he was on the job by the next weekend, going to the stone yard to pick out stepping stones for our walkway and sending us pictures and talking on the phone before the final purchase was made. He then cleaned our entire 12ft by 14ft space by hand of all the rocks, weeds, and construction debris, then set the down the stones and laid topsoil. The next day, he brought in the freshest looking sod I've ever seen. Fresh-cut that day from a local sod farm and grown in real dirt. Not a yellow blade to be seen. The whole thing was no drama, just hard work and a beautiful result. Of course a guy like Sean is going to book up in April and May, and he has to factor in his costs. That's just common sense, and yeah, sometimes a guy running a local landscaping business can't be everything to everyone. The point is, if you plan ahead, or have a little patience in the high season, Sean will do right by you and provide quality service. read more
