For a really popular place, we were pretty disappointed and pricey for the serving size. The interior is thoughtfully designed and worth seeing once. Lamb samosas (8.7): it was okay? Dishoom chicken tikka (14.9): NOT tikka masala! We were between this and the chicken ruby but were told it's just like butter chicken and were recommended this-- the highlight, chicken flavorful and tender, and I liked the pickled sides House black daal (11.7): their signature dish-- decent, pretty heavy and filling but nothing to sing about Roomali Roti (5.5): we were going to get the garlic naan, but the waiter said that's something you can get anywhere so we got the roti which he recommended-- however, this completely lacked flavor. I've had better roti in Malaysia and in the US lol Garlic naan (5.5): we ultimately got this because we didn't like the roti, but this also the garlic flavor was not shining through Other recommended dishes: chicken berry britannia with raita, charred lamb chops, murgh malai, okra fries Tip: you have to buy the rice, naan etc separately. Also heads up there's a 12.5% service charge.
I've been waiting for months to finally try Dishoom. We were starving by the time we arrived for iur reservation so we got plenty of food. We ordered the chicken ruby, the black daal which is their speciality, pav bhaji, bhel, biryani and garlic naan. The food tasted very comforting and not spicy l. The service was great and our waiter was attentive.
Having originally only went to Dishoom's Carnaby location, I came here for the first time because this is my friend's preferred Dishoom location. I see why she prefers coming here! The restaurant has gotta be like 4x the size of Carnaby. Not just that, the ambience is way better here. The tables are way more spaced out, so you don't feel super cramped. The open space helps negate the strong Indian spices that emanate from the kitchen. And it just feels way more comfortable. Anyways, our reservation was right at the tail end of the breakfast menu hours and right before the regular menu began, so we were able to get a Sausage & Egg Naan Roll to start. Also had the Lamb Biryani, Goan Monkfish Curry, Mutton Pepper Fry, and Murgh Malai. I mean basically everything at Dishoom is great, and this was no exception. Service was fantastic. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming! I love Dishoom, so you'll have to find a reason for me to not come here. Really good stuff!
Came here after many recommendations from friends and my Instagram feed--and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The vibe is warm and lively, the service was great, and the food was delicious . The Paneer, House Black Daal, roti and parathas, crispy okra, chai and lassi were all delicious. Definitely worth the wait, and I'd happily come back when in London!!
I'm probably going to get some hate for this but I only thought our meal was ok. Which bummed me out because I've been dying to try this place for years! We started with some yummy cocktails and the okra fries which were delicious - if only okra always tasted this good. For mains, we shared the chicken tikka, black daal, paneer and garlic naan. Pretty standard Indian order. The chicken tikka was just too spicy and we weren't used to that so it went mainly eaten. My favorite was the black daal but again, it wasn't so amazing that I would go and have it again. Honestly the best dish we had was dessert - the basmati kheer is a perfect rice pudding with crème brûlée like topping. So good. Service was spotty, I constantly found myself trying to find our server or make eye contact with him. They were slammed on a Tuesday night (which I'm sure is the case every night) so that's probably just the way things are but it could've been better. Disappointed but willing to try again, also made me want to try some other Indian spots in London next.
Went here yesterday for a celebration dinner. On the plus side, the restaurant is huge, tons and tons of seating. Prices aren't terrible. Food was really good, definitely some of the better Indian we've had. That said, service was slow and our celebration--which was acknowledged by the host enthusiastically--seemed to have been forgotten. A note: the dishes are not prepared to order so you can't choose your own spice level. One in our party ordered something that was delicious but couldn't be finished because it was too hot. I recommend it but it wouldn't be my every day choice for Indian.
Dishoom was incredible, my favorite meal in London! Everything was simple but perfectly well done - flavors were so good and delicious and everything we got was a great choice. We got pau bhaji to start, then naan, chicken ruby, and mattar paneer. I wish we got the daal too but we were full. They were also so generous and brought us complementary ice cream for my mom's birthday. We also got the shrikhand dessert, which truthfully wasn't really shrikhand but was still very yummy! Service was great and I really loved the vibe and interior decor of the place. Highly recommend if you are visiting London!
How did I not know Dishoom existed until now? Visiting London from California, this ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. It has to be some of the best Indian food I've had outside of India. The little complimentary chai while you wait in line is such a thoughtful touch and really sets the tone. Even though there was a queue, it moved surprisingly quickly. Once inside, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. As for the food... every dish we ordered was outstanding. Rich flavors, perfectly balanced spices, and you can tell a lot of care goes into every plate. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. If you're in London, don't overthink it. Just get in line, enjoy the chai, order what sounds good, and have a fantastic meal. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town.
Located in Covent Garden, you'll find this highly rated, recommended restaurant. The restaurant itself is pretty big. The seating area upstairs is spacious and there's a downstairs too. The staff are nice and polite and helpful with recommendations and today we ordered the Dishoom House Chaat, which was so good. Than the Biryani Lamb. Oh boy the lamb inside was so tender, so delicious and lastly we got the Chicken Ruby that was good and had a really nice kick to it. I can see why it's so popular. I definitely want to eat here again if we have time I would love to try their other dishes.
We had wonderful service here! Dishoom is a popular place but the dinner line for 3 on a weeknight wasn't too bad (they don't take reservations), I thought the line moved fairly fast and at some point they handed out small sample cups of chai to us which was nice. It's very spacious inside. Although their black bean dish Black House Daal is popular, I don't think it's something I'd reorder because I don't like beans that much in general. As a chicken tikka masala fan, I enjoyed their butter chicken the most. It's the closest thing they have to chicken tikka masala--which they don't have, they only have chicken tikka which is dry and quite spicy, has no creamy sauce. I also liked the okra fried, which is a type of fry I'm not used to seeing! It's got flavor, and I also loved the chutney and sauces on the table! I enjoyed a Dishoom Margarita which was strong in alcohol content and flavor, and a nice addition to the meal. They have an interesting drink menu, where you will find lots of nonalcoholic and rather healthy options! They have a small shelf in the middle of the room where they sell some of their chai and cookbooks amongst other things.
Dishoom absolutely lived up to the hype! We were a little nervous because we didn't have reservations, but the staff was incredibly accommodating and found a way to get us seated. It was well worth the weight. We ordered lamb samosas, sheekh kebab, chicken ruby, and both the garlic and onion naan. Every dish was packed with incredible flavor, and it was easy to see why this has such a loyal following. The chicken rub was especially outstanding, and the noun was the perfect accompaniment. The service made the experience even better. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to offer recommendations that did not disappoint. This was one of our favorite meals on our London trip. We only wish they would open a location in the United States!
Some days this place would be jam packed, but other days I passed by, it seems chill. I recommend making reservations if you can. I came here on a weekday night and waited about one hour for a party of five. While waiting in line, they offered a cup of hot chai tea which was perfect for the cold weather. The chai is absolutely delicious. The Chicken Ruby, Okra Fries, and Masala Prawns were my favorite dishes. House Black Daal is their signature dish, which is good to try. The restaurant is dimly lit for an intimate family dinner, but a bit loud. The restrooms are clean. The staff is friendly. I only give them 4/5 because the curries are pretty comparable to places I've been to before, but if I have to recommend one dish and one drink - Okra Fries and Chai Tea.
Was recommended to come here by a lot of people! Food: The food was so warm and tasted to fresh. The chicken ruby tasted so good with the rice and garlic nan! I loved the lentils with the nan! The sauces they gave were very lovely paired with everything. Service: Our waitress was very sweet and knowledgeable with the menu. We told her it is our first time and she broke down the menu items for us! Very sweet of her to do so. Overall: I would recommend this place to other people and possibly come back in the future when I revisit London! Food was pretty high quality and so were the people working there. The restaurant is pretty big and spacious too!

Went to London for the first time and this was on the "must eat" places recommended from many of my friends! We got lucky and got there before there was a line around the block since they don't do reservations, so we got seated right away! I sadly forgot to take photos of the food but we got the chili chicken appetizer and it was a great amount of spice and tasted really good. We ended up both getting the ruby chicken for our entree as well and it was similar to a butter chicken but more spice and flavor. Our waiter made sure to point out that it didn't come with rice or naan so we ordered one order of garlic naan to split and it was the perfect amount for both of us and a grad additional to the entree! You could tell this place is popular as all the tables were bustling and full but it didn't take away from the experience! I got a mondo brewing beer to drink and sadly was the only photo I took. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because while the food was good, I feel like this place was slightly overhyped. Everyone mentions that it's the best Indian food they've had but it didn't significantly stand out to me in comparison to restaurants I've tried in the past. Still recommend regardless!! read more

We were recommended this spot by a friend and it did not disappoint! Huge variety and everything was full of deep and rich spices. Portions slightly smaller than expected but given the price, a great option. Large restaurant inside and still very busy until the close. The naan was very well made and fluffy. The okra fries were very crispy and my favorite. read more

I've had the House Black Daal twice and it has been delicious! Everything is fresh. Every time I've visited Dishoom it's been a line to get in and extremely busy, despite the rush the service is good! The servers are still attentive and work together to create a good experience for all. Will always have a good dinner to enjoy anytime I'm in London. read more

Cannot recommend Dishoom more, but this location in particular was incredible! This restaurant was recommended to me by someone back in the USA, so when my partner and I found we were near one we decided to give it a try. There was a very long line outside, but a nice employee said if we decided to sit outside we can sit right away. Once at the front desk they assumed we wanted to be at the bar and we were accidentally placed there. We met a lovely bartender who had us try some wines, but we weren't on the list. After about 15 minutes the bartender went out of his way to get our names on the list! Then when our table was ready, there was confusion with my name and another name on the waitlist, so they got our table first. Within 5 minutes they realized their mistake and as a courtesy, comped our drinks. This wasn't necessary but so greatly appreciated. Once sat, the waitress gave Incredible insight into the menu as well as amazing recommendations. Everything we ate was delicious, my partner said it was in her Top 5 best meals ever. If we were in town longer, we'd be going back a few more times. Thank you for the hospitality, we will be back! read more

We went for brunch and it did not disappoint. The ambiance is beautiful and welcoming. Service was great, our server was nice, attentive, and very helpful with our questions about the menu and London in general. She also was on it with the chai refills which was appreciated! Don't be afraid if you can't find reservations: what we learned is that dishoom prefers walk ins so they have limited reservations. We walked in and were seated immediately. Unlimited chai, which was amazing...different milk options too. The masala beans were the star for us, i legit could've eaten those all day and think about them sometimes . We also got the Kejriwal and Akuri which were pretty good. read more
Food 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Service 5/5 You'll likely have to wait anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour for a table depending on the timing and your group size, but it's well worth it. They will sometimes pass out drinks to those waiting in line which is a nice touch. The food is stellar, though a bit different from your typical Indian restaurant in that it's more of a small plates style. Since portions are smaller, they recommend at least 2-3 plates per person here. My favorite was the Dishoom House Chaat, a dish that was recommended by our waiter. Note that unlike other Indian restaurants, they don't ask you for a preferred spice level on their dishes, so if you're particularly sensitive to spice, ask your waiter for specific recommendations. Ambiance is lively and there are neat booths downstairs where you can control the music level and (if I remember correctly) the fan as well- something I haven't seen at another restaurant. Bathrooms are also quite nice and clean- something that is always hugely appreciated in a big city like London. I will be making this a regular spot for anytime I'm in London! read more
We came for breakfast on a Monday so we were able to bypass the usual line. If coming for dinner, I would definitely recommend making reservations. I had the pancakes and bacon naan for breakfast. Both were delicious. Despite the toffee sauce, the pancakes weren't overly sweet. The bacon naan has a nice tomato jam to help balance the bacon. Apparently the chai is bottomless and I missed the memo l until we were cashing out. Lesson learned. The kitchen downstairs smells incredible so I'll definitely be checking them out for dinner another day. read more
The food was sooo amazing I forgot to take pictures before I ate it all. Dishoom is an absolute must if you are in london. Make sure you make a reservation or else you will have a wait!!! The ambiance is so nice and the staff is super attentive. The Ruby chicken was amazing. The tandoori chicken was juicy with just the right amount of charcoal grill. The garlic naan was perfect to dip in the sauce. Ugh- I will forever dream about this meal!!! read more
Came here for an early lunch when passing through the UK a while back and wow...the best indian food I have eaten out at a restaurant!! I generally don't eat indian food out because my parents are amazing cooks and we can enjoy good food from the comfort of our home most times. Before I came to the UK, numerous people raved about Dishoom telling me it was a must go! We had a quick stopover in the UK and made it a priority to come here! One thing to note is that they have breakfast hours where they serve a completely different menu from the regular lunch/dinner food. We had showed up early and they were still serving brunch. Call and check this in advance because we ended up waiting over an hour in the restaurant to get lunch food! Nonetheless, the wait was worth it! The ambiance of this spot it really pleasant and unique. We were treated so wonderfully by the staff and service was quite quick once lunch opened. We ordered a few different entrees -- chili chicken, chicken, daal, chicken tikka, and naan. We also got a mango lassi and rice on the side. The food was amazing! Flavors were solid, and meat was tender. I highly recommend all the dishes we ordered because I would 100% order them all again. read more
The best Indian food in all of London! We were in town for a week and literally came here twice during our visit because it was so good. We pretty much ordered one of everything on the menu and the server had to move us to a bigger table!!! Every single thing we ordered was phenomenal. I love the aesthetic of the place and the way they have to line up outside but then you get to go inside and have drinks for the remainder of time you are on the waiting list. Highly recommend giving this place a try! read more
Third visit to Dishoom and as usual it did not disappoint. I had the Shrimp Kohliwada and the Bhel Puri this time and neither dish disappointed the shrimp were cooked just right and not overdone. The Bhel was crispy and chutneys were spot on. Will return again on the next visit to London read more

After hearing so many rave reviews about Dishoom, I knew it was up top on my list of spots to try during my recent trip to London. Overall, I would give a strong 3.5 stars out of 5. Each dish was extremely flavorful on its own, but I personally found them to be a bit overwhelming when eaten together. The Chicken Ruby was probably my favorite dish out of the five we ordered, with the Prawn Koliwada coming in a very close second. The interior designs were extremely cool and cozy, and the atmosphere was quite intimate. I probably wouldn't do the 50 minute wait outdoors again (especially in the winter), but would probably return for a special occasion with close friends and family. Still definitely worth a visit if you have never been! read more

Finally tried the famous Dishoom on a recent trip to London. I was prepared for a long line for dinner and I think in total it took about 45 minutes for my party of 1. While in line the passed out samples of their chai which was a great way to get ready for the meal. I was seated in the back courtyard which was perfect though I will say the action seems to be downstairs with hustle and bustle. For my meal I got the vegetable samosas (phenomenal!), garlic naan, and the chicken ruby. There were so many options to choose from I would've liked to split a few things with friends to really get a sampling. Overall a nice experience! read more

WOW!!! If it is your final night in London, do not leave without dining at Dishoom. * Spicy Lamb Chops * Chicken Ruby * Raita * Kachumber * Garlic Naan * Peacock Cider Every single item we ordered was outstanding!!!! Everything. The cider included. The lamb chops stole the show. Thick, succulent, herb-spiced. I have never had lamb chops like this before. Even our waiter said these were his top 3 chops he has ever had. I would agree. You will want to eat all of the meat to the bone. The Chicken Ruby, their name for "curry" has tender, succulent chunks of chicken that has been marinated for 24+ hours in a nutty, butter sauce. There are no nuts (my friend is allergic) but the flavor is hearty and earthy. So good! Raita could have been a little thicker but the flavor made up for that. Kachumber reminded me of a greek salad but with cilantro (coriander) and green chili peppers. The lime brings a balances the dish and cuts the spice from the chili pepper nicely. While I have had better garlic Naan, it was not a disappointment. I washed everything down with a glass of Peacock Cider and hope to be able to find it back in the states. Beautiful interior decor that is modern, and stylish without being flashy. Perfect for a date or a night out with friends. On my next visit to London I will absolutely return to Dishoom. read more
Indian Flavors From Bombay with Love is Dishoom's signature phrase and with multiple locations in London, it's clear that Dishoom is a hit with locals and visitors alike Indian cuisine is the most cited must-try cuisines in London and I was glad we made reservations to Dishoom's Covent Garden location Lines were out the door our whole meal and reached 1.5 hours long and Dishoom has been on the scene for several years Their winning formula includes accessible dishes, stellar flavors, creative drinks and shareable plates perfect for big and small groups alike I enjoyed my dinner so much that I returned the next morning to try their signature breakfast naan and it was definitely a trip highlight Wrestler's Naan (Peppery Bacon, Sausage and Runny Yolked Egg) £10.50 / Prawn Koliwada £8.50 / Okra Fries £5.70 / Chicken Ruby £13.50 / Spicy Lamb Chops £15.90 / Gunpowder Potatoes £6.90 / Tila-Foi's Very Best Masala Fish £18.50 / House Black Daal £7.50 / Roomali Roti £3.50 / Mango & Fennel Lassi £4.40 / Rose & Cardamon Lassi £4.40 / Mango Kulfi £4.50 Dishoom Covent Garden (London, United Kingdom) Dishoom accepts credit cards and is mainly indoor dining with a small section of patio. read more
I had to come back to Dishoom. The wait was about 45mins and and they were so kind to be handing out chai and wine. Our waiter was so nice and explained the menu. The food was sooo good! The naan was extra soft. The drinks were strong, as they should be I will definitely be coming back. This location is convenient and close to bars/pubs and the theater. read more
Super cool atmosphere!! There was a line out the door, it was frigid outside and they handed out complimentary chai! The food is really good, different then what I'm used to but really good. The service was excellent and you felt waited on hand and foot!! If you haven't heard it of Dishoom or haven't been and you make to London, it's a must !! read more

One of the best and most consistently great restaurants in London. This is one of my regular go-to's and somewhere I like take people who are coming from out of town. There are multiple locations each with a slightly different ambiance but the food is always good at each of them. My typical order includes the following: Prawn koliwada: This is a great starter that comes in a cute bowl filled with succulent prawns that come with some heat. They are slightly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. They pair well with any of the sauces and chutneys they bring to your table. I like to mix the spicy and mild together (orange/red and green sauces) Garlic cheese naan: I mean, is there a better combination? The naan has a great cheese pull and is filled with chilli's for a perfect light kick. Chicken tikka: no, this isn't chicken tikka masala. This is grilled chicken thighs with some lovely seasoning and comes with a coriander (cilantro) and red onion garnish. Simple but executed well 24 hour daal: do yourself a favour and order this. These lentils have been stewing away for 24 hours and are a great component with your meal. Creamy texture and flavourful, quite comforting. Chilli chicken: my second favorite small dish. This chicken packs quite some spice but it's a can't miss dish. The chicken is crunchy and gently coated with a chilli sauce that isn't overbearing in terms off the amount. So, you want to dine here? They only take reservations for larger groups which means you have to queue (wait in line) but it's absolutely worth it. You can put your name in and grab a nice drink from the bar but do expect at least an hour wait so you can factor that in to when you arrive. Happy eating! read more

LOVE this spot! I tried going to the Kings Cross location twice after work and both times, there was a line so I didn't wait. I went to this location once too and there was also a line so I didn't wait. I then finally went online to make a reservation, and the only available reservations were around 4:30PM/5PM, which is usually too early for me except for the day I went! I made a reservation for 5:15PM and I think I got there a bit early, probably around 5PM. I was seated immediately and there was no line yet, but while I was there, the line outside grew and grew. So happy I made a reservation! Anyway, the food. I was given a quick rundown of the menu and recommendations without asking for them, and I ended up getting: - mango & fennel lassi: I've had mango lassis before but never with fennel seeds (although to be honest, I don't think the fennel seeds added anything). - pau bhaji which is mashed vegetables with bread: A bit light on the flavor for the vegetables but the bread was perfectly toasted, soft inside and crunchy outside. - tila foi which is fish wrapped in a banana leaf: The fish was a tad spicy but super flavorful, and I enjoyed the pink yogurt that came on the side with it. - garlic naan: The naan was a bit flat for my taste, not chewy, and very oily - that was probably my least favorite item from everything I ordered. - basmati kheer: This almost looked like a creme brulee with a caramelized, burnt top, and underneath it was rice pudding. Not too sweet which I appreciated, and the blueberry compote on top was delicious, wish there was more of it. Everything was super flavorful and unique! I really enjoyed the food here. Service was quite good too although I had to ask for utensils; my server looked confused that I didn't have any. Food was pretty pricey although I did order a lot, came out to be around 45 GBP. Would highly recommend, but definitely make a reservation! There's also pretty good wifi here. read more
