I had a great experience with this tree company from start to finish. They were professional, knowledgeable, communicated well throughout the entire process, and were very easy to work with. They had excellent availability, a quick turnaround from estimate to completion, and arrived with all the professional heavy equipment needed to complete the job safely and efficiently. They promptly provided proof of their licensing, workers' compensation, and liability insurance, which gave me confidence in hiring them. The crew worked efficiently, completed the job quickly, and left everything looking great. I'm very happy with the results and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable, knowledgeable, professional, and fully insured tree service. read more

Very good job including cleanup and haul away of all tree limbs. I would hire them again.

This is a great company to service your trees. Great work, very professional service, clean and timely. Excellent company to deal with.

Needed to have a dead tree cut down. This company was very responsive and efficient. Responded to my initial inquiry (on a Sunday) within minutes and was available to respond to give a quote that same day. The quote was reasonable within fair market average. Performed the work quickly and efficiently as desired the following day. Would recommend to a friend. read more

Ax Tree Services does great work. They have removed two trees from my property over the years and both jobs were done in a very professional manner. They took down, created wood chips, and cleaned up a nearly 50 ft pine tree for me in a matter of hours this weekend. Amazing work! read more

Elias and his crew did a superb job removing two very tall poplar trees, at a relatively modest cost. The night before the job, I asked Elias if they could complete the difficult job by noon on the day of, and he obliged. His crew showed up at 7:30am and worked non-stop until noon, finishing a very difficult job on time. It was an exceptionally hot day (sunny and 90 F but with the humidity felt warmer), but they kept going. Overall, they were very courteous, respectful, and competent. Would hire them again. read more

A part of a tree fell in my back yard, fortunately not damaging my or my neighbors' houses, but filling the back yard with pieces of tree. I called Ax Tree Services, and Elias called me back right away. He gave me an estimate the same day and sent out a crew out the next day. They cleaned up the fallen branch, trimmed that tree back, cut off the dead part of another tree on the property, and trimmed a third tree that had been damaged by falling limbs. All this and they cleaned up meticulously! The price was very reasonable and the work great. Thanks, Elias and team!! read more

Responded quickly. I already chose another company but appreciate their professionalism.

I had a tall poplar tree with a thick base. The branches were really extended and sometimes falling very close to the house. I reached out to Ax Tree Services to assess the tree and provide a quote. Elias the owner responded back immediately and was over to my place very quickly. I also wanted to trim the branches of a large maple tree (see pictures) and remove a medium sized line tree. The price provided was very competitive and they were able to get started on the project the same week. I could not be happier with the work done by this company. They came over with lots of equipment and close to ten workers. Every task was performed with care and proficiency with safety in mind. The workers were incredible and did an amazing job. They got rid of all the debris and ground down the stump. The wood chips were spread out as mulch. They even lay grass seeds in the areas where the grass was a bit disturbed due to the tree removal. The attention to detail was incredible. This is an amazing team and I would highly recommend them. read more

Elias and his team were wonderful. He was responsive to our original inquiry and then, kept in close touch as we navigated a permit requirement with the city of Alexandria. Background-- this was our third try to get a large maple tree removed from our townhouse backyard. In order to get a permit, we needed to pay the city, and have Elias update his insurance to include the city. Elias was wonderful at each turn. On the day of the tree removal, the team was a little late, but it didn't matter. They got the tree out without issue and did such a great with grinding it out and cleaning it up after. Beyond that, their team cleaned up the neighboring yards as well. The team also trimmed two neighbor's trees as well. I couldn't recommend Elias and Ax Tree more. read more

Found ax tree services on yelp. Got multiple quotes from different companies. Ax tree services replied first and came to my house that first day to give me and estimate. They were the more affordable company to help get my y'all tree down. They also provided their license and insurance upon request. I was worried about how they were going to get there tree down which was on the corner of my house. Also it was close to the power line going to the house. They came assessed and was able to handle the job with no problems. After the tree was down they cleaned up any debris that was left and took the tree away. I highly recommend using them for taking down any tree on your property. I referred them to my neighbors. Thanks guys read more

Elias and his team were amazing. Highly recommended and would use again. I hired AX for tree removal and they were efficient, dependable, and, above all else, safe. The quality of work provided was exceptional. Dependability: Elias was quick to respond to my text and was honest about his assessment of the trees in my yard. Conversation started on Sunday and by Tuesday work began. The crew showed up bright and early, finishing by the afternoon. Safety: The team took special care in removing each section of the tree. Not once did I feel unsafe about debris falling or causing damage to the property. Quality: What impressed my husband and I was their quality of service. What remained was a small, approx. one foot tall, stump. Additionally, after the tree was removed they dedicated time to cleaning up. They blew off the small branches and leaves that had fallen on both mine and my neighbor's roofs, as well as wood chips from my lawn. The yard looked cleaner after they left. Effiency: This was not their first rodeo. They had staff assigned to specific tasks, which made the whole process look seamless. Impressive to watch. read more

Ax Tree Services butchered my 100 year-old elm tree. An arborist who inspected the damage said it was the worst work he'd seen in his 24 year career, he couldn't believe Ax was licensed, and the tree may die as a result. My neighbor hired Ax to cut the branches from my tree that overhung his yard. Ax did the work without my permission. They cut over my property line, and hacked off so many large, thick branches that the tree may not survive. They didn't cut the branches close to the trunk of the tree, as any competent tree surgeon would. They also left a limb cut down the middle, exposing it to rot. It's going to cost me $900 just to have the cuts redone properly, but even then, Ax may have killed my tree. Ax also broke my fence when they dropped one of the branches by accident. I asked them repeatedly to fix it, and they never did. These people are clowns. Do NOT hire, unless you want them to kill your tree. read more

We had a giant, very dead oak tree in a very difficult to access location in our backyard. Ax Tree Services was extremely prompt in coming to our property to assess, provided a very reasonable quote, and had very good reviews, so we went with them. Those reviews were spot on. The entire team was friendly, considerate and extremely professional. They did a really, really good job taking that massive tree down and getting it off our property without damaging anything. For example, where flower garden rock borders were in the way of equipment that needed to come through, they carefully and meticulously moved the rocks and then replaced them once they were done. Honestly, the yard looked way better after they left. I can't say enough nice things and will definitely use them in the future (we have a LOT of trees). read more

This isn't the absolute cheapest tree service you will find, but their quote was one of the lowest we found--and I contacted a dozen tree service companies! The final bill was exactly what the estimate was, they were very professional, used all safety protocols, friendly, and clean up when they were done. read more

The job was to remove a very large old tree in my backyard. The owner gave me a quote of $3800 which he changed to $4500 when they got there. He told me it was because they had to get a crane. As they were working, I heard a large crash on my roof. I asked for a photo of the damage and he sent me a picture of a tiny little hole. The owner then asked me if I would pay for half of what it cost to repair my roof! I said that was crazy. They quickly got to work and patched it up. Fast forward several months later, I'm having a home inspection and the inspector discovers that two large beams that frame my roof are dangerously splitting. I contacted Elias and he ignored my texts and phone calls. I contacted their insurance company who offered a pittance to me. Now I'm dealing with my insurance company and no doubt my rates will go up. Also, they hired Fairfax Crane who left giant ruts in my front yard and did nothing to fix it. read more

Elias responded to my Request based on the Photo and promptly gave me a very reasonable offer. Upon arrival the job was much bigger than he anticipated and a very tricky job. He mentioned that he'd had under estimated the job and that since he couldn't use the crane due to tight spot it would be a manual effort and cost more. As I had a couple competing offers we agreed honor the deal and I committed to the job. Over all I'm very pleased with the job the team did and the competing quotes were all around the same range. They even helped clean up some of the other wisteria that had invaded adjacent trees. read more

I'd highly recommend Ax Tree Services to anyone looking for tree work. We recently worked with Ax Tree Services to remove two extremely large rotting trees from our yard. Great response and very competitive estimate. We didn't use the company but I wish I would have.

I would give Ax 6 stars if I could. To be honest I was a little nervous because their price to remove my large oak tree was lower than everyone else's, but I could not be more happy with the quality of work and the level of service. I got 5 bids on the job and theirs was by far the lowest. Elias was super responsive, he showed up the same day I called to give me an estimate, and he was able to get the job done a few days later (other companies were 30+ days out). The crew was amazing, the tree was entangled with 6 of my neighbors' power lines and they managed the whole thing without a hitch. They ground the stump completely (while other companies said they couldn't grind too close to a metal post that was stuck in the tree) and cleaned up thoroughly afterward. They even cut some of the logs to fit my fire pit! Seriously if you want to save money and get exemplary service don't even bother looking anywhere else. read more

I can't say enough good things about Elias and his crew. They showed up at the promised time, they were so fast, everything was done safely and clean. We had a 40' maple and they had it down super fast. Even left us some wood for us for our fire place. We have one more tree in our back yard so we will definitely be scheduling it with Ax Tree Service. If you want it done right at a great value, call Elias. Thanks again! read more

Excellent communication and follow through. My neighbors were very happy to see my trees fixed

The crew did a great job and price was very good! I had 4 tree stumps removed and they cleaned up everything afterwards.

I had more than 5 tree services and arborists quote me for removing 1 very large oak and trimming another one. Elias, from Ax Tree Services immediately impressed with his knowledge, willingness to teach and help me understand what he wanted to do and why. I'm no tree guy, but he explained the tree and what it's ailments were in a way that made sense. Ax Tree wasn't the cheapest but between the reviews and our informative conversation I felt they were the right company. I assure you this was one of the best decisions I've made. Elias was responsive to emails while setting up the appointment, worked with me for scheduling, and over delivered on service. His crew was early -ok by me- and went straight to work. I had good communication with Elias and the foreman throughout the time they were here. They safely removed the oak, trimmed the other while respecting my yard, fence and neighbors. They even left me with a moments from the tree. I hope the pictures I add do Elias and his crew justice. If not, I'm will gladly be a reference for anyone considering hiring Ax Tree Service. read more

Easy to work with and good value. Needed a tree trimmed and the bits taken away. Done!

They are the best! I had a Crepe Myrtle that needed pruning, been years since the last, and the branches had grown 25 ft or more. The crew did a fantastic job, very meticulous workmanship, by hand-- as opposed to a chain saw on a long pole, which gets the job done quickly, but crudely. This crew worked with great precision, cleaned up afterwords and were gone in 40 minutes. I would definitely use them again. Great work guys! read more
