We had a tree come down, double oak. We went with our longtime Tree Service and local Fairfax City tree company. Emergency rates, sunday. Had to be done, we'd used them many times over the last decade (lots of oaks!). When they gave us the non-emergency, non-sunday rate for the standing, stable, but needed to come down sooner than later we were shocked. Almost as high as the highly technical, leaning onto two other oaks, not crane accessible fallen, leaning tree. Called 3 other companies for bids. Lopez was 25% cheaper for the second AND took care of the two LARGE stumps at half of what our regular tree guys were asking (for a repeat customer!). Two others were a little and a LOT higher than our usual tree company bid. Alvaro really represented Lopez well, personable, knowledgable, bid process was pleasant. The crew showed up two days later (we're not sure when the schedule would have got us on the other rotations, but likely not as fast!). Crane on the driveway, protected, tree taken down safely, protected my shed which was 1 ft away, the fence which was 6 ft away, ground the stumps, minimal impact to my lawn. We called five people for a quote, got two responses and went with Lopez because he was by far the most reasonable. There was a little mixup on the day he was supposed to come take the tree down, but we quickly got it straightened out and he came the very next day. A crew showed up, took the tree down quickly and efficiently and left the area so pristine you cannot even tell there was ever a tree there. These guys did an excellent job at a good price. Showed up on time with all the equipment ready to go and worked quickly to remove a large oak tree. At least two of the crew members spoke English. I had one big oak & one big maple to prune and one dead maple to remove. I asked for quotes from 9 companies. Alvaro from LTS was the only company who brought a laser pointer and showed me which branches he will remove and what will be done in detail. I still waited all my quotes to come in. I was reluctant to chose Lopez because I like trees and I was a little bit concerned they don't have certified arborist. Alvaro assured me he had a lot of experience and talking to him in person, I inclined to believe him. Plus, 5 star reviews by a lot of people say something. Ultimately, I picked Lopez because Alvaro works with me to get a personal touch on every single branches, I didn't have a good impression of other companies with certified arborists who weren't personable but just sent me standard quotes, the certified arborists might not accept my inputs, & Alvaro's quote came in the lowest (while having 5 star on Yelp by 4 times more people). Lopez has all the advanced equipment to get the work done properly. They also have enough crew member so the job was done in a few hours. I agreed with most branches suggested to be remove and added some of my own input. No BS. It was done pleasantly. I was worried for my lawn damage. They used ropes to tie to branches so they didn't free fall hard. For the tree removal, they used 3'x6' boards for the stump grinder with metal threads. There was little to no damage. I'd definitely recommend Lopez TS and plan to use them for future services. I can't really guarantee certified arborists would have done any better here. His reviews speak for themselves. They worked 4 1/2 hours nonstop until the job was finishes. The cleanup work was spotless. We are thrilled with the outcome; Unfortunately, one bird house was knocked down from one tree accidentally. Things happen but what followed impressed me more than I can say. This Bluebird box in our backyard had my flying squirrel in it.
