First time hiring a tree trimmer and the experience was totally painless. They came out, gave me a quote and it was below the competitors. The team was courteous and cleaned up all the little debris after the trimming. read more

After looking at part of my yard for a year and trying to decide what to do, I started calling landscaping companies. Ax Tree and Landscaping Services, of course, was one of the companies I called based on their high ratings. Mr. Ortega came on a Saturday morning provided an estimate and I hired him based on the price and his attitude which is very important to me. He was polite and professional. His team arrived yesterday and quickly got to work. They removed the landscaping material, salvaged rubber mulch and placed it on another garden near the house, removed pieces of lumber that had been placed in the ground with rebar over 15 years ago, dig up the hostas and replanted where I had asked. His team proceeded to dig up and remove roots from a garden that was a mess before we moved into the home over 15 years ago. Then they laid topsoil, sod and watered the area. (See before and after photos) I am more than pleased as his team went above and beyond by repairing a place in the lawn that had roots above ground where a tree had been removed last year. (see photo) Thank you to Mr. Ortega and his team for a job well done! I highly recommend Ax! read more

Ax Tree Services deserves all 5 stars. I contacted Elias to remove 4 large trees (including one 70 dead tree) and their stumps, 5 bushes, and 2 stumps that were left from the previous owner who decided to not remove them after removing trees. Elias was very responsive to texts/emails and came out the day after I contacted him for an estimate. I had other estimates but his was the lowest by almost 30%. Although the price almost sounded too good, I decided with Ax Tree Services and they did a great job. They showed up on time to my house and were done by the end of the day (they got alot done very quickly). I would absolutely recommend Ax Tree Services to whoever needs some trees/bushes removed from their yard. read more

Excellent service at an affordable price. Job was done well and quickly with flexible price. Thank you guys so much and I highly recommend.

5 Stars for Ray and his crew! They were quick and professional in dropping an old, dead black oak tree in our yard. The price was incredibly fair and the quoting process was simple and easy. In and out in 90 mins, Ray is an artist with a chainsaw, it was a joy to watch him and his crew work. Thanks guys! read more

We've hired this company multiple times to remove large trees from our yard. The most recent job involved removing a large, tall tree that hung over our neighbor's house. The job was dangerous with a high risk of injury for the crew and damage to our neighbor's home. The crew was highly skilled, professional, and took all precautions to be safe and efficient. Additionally, they cleaned the surrounding area and street by removing branches and wood chips as they went along. Because of the complexity of the job, we expected that it would take them most of the day, but it didn't. The entire job and including clean-up was finished within three hours. This is the only company I would hire for tree removal services. Dave and Julie Fairfax, Va Aug. 2020 read more

Elias was great to work with and his price was fair. His team did a great job. Would highly recommend.

Communication was great. We had a four man team and they were done SO fast. And they did perfect! Would use them again!

We had 5 large trees removed and 1 extra that was cut down as requested. They quoted a price and remained within quoted price. They were very quick but still maintained safety-trees were very close to house. They also cleaned everything up afterwards-loose sticks throughout yard and sawdust/debris. read more

Fast, affordable, conscientious, courteous and professional. My mother needed a hedge row removed from her yard. Ax Tree Service offered to do an estimate on Saturday. Then scheduled the work for the following Tuesday. They cut down the hedge row, used a stump grinder to remove the roots and till the soil, hauled away the plant material, and then raked and swept up. They did such a good job that my mother thought we should have paid more than they bid and wanted them to return for another project. read more

Great service and fast scheduling! Elias and his team know their stuff! Highly recommend!!!!!

Fantastic experience from start to finish. Prompt response to my initial inquiry via text. Elias showed the next day to have a look, and his crew the following. Within 90 minutes the project was done, and met our expectations. Elias and his team were an absolute breath of fresh air in comparison to other contractors we've worked with. Highly recommend and I'm certain we'll be repeat customers! Thanks! read more

Update September 2023: We had Ax Tree Services out at our home about 6 weeks ago to trim 5 large trees after a large storm hit our area. In one of the same trees that Ax Tree Services trimmed 6 weeks ago, a large branch fell in our backyard this weekend, hitting our "ninja line" right above where a child swing is attached. When we called to ask them to help us understand how that could have happened and could they please come out to cut up & remove the branch, not only did they take zero responsibility for missing that large branch - a branch they would have been able to see up close while in that tree weeks ago - they also then quoted us a high fee to cut up the fallen branch and remove it from the back yard. I did not think that was a reasonable way to respond to the issue, particularly after our having worked with them twice in the past, having referred them multiple times for other business in the neighborhood, and our having an active quote in for work in the front yard planned for October. I'm very surprised and disappointed by their customer service, and want other people to be aware of our experience. I understand that tree services are not perfect, but in my opinion they should step up and take responsibility if they may have missed something big literally a few weeks ago that could have really injured someone in our backyard. read more

Stop looking for other companies and call these guys. Elias was the first to respond to us and the first to come out and give us an estimate. He communicated the whole way, keeping me in the loop. 5-6 guys came out to trim dead branches off a bunch of tall oak trees. Crew was on time and cleaned up great. They have done work for a bunch of houses on our street, now I know why. read more

Excellent work. I hired them to cut two front yard trees, two tall dead trees in my backyard and cut back some branches over my deck, as well as grinding down the leftover stumps. It's amazing how they take down those tall trees. They were fast in responding to inquiries and were competitive in their pricing. Most other companies I talked to were clearly not as capable or competitive as this company. Ax Tree Services did a great job for a great price. read more

These guys were awesome. They started the job the same day I reached out and finished the following day. They took down two massive trees along the fence line in my backyard. The way they roped down each branch was impressive! They didn't need to go into my neighbors yards at all even though half the tree leaned that way. They also avoided my neighbors' shed and deck which were right below some branches. read more

Elias is responsive and his team is great. They showed up on time in order to remove four large pine trees, one of which had fallen and was in danger of damaging our wall. Elias had a great price, arrived on time and took down the trees and removed them. They were done in two hours. All was completed the morning after Christmas. I was very impressed and definitely recommend this company. read more

The work in question was a large, thick oak. Their written agreement was to cut into 16-inch long pieces. But many of the pieces they left were substantially longer than 16 inches. The longest ones they left were two massive pieces of the trunk over 4 feet long. The excess length (hence weight) of these pieces will make clean up difficult. read more

Ax Tree presented the lowest bid ($1,450) to remove my large, 30 year iold elm tree and stump, and was available to do the job almost immediately. The trucks and crew (6) arrived in the morning and very efficiently took down the tree and later ground up the stump, leaving a clean, flat area and no sign of the tree. I would certainly use them again. read more

I hired Ax Tree Services to remove a set of trees that were located in a risk area when high wind or heavy snow occurs. Elias provided a competitive price, could start the job quickly, and had all of the equipment needed to haul away the limbs/chip debris. The crew was efficient and not only addressed the issues but did a thorough job of cleaning after the work was completed. This is my second tree removal service job with them. I will continue using Ax Tree Services in the future. read more

Elias and his team did a fantastic job - they were quick, clean, professional and competitive. I would definitely hire them again.

I brought Elias and his team back on December 30, 2020 to cut two big oak trees. I didn't even bother to quote second tree service company since I knew they are the best, as I put up a lengthy review a year ago for their excellent work on my other properties. It was a much challenging job this time though because of the narrower space and the deep slope, which they handled beautifully. They rented a crane to overcome the narrow space. It took less than an hour to cut the first tree. The second tree is a monster which is close to the house and the fence. It took them the rest of the whole day till 6pm. I could tell they were tired. They still did a very good job in cleaning up and picking up all the debris. My neighbor told me afterwards that she had removed 11 trees over the years and dealt with quite a few tree companies, Elias's team has to be the best, judged by their efficiency, attention to detail, the equipments and machinery. Highly recommend! read more

We've hired Ax Tree Services twice to take down two large trees, both last year and this year. In both cases there work was fantastic! The team is skilled, professional, and courteous. Great from start to finish. From the start, when I called, they picked up the phone right away and was very pleasant and professional. They came by the very next day for an estimate. They were able to work with my budget and got the job done next day. Their promptness was very appreciated because I had a huge limb that fell on my neighbor's tree and pushing their tree down. They cleaned up the area upon completing the work. Neighbor, tenant and I are all happy! Excellent company and I wish all companies were like this. read more

GRADE: A+ Excellent Professionals!!! Much better than the competition in price and customer service. I am proud to give Ax Tree Service my business and hope to use them for other landscaping services. EXPERIENCE: I got 6 quotes from different companies in Northern Virginia. Elias and the tree service professionals were the best by far in terms of price, response time, answering customer questions, and getting the job done (including clean up and follow-through). WORK: Elias and his team removed 8x 100ft+ trees and trimmed 3x 50ft trees. They were safe and quick and grinded all the stumps to be flush with the ground. OTHER ESTIMATES: Some companies gave verbal estimates that were higher and then added in stump grinding fees. Some were slow to respond or did not put it in writing. Ax tree services provided an emailed estimate, insurance paperwork, and worked around our schedule. read more

Ax Tree Services was great. They cleared an entire backyard with 5 trees, vines, poison ivy, bushes, etc. They also cleared a rotting shed and the concrete slab. They were (by far) the most reasonably priced, showed up on time, and did exactly what they said they would do. Would definitely use them again! read more

Elias and his team are very professional. They worked for me on commercial projects, including embassies with very high requirements, as well as residential projects. AX Tree Services also worked in my house remove more than 10 trees, including 3 trees 130+ feet tall which were just next to the house! All my clients have been very happy with the service as well as I have been and I highly recommend Elias and his team for any project. read more

AX Tree Services did a great job for us. On 10/5/20, Ax cut down a HUGE tree in our yard. Their other great reviews were true. They were very responsive. They came by quickly to gave us a quote and were less expensive than the other companies I checked with (I checked with 3 other companies). They showed up 30 minutes early and started cutting promptly at our scheduled start time. The guys were very professional and neat. They cut and chipped the wood on site. When they left, it looked like the tree was never there. I referred them to my sister and they were able to cut her tree the same day. They were very knowledgeable about trees and gave us great advice. Call Ax Tree Services if you need your tree cut! - Marie read more
