For a really popular place, we were pretty disappointed and pricey for the serving size. The interior is thoughtfully designed and worth seeing once. Lamb samosas (8.7): it was okay? Dishoom chicken tikka (14.9): NOT tikka masala! We were between this and the chicken ruby but were told it's just like butter chicken and were recommended this-- the highlight, chicken flavorful and tender, and I liked the pickled sides House black daal (11.7): their signature dish-- decent, pretty heavy and filling but nothing to sing about Roomali Roti (5.5): we were going to get the garlic naan, but the waiter said that's something you can get anywhere so we got the roti which he recommended-- however, this completely lacked flavor. I've had better roti in Malaysia and in the US lol Garlic naan (5.5): we ultimately got this because we didn't like the roti, but this also the garlic flavor was not shining through Other recommended dishes: chicken berry britannia with raita, charred lamb chops, murgh malai, okra fries Tip: you have to buy the rice, naan etc separately. Also heads up there's a 12.5% service charge.
Absolutely delicious dinner! We made reservations online about 2 months ago. 5:15 dinner worked well for us since we had a show at 7. We checked in on the lady with the tablet on the right side of the entrance. The left side is for walk ins. Super long line even at 5pm. But they were handing out small glasses of chai and something else. Anyway, the reservation line is short and they sat us right away. We wished we could have sat at the patio - it's covered. We didn't see that until we were already drinking. Well, next time! The ambiance - beautiful spot with lots and lots of tables. Every single one of them was taken. Tons of staff! They take good care of you here. Patrons vary, from dates to family dinners - the whole gamet! Come one, come all! The drinks came out right away. Dishoom IPA and chai. Beer came with a frosted glass. The chai was delicious! The food was amazing! Goan monkfish curry Ruby chicken Saffron cauliflower Garlic naan Basmati rice Everything was superb! I works happily go back tomorrow night!
I've been waiting for months to finally try Dishoom. We were starving by the time we arrived for iur reservation so we got plenty of food. We ordered the chicken ruby, the black daal which is their speciality, pav bhaji, bhel, biryani and garlic naan. The food tasted very comforting and not spicy l. The service was great and our waiter was attentive.
Having originally only went to Dishoom's Carnaby location, I came here for the first time because this is my friend's preferred Dishoom location. I see why she prefers coming here! The restaurant has gotta be like 4x the size of Carnaby. Not just that, the ambience is way better here. The tables are way more spaced out, so you don't feel super cramped. The open space helps negate the strong Indian spices that emanate from the kitchen. And it just feels way more comfortable. Anyways, our reservation was right at the tail end of the breakfast menu hours and right before the regular menu began, so we were able to get a Sausage & Egg Naan Roll to start. Also had the Lamb Biryani, Goan Monkfish Curry, Mutton Pepper Fry, and Murgh Malai. I mean basically everything at Dishoom is great, and this was no exception. Service was fantastic. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming! I love Dishoom, so you'll have to find a reason for me to not come here. Really good stuff!
Came here after many recommendations from friends and my Instagram feed--and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The vibe is warm and lively, the service was great, and the food was delicious . The Paneer, House Black Daal, roti and parathas, crispy okra, chai and lassi were all delicious. Definitely worth the wait, and I'd happily come back when in London!!
I'm probably going to get some hate for this but I only thought our meal was ok. Which bummed me out because I've been dying to try this place for years! We started with some yummy cocktails and the okra fries which were delicious - if only okra always tasted this good. For mains, we shared the chicken tikka, black daal, paneer and garlic naan. Pretty standard Indian order. The chicken tikka was just too spicy and we weren't used to that so it went mainly eaten. My favorite was the black daal but again, it wasn't so amazing that I would go and have it again. Honestly the best dish we had was dessert - the basmati kheer is a perfect rice pudding with crème brûlée like topping. So good. Service was spotty, I constantly found myself trying to find our server or make eye contact with him. They were slammed on a Tuesday night (which I'm sure is the case every night) so that's probably just the way things are but it could've been better. Disappointed but willing to try again, also made me want to try some other Indian spots in London next.
Went here yesterday for a celebration dinner. On the plus side, the restaurant is huge, tons and tons of seating. Prices aren't terrible. Food was really good, definitely some of the better Indian we've had. That said, service was slow and our celebration--which was acknowledged by the host enthusiastically--seemed to have been forgotten. A note: the dishes are not prepared to order so you can't choose your own spice level. One in our party ordered something that was delicious but couldn't be finished because it was too hot. I recommend it but it wouldn't be my every day choice for Indian.
Dishoom was incredible, my favorite meal in London! Everything was simple but perfectly well done - flavors were so good and delicious and everything we got was a great choice. We got pau bhaji to start, then naan, chicken ruby, and mattar paneer. I wish we got the daal too but we were full. They were also so generous and brought us complementary ice cream for my mom's birthday. We also got the shrikhand dessert, which truthfully wasn't really shrikhand but was still very yummy! Service was great and I really loved the vibe and interior decor of the place. Highly recommend if you are visiting London!
How did I not know Dishoom existed until now? Visiting London from California, this ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. It has to be some of the best Indian food I've had outside of India. The little complimentary chai while you wait in line is such a thoughtful touch and really sets the tone. Even though there was a queue, it moved surprisingly quickly. Once inside, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. As for the food... every dish we ordered was outstanding. Rich flavors, perfectly balanced spices, and you can tell a lot of care goes into every plate. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. If you're in London, don't overthink it. Just get in line, enjoy the chai, order what sounds good, and have a fantastic meal. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town.
Located in Covent Garden, you'll find this highly rated, recommended restaurant. The restaurant itself is pretty big. The seating area upstairs is spacious and there's a downstairs too. The staff are nice and polite and helpful with recommendations and today we ordered the Dishoom House Chaat, which was so good. Than the Biryani Lamb. Oh boy the lamb inside was so tender, so delicious and lastly we got the Chicken Ruby that was good and had a really nice kick to it. I can see why it's so popular. I definitely want to eat here again if we have time I would love to try their other dishes.
We had wonderful service here! Dishoom is a popular place but the dinner line for 3 on a weeknight wasn't too bad (they don't take reservations), I thought the line moved fairly fast and at some point they handed out small sample cups of chai to us which was nice. It's very spacious inside. Although their black bean dish Black House Daal is popular, I don't think it's something I'd reorder because I don't like beans that much in general. As a chicken tikka masala fan, I enjoyed their butter chicken the most. It's the closest thing they have to chicken tikka masala--which they don't have, they only have chicken tikka which is dry and quite spicy, has no creamy sauce. I also liked the okra fried, which is a type of fry I'm not used to seeing! It's got flavor, and I also loved the chutney and sauces on the table! I enjoyed a Dishoom Margarita which was strong in alcohol content and flavor, and a nice addition to the meal. They have an interesting drink menu, where you will find lots of nonalcoholic and rather healthy options! They have a small shelf in the middle of the room where they sell some of their chai and cookbooks amongst other things.
Dishoom absolutely lived up to the hype! We were a little nervous because we didn't have reservations, but the staff was incredibly accommodating and found a way to get us seated. It was well worth the weight. We ordered lamb samosas, sheekh kebab, chicken ruby, and both the garlic and onion naan. Every dish was packed with incredible flavor, and it was easy to see why this has such a loyal following. The chicken rub was especially outstanding, and the noun was the perfect accompaniment. The service made the experience even better. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to offer recommendations that did not disappoint. This was one of our favorite meals on our London trip. We only wish they would open a location in the United States!
Some days this place would be jam packed, but other days I passed by, it seems chill. I recommend making reservations if you can. I came here on a weekday night and waited about one hour for a party of five. While waiting in line, they offered a cup of hot chai tea which was perfect for the cold weather. The chai is absolutely delicious. The Chicken Ruby, Okra Fries, and Masala Prawns were my favorite dishes. House Black Daal is their signature dish, which is good to try. The restaurant is dimly lit for an intimate family dinner, but a bit loud. The restrooms are clean. The staff is friendly. I only give them 4/5 because the curries are pretty comparable to places I've been to before, but if I have to recommend one dish and one drink - Okra Fries and Chai Tea.

Ok, I don't really fancy Indian food but my god Dishoom was good! Where else are people willing to wait 45 min in 35 degree weather just to get seated?! Dishoom came recommended by a few people who have been to London so I knew I had to check it out! TLDR: get the Naan, the chicken ruby (similar time butter chicken) and the black lentil daal. The chicken is super tender, the naan is perfectly crispy and flavored and the overall atmosphere is perfect for a small group of friends :) read more
London is known for it's amazing Indian food and there are tons of Indian restaurants all over the city. This place was recommended by a few friends and the crazy Yelp reviews made me want to try this place during my trip to London. I made reservations prior to my trip for lunch on a Friday. We got here 15 minutes before noon (our reservation time) and were immediately seated. At that time the wait for others was around 30 minutes. When we left the place, there was already a line outside. The service was amazing and our waiter was very attentive and friendly. Here is what we ordered: - Bhel: delicious. Loved that it was not soaked in tamarind chutney. - Okra Fries: loved it!!! Wasn't sure what to expect but these were seasoned perfectly and we finished it off in no time. - Paav Bhaji: loved it!!!! The bhaji was so well cooked and the bread was fresh and toasted to perfection. - House Daal: soooo good!!! I was so full with the other food that I couldn't finish the daal. As I'm writing this review, I'm craving that daal. Yes it was yummy. - Roomali Roti: this was a bit dry. In India these are so soft that they melt on your mouth. This one turned dry as it got cold. - House Chai: perfect for a cold day. It was a bit sweet for my taste but so delicious. My hubby got Murg Malai and said it was as good as what you get in India. Overall I'm a huge fan of this place and would love to come back and try their other dishes. Would I wait an hour to eat here?? No - as there are tons of amazing Indian restaurants in London. Make a reservation and enjoy the food. read more

Pricy but reasonable and dishes are worth it. Never had anything like these dishes before so I cannot say it is authentic but I know I can taste good food and this was it. Customer service: 4/5 because waitress was slow getting to me but kind when she got to me. Price: 4/5 Food: 5/5 Sincerely, Cherie read more
Good quality ingredients & very authentic flavors! Dishoom is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in London & I think about them often while I'm back in the states. While Carnaby can be a little overwhelming on certain days, you can always find a cozy (yet lively) escape in Dishoom's thoughtfully designed space. Great cocktails, good service & food that is always worth the wait! read more
I went here on the recommendation of a friend originally from India, so I had pretty high expectations. Dishoom lived up to them and more. The food was all incredibly flavorful and I am already planning to attempt a recreation of the black daal at home because it was that good. Prices are a bit high, but at the same time pretty reasonable for London. My husband and I shared the daal, chicken tikka, naan, rice and bowl of greens and it was a bit too much food for lunch (I should probably note we're both not huge eaters, so if you have a large appetite this would probably be more suitable) and therefore I'd recommend ordering one item with a side or two first and adding on as needed, at least if you're returning to a hotel with no refrigerator for leftovers as we were! read more

1750 Yelp reviews. All good so we had to eat here when we were in London. Wouldn't wait an hour on line anywhere to eat so we ate here for lunch. You check in upstairs. Apparantly you can make reservations here for lunch. We were sent downstairs to wait by the bar. The entire downstairs was packed. 15 minutes passed and our beeper went off. No seats available upstairs so we ate downstairs. Tables are very close to each other. Our waiter was very friendly and helped us order. We had vegetable samosa, side of vegetables (broccoli, kale and green beans), raita, rice, nan and chicken. All the food here is very good. Would return (for lunch hahaha) read more

The food was delicious and flavorful. The atmosphere was a little bit dark but still enjoyable. Don't be intimidated by the line, it goes much faster than you think! We showed up with no reservation and it took about 20 minutes to be seated. read more
Expect a wait. But worth every minute A line forms every day so expect a 40min to hour wait (can make a reservation if Party is 6 or more). Environment is happening and there is wonderful aromas everywhere. We had the mutton pepper fry which was tender with amazing complex flavors. We didn't want this dish to end. We also had the lamb both kabob (not on a skewer which surprised) and the chicken ruby. It was all amazing. This is a top 5 restaurant experience and a must if in London. read more

We enjoyed Dishoom for dinner so much that we needed to get another taste before we left London. As our flight is in the afternoon, we opted for breakfast. This time we went to Dishoom at Covent Garden. The opened at 9 and we were the third table to sit. By 9:30, the room was pretty much filled. We ordered the big Bombay (which is essentially their version of the English breakfast), the keema per eedu, and the famous bacon naan roll. Oh and chai as well. The chai isn't as sweet as the typical ones we get which was great. It was quite delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed the big Bombay and keema as well. These are hearty breakfast choices of course but the better ones in my opinion. The bacon naan was good but not as amazing as I thought it would be. Overall the breakfast was a success and I'm in love with their spicy chutney. The dinner menu is better but I wasn't disappointed with breakfast either. read more
My first AND last meal in London! The hype is real and this restaurant is a must if you're visiting London. There are numerous locations throughout London but this spot was the most convenient for us. The long queue outside might seem daunting but it moves pretty quickly and there are people offering you hot tea as you wait in the freezing cold. As you get closer, there are heat lamps that temporarily help. Once you're ushered into the restaurant, you think you're about to be seated but you're just transferred to the downstairs bar area while you wait for a table to open up. My favorite dish at Dishoom has to be the chicken ruby. It's AMAZING. The curry is phenomenal and we had to order more garlic naan to wipe the rest of the curry clean! I just can't stop thinking about that delicious curry! The chicken was terrific and was soft and tender. Another favorite of mine was the lamb biryani. The lamb was properly cooked (super tender) and the spices in the bowl were spot on. I could go on and on about how great Dishoom is but you might be reading for a while. Here's what you need to know...if you're in London, you have to eat Indian food and that means making a trip to Dishoom. read more

Our first time back in London after nearly 9 years and this was our only MUST returns! We share this gem with all of our friends that visit and we are salad we were able to return. The food was as incredible as it was during our first visit... with not bad choice on the menu. The food and the drinks are top notch and the ambiance is perfection. Impeccable service from a friendly staff from the moment you walk in the door topped off our exquisite experience. read more

Where do I start? Easily, one of the best Indian meals I've ever had! To start off, the service was impeccable. They allowed the gf and I to grab a seat at the bar and order a drink to start as we waited for our table (no food service at the bar). And those cocktails were so fresh, so unique and so delicious that we were both in shock over this great start to our dinner. I had the Padmini negroni, she the Dishoom margarita and they were just flavor bombs of deliciousness! I can still taste the Indian cocoa in the negroni. And then, once nearly done, we were ushered to our dimly lit corner table with attentive service and the food aromas around us already making us salivate. The chota papad with mango chutney was a fine starter BUT then the big boys came! Those veggie samosas and the sauce were some of the best ever, the chicken ruby was divine (get roti), the tandoori lamb was tender and perfectly seasoned (I was full but wanted more) and when teamed with the masala paratha and some garlic naan, easily one of the best meals I've ever had in London after visiting this city more than 20-times. And then the "cherry on top." I am not a sweets person but we said, why not! Food has been that good, dessert may be just as good. We were wrong. It was better! Alongside her espresso and my espresso martini, we ordered the Dishoom chocolate pudding. Now the salted chocolate pudding was delicious BUT when teamed with that incredible and unique Kashmiri chili ice cream that cools your taste buds but also sends out a heat signal on the way down... to say I wanted to lick the plate would be an understatement. So damn delicious! Again, I've been to many restaurants in many countries and this place, Dishoom in Covent Garden, one of the best I've ever had. Ever. Can't wait to go back again when I return to London. That's how good this experience was! Thank you for a great meal! read more

I wanted to check out the hype so my friend and I got into the long queue outside the doors on a Thursday evening. The line moved quickly, but for my party of 5, we got sat in 10 minutes! Our waiter was very accommodating to us putting in our orders multiple times and keeping our menu with us. Specifically for the food, it was absolutely delicious, especially for the price. THE CHAI was bottomless and the best chai I've actually ever had. We had asked the server for advice on what to order and all of it was delicious. Things I ordered that I would definitely get again: Bhel, Chili Chicken, Chai, Lamb Seekh Kabab, Mattar Paneer, Kulfi Malai read more

TIMING: - Got in line at 5pm on a Saturday - Was told it will be an hour and 40 minutes - Stood in line for 50 minutes in cold and rain but got tea! - Food came very quickly and we finished everything within 50 min. FOOD: 1. Hot tea (pot) - Hot, comes with a tea leaf filter 2. Garlic naan - Texture: light, thin - Seasoning: not enough garlic - Portion: 1 naan cut in half - so it seems like there's more! 3. Cheese naan - Texture: light, thin - imagine the cheese streaming video - Seasoning: just the right amount of cheese - Portion: 1 naan cut in half - so it seems like there's more! 4. House black daal - Texture: thick and creamy - Seasoning: spicy (my tolerance level is about 2/5) - Portion: perfect for 2 people 5. Chicken ruby (their version of chicken tikka masala) - Texture: thick and creamy - Meat: a good amount for both of us - wasn't skimped - Seasoning: mild - Portion: perfect for 2 people - can be pretty filling! 6. Bowl of vegetables - Texture: overdressed - Seasoning: surprisingly spicy - Portion: pretty good - comes in a bowl 7. Lamb samosas - Texture: outside: light lamb: decent - Seasoning: surprisingly spicy - Portion: comes with 3 SERVICE: - Attentive - Quick EXTRA: - The waiter recommended for us to get about 7 dishes to split between 2 - They have a dairy-free menu! WOULD RECOMMEND? - Yes if you have the time to wait in line read more

Such amazing food! There is typically a long wait and you have to stand in line, but it moves pretty quick and the servers bring drinks out to the line! The food was incredible and our server, Luca, was so attentive and friendly! The ruby chicken was so great! Other food items I would recommend include the okra fries and chili chicken! read more

This was #1 on my London Food Tour list and it didn't disappoint. When we walked up we noticed the long line *ahem* que but saw that it was going quickly. The hostess passed out warm chai which was the best I've ever tasted. We loved talking to the locals while we waited. Great experience and we hadn't even walked through the doors. This place has the best ambience. Plan your London tour around Dishoom! read more
