Outstanding service. Great communications and went above and beyond expectations. Thanks so much, TJ!

Tj did a great job! I was initially trying to get grass growing in my shaded patch with two vigorous dogs, and he was willing to do it, but told me it wouldn't last and gave me good advice to go with mulch instead (which was also cheaper). Final product looks great and the dogs are happy. read more

We had an excellent experience working with TJ and his crew to install new sod in our backyard. The process was incredibly fast -- he was out doing the work within a week of our free estimate -- and his prices were very reasonable. Afterwards, he came by to water it himself and sent over some tips about managing the grass in the first week. Our yard, which was previously a mud pit, looks great! All in all, a great experience at a very fair price. read more

TJ Allen graded our yard and put sod down over 400 square feet by himself in a day. It looks great. He was professional and courteous.

Tony was very friendly and responsive. He met my lawn service needs at the best pricing I could ask for in the area.

Highly recommend! We reached out to a number of different providers, and Neighborly Lawns was the most affordable and best catered to our needs. Great service! read more

Hired TJ for a spring cleaning of our yard and he was great! Did exactly what he said he would do and gave me some advice a long the way. Thorough, trust worthy, and a good price. Definitely recommend. read more

TJ came to our house to do a free consultation and spent a significant amount of time walking me through all the issues in our yards and answering random questions I had about my plants. He was so knowledgeable! So we hired him right away and he did a fantastic job on our yards! Some reviews discuss his lack of responsiveness to emails, which is something we encountered. But I just emailed him a reminder email and he responded! So you may have to be a bit persistent but it is SO WORTH IT. He came out himself to do the job and charged a very fair rate. Would highly recommend! read more

We recently began working with Neighborly Lawns and could not be happier with their services. Today they cut our grass in addition to cleaning up our flower beds, weeding, and even removing litter that had come into our property -- all for a fair price. read more

TJ did a phenomenal job pruning the shrubs in front of our home and removing vines and other trees. He went above and beyond and our yarf is completely transformed for the better. We cannot thank him enough and we would highly recommend him for any job. read more

Originally contacted Sept 2017 for help with crabgrass taking over the lawn and dying grass. Consultation recommended aerating, thatch removal, weed kill and fertilizer, seeding, and top dressing for $250, so be it we accepted. From initial contact to service performance was Sept 7th to Sept 25, a little slow but not really an issue. Followed watering and care advice but it wasn't very specific, had to follow up the end of Oct to find out next steps because almost none of the seed was growing. Took a few emails and 10 days of waiting as it had "slid off his mind" to get acknowledgment. After another visit, he reseeded and said it was a combination of too much watering and birds eating the seed, this time he added straw as well. By this point, it was Oct 30 so we would have to wait till next spring for results. Come next Spring (now) and still none of the grass seed has taken. I followed up with Tj to ask if he can please help fix the situation and his response was that there is no guarantee on growing grass seed and to offer me sod at 50% off. Even mentioned our last correspondence was October as if that was somehow my fault, was I suppose to send him updates over the winter? Take it for what it's worth, that was my experience. The crab grass is gone so that was a win but for $250 I was hoping for a lot more. Update 5/31/18: Received a 50% refund for my troubles. read more

They did a good job fixing lumber around my garden. Simple job. I tried to give them more work but they weren't responsive. I had couldn't get a quote after being told I would get one and they did respond to my calls/texts until I told them I was moving on. Good service at first and then they fell off the map. read more

TJ did an amazing job on our yard. After years of neglect, our newly purchased home was in serious need of some curb appeal. I'd ripped out most of the jungle, but quickly realized that finishing the job was going to be too much for me to handle. That's where TJ and Neighborly Lawns came in. He came out a few days after me emailing to give us a quote, his prices were fantastic, and he did the job just a few days later. He cleared our yard of hardened soil, removed old landscaping fabric, transplanted a bush, edged out flower beds, and laid 200 sq ft of sod just beautifully. He also worked on a Saturday for us, since we were out of town, so that our new sod wouldn't go unwatered! Truly a fantastic small company that does great work. I will definitely be calling him again in the spring for more help! read more

Really like these guys. Very good value. I've used them numerous times and I suspect will again. A+ read more

TJ did an amazing job on our house! We had all types of weeds, ivy, and just plain old nature growing on our home, and even through the walls. I did some research and TJ gave us the best price, got it done in an afternoon and did a great job to make sure it does not grow back. He even swung by to pick up his payment. I would highly recommend using Neighborly Lawns and I am thrilled with the work that Tj and his team did. Thank you so so much! read more

TJ and his crews at Neighborhly Lawns have been taking care of our grass/yard/trees for as long as we've lived in the neighborhood - almost four years now. He and all his guys are fantastic and take as much pride in my yard as they would at theirs. Trimming, mowing, sodding, mulch, weed pulling - everything. Prices are excellent, he always works around our schedule, and this point I have such faith in them I always just leave the gate unlocked when I leave for work, knowing that I'll come to a beautiful yard. read more

Super easy company to deal with. They don't waste your time. They just get the job done. Very happy with Neighborly Lawns!

I guess they don't want my business and don't care about customer service or wasting customers time. I contacted them about some landscape/lawn work/ongoing yard maintenance and informed them that I heard about them on Yelp. Tony responded a few days later that he was on vacation and when he would be back. I wrote again when he returned and he sounded interested. He even said he lived nearby. We went back and forth evening trying to sort out a time to meet for an estimate. Based on the timing for the work, I explained the estimate would need to be done without me being present. Tony said that was fine. I sent over detailed photos with descriptions of precisely needed to be done and how he could contact me if he had any questions. After all of that communication and effort, Tony never provided a quote. I even offered a few weeks later the potential to meet in person. Tony never replied. If I knew he/the company was never going to provide an estimate, I would never bothered contacting them. read more

When I first emailed I got a response within 2 days asking if I was free the following week. I responded right away and then heard nothing. When the day suggested came I emailed again and heard nothing. My friends recommended this company so I tried once more, no response. They got good reviews from my friends and from NextDoor but I couldn't actually get them to come to our place. Maybe because we needed lawn mowing/weeding and they wanted to do bigger, more expensive projects? I think that's fair but they should be upfront instead of not responding. I do have larger landscaping needs but if I can't even get a response for basic services I don't feel comfortable shelling out for more complex and expensive projects. Later on when I told my friend about my experience she said "yea you have to email him 3-4 times but he does good work!" I don't really have time to follow up with people that much but apparently she thinks the work quality is worth it. read more

Can't recommend TJ enough. He put sod down for my small yard in Petworth earlier this Spring. Hard worker, knowledgable, local guy, great price, polite and responsive. Finished product looks great, and I'm 100% satisfied. read more

I fully recommend this company. TJ and his crew have been taking care of the grass in 5 houses in the neighborhood and they all look great. The crew is very knowledgeable about their job, they are always taking care of the grass at all time. TJ did a great job at a great price. He did mowing, leaf and debris removal, and general yard cleanup, all for significantly less than the other quotes I received. He was very communicative throughout and did the job quickly and well. Will definitely use him again! read more

Over the years, my once lovely new yard had become a jungle thanks to my overenthusiastic planting without planning. Trevor of Neighborly Lawns tamed that jungle: trimming, moving, and feeding plants and shrubs throughout the yard. He also gave great advice on how to maintain and improve my landscaping in the future. All of this at incredibly reasonable prices. I will definitely seek his services again in the future. read more

I have never been moved to write a review before, but this is the kind of business that deserves a 5 star rating and that people should know about. I've lived in my house for 13 years and the front and back yards have been left natural. A friend would clean and plant a few times a year, but the yard really reflected our peculiar tastes. And the back yard -- forget about it. An unholy mess. Well, the house is going on the market and, you know, curb appeal and all that. Enter Neighborly Lawns. We shared our dilemma with TJ. TJ is totally solutions oriented and, rather than selling us a whole bunch of new stuff, suggests replanting much of what we have and adding to it. He took into account our neighbor's yard and planted in such a way that we, indeed, now have a neighborly lawn. TJ and and his crew, including the wonderful Keith, cleaned out two or three truckloads of trash, trimmed trees, replanted, added new plantings, created a patio space, mulched, sodded, and probably lots of other stuff I don't know to mention. The front of the house is beautiful, and the back yard looks like a putting green. We had mulch and sod in our driveway and bags all over the lawn, but the only remaining sign they were here is a front and back yard I can't stop staring at. These guys take true pride in their work. My only regret is that I did not do this sooner so I could enjoy it. Do yourself a favor. Call TJ. read more
