This was so so good! Why don't they have a Michelin star yet? I'm so confused. Everything we got was so delicious. We were in line but it went by so fast. The restaurant is beautiful and the ambiance is so hip yet cozy. I will have to buy their cookbook when I get a chance because those dishes were amazing. It was our favorite place in London. They are so thoughtful and passed out warm chai to those waiting. read more

The wait was soo long but totally worth it. They give everyone waiting in line some chai. Service was extremely friendly and our waiter made some excellent recommendations. The highlight of the meal was the house black daal. We also had the lamb chops and chicken biryani and left extremely satisfied. The restaurant was packed and the decor impeccable. Great place for meal or large parties. Would come back! read more

Amazing! Amazing food, service, and ambiance. It was my first time trying Indian food so I was nervous but I Loved every single thing I ordered! The ruby chicken was as good as everyone says it is. I hate spicy so got a mango lassi to cool my mouth off a little and it did the trick. Still dreaming about this meal. read more

Not sure what I can add that has t been said. Just go. I'm famous for not liking Indian food (just not my cup of tea) but maybe I've been wrong. Excellent meal, try everything and don't be intimidated by the wait. Absolutely worth it and a highlight of our trip! read more

Five stars for Dishoom Covent Garden! Our experience was exceptional from start to finish. Our server, Nicola, was warm, attentive, and perfectly paced--never rushed us but was always there when needed. She made fantastic recommendations that elevated the meal. The manager stopped by to ensure everything was good. Loved the open kitchen. Every dish was absolutely delicious--flavorful, vibrant, and beautifully presented. Truly par excellence! We can't wait to return! read more

Had an earlier 4:30pm dinner there (necessary to avoid a long wait) and was not disappointed. My only criticism is the portions are on the small side. Still very authentic and nice vibe inside. Definitely my go to Indian restaurant whenever I'm visiting London. read more

Everything about this restaurant is fantastic!! The food was amazing, the service was great. The only thing I could say is, I wish it had better signage.(took us a while to find it walking.) but then again maybe that's a good thing since the line outside took quite a while due to its popularity. But they were great, coming by with little drinks while you waited in line Definitely worth the wait!! read more

My visit came with high expectations and it was amazing. Starting with warm chai while waiting, the delicious food (Ruby Chicken, House Dal, Lamb Samosa) was only surpassed by stellar service from Maya, Bryan, and Helen. Great work team! read more

4.5 stars - wow. This was an experience. I was given this as a recommendation, along with the advice "go for lunch". We wound up going for an early dinner before the theatre, and if we'd waited any longer to get in the queue, we never would have made the show. The place is enormous, with two levels of seating, and they pack it in here, with it being easy to see why. Definitely reserve a table if you don't want to wait out on the street. They advertise themselves as an Iranian-style cafe in Bombay, and though I can't vouch for either of those, the food was damn good. Our waiter worked with us to select the amount and type of food that worked best for what we wanted, and that was very helpful. The menu is definitely not the standard fare that we get in the USA at many of our Indian restaurants. The smell is unreal once you finally get seated at your table, and it's loud and chaotic and totally worth the wait. read more

We went to the Covent gardens location. We could not get a reservation but they accepted walk ins. We arrived just as breakfast was ending and lunch was starting. They had amazing oat milk chai and my son had a vegan mango lassi. They had vegan and gf options and all the food was good. The puris that hubby got were a bit burned and the charged per extra puri requested. Service was good and the place was very busy. Definitely a family favourite!! read more

Have only been here for brunch so that's what I'm basing my review off. The unlimited house chai is so good. We did the chili cheese toast and English breakfast. The total was just ok; thought it was too cheesy and could have used more egg/spices. The English breakfast with the masala beans was good tho, although I thought the beans would have more of an Indian twist. Service and decor of the place was also really nice. Overall it was a good experience and I'll definitely be back for dinner next time I'm in London. read more

Food was excellent service excellent. Two thing's bothered me. The dishes we ordered were indeed very tasty however the amount of chicken or beef they included is minuscule. It's mostly sauce with maybe 3-4 very small pieces of chicken. The other thing is that this place is Super Expensive $$$$$$$$$ read more

If you like Indian food but are wary of the consistently great reviews (and long lines at some of their locations) - come here! The food is worth it! Food/drinks: We were advised to get 6 plates to share for 2, and ended up with dahl, fried mutton, veggie bowl, naan, roti, and - my personal favorite - fish cooked in banana leaves. It was slightly more food than we needed but with the explosive flavors and tender preparation, was worth every bite. Service: It was fine. We were seated quickly for lunch, our server explained the menu and gave good suggestions. They did get busy so we had to flag her down for the bill. Ambiance: Memorable. We sat inside on the main floor, but it's worth a peak at the lower level as well. There were so many thoughtful details pointing to an Indian-British nostalgic vibe, down to the toilets in the ladies bathroom. Also fun to see the open kitchen. Highly recommend. When in London you have to indulge in some of the best Indian food around. Everything here is on point - the ambiance, service, attentiveness, approachability, menu variety, and most importantly taste! It was an exceptional experience from start to finish. I made a reservation a couple of weeks in advance and was able to get one no issue - there was a pretty big line out the door when I got there, so make a reservation if you can (but the line did move pretty well, so don't let a line dissuade you from eating a great meal here either). Once seated I was immediately greeted by my server who walked me through a few menu highlights. I ordered the House Chai (must get - it is the best I have ever had; rich and spicy), Okra fries (delicious and crispy), Paneer Roti Roll (soft Roti with paneer and spices, what is not to love) and the Chicken Ruby (standout of the meal, decadently flavorful curry perhaps best I have ever had). It was a ton of food, but it was the best full I have felt in a while. Loved every minute of it. Put this place on your list! read more

Wow, what an experience! I had high expectations of Dishoom's given the reviews and it did not disappoint. They had inquired about dietary restrictions and I mentioned that I have a gluten sensitivity so they offered a completely separate menu for those with gluten allergies. I ordered the chicken ruby which was like a butter chicken and perfectly spiced. The greens were a nice addition, along with the gunpowder potatoes and the kuchumber (very light and refreshing). I can't wait to come back to try more items!!! read more

This place was highly recommended by friends and colleagues for my trip to London. It is well worth all the hype. We went on a Friday evening so there was a line outside but they were getting through it in a very good speed and seemed very efficient. They also offered us some complimentary chai and nimbu soda while waiting in the queue. The wait was about 25 mins which would have easily taken more than an hour at other places. They welcomed us in and gave a few options for the tables and seated us at a place of choice. The server checked in on us about any allergies before taking our order. I had the Permit Room Old Fashioned which was served in a small bottle with a cork which I then poured into the glass. We got the highly recommended fried okra which was definitely worth it. We also got the Dishoom House Chaat and Gunpowder Potatoes which were very flavorful. For mains, I had the Butter Ruby with Roomali Roti which were delicious and cooked really well. The servers were very attentive and helpful. The place has a great vibe and is very lively, the bombay and Bollywood themes are very well done. Overall it's definitely a must visit restaurant in London. read more

What an experience! When I told people that we were going to be visiting London, all I heard was "You have to go to Dishoom!" My husband and I let's just say has not always gravitated towards Indian food. But we could not ignore all the rave reviews. We arrived closer to 8:30pm on a Wednesday and there was a line. However it went pretty quickly and we were seated in around 20 minutes. We were also treated to lemonade and chai while waiting, which I found to be a sweet gesture. Inside was lovely! Warm and inviting ambiance, (a tad noisy), but it's a popular place. Whatcha gonna do? Our server was helpful and gave us a run down of all the most popular dishes. A friend told me to get the Black Dahl and it really was extremely tasty. The meal was wonderful overall. The biggest rave review was my husband who "never liked Indian food" and was begging to go back before we left London. TLDR: Great atmosphere for a visitor, good food and friendly! Well deserved reputation - This was the most commonly suggested place people told me to go when I said I was visiting London and they weren't wrong! The staff was one of the only friendly service experiences we had in the UK - it was raining outside while we were briefly waiting and they brought us complimentary umbrellas and chai teas! They really made a great first impression before we walked into a huge elaborately decorated lounge and got cocktails while our table was prepared. Full experience - Candidly the food is very good standard Indian fare, no complaints at all but it really is the entirety of the experience that was a memorable time for us. read more

We got lucky getting a table here when we did. This restaurant is very busy so prepare to wait at least an hour or more. Now for the burning question, is it worth the wait?! Absolutely! The food was phenomenal! So phenomenal that we enjoyed the worst vegetable in the world (my opinion), okra. So try the okra fries if you're feeling a little adventurous. The server was very helpful and provided info about which dishes are popular. Quite frankly, we allowed him to choose the dishes for us and everything came out great. If you're curious about the quality, you can go downstairs and you will see the kitchen (yes, completely open to the public) you can literally stand next to them as they make the food. The restroom is also downstairs so maybe not as accessible to certain individuals with disabilities. The overall vibe was very hip kind of like a lounge. You can order drinks and sit outside while waiting for your table to be ready. We really enjoyed the food, the ambience and service. We will come again. read more

Amazing Bombay food with an Irani twist. All the food we had was spot on! Our fav was actually the Murgh Malai (although most people recommend the Ruby Chicken). The Murgh Malai is chicken thigh meat that is juicy, tender, and cooked to perfection (still slightly pink) and tops the ruby chicken imo. It's super flavorful and not your typical chicken thigh. Be sure to order 3-4 items per person, and don't forget the house chai! read more

Best meal I've had in London, hands down. You have to come pretty early to avoid a wait, as the place fills up quickly with a long line through the night - even weekdays. And for good reason! This meal surpassed all our expectations - probably the best Indian food we've had and the best food we've had in London. I highly recommend the Daal and chicken ruby. We were hesitant to order a vegetarian dish at first, but this ended up being our favourite dish - so uniquely flavourful, I still dream about it. The lamb chops were good, but not that unique like the other dishes. For dessert, I recommend the chocolate pudding. The spice in the ice cream was a fun and unique twist. read more

Dishoom came highly recommended from one of my wife's colleagues at work. Definitely recommended to come early if you can, because by the time we were done there was already a line building outside. Very popular restaurant with the locals and tourists. Located in a very bustling part of Covent Garden, there's many places to choose from for a good meal. But I would definitely tell friends and family to try Dishoom. Service was great, and the vibe was almost borderline casual to classy. I can see Dishoom being a great first date pick. Server was quick to get us seated and the best when it came to making good recommendations. I didn't like the drink I initially ordered, she had no hesitations in taking my drink back and getting me something better. Which was the Bombay Colada, super good choice. Went with the chef's special for the fish, and oh my lord. There's so much flavor packed into the dish, it was amazing. The sauce gave it an extra flavor I didn't know I needed to try. But so worth it. Everything on the menu looked good and worth trying. If I come back, I'm definitely making my was to Dishoom again. Wonderful experience and fantastic food. Thank you! read more

The chicken tika was excellent, the taste of everything else was on par with run of the mill Indian restaurants in New York City. The portions here however are very small. The service was OK, but not excellent. I got the sense that the staff (hosts and waitstaff) were overly full of themselves. One host boasted that he knew the food was great here because he was from India. The waiter needed our assistance in clearing the table. The decor was very nice. I think I was let down by the overall hype I have heard about Dishoom for years. If you've been to an excellent Indian restaurant, don't expect to be impress with the food. read more

This place is a 10/10. Awesome interior, vibe, food & service. Don't let the line turn you away. We were seated in 20 minutes and given complimentary tea while waiting in the cold. Wouldn't change a thing that we ordered. Our server walked us through his suggestions and how many plates to order from each section and he steered us in the right direction. - Chilli Chicken - our absolute favorite of the night. Super spicy but amazing. - chicken ruby- get the basmati rice on the side - garlic naan - house chaat- perfect to eat on side with chilli chicken. The yogurt sauce and coolness of this dish evened the spice out. - lamb somosas - masala prawns - was weary of ordering but multiple workers said it was their fave. What's the hype about this place ? Long lines, waiting outside in the cold in London? Well it was my third time here, I tend to visit this place when in London. You can make reservations online but will not be able to find the time slot you want, that's how busy this restaurant is. So you have to go there, put your name down and wait in the line. Well now they have outdoor heaters that keep you warm while you wait. Our wait was about 20min it wasn't that bad compared to previous times. While you wait they offer you spicy Indian tea which is yum. We finally get seated and they thankfully ask about allergies which we had. The minute we said nut allergies we were presented with a thick binder of menu items and ingredients. Of course no guarantee with cross contamination as pre packed ingredients come from other facilities. Manager also came and spent good 10min with us to answer any questions and review the menu with us. This experience was amazing as a parent seeing the care they had for my child and yes there was the liability piece but again they cared. So service was exceptional!! Let's talk food- Fish wrapped in banana leaf- messy but worth it. Fish was spicy and SO flavorful. Just thinking about it makes me want to fly to London again. Being Indian and familiar with Indian cooking and spices I sat there eating and wondering how they cooked it so well that the fish was so tender and each bite had so many flavors that the fish didn't break while cooking. This fish went well with their basmati rice and romali roti. Chicken tikka which we ordered for my son who has nut allergies was a little to spicy for his taste buds. Unfortunately they don't change their spice level to accommodate dietary requirements. Sheesh kebabs that my husband ordered was to point. Enough flavors and spice level. He wished the portion was a little bigger. Food came with a trio chutney which had mint, some spicy sauce and something else which I couldn't tell what it was. Overall tasty food, a little pricey but that's what you pay for eating at a high end restaurant. When in London check it out! read more

This was our favorite restaurant in London. The food, service and ambiance - everything was a 10. The cocktail and food menus are both extensive. We didn't make a reservation so we waited in line outside and we're given the option of a cup of chai tea or wine. Once we were called in, we waited in the bar area for about 20 minutes before our table was ready. We ordered 3 appetizers (dishoom house chaat, khichia & chundo and pau bhaji) which were all phenomenal. This was enough to share between 4 people while waiting for the main dishes. The main course included 2 orders of chicken ruby, an order of mattar paneer, and garlic and cheese naan. Everything was absolutely delicious. So much flavor and spice, every bite was a treat. Looking forward to traveling to London again, this will definitely be on the list! read more

We had planned to come to Dishoom during our stay in London as we saw this is one of the most popular restaurants. We saw a long line outside, but still decided to put our name down. We ended up waiting outside for about 40 minutes. A worker came out with chai tea as we waited outside, which tasted delicious. Our waiter was attentive and shared some of the popular dishes. We ordered a lot for our group of 4! We got Vegetable samosas, Okra fries, Lamb chops, Vada pau, Prawn koliwada, Chicken tikka, Murgh malai, Chili butter Bhutta, Kachunber salad and the Garlic naan. All were delicious, although powerful spices. If you enjoy Indian cuisine, dine here! read more

I was so excited to try Dishoom on my trip to London after hearing from multiple coworkers and my sister that they all went twice!! Lol. And of course Tiktok, which didn't influence me as much as the personal recommendations, but I did salivate over what I'd seen. I get the hype. The ambience, the food, the service is all amazing. I went for dinner time AND breakfast time. I made reservations for both and avoided the long queue that I'd been warned of. So if you don't mind an earlier dinner.. 16:45 reservation is my piece of advice because that line I saw when we left was no joke haha. They take reservations of any size before 1700 or 1800 if I'm not mistaken, otherwise you'll be a walk-in on line. For dinner we started off with the chili cheese toast.. which to be honest, I think we could have lived without. It was just spicy cheese on bread, I didn't care for it but I feel like I was ordering with my eyes when I went for it lol. Not knocking off a star for it because other people may like it. Not pictured (because Yelp won't accept video shots right now for some reason) is the famous chicken ruby, garlic naan, some regular basmati rice, and murgh malai chicken thighs. The chicken ruby was significant, yes, but the murgh malai won it for me this night! Also, I want a chocolate chai at this moment. I cry. Anyway.. The food came out pretty fast, so once again.. service is a thumbs up. BUT the real star of this review? Breakfast! THE BIG BOMBAY. OMG. WOW! What a spin on an English breakfast. The eggs. The sausage. The flavor. Yum yum yum, I yearn for it. It was a large serving so my fiance and I split and we left freakin' stuffed! See you in a future visit, Dishoom! read more

My boyfriend and I had a good laugh as foreign visitors because the staff sounded so apologetic when they said there'd be a 20 minute wait. It ended up being 30 minutes, which was no big deal, especially given how good the food was. We've waited over an hour for way worse food back in the United States. I mean, they even served free house chai as we waited in line. The atmosphere of Dishoom is fun and warm-- and it was packed! The noise of other people only added to the pleasant busyness of the restaurant. Overall, the food at Dishoom was intense, but delicious, especially if you like spicy food. Unfortunately, I'm terrible at handling spice, but even so I enjoyed the food a lot. My boyfriend can handle spicy food a lot better than I can, and he was in heaven. He still talks about Dishoom months later. Vada pav: So spicy, but so good. I truly wish my spice tolerance were better because this was delicious. Lamb samosas: Delicious, also spicy. Chutneys were nice. Spicy lamb chops: Something in the seasonings reminded me a lot of Ethiopian dishes. Chicken ruby coconut cream and tomato: Most obviously suited to my taste and I wasn't wrong. Yummy. Garlic naan: Can't go wrong. Black daal: The less than best dish for me, only because it had too much cumin for my taste. The only bad thing was that it was so hard to get ahold of our waiter throughout the meal, especially when it came time for the bill. Maybe we just didn't know the proper custom? read more

Cannot say enough good about this place. Lamb chops? Get two orders. The shrimp special? That too. The lamb samosas? The monk fish curry? The papadam? Each dish was better than the last. Dishoom came highly recommended by a few people we know and we 100% can see why. Great space, great restaurant, great service. From the host, to the server, to the runners. The only things we might change? Is that we want to go back and are not sure we have time to do that while here. Highly, highly recommend. So good. Kudos to the whole restaurant.
