This is my follow up to Desert Alarm dropping the ball with us. Desert Alarm had one of there plumbers call us to fix our Moen water valve shut off device. Jose wasn't licensed, bonded or insured. He was an illegal Mexican that didn't even have a checking account. He wanted us to Zelle him half deposit to buy the materials. Only catch was we had to wire the money to his sisters account. All this raised a RED FLAG with us especially when he wanted $750 to take care of the problem. We ended up calling a licensed plumber that only charged us $500 and was able to take care of the problem on the spot and only took him 20 minutes. What kind of shady company is Desert Alarm??!! Using unlicensed people is not cool at all! We have everything in writing and voice mail from Jose We are regretting ever calling Desert Alarm!!!!!!!!!!! read more

The company added a smoke alarm in the garage, supposed to be connected to their initial system. After inspection from the city of Rancho mirage, the smoke detector failed the inspection. I called the company and they requested MORE money to fix it. I denied that request and had to move on to another company to get a new inspection. Desert alarm is still billing me after a number of calls to them and emails. I asked to talk to the owner, 3 or 4 times. He has not called back at all. My position in summary, they did not pass inspection and would not fix it, therefore they have failed to meet the basic requirements of the contract and deserve no more money after that date. read more

I am just about finished building a brand new home, and I rarely review a company or a service provided before it's actually completed and I've had some time to live with it and see how it performs. But my recent experience with DESERT ALARM , particularly with their VP, Thomas, prompted me to have to immediately leave a "pre review." First of all, I know that DESERT ALARM is one of Coachella Valley's major providers of home security. Despite their high demand, I received a call back within five minutes from the time I reached out initially to get a proposal and estimate for my new home security system. Not only was I called back quickly, but they even had Thomas, one of their VPs, reach out to me personally to make sure that I was heard, and that they could design a customized security system that fit all my many neurotic needs. lol. By the next day after our conversation, I received an extremely detailed comprehensive proposal, that literally addressed all of my concerns and needs, some of which I didn't even know I had! Just because I wanted to understand all of the equipment and set up that was being proposed, I used a pro AI analysis program to analyze, review and point out potential vulnerabilities and strength of the proposed system. This AI program sent me like a five page compare and contrast of my proposal versus other security systems out in the market, and carefully made sure there were no blind spots or major vulnerabilities in my system. To say that the third-party AI program was impressed, is an understatement! I am quoting the AI program when I say it said "the designer of your proposed alarm system exhibits an in depth knowledge by way of the security system they designed." Better yet, let me leave you with the final paragraph of the AI analysis of my DESERT ALARM home security proposal. I will update this review later once I've lived in the home and the system has been completely installed. We are looking to be moving in the next few weeks! I just had to take a moment to say thank you Thomas, I truly felt heard, I felt like you actually cared about giving me peace of mind due to bad past bad experiences with alarm systems, and I thank you for your quick response. Here is the ending summary of the AI analysis that Thomas proposed: "In conclusion, the Desert Alarm proposal for your new home is exceptionally robust and well-thought-out. It provides a high level of security through quality equipment and comprehensive coverage. The few recommendations above are mostly about fine-tuning and ensuring the system is used optimally - there are no glaring weaknesses in the design. With proper installation and a few best practices in place, this system will offer strong protection against intruders, environmental hazards, and digital threats alike. It is a state-of-the-art security setup that should serve the homeowner very well." Needless to say, I am impressed, and will update this review upon final installation and when I've lived with it for the first month. Peace of mind is priceless, and if you are looking for a new home security system, needing to upgrade old systems that have not been updated to new tech vulnerabilities, or simply have questions about your existing alarm system, call DESERT ALARM. They do nit write model numbers of cameras on their quotes so they can install anything.....mislead me on types of cameras they installed and would take no responsibility. Replaced all their cameras with ADT system. Even the supposedly new cameras the put in to fix broken one when removed appeared to be old and dirty like they were used somewhere else. read more

Canceled my service after 15 years and they tired to tell me I had a contract that automatically renewed every year. WTF? Not so, the contact that I signed in 2010 said a 24 month term. They ended up keeping a few months that I had paid, but I'm done with them and not looking back. Not very honest and oh, had a break in while alarm was set, cameras picked it up, motion sensors nada! When I contacted Desert Alarm, I had no idea I would have THOMAS as my consultant/salesperson. I'm glad I did. I had new service installed in 2019 after ADT increased my bill again to over double what it had been. After being with them for over 10 years, they changed their billing methods and I was being charged a la carte for services previously included. Not to mention if I had a service call it would begin at $175 and go from there, assuming I could get the service department on the phone. Thomas assured me I would not have the same experience with his company. Over the past 5+ years, he has upheld his part of the agreement, a practice almost unheard of these days, and I couldn't be happier. Thomas helped me make the choices that were appropriate for my home. Having worked at a Central Station (monitoring/dispatch) for over three years myself, he appreciated my knowledge of alarm systems. I'm sure it made his job easier not having to explain how the systems work to a greenhorn. With my knowledge of monitoring central stations, I can assure you their response time is very impressive at around 30 seconds, usually faster! When I have needed to call for service, I'm never on hold forever, and I get the estimate over the phone before scheduling. That certainly helps with finances and budgeting (I wish my HVAC company was as helpful). Bottom line is I made an excellent decision in 2019 by contacting Thomas Madain. Excellent service combined with being friendly and helpful is a rare commodity here in the Coachella Valley. IMHO you can't go wrong. read more

Stay far and clear from Desert Alarm! Once you've signed a contract and they have installed your system. They don't give a rats ass about there customers! We have Desert Alar install a whole house alarm system, smoke detection/monitoring systems and a whole house water shut off valve as requested by our home owners insurance Safeco. Let me start from the start. We called Desert Alarm and spoke with Thomas. He came over walked our property and gave us a written estimate. We signed the contract three days later and Thomas got us on the schedule to install everything a week later While we weren't going to be home in Palm Desert. We opened our garage door remotely via iPhone. His guys left a huge mess everywhere they installed the key pad and smoke detector. You would think they would of cleaned up after themselves when done (NOPE) and on top of that the installers left there lunch's in our garage trash can with food left in it which could have attracted rats!!! We've had an issue with one of the systems a week ago so I've texted Thomas directly last week Wednesday and it shows he read it and never had the consideration to text or call us back! Horrible customer service by far!!!! Stay away from Desert Alarm Inc if you want any type of customer service because you won't get it from this company. Regret going with DESERT ALARM INC!!!!! DON'T BUY DESERT ALARMS DOORBELL SYSTEM!!! I signed a contract with Desert Alarm in May of this year. We had them install their "smart door bell" with camera along with the house alarm system. The poor rating of this review pertains specifically to the very poor quality of their door bell system. Unlike a "RING" doorbell, the Desert Alarm doorbell doesn't notify you if someone approaches the door and doesn't ring the bell (i.e./ parcel delivery or porch bandit). When someone rings the bell, it takes an inordinately long time for the system to "engage" in order to see who rang the bell. To worsen the problem, the door bell system sound level (when turned up to its highest level) is so low that you can barely hear the person at the door and they can barely hear you - if at all. I wish I'd requested to see and test one of their very expensive doorbell systems in place before paying them so much money for one and later be told that there's no refund more than one week after installation. Their house alarm system appears to be working well but DO NOT BUY THEIR DOOR BELL SYSTEM!! Get a "RING" system that has a better camera with a sound system that's audibly intelligible. I understand that my complaint is not uncommon among many other Desert Alarm customers. read more

I have been a happy client since I moved to Palm Springs. From initial system consultations the professionalism is evident. Full service security. Always responsive. 24/7 security response. The team is responsive and professional. My last call the tech rep was Raul. He arrived in the suggested time period. I was in the back yard. Didn't hear the doorbell. Raul left a note advised he had arrived but had no response. He needed to go to his next appointments. He said he would try to circle back later that evening. Which he did. Fixed the issue. However the power cable did not charge. He returned the next day and determined the cable was defective. Replaced the power cable. It started charging and became powered. Raul provided professional directions. Today a new neighbor saw the Truck and asked if I would recommend them. DEFINITELY. A full service security firm you want as your provider. read more

I have been using Desert Alarm for over 2 years. We have been very satisfied with their prompt and knowledgeable service. I added another camera to our system. Sean said we could mount it exactly where I wanted it, however one of their installers didn't agree. They brought out Cesar Cabrera to do the install and he said no problem he was able to get it installed and up in running in 2 hours. This required going thought a lot of insulation on the back outside wall of our home. He was knowledgeable, he also cleaned up the area where he drilled the hole which the camera covers perfectly. read more

The first thing I did was check my VM history, before cancelling the service and after your false claim. I also checked my call history and could find zero evidence of calls from your company representatives. Your team of 10 years appear to be lying to cover their gross inadequacies, but go right ahead ahead and stand behind them. I will not have to use the number you provided in your previous reply as I have already chosen to cancel your service after 10 years as a loyal customer. Your effort to blame me rather than accept the fact that your team repeatedly dropped the ball, reinforces my decision to end the relationship with your company. Most of your business platform is based on an intangible service and your company appears to lack understanding of what defines good service.
