I only gave them a one star because I did not have an option for anything lower. This company provides the worst customer service and employee attitude that I have ever received. We were customers for thirteen years and there was no appreciation for our long term commitment to them. We cancelled our service because we sold our house and were moving and the difficulty of cancelling our service was amazing. Evidently the cancellation policy requires 30 days notice and they definitely hold you to that policy. The company representatives were hard to understand and they also had a hard time understanding what I was saying. So I just moved in to a new neighborhood, I started with ADT (in retrospect should never have considered switching) a vivint representative by the name of Lucas came to talk to us and painted "how "great vivint is" we told him that we were in contract with adt and he legit said " oh don't worry we'll pay adt contract out" well this was December 2021 we are now on April 2022. I only noticed that I was still with ADT because I was contacted on a past due balance since I lost my card that I had linked to my account. Well turns out, been paying double. I was extremely irate called Vivint; was literally on hold for over 30 minutes, then transferred around more that 4 times wound up talking to a "manager" by the name of Joel. Joel apparently couldn't help me out after back and forth he states "ok I'll put in a request so we can pay ADT and I'm sorry for the inconvenience." I'm at this point one hour and 45 minutes in, out of my day with a joke of a company that I do not want to be in. I informed Joel that I am not happy with the service, I think I deserve to be able to be out of the contract as you guy promise and are unable to go through with what you guys promised me with initially. I stated "I want to stay with ADT as you guys never paid it off." A lot more back and worth and ended up with "if you want it'll be 3,882.30 to cancel the contract. Isn't this great. Manager can't even help? Well my neighborhood is building new houses still, so new neighbors and are coming in. I'll save everybody a headache and a very bad experience with Vivint as I will take it upon myself to let them know what my experience was so they can avoid it . I was intruded upon by a salesman who identified himself as Miguel M Gutierrez. He did not say that he was from Vivant, but said that he had upgrades for my current system with ADT. After a short intro, he began with the packages that would cover the upgrades. Still continuing on the dialog of upgrades. I told him I was not interested in the cost of the upgrades as I installed my system less that 2 years prior and it is paid in full. If I told him once, I told him at least 10 times I was not interested in his product. He continued ignoring my declination of the service. He had no respect of my answers and then told me he spent all this time and offered me money for in exchange for the product. Finally after a "No, I DO NOT WANT THIS!!" He packed up and left. Another problem with this instance is I live in a retirement community that has elderly people who are on a fixed income. Absolutely terrible company. No one knows anything. They put you on hold for 40 minutes...yes 40 minutes and then disconnect the call. Their repairmen (who came to fix the inverter which does not even a year after install) decide it's ok to NOT wear a mask in a pandemic! RUN AS FAR AS YOU CAN FROM THEM!! THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. This is the fourth time we have tried to get help with this same problem. The people who are outsourced do not know what they are doing and will not try to find someone to talk to in Utah. When you speak to a "supervisor" they give a song and dance and apparently there is no one in corporate who can be contacted. The sales department bends over backwards to help and then tough luck if you need any other help. Frustration level HIGH! There should be a zero rating because a one star is too much! read more

What an absolute waste of time and money. If I could, they would get half a star rating. Had I know more about this company, I would have never done business with them, much less allow them into my home to install their greatly overpriced security system. Their technician who installed their system, incorrectly wired their thermostat to my HVAC system's furnace. He replaced my existing, new thermostat with their model and left a hole in the wall that I had to patch and paint. He also failed to install sensors on my home's windows to detect intruders. When it became winter and I turned on the heat, the heat came on but would not turn off. When I called to report the problem, I was placed on hold for 40 minutes before connecting with a service person who was apparently working from home somewhere in India, judging from his accent and the sound of children yelling and dogs barking in the background. After over an hour on the phone with him, he was unable to resolve the problem. He scheduled a repairperson visit, but not for 3 weeks. I had to call another number and waited on hold again in an attempt to expedite the repair. Someone I spoke to said they would do what they could to shorten the 3 week wait. No matter, it still took 3 weeks to get a repair visit. Mind you, this was in December and to have heat I would have to manually turn the system on until the house was warm and then manually turn it off. When the repairman finally arrived, he found that the thermostat had been incorrectly wired to the HVAC system, which he corrected. When I asked about why window sensors weren't initially installed, he told me that was an extra $50 per window. This is interesting in that there is probably about a buck's worth of materials involved in each sensor. I had paid Vivint about $2,000 for 3 door sensors, a motion detector, a fire alarm sensor and an incorrectly installed thermostat that I didn't need. Plus ongoing monthly fees of about $20. Had I read the Yelp reviews on this company, I would have never done business with them. read more

Their monitoring service was marginal at best. Their record for even contacting us when the alarm would sound was only 15% of the time. It was horrible. So why have a monitoring service? After calling to cancel the service after moving from California to Texas, they continue to charge my account after repeated calls informing them that I'd cancelled the service. I'd also received two letters from Vivint saying my service panel was no longer operating. Well, yeah, the new owner put in her own system. So now after three months of not having their system in operation and cancelling it, they're still attempting to withdraw payment from my account and will not refund the money they have stolen for services not rendered. I wish there were sub-1 stars on this application. My experience with Vivint from day one has been the worst. From their company values and their tactics to "get the client into a long term contract" to products that don't work and Vivint asking the consumer to pay for someone to come and fix them and a waiting period to get something fixed because they "don't serve this area" but the consumer cannot get out of the contract. I thought my bad experiences would end there but yesterday I got a phone call from a sales person who (after I told him that I was waiting for the contract to end so I can cancel) ignored anything I was saying and offered to "upgrade my panel" for an additional $600 to be paid in 4 years so they could still support my cameras when 5G becomes available. "Start paying now so you can be ready for 5G". I asked him to explain my benefits and he couldn't. The reason is very simple, the wireless industry as a whole doesn't know yet how legacy products will be affected with 5G if at all. The sales tactics reminded me of the initial sale when they promised me an automated gate opener for free and after signing the contract someone said that Vivint doesn't support gate openers. Learn from my experience, get yourself a RING system compatible with Amazon Alexa and don't pay monthly payments for something you don't use!! read more

Vivint left my home unsecured for days with no recognition as to what was going on. I was traveling overseas and my husband discovered that our entire system was down. I must first say I am not writing about the Palm Springs location, but that is the one that popped up. I am writing about the San Bernardino County location, if a separate one exists. Having said that, I have had this alarm system in my house for three months. I have had alarm systems for years from their big competitor ADT who did an excellent job at installation and response. however, this company is nothing but a horror story from day two. Day one was pretty good. A nice young man showed up in his orange attire and asked us to try their services. We obliged. I was moving to a new home and figured well they seemed nice enough and were a big company. Their sign was also better with a night light on it for criminals to see. The install went well and everything was fine for a few weeks. then the number one on the keypad stopped working. We got a few false alarms. This defect can happen, right? the service people came out and convinced us not to use the number one in our code. all was well for another couple weeks. At this point the ghost in the machine completely took over the keypad. It was not possible to enter a code without the alarm going off by itself. The police came a few times. The unit sent out silent alarms. It was blatantly obvious that the keypad unit was defective. About fifty false alarms and three weeks later, another service person arrived. At this point, one of the alarm doors was not functioning correctly and it had to be bypassed. I also had a hard time hearing from all the loud alarms that had gone off. This is not to mention that the four hour window for the serviceman person to arrive had not be met. He showed up an hour beyond the window time without any reasonable explanation. When I called the company, they had no idea where he was! They put in a new keypad unit and all seemed well. This was just yesterday though. I really would have let it go at that point, but guess what? When I tried to arm the system last night, a window showed open and had to be bypassed! So, the serviceperson came out and caused a new problem I didn't even have before. They will come out again in a week. I hope they do anyway. In their defense, they offered me a free month for all my trouble when I connected with the cancellation department, but now with this new problem, I think they should throw in a couple fobs. By the way, they refused to do this before, though ADT was glad to do that to get and keep your business. If this unit is not fixed next time, I WILL cancel and call ADT. They will give me excellent service and free fobs. Hey, what else can you ask for? read more

Wow, I'm without words! There are absolutely no positive things I can say of my experience with Vivant Security. It's obvious that they are NOT UL when I've called I wait 40 mins. to speak to someone, I been promised service by 4 separate employees and all are two weeks out! My system is less than 1 yr old and doesn't work and its not considered an emergency! The supervisor said they have too many new installations to service, they contract out all the work so they are reliant on someone else for service calls. They could not find me by my acct number and in case of an emerg. I believe you are out of luck! NEVER AGAIN! To show how stupid these people are the guy says he will have someone out tomorrow between 2-5pm, if they can't make it they will notify me in 72 hrs?! Really? Absolutely the worst home security system and company. I have had problems with almost every device installed: Cameras just decided to stop communicating with the router and the system, the door locks have failed twice, the main box just kicked me out of the system randomly, and the thermostat would kick on, kick off, and then kick on again... this blew out my compressor for my AC. When I tried to have them come out and fix the thermostat, it took them a long time to get here, further putting a strain on the compressor. Then when they finally got there to fix it, they had added a random router to the house without mentioning anything to me. I already had one that was compatible, and I did not need this nor the extra drain on my electricity. I tried to order a second camera. They tell me the camera costs $140. To have it installed was about $500. I told them to just send me the camera. They said they can't do that, because a tech has to set it up. IT IS A STANDARD WIFI CAMERA THAT PLUGS INTO A WALL OUTLET!!! I even offered to sign a waiver releasing them of any responsibility for me doing the "work" myself. They still refused. How about just saying the camera costs $500. The only reason they didn't get zero stars is because I couldn't figure that out. For $68 a month, you can find far better service and equipment. And for God's sake, DONT GET A CONTRACT WITH THEM!!! read more

Broken equipment (smoke detector, doorbell, doorbell camera, thermostat), slow repair time for repeatedly malfunctioning equipment (1-2 weeks) , terrible repair time for necessary equipment (thermostat, 1-2 weeks with triple digit temperatures). Unwieldy, uncaring and clueless customer support system that will randomly "drop" calls, promise to "have someone/a supervisor call in 30 minutes or 24-48 hours and never call back, reschedule repair appointments without notification and finally have a supervisor tell my wife "call consumer affairs if you are unhappy. The number is 1-800-.....". I would never recommend this company to anyone I have a shred of respect for and that goes for the dead people too. read more

I'd rather give this company no stars! We had Vivint Home Security System at our previous home. When we sold our home we called Vivint to transfer our system to our new home, and we're told by three representatives they don't move service and we would have to buy-out our contract for $573.00 to Capital One. Vivint said they did not get notice of the buy-out, and were charging us monthly service charge for July, August, Sept. Oct. & Nov. and in December were told Vivint required a written letter stating to stop service. Again more calls from Vivint demanding payment. We had to contact Capital One and resend pay-off copy of loan. we payed the extra months and got a confirmation letter of payment and were told by Vivint that the account was paid-off in full. February 2021 we now get a bill from Vivint for $141.00. We are tired of this continued harassment and have turned our complaint over to Business Consumer Alliance for help! Today we were scammed by a representative that told us since we had installed an Edison energy meter, it was a state mandated requirement to have an interview about it. Only ten minutes, it would take. I told this person it smelled of a solar sales scam and he was barking up the wrong tree. He convinced me to look at the Edison panel to assess it. Afterwards. the whole spiel began about saving money with Vivint compared to Edison. I was polite and told him we would look into it. We looked them up on Yelp and found so many negatives and untruths, we would never do business with company, as we caution you do the same. read more

We've had massive issues with them over the duration of the contract we signed but most currently I am sitting at our house with our smoke detector going off and Vivint refusing to send a technician out because it 'looks fine' on their end. I have 3 animals at home stressed to the max because we can't get it to stop beeping. The most they have offered is to mail us a different smoke detector that we then install ourselves. We've replaced the batteries and called them twice. I truly can imagine what this would be like if we had a baby or children in the house. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I'm not the type to write a bad review unless it's something that is egregious and has been consistent. Vivint has been both. Save your money and your sanity and go with someone else. I think I am off to a very bad start with this company. We have never had an alarm system before so this is our first experience. the sales person did not return my call at the time he said he would, actually never returned my call - I called him again. Once I was finally able to place an order for a system, it was a nightmare trying to get an install date. It seems that once they took my payment info, they lost interest in keeping my happy. I have been waiting a full day for a call back from two different people with a date for installation. If I am unable to receive a schedule date by end of day today I am cancelling my order. There was no problems the first 2 yrs until we moved. First, found out that our system had never been updated so the installer who was supposed to be at our house between 10 and 2, but didn't get there till almost 6 couldn't set up system. So we were paying for basically nothing for who knows how long. So, since they couldn't give us an appt. til 3 weeks later I called to cancel. Never told I had to write a cancellation letter until the end of the month. In the meantime they kept phoning to reschedule appt. and I kept telling them I had cancelled. Finally got an email and was told the amt I had to pay to get out of contract. Granted I had been without any service since the 13th of the month. Sent the check in on the 2nd of the following month. They took out the fee from my checking account! So since April 1st have been trying to get them to refund that amt. I just got half the amt last week! I spoke to so many people up to that point that I will never do business with a Utah company! read more

I have been with Vivint for 6 years and have never missed a payment with them and referred Vivint to family and friends. I even got Solar through Vivint. I called to cancel my subscription and I am being told that I still have a year on a 4 year contract that I do not ever remember agreeing to. I explained to Ryan that I am a Small Business owner and can no longer afford to pay for the service. I am already struggling to pay for my essentials and cannot afford this extra monthly payment. This did not matter to Vivint and even with everything going on with this Pandemic and people losing income, they still are keeping me on the hook.
