Legitimately the best Indian food I've ever had in my entire life. What a wonderful atmosphere with fantastic staff and mind blowing food. The best way to do it is to get one item from each section per person and the share it. It emphasizes a sharing family type of vibe. I loved it so much. Reasonably priced as well. The okra fries were delicious as they were perfectly fried and has so much flavor. The black daal was also fantastic by itself and was even better with the roti. Cannot recommend Dishoom more, but this location in particular was incredible! This restaurant was recommended to me by someone back in the USA, so when my partner and I found we were near one we decided to give it a try. There was a very long line outside, but a nice employee said if we decided to sit outside we can sit right away. Once at the front desk they assumed we wanted to be at the bar and we were accidentally placed there. We met a lovely bartender who had us try some wines, but we weren't on the list. After about 15 minutes the bartender went out of his way to get our names on the list! Then when our table was ready, there was confusion with my name and another name on the waitlist, so they got our table first. Within 5 minutes they realized their mistake and as a courtesy, comped our drinks. This wasn't necessary but so greatly appreciated. Once sat, the waitress gave Incredible insight into the menu as well as amazing recommendations. Everything we ate was delicious, my partner said it was in her Top 5 best meals ever. Been wanting to try out Dishoom for the longest time as it is the most reviewed place in London, insane considering there are other world-famous landmarks like the Big Ben and the British Museum. Made a reservation online and was seated promptly in a cute dome-shaped booth. - Chicken Ruby - This is essentially butter chicken and I really enjoyed the flavor which had hints of ginger in it. The chicken was also very tender and flavorful. My one complaint though is that the dish didn't come with naan or rice and this is given that you know, so you do have to order an extra side in order for the main dish to not be so salty. - Garlic Naan - Good relief from the saltiness of the chicken ruby. To be honest, you couldn't really taste the garlic bit of it, so I wouldn't say you have to order the garlic flavored naan. Overall, pretty solid Indian place. Not sure if it lives up to the hype of being the most reviewed place in London but the food was all-around very good. My other only complaint is that it was my friend's birthday and they gave us a dessert to celebrate with a candle. Waited in line for an hour to get seated - the staff were very helpful as we waited and gave us regular updates and hot cups of free chai. The food is very good but I wouldn't say it was the "best Indian ever" like some of the reviews here describe - for example the house Chaat came with soggy potatoes and the lamb chops could have used more seasoning. Overall, our favorite was the Ruby chicken - it was a delight to try parsi cuisine as it's not very common back home in the US. The total was just ok; thought it was too cheesy and could have used more egg/spices. They had inquired about dietary restrictions and I mentioned that I have a gluten sensitivity so they offered a completely separate menu for those with gluten allergies. When in London you have to indulge in some of the best Indian food around. Everything here is on point - the ambiance, service, attentiveness, approachability, menu variety, and most importantly taste! It was an exceptional experience from start to finish. I made a reservation a couple of weeks in advance and was able to get one no issue - there was a pretty big line out the door when I got there, so make a reservation if you can (but the line did move pretty well, so don't let a line dissuade you from eating a great meal here either). Once seated I was immediately greeted by my server who walked me through a few menu highlights. I ordered the House Chai (must get - it is the best I have ever had; rich and spicy), Okra fries (delicious and crispy), Paneer Roti Roll (soft Roti with paneer and spices, what is not to love) and the Chicken Ruby (standout of the meal, decadently flavorful curry perhaps best I have ever had). This place was highly recommended by friends and colleagues for my trip to London. It is well worth all the hype. We went on a Friday evening so there was a line outside but they were getting through it in a very good speed and seemed very efficient. They also offered us some complimentary chai and nimbu soda while waiting in the queue. The wait was about 25 mins which would have easily taken more than an hour at other places. They welcomed us in and gave a few options for the tables and seated us at a place of choice. The server checked in on us about any allergies before taking our order. I had the Permit Room Old Fashioned which was served in a small bottle with a cork which I then poured into the glass. We got the highly recommended fried okra which was definitely worth it. What an experience! When I told people that we were going to be visiting London, all I heard was "You have to go to Dishoom!" My husband and I let's just say has not always gravitated towards Indian food. But we could not ignore all the rave reviews. We arrived closer to 8:30pm on a Wednesday and there was a line. However it went pretty quickly and we were seated in around 20 minutes. We were also treated to lemonade and chai while waiting, which I found to be a sweet gesture. Inside was lovely! Warm and inviting ambiance, (a tad noisy), but it's a popular place. Whatcha gonna do? Our server was helpful and gave us a run down of all the most popular dishes. A friend told me to get the Black Dahl and it really was extremely tasty. The meal was wonderful overall. This meal surpassed all our expectations - probably the best Indian food we've had and the best food we've had in London. I highly recommend the Daal and chicken ruby. What's the hype about this place ? Long lines, waiting outside in the cold in London? Well it was my third time here, I tend to visit this place when in London. You can make reservations online but will not be able to find the time slot you want, that's how busy this restaurant is. So you have to go there, put your name down and wait in the line. Well now they have outdoor heaters that keep you warm while you wait. Our wait was about 20min it wasn't that bad compared to previous times. While you wait they offer you spicy Indian tea which is yum. We finally get seated and they thankfully ask about allergies which we had. The minute we said nut allergies we were presented with a thick binder of menu items and ingredients. Of course no guarantee with cross contamination as pre packed ingredients come from other facilities. Manager also came and spent good 10min with us to answer any questions and review the menu with us. This experience was amazing as a parent seeing the care they had for my child and yes there was the liability piece but again they cared. So service was exceptional!! Let's talk food- Fish wrapped in banana leaf- messy but worth it. Fish was spicy and SO flavorful. Just thinking about it makes me want to fly to London again. Being Indian and familiar with Indian cooking and spices I sat there eating and wondering how they cooked it so well that the fish was so tender and each bite had so many flavors that the fish didn't break while cooking. This fish went well with their basmati rice and romali roti. Chicken tikka which we ordered for my son who has nut allergies was a little to spicy for his taste buds. We didn't make a reservation so we waited in line outside and we're given the option of a cup of chai tea or wine. Once we were called in, we waited in the bar area for about 20 minutes before our table was ready. We ordered 3 appetizers (dishoom house chaat, khichia & chundo and pau bhaji) which were all phenomenal. This was enough to share between 4 people while waiting for the main dishes. I went for dinner time AND breakfast time. I made reservations for both and avoided the long queue that I'd been warned of. So if you don't mind an earlier dinner.. 16:45 reservation is my piece of advice because that line I saw when we left was no joke haha. They take reservations of any size before 1700 or 1800 if I'm not mistaken, otherwise you'll be a walk-in on line. For dinner we started off with the chili cheese toast.. which to be honest, I think we could have lived without. It was just spicy cheese on bread, I didn't care for it but I feel like I was ordering with my eyes when I went for it lol. Not knocking off a star for it because other people may like it. Not pictured (because Yelp won't accept video shots right now for some reason) is the famous chicken ruby, garlic naan, some regular basmati rice, and murgh malai chicken thighs. It ended up being 30 minutes, which was no big deal, especially given how good the food was. We've waited over an hour for way worse food back in the United States.
