Dishoom is clearly not a secret, the long queue(lines) will tell you that. But it's so worth the wait and they also kindly give you chai tea or maybe a house made lemonade while you wait. The food is delicious, we make it a point to come twice whenever we are in London. Here's what we get: Chili Chicken, Garlic naan, Lamb Chops, Raita, Chicken Biryani, Samosa's and a Peacock cider to cool down any spicy food. The inside is very large as it's two levels, but it's extremely cozy and the service is always great. read more

Been wanting to try out Dishoom for the longest time as it is the most reviewed place in London, insane considering there are other world-famous landmarks like the Big Ben and the British Museum. Made a reservation online and was seated promptly in a cute dome-shaped booth. - Chicken Ruby - This is essentially butter chicken and I really enjoyed the flavor which had hints of ginger in it. The chicken was also very tender and flavorful. My one complaint though is that the dish didn't come with naan or rice and this is given that you know, so you do have to order an extra side in order for the main dish to not be so salty. - Garlic Naan - Good relief from the saltiness of the chicken ruby. To be honest, you couldn't really taste the garlic bit of it, so I wouldn't say you have to order the garlic flavored naan. Overall, pretty solid Indian place. Not sure if it lives up to the hype of being the most reviewed place in London but the food was all-around very good. My other only complaint is that it was my friend's birthday and they gave us a dessert to celebrate with a candle. The dessert was good but it was not free which is what it usually is in America, so that was a bit disappointing but now I know. read more

Absolutely fantastic Indian; the line moves fast and I don't see how it's possible for them to crank out as much volume as they do with the high quality. All of the dishes were fantastic and I ate here twice in 3 days. My favorite was the black Daal and the carbs (garlic naan always so good) read more

Really great food with a variety of options--I think anyone visiting London should try it. Portions seem small but are quite filling. Service is friendly and they are very meticulous about food allergies and intolerances. They even go as far as having separate menus for dietary restrictions. The environment is very busy with louder music and they light incense throughout the restaurant. I've been here many times and the quality is great every time! My favorite dishes: chicken ruby, house black daal, mutton pepper fry, garlic naan, house chai read more

Every review, from friends to Yelp, deemed Dishoom to be the most elite Indian restaurant in London. Well, I was a bit underwhelmed. Granted, this was one visit with limited items ordered. The samosas were definitely the best part of the meal - crunchy, savory and mixed well with the variety of sauces they offered. The ruby chicken is their specialty, similar vibes to your butter chicken, and it was good. However, I thought the seasoning was lacking and wish the chicken was consistently tender. Overall, we came out of the restaurant fulfilled, but my expectations were definitely too high. Solid 4/5, I would check it out, but not worth the wait in line. Highly recommend making a reservation. . read more

This was one my favorite meals in London. We had the tandoori lamb chops, chicken tikka, biryani, and garlic naan. Everything was delicious. For dessert, we ordered the mango and rice pudding. I didn't make a reservation so there was a line outside the restaurant, however, it went by pretty fast. The service was good. I highly recommend it! read more

Looking for a place to have dinner while visiting London, England found Dishoom Indian Restaurant located in the Covent Gardens area on Yelp with really good reviews and it's just a 10 minute walk from our hotel. I called first and was greeted by host saying that although reservations are suggested for groups of six or more people that accept walk ins of smaller groups. Once we arrived on Monday night found that their was a line of about 50 people waiting to get in and saying how good the food is and we'll worth the wait. We decided to stay and enjoyed nice conversation with locals that we also waiting in line. Host made it a point to take everyone on a list and also provided folks waiting with free beverage samples. We were seated about 45 minutes later and although this business was packed there were plenty of employees to handle flow of customers in very friendly and profesional manner. We ordered the fried Okra appetizer and yogurt with fruit flavored drinks that was amazing. Since we weren't familiar with their food we allowed our waiter Paul to suggest our salads and our main coarse based on our likes and preferentes. At end we were amazed how delicious our meal was and great service we received.from this Michelin star restaurant rated as #1 in London, England. Highly recommend this place read more

Dishoom came highly recommended by a friend. I didn't make a reservation because I figured it would be quick for a single person to get seated but I was wrong, it was still 30+ minute wait standing in line in the heat. The cocktails were delicious! I had the Fizz and the Cabana Colada which was amazing. The food was good but I think I set the bar too high. I got the veggie samosas which were good but nothing out of this world and I got the Veggie mash dish which came with a side of a roll. I would have preferred if it came with a side of Naan. I ordered that separately which was very tasty. read more

Wonderful food I'm a bustling setting. Everything prepared to perfection. The service was friendly and helped guide selections and portions. Best for groups with multiple share plates but works for couples and singles as well. Highly recommend getting a reservation because the waitlist line is quite long everyday of the week. Would consider this one of our top meals in London. Worth the wait and price is very reasonable for a high quality meal. read more

House chaat 8.65/10- sweet potato with the crisps was a great texture and flavor. Really enjoyed how they had chutney included House chai 7.32/10- it was okay, not as much of a chai flavor as expected. Way too hot when it first came out Masala fish 7.34/10- this was good, very spicy but flavorful but only due to the spices tbh. The fish was huge also Kebab 5.64/10- good however could use a lot more flavor and was also kind of small. The onions in compliments added a lot to the kebab Chicken 7.32/10- this was really good and juicy however it was also a bit bland, wish it had more spice to it Basmati rice 7.43/10- pretty average rice read more

Ok first I thought the place was called "Dishroom" up up until a couple days after I ate there and ended up passing it again... it's not called Dishroom so don't embarrass yourself like I did. The food was excellent! The entrees were all great that I tried but I would skip the seasoned potato appetizer that we ordered, it was good too but it wasn't at the same level as the entrees. Ambiance was perfect, wait staff gets an A+, and it's the perfect place to go and socialize. Pro tip: if there is a line outside you can get in line, then ask if there is space at the bar, they will let you sit at the bar and have drinks until your turn in line comes up and can move you to a table!!! read more

Very busy- waited in line for half an hour on a coldish May evening and had hot chai while waiting in line. I was told to visit the restaurant while in the UK. Service was very good- all staff very professional. Food - which was the primary reason for the visit is is 4 out of 5. House Daal - black daal - Smokey- couldn't eat too much. Romali Roti was good Okra - bhindi starter fries was good Paneer- 4/5 Tikka masala- 4/5 read more

Waited in line for an hour to get seated - the staff were very helpful as we waited and gave us regular updates and hot cups of free chai. The food is very good but I wouldn't say it was the "best Indian ever" like some of the reviews here describe - for example the house Chaat came with soggy potatoes and the lamb chops could have used more seasoning. Overall, our favorite was the Ruby chicken - it was a delight to try parsi cuisine as it's not very common back home in the US. The free chai was also excellent btw and I'm gonna look up the recipe to see if I can replicate at home! read more

While the food was amazing I think they may have forgotten about our table :/ they made up for it by giving us a free appetizer and dessert but we were waiting for our dinner for well over an hour while everyone else had already checked out. Hello mate thanks for following my journey to the uk. When I saw the line up the block like no joke, I know I must go in and check it out. The line moves quick so don't worry. Mine was half the block and took 30 mins for a party of 2. The place is huge. They don't take reservations has lots of places do in london. . BREAKFAST ASSAM (POT) Assam is the most well-liked tea-leaf in India. Malty, brisk and bright. 3.70 . So we sat down and tried their hot tea and bless my heart it was so temperature hot and it hit the spot. Perfect for a chilly night in london with rain. No other way to enjoy hot tea. . CHILLI BROCCOLI SALAD - this was really good and refreshing to the palette when needed. As well I love the veggies and this is what's in the salad, listed below. (HALF PORTION) Toasted pistachios and shredded mint leaves with finest, greenest broccoli, fresh red chillies, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, dates, lime and honey. (V) (S) 6.90 . ROOMALI ROTI ROLLS - this is what they use to roll the chicken Tikka rolls. Roomali Roti Rolls are made with delicate 'handkerchief' bread, baked and filled to order from midday until late at night. Best eaten with the hands. DISHOOM CHICKEN TIKKA ROLL - this was really good and like a sandwich but a lighter version. Reminds me of Costco deli rolls, but of course more fancy. The flavor was there. It's a good filler food. Listed below is what it consists of. Spicy charred chicken, lavish salad and tomato-chilli jam. (S) 10.50 . GRILLED MALAI MUSHROOMS - these are addicting and easily just non stop after the first bite. Listed below is what it consists of. King oyster and chestnut mushrooms with malai marination, char-grilled for bite and finished with butter, lime and masala. (V) 9.90 . CHICKEN RUBY - ok the sauce is to die for. Drench it in everything. Mine as well I say use it to shower myself if I can lol. So good. Reminds me of a chicken Tikka masala dish. One of my favorite sauce dish in london from trying all these wonderful Indian restaurants. Even mama t. Agreed with me. Listed below is what it consists of. Tender chicken in a rich, silky makhani sauce. A good and proper curry redolent with spice and flavour. 15.90 . Overall I was going to get a few more items but the server say I was ordering too much for 2 but we did finish it all lol. London portion is smaller compared to USA so of course we can do it, but I used the opportunity for portion control lol. So it was great service and we enjoy our experience. Thanks for reading and have a yelptastic day. Follow me for more travel eats. Cheers mate! read more

Loved the food and service staff. Unfortunately, very loud and crowded inside. Staff accommodated us by moving us to nice outdoor seating. Came here after waiting for an entire year! We wanted to eat around 8, so got in line at 7:30pm on a Sunday. We were in the restaurant after 30 minutes. They even brought out chai as we waited in line (on the house). The chai was awesome and I never drink chai! I will say the appetizers stole the show. The pav bhaji was so flavorful and the bread was so soft and buttery. The house chaat was the winner of the night. The sweet potato was cooked to perfection and the yogurt and pomegranate gave it the perfect crunch and taste. The matter paneer and paneer tikka was solid, but nothing I would crave immensely. The staff was so attentive and kept making sure we were good. Overall, worth the wait, and glad we came!! read more

This was recommended by my daughter on a vacation trip to London. There was a long line queue up for dinner. The attendant checked us in and said it should be a half hour wait surprised me as I expected an hour wait. The restaurant treated all to a glass of chai while we waited. True to the attendant we were seated in a half hour. We had lamb samosas, broccoli chilli salad, grilled mushrooms, prawn pathia, chicken berry Britannia, dishoom chicken tikka roll, cheese naan, and the chicken ruby. All dishes were well received with the appropriate tasty kick for each plate. The food and decor makes it a definite go to choice if you're a local or visitor to London. I recommend this restaurant for the fine foods, service, and drink selections for all to judge. Good job, Vishoom!!! read more

The line in Convent Garden at around 9 pm only took us 45 minutes, way better than their busiest location near Carnaby if I may say. My first ever international review! This was my first time in Europe and London specifically. I had high expectations of the Indian food here after everything I heard, but was left disappointed. Ambiance: 5/5 - very thoughtful design, great lighting and bustling atmosphere. Loved the vibe Price: 3/5 - for the portion sizes it is overpriced. I didn't feel it was justified Food: 3/5 - Here is where the mark was missed for me. The spice level was weak even though I asked for extra spicy. They do not serve rice with any dish so please consider that prior to going. Their chicken ruby is their form of butter chicken and it wasn't what I thought at all. Service: 3/5 - Our waiter barely came around to our table and our food took forever to come out. I'm not sure if this is my American POV coming out but service was disappointing. read more

A friend told us that this was one place we could not miss while we were in London, and we are so glad we took his advice. Decor/design was retro-Raj, service was among the friendliest and most attentive I've encountered anywhere, and the food was so good that the three of us ended up eating much more then we had planned on when we entered. The best Indian food in London! Blown away every dish we tried. We went at 11:30 to be able to taste both the breakfast and lunch menus. For breakfast, we had the best vanilla bean yogurt we've ever had with fruit and honey, along with a Egg Naan dish, and shared the Oat Chai - they say on the menu that everyone raves about! Then for lunch had the Lamb Samosas, Garlic Naan, and Chicken Ruby (2nd highlight of the menu) with some rice - all amazing! Can't recommend Dishoom enough read more

Wow we were visiting London on vacation and I saw some reviews on YouTube. We made our way to the long line outside for which they stated it would be 15-20 mins so we waited but they called us in less than 5 mins. Our table was nice with a view and although we had some recommendations on what to order the server was great in his recommendations. Best Indian food we have ever had as everything was filled with flavor and the ambience was great. The restaurant was packed but was not loud. I've heard so many good things about Dishoom, so while on our trip to london we had to stop in. There was a line snaking down the outside of the building, which almost deterred us, but it moved quickly and we were even offered complimentary drinks while we waited. The seating area is massive, multiple levels and rooms, plus tables outside. My only complaint of the evening was the noise-this is not the place to have an intimate conversation! Our server was very sweet and helpful in giving recommendations and explaining dishes. I had the Ruby Chicken. It tasted somewhat similar to butter chicken, with a rich tomato based sauce. The garlic naan was good. My husband had the masala Prawns, they were delicious and perfectly cooked. We shared the Khichia and Chundo small plate, which was a crispy chip like dish with apple chutney- it had a great, slow burn. While we were waiting for a table, we were asked about food allergies and whether it was a special occasion, and we told them it was our honeymoon, so for dessert, we were surprised with a complimentary Dishoom Chocolate pudding, which was described as "Melting-in-the-middle chocolate pudding served with a scoop of Kashmiri chilli ice cream." Hands down, one of the best chocolate desserts we've ever had. It really just melts, and the ice cream was the perfect accompaniment to the decadent chocolate. If you're in London and looking for a special meal, definitely check them out! read more

Came around 6:30 on a Thursday and it took around 40 min to get a table. The place looked very nice and loud depending on if you're not used to it. The food here is mainly for sharing. And the size for each plate seems good enough for 2 to 3 people (if you're planning on getting 3 or 4 dishes). Was not disappointed in any of the dishes we got though I wish it could be spicier. read more

We absolutely loved our meal at Dishoom. Upon arrival then were a line about 30 people deep in front of us, however, when the hostess greeted us she notified for 2 people it was only a 30 minute wait, whereas the group of 5 in front of us had a 1.5 hour wait. While waiting there was a hostess coming around serving members in line with chai while we waited- which was wonderful. Upon being seated we were completely blown away by the restaurant. There are two levels and there is sooooo much seating. The menu has a lot which was overwhelming however our server helped us pick what she thought was the best. The service was VERY quick and the food was WONDERFUL. Absolutely wonderful. I would most definitely go there again and again and again. A must if you are in the area. read more

We had a one week trip to London....ate Sunday Roast, had great pub food, hit all the markets and had meat pies, pizza, fish and chips, had afternoon tea, roasted chicken....of all the places we ate...Dishoom was the one we want to eat twice at. Dishoom....just amazing. Why they aren't everywhere in the world (come stateside!) befuddles me. The fresh naan wrapped around bacon, sweet chutney....to die for. The "English" breakfast...delicious and filling. The bottomless chai tea....picks you up from any jet lag you have. Legitimately the best Indian food I've ever had in my entire life. What a wonderful atmosphere with fantastic staff and mind blowing food. The best way to do it is to get one item from each section per person and the share it. It emphasizes a sharing family type of vibe. I loved it so much. Reasonably priced as well. For seven of us getting a ton of different items, it only came out to about 200 something pounds. Which is totally fair if you think about it. If you're coming to England you MUST experience it. I will be coming back here as much as I possible can. Loved it all. read more

Good food and drinks. The line to get a table for the restaurant always looks long but ended up being a 30 minute wait. We asked the staff if we could wait at the bar and they allowed us to sit at the bar until our name was called which made it nicer than standing outside. The restaurant itself is gigantic- main floor and lower level with lots of tables. This place was excellent. Our server, Patrick, was excellent and super kind. It was our first time here and he gave us excellent recommendations and had a great attitude. The okra fries were delicious as they were perfectly fried and has so much flavor. The black daal was also fantastic by itself and was even better with the roti. The garlic naan was super fresh, hot, crispy and soft all at the same time. It was some of the best naan I have ever had. The chicken tikka was one of the best I have had as well. There was so much flavor with such a tender texture. The chicken ruby is a must get for me. I love this dish and they made it so well. The only dish that didn't stand out was the mutton pepper fry. It was very good, don't get me wrong; however, the other dishes stood out way more. I highly recommend you get at least one cup of house chai.
