A large (80 -90 feet tall) tree fell on our house on Tuesday evening. We immediately called JL Tree's emergency number. Early Wednesday morning they had an arborist at the house, dispatched a large crew and a massive crane. They spent 7 hours carefully removing the tree, lifting huge pieces of it over our neighbor's house (thank you, good neighbors!), ground the small and medium branches, and stacked the very large trunk sections on the street. On Thursday they picked up all of the large sections and hauled them away. By 5pm the tree was gone and contractors were able to start doing a temporary repair of the large holes in our garage roof. This was a traumatic experience that was totally unexpected. This was a seemingly healthy tree that just tipped over without warning. Anyone can imagine how it feels to have a huge tree laying on your house. The support from JL Tree's Service went a long way toward making us feel like we were making progress on getting the mess resolved. We have used JL before and always thought they did good work at a fair price. Their response here was exceptional. read more

I've used JL Tree Service for several major tree projects over the past ten years, and they continue to perform very well. Their estimates are competitive. They communicate well. The team arrives on-time ready to work. The work is performed very well, according to the estimate, and what's requested. They've always delivered great value and service for all of my tree cutting and removal projects. They are also veteran friendly. High recommended. read more

Outstanding Job by JL Tree Service in Springfield, Virginia The crew from JL Tree Service, Group 29, led by Francis, did an outstanding job at my home in Springfield, Virginia. They safely trimmed massive overhanging branches--some as large as full trees--above my roof and deck, eliminating the danger while preserving the tree's natural shape and health. This was extensive, complex work that required a crane and expert knowledge of trees. Their coordination, communication, and respect for the property were exceptional. You could truly tell they take pride in their work. The team was professional, efficient, and left the area completely clean. A special thanks to Bill for his earlier visit and for coordinating so this crew could complete the work smoothly. I highly recommend JL Tree Service and this outstanding team. read more

This is our third time using JL Tree Service and they are absolutely 1st rate! Their prices are very reasonable and their arborist is very knowledgeable. Their work crews are extremely professional, courteous, and meticulous. We had a massive tree removal job, two 30 foot trees fell after a recent snow storm and they took care of it expertly within a day. The foreman for the crew, Juan Cantarero Ramos, treated us like family. He notified the neighbors on our private drive that a crane would be blocking the entrance, and his concern for our family was heartwarming. We highly recommend JL Tree Service for routine or emergency tree services! read more

First time using JL Tree Service. Had them remove a dead/dying 30 ft sweet bay magnolia from the rear of the property. Entire process from getting an estimate to scheduling the job to removal was efficient and professional. Communication via phone and email were outstanding. The work crew arrived on time, worked quickly and effectively and cleaned up after their work. Highly recommend and will use them in the future for any projects. read more

I have used JL Tree twice now for two larger tree removals. One leaning 35" dbh red oak and a codominant (two trunks, same base) 51" dbh tulip poplar that was towering over our house and at risk of splitting. The whole experience from the first free and very informative consultation, to scheduling, to the day-long removal was seamless. The crew completed the very difficult job with the crane being placed in the front yard and towering over the house into the back yard. They were very careful with the crane stabilizers and clean-up, and very committed to making the job as easy for us as possible. Regarding price, they were very competitive and came in at the lowest "per tree" range out of 3-4 other quotes we received, especially with the winter discount. Highly recommend! read more

I've used them in the past but never again. On the night of the recent Microburst, we lost a major tree limb and it blocked the sidewalk and part of the road. After I called that evening they got back to me later that night and said a crew would be out first thing the next morning. The next morning only an estimator arrived, and said the crew would be out no later than 1:30. Late in the afternoon, after nobody showed, I called and was told there was no indication that it was an emergency and it would be a couple of days before anyone could come out. We lost valuable time arranging a cleanup as a result. Never again. read more

JL cut a large tree down that hit my home. They piled the tree on the street in front of my house and some on my front yard. A MASSIVE pile of tree. Sitting here over two weeks from when they cut it down and they will not come and get the tree. I called to complain and they gave me an appointment date. That day came and went and they still did not clean it up. Every time I call they seem to not know anything about it and we have to start the conversation all over again about the issue. They did fine cutting the tree down but zero professionalism and follow through. read more

JL Tree Service was a great experience and I would use them again. First of all, their customer service and prompt response to calls and emails was excellent. In fact, they had multiple team members reach out to myself and my neighbor, whom we did a project together (tree removal). The project walk-through was excellent and the quote came the same day. I liked when the customer representative walked through with me, asked if I was a veteran (and I am), and provided me a veteran discount. The quote was obviously the best, as we went with them, but even if another vendor came in at the same price, I would probably go with JL Tree bc of their responsiveness. I had one vendor who didn't call me back for over 30 days! The day of the project was excellent. The foreman and I walked through the project (three tree removals). One large tree took 1.5 hours and two medium trees took one hour each. The team cleaned up everything nicely, and the bulk removal came two days later. Thanks JL Tree Service. read more

This year, as the company has for the past 6 or so years, JL TreeService helped our Civic Association install lights on a very tall American holly located within a small traffic circle in north Arlington. They were efficient, hard-working, and courteous throughout. The tree has become a tradition, now anticipated and admired by neighbors. read more

J&L Tree company is my go to tree removal company. Why then is my rating only a 2 star rating? Their stump removal service scheduling sucks. We had two trees removed last fall - the tree cutting service is wonderful - but the stump removal people scheduled on a day i had planned to leave on vacation, several weeks after the actual trees came down. This spring, I had them remove two more trees - wonderful removal crew. It has now been 4 weeks since the trees came down, and still no call from the stump people. I imagine they will try to schedule on the day i need to leave for two funerals. read more

I hired JL Tree Service to trim large branches from a giant oak tree next to my house that was endangering my roof to the extent that my homeowners insurance would be cancelled. I had only a short period of time to get this done. They gave me an estimate, presented me with a proposal and price that was very reasonable and got all the work completed in less than a week. William and his crew #25 were amazingly efficient in completing the task, removing all the cut wood, and even raking the area when done. I am truly impressed by this company and their great workforce and highly recommend them to anyone needing tree work read more

The team at JL Trees was great. They were responsive and helped my family make some decisions regarding a dying pine tree. JL Tree accidentally knocked down my mailbox, and yet they still earn 5 stars in my book. That might seem odd at first, but it was all in the way they handled the situation. First, their work was excellent. I was impressed with the person who came out to give me an estimate and liked the fact that he used a laser pointer to show me exactly where the branches in my very tall tree would be cut back. Then, the team showed up on time on the day of the trimming and did excellent work, then cleaned up so well that you wouldn't have even known they were there. When I came out to inspect their work, they apologized and let me know that they accidentally knocked down my mailbox when backing the cherry-picker out of the driveway. Honestly, I never would have noticed it (at first) if they hadn't mentioned it. They had managed to get it upright again and easily could have left without telling me, but they owned up to it. They wrote up a damage ticket, then came back two days later to install a brand new mailbox and post, paint it, and fix the stone border around the base. I'm very impressed with their work and the fact that they owned up to their mistake and fixed it immediately. Well done. read more

This was the first time I contracted JL but the second time seeing them work. They do an amazing job, very professional and skilled. They cut down a large tree within 10ft of my house and nothing touched the house. They also ground down the stump, which is an awesome process to watch. All of this for a very good price. read more

Their reputation is warranted! Excellent, quick service from estimate, to workers, to front office staff coord. Fair price. Large 60' tree removed from backyard in three phases - tree cutdown, large trunk removal, and stump and root grinding and removal. Professional, experienced, courteous, and hard-working staff. They even loaded wood in the back of a trailer for a relative to haul away for firewood! Couldn't be happier. read more

Two very tall Holly trees in desperate need of some TLC. We are usually DIYers however, these had gotten out of hand. JL's price was both reasonable and competitive. Crew 24 were able to complete the job the next day. Worth every penny. Trees were trimmed, crowned & and shaped as requested. Would definitely use again and would recommend. read more

Alex and his Team #63 removed a HUGE broken tree limb that was dangling above my roof. I would have had major damage to my roof if it had fallen due to the size of limb and the height it was precariously hanging. The limb was safely taken down without any damage to my fence or roof and cleanup was excellent. Additional debris clean up from previous storm was all done in a professional manner. Thanks, Alex and Team! read more

Somehow my request for service slipped through the cracks. Sean was apologetic, so I decided to change my mind and hire them.

Thank you, John...for your honest and reliable advise. John, has 41 years with the company and I really valued his opinion. First, let me say, it was easy to make an appointment with the company and they came out promptly and right on time. Unfortunately, my problem has to do with a neighbors group of 20 foot spruce trees that are growing over my property in the back of my yard. I am sure that everyone has had a pesky neighbor that won't take care of their property. Well, John advised me to wait a little while, before starting work on the trees. He told me that they were healthy trees and they would only be able to take off three feet of branches. On a 20 foot tree, that is not a lot. I am so appreciative of his advise and his honesty. I will definitely use JL Tree Service when I get the job done. I highly recommend this business. read more

Great service and actually lowest estimate as well, highly recommended. They came out and gave a free estimate, also I didnt have to pay until after the work was completed. They also don't charge an extra 3% fee like other tree services companies which makes a big difference as well. I had my 3+ story tree removed and had the stump / roots removed as well. They also back filled and leveled the area which i needed for my HOA. I didn't realize at the time but this project was 3 separate appointments which was not clear from the beginning (1 - tree removal; 2 - stump grind; 3 - stump debris removal and leveling). Overall i would definitely use them again and recommend to anyone looking for tree work. read more

Had these guys cut down my trees back in 2017. I picked them after exploring a lot of my options and found them to be the best value pick. I had this company remove a tree two and a half years ago. No issues. I called them back this year to remove two more. Guy came out, gave me a quote. Very nice. I accepted the quote in less than an hour, got the automated email saying someone would be in contact to schedule. Radio silence. After not hearing from anyone for three whole business days I called. The person i spoke with said the scheduler wasn't answering their phone. (Surprise, surprise.) Said they would give me a call. As of writing this review, I still have not heard. I since found another company to do the work for a good bit less. So sad that people can't even do simple work tasks like calling and scheduling nowadays. Ridiculous. read more

Excellent service and good value. JL trimmed a tree in my yard - they worked quickly and did a fantastic job, including cleaning up the area after the work was done. Initial request to work complete only took about a week. read more

Excellent service and fair price! Wonderful from beginning to end! EVERYONE was extremely nice! I needed a very large tree pruned. I highly recommend JL Tree Service. I had them cut down five big dead and dying trees in my yard and adjacent to the road. They also trimmed branches away from our roof. When I first contacted them, they were very prompt in sending an arborist/estimator to survey the job. Before he left, I knew how the trees would be cut down and removed, and was given a written estimate. The price quoted for the work was very competitive. The crew that took down the trees was skilled, very professional and worked very efficiently. They used a crane and wood chipper and were able to arrange them so that traffic on our small road could get by. Upon completion they removed all timber pieces, big and small. I would definitely hire them again for future work. read more

Excellent service, professional work and the most convenient price in the area. I´d go with them next time.

Well, I would definitely not use this company. My neighbor had a tree removed, the trunk piece hit the ground so hard it broke a branch off from my tree and landed on my car which left a substantial dent in it. When I spoke with them about it, they said it was my branch so my problem. Completely unprofessional and unhelpful since my new car is damaged and there is no recourse. I am furious. read more

Just had JL Tree come take a look at a very large oak that hangs over our house. A different company came by recently recommending to cut it way back, but JL Tree said it's healthy and to leave it.
