For a really popular place, we were pretty disappointed and pricey for the serving size. The interior is thoughtfully designed and worth seeing once. Lamb samosas (8.7): it was okay? Dishoom chicken tikka (14.9): NOT tikka masala! We were between this and the chicken ruby but were told it's just like butter chicken and were recommended this-- the highlight, chicken flavorful and tender, and I liked the pickled sides House black daal (11.7): their signature dish-- decent, pretty heavy and filling but nothing to sing about Roomali Roti (5.5): we were going to get the garlic naan, but the waiter said that's something you can get anywhere so we got the roti which he recommended-- however, this completely lacked flavor. I've had better roti in Malaysia and in the US lol Garlic naan (5.5): we ultimately got this because we didn't like the roti, but this also the garlic flavor was not shining through Other recommended dishes: chicken berry britannia with raita, charred lamb chops, murgh malai, okra fries Tip: you have to buy the rice, naan etc separately. Also heads up there's a 12.5% service charge.
Absolutely delicious dinner! We made reservations online about 2 months ago. 5:15 dinner worked well for us since we had a show at 7. We checked in on the lady with the tablet on the right side of the entrance. The left side is for walk ins. Super long line even at 5pm. But they were handing out small glasses of chai and something else. Anyway, the reservation line is short and they sat us right away. We wished we could have sat at the patio - it's covered. We didn't see that until we were already drinking. Well, next time! The ambiance - beautiful spot with lots and lots of tables. Every single one of them was taken. Tons of staff! They take good care of you here. Patrons vary, from dates to family dinners - the whole gamet! Come one, come all! The drinks came out right away. Dishoom IPA and chai. Beer came with a frosted glass. The chai was delicious! The food was amazing! Goan monkfish curry Ruby chicken Saffron cauliflower Garlic naan Basmati rice Everything was superb! I works happily go back tomorrow night!
I've been waiting for months to finally try Dishoom. We were starving by the time we arrived for iur reservation so we got plenty of food. We ordered the chicken ruby, the black daal which is their speciality, pav bhaji, bhel, biryani and garlic naan. The food tasted very comforting and not spicy l. The service was great and our waiter was attentive.
Having originally only went to Dishoom's Carnaby location, I came here for the first time because this is my friend's preferred Dishoom location. I see why she prefers coming here! The restaurant has gotta be like 4x the size of Carnaby. Not just that, the ambience is way better here. The tables are way more spaced out, so you don't feel super cramped. The open space helps negate the strong Indian spices that emanate from the kitchen. And it just feels way more comfortable. Anyways, our reservation was right at the tail end of the breakfast menu hours and right before the regular menu began, so we were able to get a Sausage & Egg Naan Roll to start. Also had the Lamb Biryani, Goan Monkfish Curry, Mutton Pepper Fry, and Murgh Malai. I mean basically everything at Dishoom is great, and this was no exception. Service was fantastic. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming! I love Dishoom, so you'll have to find a reason for me to not come here. Really good stuff!
Came here after many recommendations from friends and my Instagram feed--and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The vibe is warm and lively, the service was great, and the food was delicious . The Paneer, House Black Daal, roti and parathas, crispy okra, chai and lassi were all delicious. Definitely worth the wait, and I'd happily come back when in London!!
I'm probably going to get some hate for this but I only thought our meal was ok. Which bummed me out because I've been dying to try this place for years! We started with some yummy cocktails and the okra fries which were delicious - if only okra always tasted this good. For mains, we shared the chicken tikka, black daal, paneer and garlic naan. Pretty standard Indian order. The chicken tikka was just too spicy and we weren't used to that so it went mainly eaten. My favorite was the black daal but again, it wasn't so amazing that I would go and have it again. Honestly the best dish we had was dessert - the basmati kheer is a perfect rice pudding with crème brûlée like topping. So good. Service was spotty, I constantly found myself trying to find our server or make eye contact with him. They were slammed on a Tuesday night (which I'm sure is the case every night) so that's probably just the way things are but it could've been better. Disappointed but willing to try again, also made me want to try some other Indian spots in London next.
Went here yesterday for a celebration dinner. On the plus side, the restaurant is huge, tons and tons of seating. Prices aren't terrible. Food was really good, definitely some of the better Indian we've had. That said, service was slow and our celebration--which was acknowledged by the host enthusiastically--seemed to have been forgotten. A note: the dishes are not prepared to order so you can't choose your own spice level. One in our party ordered something that was delicious but couldn't be finished because it was too hot. I recommend it but it wouldn't be my every day choice for Indian.
Dishoom was incredible, my favorite meal in London! Everything was simple but perfectly well done - flavors were so good and delicious and everything we got was a great choice. We got pau bhaji to start, then naan, chicken ruby, and mattar paneer. I wish we got the daal too but we were full. They were also so generous and brought us complementary ice cream for my mom's birthday. We also got the shrikhand dessert, which truthfully wasn't really shrikhand but was still very yummy! Service was great and I really loved the vibe and interior decor of the place. Highly recommend if you are visiting London!
How did I not know Dishoom existed until now? Visiting London from California, this ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. It has to be some of the best Indian food I've had outside of India. The little complimentary chai while you wait in line is such a thoughtful touch and really sets the tone. Even though there was a queue, it moved surprisingly quickly. Once inside, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. As for the food... every dish we ordered was outstanding. Rich flavors, perfectly balanced spices, and you can tell a lot of care goes into every plate. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. If you're in London, don't overthink it. Just get in line, enjoy the chai, order what sounds good, and have a fantastic meal. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town.
Located in Covent Garden, you'll find this highly rated, recommended restaurant. The restaurant itself is pretty big. The seating area upstairs is spacious and there's a downstairs too. The staff are nice and polite and helpful with recommendations and today we ordered the Dishoom House Chaat, which was so good. Than the Biryani Lamb. Oh boy the lamb inside was so tender, so delicious and lastly we got the Chicken Ruby that was good and had a really nice kick to it. I can see why it's so popular. I definitely want to eat here again if we have time I would love to try their other dishes.
We had wonderful service here! Dishoom is a popular place but the dinner line for 3 on a weeknight wasn't too bad (they don't take reservations), I thought the line moved fairly fast and at some point they handed out small sample cups of chai to us which was nice. It's very spacious inside. Although their black bean dish Black House Daal is popular, I don't think it's something I'd reorder because I don't like beans that much in general. As a chicken tikka masala fan, I enjoyed their butter chicken the most. It's the closest thing they have to chicken tikka masala--which they don't have, they only have chicken tikka which is dry and quite spicy, has no creamy sauce. I also liked the okra fried, which is a type of fry I'm not used to seeing! It's got flavor, and I also loved the chutney and sauces on the table! I enjoyed a Dishoom Margarita which was strong in alcohol content and flavor, and a nice addition to the meal. They have an interesting drink menu, where you will find lots of nonalcoholic and rather healthy options! They have a small shelf in the middle of the room where they sell some of their chai and cookbooks amongst other things.
Dishoom absolutely lived up to the hype! We were a little nervous because we didn't have reservations, but the staff was incredibly accommodating and found a way to get us seated. It was well worth the weight. We ordered lamb samosas, sheekh kebab, chicken ruby, and both the garlic and onion naan. Every dish was packed with incredible flavor, and it was easy to see why this has such a loyal following. The chicken rub was especially outstanding, and the noun was the perfect accompaniment. The service made the experience even better. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to offer recommendations that did not disappoint. This was one of our favorite meals on our London trip. We only wish they would open a location in the United States!
Some days this place would be jam packed, but other days I passed by, it seems chill. I recommend making reservations if you can. I came here on a weekday night and waited about one hour for a party of five. While waiting in line, they offered a cup of hot chai tea which was perfect for the cold weather. The chai is absolutely delicious. The Chicken Ruby, Okra Fries, and Masala Prawns were my favorite dishes. House Black Daal is their signature dish, which is good to try. The restaurant is dimly lit for an intimate family dinner, but a bit loud. The restrooms are clean. The staff is friendly. I only give them 4/5 because the curries are pretty comparable to places I've been to before, but if I have to recommend one dish and one drink - Okra Fries and Chai Tea.

This is hands down one of the best Indian meals I've ever had. I knew very little about this place other than that more than one person recommended it on Facebook. It was only later that I'd notice that Ruggy and other Yelp dignitaries had experienced the majesty of this modern Indian tapas hangout slinging traditional street flavors. Being jetlagged and coming here at 4:30 pm probably helped my cause of getting in without much fuss. The wait was about 5 minutes and only the arrival of my East India Gimlet and lamb samosas were able to drown out the guilt I felt over snagging a three-person table by myself. Before I was seated, I waited at the bar downstairs and had time to admire the cavernous layout and dimly lit rooms, surprisingly sexy and mysterious compared to the Indian restaurants I've experienced in New York. I ordered up the items I understood to be standouts here, and they didn't disappoint. In addition to the aforementioned lamb samosas, the house black daal and chicken ruby curry were both out-of-this-planet good. I mean, plate-licking good stuff. Make sure you don't miss either dish. Looking forward to a return visit on my next trip to London. Come at off-peak hours and order up a bunch of stuff. This is a place for sharing, yours truly notwithstanding. read more

Came to this place with a couple friends for dinner. They had us sampling chai tea and lemonade while we were waiting in line. The line moved pretty quick and before we know it we were seated. We waited about 45mins which wasn't bad. We ordered 4 entrees for the 4 of us. We also ordered 2 sides which were bowl of greens and basmati rice. All dishes were amazing and it was an awesome experience. Most of their dishes are dry and not saucey like other Indian places I've been to in the past. We were all stuffed and super satisfied with the service and food. Definitely a great place for romantic dinners with the dark atmosphere inside. Even though we were full, we still wanted to order more. It was impossible to stop talking about it after we left the restaurant. Garlic Naan: Oh my god! The garlic naan was perfect with the chicken ruby we ordered. The naan itself was just as amazing. It had just enough garlic and butter on there to make it super flaky and good. Mahi Tikka: Hands down best dish of the night! There were 4 big pieces of fish which was perfect for each of us to try one. The fish was super fresh and amazingly good. It pretty much melted in my mouth after taking one bite of it. I've never seen fish at an Indian restaurant before, but man this was literally hands down best dish ever! I almost wanted to order another one. Chicken Ruby: This was really really good. It was the red tomato sauce with chicken in it. There were big chunks of chicken in there which were super tender. I ordered some rice and ate it with the sauce. The sauce wasn't super overpowering the chicken or over spiced at all. I'm super picky with my sauce, but this was really good to the point that I would be able to drink it just by itself. Dishoom Chicken Tikka: This was probably one of their signature dishes. The chicken thighs were super juicy and smooth. They definitely didn't over cook the chicken. I will definitely come back when I visit London again. read more

Dishoom lives up to the hype. We got the lunch feast as a large group (9 people) and the service, though slow, was adequate. Mumbaikars in my party suggested that the Bombay local cuisine was well-represented! Also, one of our party left a jacket and the server chased us down outside to make sure they didn't forget it. read more

The best Indian restaurant I have ever visited. Love the modern take on traditional dishes. The chai tea was strong and perfectly sweetened. The ruby chicken is the star of the show and a must order. The chef's special fish was good but very spicy! The corn was pretty standard, as was the broccoli salad. The gulab jamun dessert is also a must order. Everything was fantastic. This location is the only one that allows reservations online in the daytime (not dinner). Lines get super long but absolutely worth the wait read more

Hype is real! made an early dinner reservation for 5pm and the restaurant was already packed. By the time we left around 6:30pm, on a week day, there was already a long line of people waiting in line. We had a late lunch that day so wasn't able to order too much food so this is what we ordered for a family of 4 with 2 young kids: 1) gunpowder potatoes: Big portion, oven roasted potatoes that paired well with the curries 2) Garlic naan: 1 piece of naan bread. We loved it! 3) Tandoori roti: 1 piece of roti. We liked the garlic naan bette 4) Lamb samosas: 3 pieces. So yum with just the right amount of spice 5) Chicken berry britannia: wonderful aromatic rice with tender pieces of chicken served in a clay pot. delish! 6) Chicken ruby: ALso served in a clay pot. Very flavorful and great with the breads and rice 7) house chai: Yum yum yum and bottomless too! This being our 1st time at the restaurant, Ricardo our server spend a good 5-10 minutes explaining the menu to us. Best waiter!!! Would love to return and try their other dishes. read more
After having owned the cookbook from Dishoom for a while, I was really excited to try the dishes straight from the origin. I made a reservation for one during lunch hours on a long layover I had in London. A reservation is definitely recommended, by the time I was leaving, there was a line outside. As soon as I walked into the restaurant, I was taken by the gorgeous interiors. You can tell that the decor was carefully picked out and the detailing of every element of the restaurant was beautiful. It's a lovely ambiance to have a meal in. When I sat down, they handed me this cute paper menu that looked like a newspaper. Since I was dining alone, I asked the waitress for her best recommendations. She gave me several options from the small plates, entrees, and breads/rices. I started with the house chai. Then I chose a small plate--the okra fries, an entree--the lamb chops, and a garlic naan to go with it. The chai came out first and that was so delicious; I had 3 glasses (btw, they refill the chai for free!). Then came the okra fries and wow. That was one of the best preparations of okra I've ever tasted. Then my lamb chops and garlic naan came, and if you come here, you HAVE to try the lamb chops. They were cooked to perfection and extremely delicious. The garlic naan I probably could have done without with this dish, it was a bit thin and less fluffy than I was expecting. Overall, I absolutely loved this restaurant. It is a place not to be missed. I look forward to coming back in the future to try more of their dishes. read more

This is probably one of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to in my life. I had to wait a bit for my table, so I went to the bar downstairs. The bartender was so patient when I was deciding on my drink. When I was seated and ready to order, my server talked me through my order. She knew what i wanted and figured I ordered wrong. She helped me and she was completely right. I devoured my meal in minutes because it was that good. I ordered naan, rice, and chicken. Next time I'm in London, I will definitely be coming back here read more

Quick summary: Delicious Indian cuisine in a lively upscale location I made reservations to eat here long before I came to town because I was way too excited about trying the food that local and non-local Yelpers rave about. The ability to make reservations online way in advance is an automatic plus-one rating from me. First thing I noticed was that there was a huge line forming outside in the rain. Once I mentioned the reservation, we were led to our table on the ground floor immediately. The kitchen is on this level, so you can see the craziness from your seat. There is a downstairs portion of this restaurant, which I was grateful to not be seated in because there are no windows and I get claustrophobic. However, when I went down there to use the restroom I notice it was very interestingly decorated, with little alcoves for your party and different artwork. It probably is also less hectic and provides more intimate seating. Here are the dishes I tried with photos attached: Keema Pau- spiced lamb appetizer to get you going Masala Prawns- Large, grilled, and seasoned Roomali Roti- A paper thin bread Chicken Ruby- Luxurious chicken curry Garlic Naan- Personal favorite for any Indian meal The food here is well spiced, fresh, and cooked to perfection. It definitely lived up to the hype and has earned return visits and recommendations from me. The service was impeccable as well. This is a perfect restaurant for date night, special occasions, and to treat yourself. Their large drink menu also makes this an option for you to make a night of it with coworkers or friends. read more
