After a somewhat decent 2 year run with a promo price, I was told that I was eligible for another much less attractive promotion to start another 2 year commitment. Was told that the $$$ was ALL INCLUSIVE LESS TAXES. I asked the customer rep this several times and was told yes, it's all inclusive. Got my first bill and guess what? The price I was given DID NOT INCLUDE EQUIPMENT. I specifically was told that it did. Lie much, DiSH? What a bunch of scammers. They will nickel and dime you to death. I had Dish for 5 1/2 years with very good service. Now it was time to cancel service due to personal circumstances. The agent I spoke to, David, would not take no for an answer. He wanted to know why why why, even after I told him that we are facing a death. Well what are you gonna do after that you have things settled? I told him I did not need the stress in my life with his 20 questions. I finally spoke to his supervisor and got it done but it only took 30 minutes of high stress. I would not go with him ever again because of the stress of having to cancel and their reaction to cancellation. read more

worst service ever. Complete waste of our money. we have been having issues with our Joey so they sent a tech to replace. It is now worst than it was before the repair. It takes a reboot every night to get the program running and this usually takes 10 to 15 minutes. They have refused to replace our hopper. Can't give a zero, but that's how dish service ranks. Just counted the 240 channels and 162 were people trying to sell or advertise some product or service. We are paying for their advertising. Ah, the cable/satellite industry....THE MOST ABUSIVE IGNOMINIOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE/MANAGEMENT IN BUSINESS TODAY. DISH is one of those. You know what I mean. The convoluted bills, $10. price raise for same/no service after 3 years, still no local channels with base plan, and no DVR, don't want one. DISH invoices were getting too Time Warnerish, a $5 fee for talking to an agent? Oh stop. I love the magnanimous vibe when they "waived" that one. DISH said I didn't have to return my equipment because it was obsolete!.....I probably would have gone on for who knows how long with no local channels, streaming and zoomed screen issues, on obsolete equipment. A bad roommate choice however changed my system to Time Warner (I just can't call Time Warner anything but Time Warner) the granddaddy of absurdity, and less than 2 months later he and TW were gone. Now TW is doing the cable/satellite dance, the "Extort Rap" which works out to over $500 for 2 months of tv/internet. The Extortion Business Model of this toxic industry is TRULY MEANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF CUSTOMERS. Direct tv helped themselves to $580 of my money by making an unauthorized withdrawal. Said I didn't return equipment which I did with receipt, and a ridiculous fee for "contract breach". Took 2 weeks of wasted time and no money to get it back. These "contracts" are not binding, each pathetic attempt to collect is pulled out of the air and sent to the customer who merely found a better deal. It's called capitalism. Nobody is advised and/or given the "contract" length or any real fee schedule should you have the audacity to get rid of their shoddy business dealings. I received no customer service, no swap-out of my obsolete equipment, nothing the 3 years I endured DISH. I'm not signing up for anything in the messed up world they call "tech advanced" because to this toxic industry it means free money, no maintenance and a bonus extortion fee at the end of a "contract". So let's just say it all together now: What did DISH delude itself into thinking I'd pay them? $624.90. Hahahahaha! Those jerks were like sharks at a feeding frenzy. I'm embarrassed for them. This figure was the final piece of paper left in the bowl where they get these ludicrous numbers. There is no accounting, no itemization, no human decency or common sense. They were so sick and nervous about it I was hoping for at least one fool to go down with a heart attack over one woman's self-improvment act that caused a monthly negative of $71 for very limited tv only, no internet or add-ons. I got at least 20 emails, us mails and phonecalls. I've given DISH enough $$ for my 2 month 2nd run with them. What is so disturbing is there were many final payout numbers before they chose $624, each arrived at before equipment return. I have receipt from DISH that I returned equipment in a timely manner per their instructions, where's the credit? What on earth is this $624.90 for? I want a COMPLETE ITEMIZED STATEMENT. Itemized with every penny accounted for. That is my right. All this for a basic $71 pkg, no local channels, add-ons or DVR. Think about it. The FCC will get a copy of this, you - Convergent will get the same. I'm done and I could not care less who you run screaming to. This industry needs to be stopped and regulated. These kind of thinkers have ruined and misinterpreted how technology is supposed to be implemented. I am serious. I want an itemization of every nickel. No broad statement of the amount, but an accounting of how and why these losers think they can do this to people. FYI I have no sat/cable service. I won't until these clueless inferior companies are replaced with reality based practices and accountants. These people sign you up and think they're family and you're their personal ATM demanding whatever amount they drum up. Go ahead, send it to that 3 number credit system. Too bad you can't give NO stars! After being with Dish for almost 7 years, and our bill creeping up to well over $100.00 for just TV, and the fact that we just don't watch much of anything that's not on network television we decided to give it up and put the money elsewhere. So my husband called to cancel "yesterday", got some woman in "India" who was very angry that he was cancelling, like it's her business. So she accepted the cancellation and sent out a final bill via e-mail and agreed to have boxes sent to return the cable boxes. So today he gets a call at 8:01 a.m. from another very angry woman here in the states who's all pissed off because we cancelled and wants him to whip out a credit card and pay the final bill "NOW"! What the....!!! Now, if ever we wanted to have expanded tv we wouldn't even consider Dish and I'm writing this so you don't either! The service is the same as everyone else except their customer service is horrible! Just go with someone else. Dish is not worth it. read more

After only 5 days of service with Dish, I can't wait until my contract is over! If you want a quick review, try Directv or another local provider for your cable tv needs! Initially, the installation (which mind you already had the satellite in place from the previous owners and one of the boxes already in the home) took approximately 4 hours and by the end the four hours, our home did not have cable. (The technician watched youtube videos for about an hour on my couch upstairs.) New boxes were ordered, but I troubleshooted the devices myself throughout the afternoon and got all the TV's in the house hooked up. We were told when we signed up for the service that were going to be paying $80 over the course of 12 months for the installation (heavy eye roll.) Next, we looked at the bill which is on the menu screen and found that we were not getting the discounts as was discussed when we signed up for the service. I called the customer service representative and after holds and transfers to different departments found someone who was willing to listen and possibly resolve the issues of the bill. Basically, he just kept repeating that there was nothing he could do and the price of the contract is set in stone and proceeded to offer to get out of the contract for $450! I called another representative the next day to have the phone call reviewed where a lower rate was promised...still waiting to hear back from the Dish network representatives in El Paso, TX. I'm not going to hold my breath waiting to hear back at this point. If there is no resolution (I'm asking for $10 dollar discount that they give all new customers), I will be taking all the freebies of Directv as a new customer. This is the crap that made me cut the cord 4 years ago (the nickel and dime for every extra thing they offer plus the contracts). I would never recommend Dish Network. read more

After being a loyal customer for over 10 years I felt the need to share what happened when I called to cancel service with Dish tv. I guess when a company gets so big they really don't care about customer service? I was charged a cancellation fee due of $170 remaining balance of a contract? I had no idea I had gotten into a new contract? This is to let people know to confirm if you call customer service to ask that question, this is where big corporate get you! When I get settled, I Will Not be a Dish Customer again. Also, when talking 3 times to service reps about equipment return that was a fiasco! They knew I had cancelled service & still sent box's to old address to return the equipment! Unbelievable! The Sat industry has us by the "Bleeps". There are only two worth talking about: Dish-Network and Direct-tv. They both suck. Direct-tv are outright thieves. They had me on auto-pay, and raised my rates behind my back until I was paying twice what I agreed to, and I didn't even know it until I accidentally noticed the outrageous increase on my credit card statement. Needless to say, I said goodbye to them when I discovered it. (it wasn't a very pleasant goodbye, count on that). Dish-Network, used to be honest and competent until this year. They changed their "Movie Pack" programming package, didn't tell anyone, and renewed it when requested, without mentioning that Epix was no longer in it. (Epix was the best part of the Movie Pack). In the same month, (January 2018) they raised their core package rates with less than 30 days notice. Also, they have a 'very bad habit' of adding their infamous $5.00 "one-time fee" onto your bill, even if you didn't change programming within 30 days to be penalized for it. Both companies have fine quality imagery, but both are thieves behind your back. Problem is, if there is no cable in your area, you are stuck with one of these two Sat company crooks. My advice: don't EVER go on "autopay" with either of them. Check your bill every month, and if it isn't correct, call them and make them fix it. read more

Dear Dish, you called me and to sell your product to my house hold. When I ask the sales man how he received my phone number he informed me he got my number so he could f### me. WHAT this is horrible my husband got on the line and they hung up. I spent over an hour trying to file some kind of complaint ,but I was tossed around for almost an hour and finally told it was fruad call. Great security Dish. CROOKS! After having service with them for over 4 years, I called to cancel my service and they told me that I had an early termination fee of $300 because I added a new receiver recently. This was after they thanked me for being a loyal customer and tried to get me to stay by offering me a cheaper price for 12 months only because I had found time warner cable / spectrum was offering a better deal (with no contracts) I said, what happens after the 12 months? They said, we raise the price again. I told them no thank you. Then they told me I had to pay 10 dollars to send the receivers back to them. I asked if there was somewhere I could drop them off, to avoid more service charges. They said, no. I asked, then why do I have to pay to return them to you? He said, because it says it in your contract when you joined 4 years ago. He tried to tell me that I could drop the service protection plan at any time to lower my rate. I said, then I would have had to pay for a new box, when the receiver you provided me fried after 2 years. Its all about money with them. I've left feeling taken advantage of. In the very beginning, we loved our Dish Network for the prices and great deals, however, since becoming a Dish family something like over two years ago, it seems like we've had nothing but problems with our DVR, and ESPECIALLY the Joey in the guest room! Once this DVR decides to do its nightly "updates", once the updates are done, NOTHING is accessible thru the DVR! NOTHING! It's even WORSE with the Joey!! I counted one night, after the midnight updating was over, I had to literally RESTART my DVR over 25 times!!! I mean, I kept having to unplug and plug it back in, restart, wait, do this, do that, just to watch friggin cable TV that WE PAY GREAT MONEY FOR!!!! I just want out of this friggin contract, either that, I need a better paying job where we can finally buy out of this annoying contract! Listen guys, if you're on a budget, this cable company is perfectly fine, but if you have money and options, don't waste your time and money on Dish! Go somewhere else! EDIT: I WANT you guys to know; this TV and cable Service isn't the WORST, however, it's definitely not the BEST, either!! I mean, sure, we're all going to run into digital issues with ANY TV service, so if you're on a tight budget, Dish is MOST CERTAINLY a great option!!!! I mean, we've saved THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS within these last few years, simply by choosing Dish!! All I'm trying to say by my I initial review, is that Dish has lots of glitches in their system, and they need to work these things out to make their product much smoother for the ppl who pay them every month. I mean, don't get me wrong, we are VERY GRATEFUL for our cable thru Dish!! We've renewed our contract I think twice now??? And it's because their prices and packages are worth the savings, you know! If we could afford better cable, we would be choosing Direct TV, or Verizon, but with our low income budget, Dish is plenty fine for us. Their interface is very modern, very nicely done. It's very simple and easy to find recorded episodes, etc, or to figure out how to start recording something you like, even from the very beginning of the actual episode!! The user face with Dish TV is very sweet!! Very nice!! Very interactive and user friendly!! I'm just trying to say, if you are on a budget, but can still afford to add cable to your life, Dish is a wonderful option!! Buuuuut, IF YOU HAVE MONEY, I would most definitely choose something else, something like Verizon, or Direct TV. That's all I'm trying to say. Whatever you do, do not trust their "account specialists." They mis-represent their "solutions" On three separate occasions, they have made promises regarding my account and on all three occasions, they have not followed through and have done nothing. I would just like to say i love Dish customer service. My contract was just about up and my husband decided we would switch to Spectrum (for a "special promotion"). We had it for one day and it was garbage! Nothing was as they advertised. I called Dish to explain we needed them to send out a technician to re-hook everything up and they had a guy out the next day, on a Saturday with no problem. This is the worst satellite network you can possibly have, not only do they bump up your bill without telling you but they also cancel channels that you already had without letting you know & still charge you the same amount, I was finally able to cancel but of course they didn't let me go easy & now they are threatening to charge my credit card if I don't return the boxes. My husband called in to see if we could lower our monthly bill. The gal told us if we signed up for 24 more months on contract she could give us three packages that gave us the channels we wanted and the fees would stay the same for 24 months. They mailed a card out to us to insert into our receiver. We called in again to finish setting up the new channels, and the new gal said the guaranteed price was only good for one of the packages. One of the packages we got was going back up in three months and the other package could go up at any time. We would still be locked into those packages for 24 months no matter how much the prices went up. She also said within a few months we would have to upgrade our receivers to hoppers which raised our rate again. So.. basically we are stuck with a new 24 month contract, less channels and higher price than before. This is not what they promised us and will not let us out of the contract even though the day the card came in we said-cancel this is NOT what you said you were giving us. AFTERWARDS WE FOUND OUT THAT WE COULD GET THE SAME CHANNELS THROUGH HULU, ROKU AND FIRESTICK FOR LESS MONEY AND NO CONTRACTS. You can bet that when the 24 months is up we will be dropping dish! read more

We've had this service for 13 years and yes it's expensive but it's good quality. But we just recently moved and we don't watch much tv anymore. So we decided to get spectrum. For the same price we were paying dish we got 4 TVs and internet and phone service. When we were trying to cancel dish it was impossible and very annoying and rude to cancel it. DISH has offered me nothing but poor service since buying the 'Tailgater' portable satellite. It is almost impossible to connect to all three satellites and we have been all over the country. It NEVER finds all the satellites, so we wind up paying for channels that are 75%+ infomercials. The only good part was that we could "pay as we go", so if we stayed somewhere that offered free cable for a month, we didn't pay for DISH. Well, today that changed. They are apparently billing me EVERY month, whether I use it or not. I made a monthly payment of $73 on 10/17. Service was reinstated. Today, 10/23, we were 2/3 of the way through watching good movie and the screen suddenly said, "programming is not authorized". I called DISH and now they want another $73 to restore service. Well, DISH, you can kiss my you know what. No more money here for you. I'll find another way to get TV. DISH is a pathetically dishonest company and deserves to go out of business. read more

worst service ever.! I recently called and talk to an associate because the box that they provided for me was an old one compare to the one my sister has even tho she was paying less than I was. I told the lady I was thinking on chanching my cable provider because I wasn't satisfied with the box they gave me I couldn't watch Netflix or all the other services the other box provides when I was in the middle of the call the call was disconnected and as I was watching TV my service was disconnected too!! she didn't call back to make sure I took the final decision of canceling my service so I call back and they told me I had to pay $20 for reconnection I told him I wasn't going to pay for someone's else's decision because it was her fault so he reconnected my service and now I get my bill and I am being charge 35.20 and they also said my bill was now going to be over $70 when my bill was $56.74 because when you cancel and reactive your service you loose the promotion you had even tho my decision of canceling wasn't final!!! Marcos was the supervisor I talked to and he said there was nothing else he could do no solutions it was either I pay the new monthly payment or cancel my service. !!
