I had this alarm company for five years, I was more than pleased, they apparently they sold to a larger company, I had to close my company, unaware we apparently owed one month upon closing, the lady at this new company was rude, threatening, aggressive, impatient and nasty in her attempts to collect $149, I paid the bill willingly, but if you are ever behind for a moment on your bill, buckle down she thinks she's a tough employee. I have been with Maximum for many many years, always top notch in all areas of service. Then it wasn't. Come to find out its under new ownership. 1-my credit card was on file and the invoice was always paid. The card expired and I didn't notice. After not much time, I started getting frequent (like 4 in a matter of minutes) calls. Finally tonight the complete lack of customer service hit a new high. My virtual keypad wouldn't work and I had 4 guests standing outside in 102 degree weather. After 3.5 hours the emergency technician finally called and said he couldn't fix it, not even willing to give it a shot, just can't...and I would have to call the company in the morning 8:30-4. No, we are sorry, just I'm not going to even try to fix your issue, cuz its probably with your phone. Miss the old gang who cared and treated you like friends and family.. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! I've had home security systems in our homes for over 25 years, I moved to the Palm Springs area a few years back and wanted a local security company and I (unfortunately) chose Maximum Security. I should have known better. the salesman was kind of sleazy (for lack of a better word). We paid nearly $1,000.00 for our new alarm equipment. Within a short period of time we began having bizarre issues with our system it would "go off"with out ever being turned on, we had service techs to our home upwards of 10 times the first year (maybe more). Initially, they insisted it was our fault (user error) somehow, then they blamed the batteries in the motion detectors AND wanted to charge me to replace them (they were not even six months old), I was told that sometimes the batteries that are installed aren't always"brand new." I protested and a compromise was reached if I remember properly. The issues persisted, the alarm kept "going off" without ever being tuned on. I was NEVER offered any form of apology or compensation, I explained that I was not comfortable even having it in my home it malfunction so terribly, at this point they replaced the motherboard (main circuit board) free of charge. The issue continued, and again it was deemed "user error." A couple of service calls later they finally admitted that the key fobs I had bought from them (5 @ $80/each) were faulty. Countless hours of waiting for techs, not trusting my Security system enough to arm it unless I had to and still no real apology. That is just the FIRST year, I discussed leaving with them with front office, but was told I had signed a two year service agreement and if I cancelled I would be responsible for the remaining time on the contract. Considering all of the issues I had AND they were really not monitoring my unusable system I thought they would let me leave....of course not!! I counted my days until the two years were up. read more

Finally gave up. From the get-go I had asked for specific options on keypads -- never could get that even though I said I would pay to have the whole system replaced. The online tool is crap and barely usable. Asked about the keypads and always get a long complicated story about how hard it is and cost (which I don't care about -- just put in what I want) Asked to have CO2 monitors replaced and new ones put in -- another long story, then a written order and cost and paid for it -- then got a message about "oops - we messed up and want more money" Ended up calling another vendor: came in on a Wednesday afternoon, surveyed what was needed, got me a quote within an hour, and had the whole thing end-to-end -- all new equipment and sensors -- done on Monday with the keypads and online access that I wanted and no excuses -- oh -- and the equipment is from the same manufacturer that this vendor uses... Called to cancel the monitoring service and they want a written cancellation and the email has a nasty section about how they will fine me $500 if for any reason I have to cancel an appointment for them to pull out their damned equipment. Worst alarm company I have ever dealt with -- old technology, monitoring is farmed out to some other company that can barely answer the phone and cannot assist with any questions, bad attitude. Paid-out $450.00 to for the remainder of the contract just to get away from this horrible horrible company. read more

Do not use this company. Their contracts are ridiculous. When I first moved to the Palm Springs area, I wanted to use a local company so I chose Maximum Security. This company is proof that buying local isn't necessarily cheaper or better. In fact, it's much worse. Not only was I charged $1,200 for alarm installation (even though I had purchased a brand new, smart home that was pre-wired for alarm), but getting out of the contract is even worse. Be very careful and read the fine print -- or better yet, avoid this company altogether, and go with a different security company. I sold the home where I purchased the $1,200 alarm system from Maximum Security. When I called to tell Maximum Security that I no longer needed their services, I was told this: My contract, originally purchased thru them in October 2007 (10 years ago) was renewed on an annual basis. Therefore, I would be required to pay thru October 2017 this year. Even though I no longer even own the home! So they are forcing me to pay for more than 6 months on an alarm system I am NOT using, and on a home in which I am not the official owner. This is how they treat customers who've been with their company 10 years. Buyer beware. By the way, at my new home, I ordered alarm and security services from one of their national competitors... and the cost was nothing. It was FREE installation. Avoid Maximum Security. When I called to cancel their alarm services I was told that I had to give them 30 days notice. OK, that was fine, however I was invoiced for 90 days of service. When I questioned them, I was told that it was in the contract that they could do that. read more

After sticking with the same company for years hoping their service would get better, I've finally decided enough is enough. They are nice enough on the phone until there is a problem and then it's your problem not theirs. I can't begin to tell you how many false alarms have gone off at my house. Maximum Security is absolutely useless. I am constantly given wrong information and their follow thru is non existent. I prefer giving business to smaller companies then to large corporate entities like ADT, but Maximum Security has grown to big for their own britches and their service has gone in the crapper. Same experience as reviewer in April 2017. After 10 years of using a local company (I wanted to give a local company my business) it felt like I had a 10 year old system. I was never contacted to upgrade any capabilities (remote access would've been great) so I decided to switch providers. Only when I switched out my home's windows and doors did I learn of improvements in monitoring over the last 10 years. And I had to ask. No one at Maximum took the initiative to update me about any advances and improvements at the firm. But the real catch came when I learned there was an annual contract date. And after 10 years of regular service! Lucky for me my contract end date was only 2 months out so I didn't have much of a penalty for cancelling service, but still, who's heard of being locked into a contract after 10 years. I will check my 10 year old original contract to see if this is true or not. If it's a yearly contract, I don't ever recall signing a form yearly, only providing recurring electronic payment do I think a contract may have been interpreted as extended. I'd also give poor marks on customer service. I sent in a cancellation notice; 2 weeks later I followed up with an email just to be sure it was received and requested a response; 1 week later I had to call and request confirmation, and at that time I was also informed of the contract end date and no refund is due. And this only because I initiated 3 requests for confirmation of cancellation. If confirmation of cancellation would have been provided timely, perhaps I would've remained a customer until the contract end date. In all the 10 years I was with these folks, I bothered them very little, had very infrequent false alarms (maybe 6 over the years) and paid my bill electronically every quarter. And this is how they treat a customer. No going back for me! read more

After using this company for six years we decided to look at alternative companies and equipment. We cannot complain about the service but we can complain about the end of the contract. In a nutshell they have you sign a contract that they interpret to their own benefit. If you sign up on the last day of a month, evidently you have to pay for the whole month since their billing system requires this according to their manager. In their contract it states that they prorate the first month from when the service starts. Now when you terminate the contract you will lose all the days they did not prorate the first month's payment because evidently they don't prorate. Which is it, do they prorate, or do they not prorate? It could be one day, it could be 30 days! So I lost 5 days of monitoring they owe me. Big deal, 5 bucks. What is a big deal is that after 6 years of paying they have to screw you over for all of 5 bucks. Losers! The manager cannot even seem to understand the contract that they have you sign, perhaps retraining or a course in the reading of contracts is in order. Of course they realize that we are not renewing their services, so maybe that is the cause of their testy attitude! Piss someone off for 5 bucks, how stupid. One can only hope the manager was having a bad day, if not, they obviously look at their clients as only being good for one thing, squeeze that last 5 bucks off them. How pathetic! read more

Well after complaining I received a phone call telling me they were going to replace my alarm panel to a larger version at no charge. Also they would replace all the sensor batteries at no charge. The technicians did a great job. Everything is working perfectly now. No complaints. The customer service department really stepped up! read more

I tried to schedule an appointment for an estimate on some security cameras. I called their 800 number that is listed on their website which ended up being their answering service for the alarm systems. I was transferred to three different people and one of them ended up raising her voice at me that she was just their answering service. I was hoping to be able to talk to somebody who would be able to meet me for an estimate but seeing as how awful their answering service is I just gave up. Especially after a customer service rep raised her voice at me. Wow, this was a frustrating experience and I never got to talk to anyone to help me. read more

I unfortunately choose this company back in 2011 to put a system in my home & a business that I was managing. I had to leave the area & called them numerous times to remove their equipment. They scheduled three appointments with me and never showed up. I moved out of the area & this miserable company sent me to a collection agency, I had talked with them to no avail. I sent certified letters to all three credit agency's as well as Coachella Collections. I have recently become aware of the fact that this is still on my credit report, these dirt bags continue to report this after seven years. I again have tried talking with them & the dirt bags at Coachella Collections again to no avail! The state of calif has laws that state any debt valid or not be removed after seven years. Neither of these companies seem to care about that & have been extremely rude. Maximum Security claims they can do nothing! We inherited this company when we purchased our house in Cathedral City. We kept the plan since it seemed "easy" at the time. As soon as our contract is up, we will be changing security systems. I've used ADT for years, and have never had a problem. This company charges to come out service their equipment - they also refuse to come out on a weekend without paying a fee. Considering that this is a vacation home, it is not often convenient to come out on a week day. This company does not understand customer service and is essentially a pain in the you-know-what. At this time, I'm not even sure we will wait for the contract to end - we may terminate early. Definitely look elsewhere. read more

I would give them zero stars if that was an option. I had monitoring services with them for 5 years and when I went to cancel service when I sold my house they were awful (I think that is the polite way to say SUCK!). The customer service representative was deplorable, rude and indignant...that is the nicest way to describe Zule Munoz. She thinks customer service is raising her voice, talking over you and when you ask for a manager...hanging up on you. There are plenty of options to choose from...try Desert Alarm...I had them at work and they never acted like the folks at Maximum Security. read more
