Disco Birdies may sound playful by name, but make no mistake--this is an establishment that treats its food with precision and care. My recent visit exceeded expectations at every turn, delivering a meal that felt both indulgent and thoughtfully composed. First I would like to note that every dish paired exceptionally well with the champagne we ordered the bottle. It was a very strong example of what a great grower champagne can be. The standout of the evening was the fried chicken sandwich. Beautifully crisp, not greasy, and exceptionally well-seasoned, the chicken was paired with a bright, tangy white sauce and house-made pickles layered on a perfectly toasted bun. Every element served a purpose--nothing was excessive, nothing was missing. We also shared the chicken bites, which arrived piping hot and evenly fried, accompanied by a cool, herbaceous ranch dressing. The texture was spot-on, and they made for a satisfying small plate without feeling heavy. A light mixed greens salad provided balance to the richness of the meal--simple, fresh, and well-dressed. But perhaps the most unexpected delight came from the French fries topped with caviar. Crisp, golden shoestring fries served with a generous dollop of high-quality caviar and a subtle crème fraîche-style sauce--salty, creamy, and utterly indulgent. It's a dish that could easily be mishandled elsewhere, but here it was elegant and composed. Service was smooth and attentive, and the overall ambiance felt intimate without being pretentious. Disco Birdies isn't trying to reinvent fried chicken. What they've done instead is quietly refine it, elevating the familiar into something memorable. A welcome addition to Brooklyn's dining scene--and one I'll return to without hesitation.

Excellent smash burger! I didn't try the champagne or soft serve this time, but I will be back. Beautifully designed space with lots of attention to detail. Very friendly staff, who make you feel really taken care of. Great addition to the neighborhood!

The amazing burger that is here.

Nicely charred where it needed to be. The kind of chicken that makes you pause mid-chew and point at the plate like, okay, now hold on. The beans were killer. Full flavor. Rich. Comforting. Not an afterthought hiding in the corner of the tray pretending to matter. These had real presence. The kind of side dish that starts acting like it pays rent. Deeply satisfying. Very much giving do not overlook me, sweetheart. And the rice? Stand up. Seriously. The rice came in with backup dancer status and somehow turned into co-lead. Fluffy. Well-seasoned. Actually worth eating on its own, which is rare because a lot of restaurant rice just be there for emotional support. This rice had purpose. This rice had ambition. Service kept things moving and the whole place felt easy to enjoy. No extra drama. Just good food doing what it was supposed to do. The atmosphere had that low-key, no-nonsense energy where people clearly came to eat first and talk later. Orders are made at the register as soon as you walk in, even for dine-in orders. I ordered grilled chicken with yellow rice and red beans and a side of sweet plaintains. The chicken was those flat, paper thin strips with grill marks all over. It was tender but not very flavorful. The yellow rice was good and the beans were fine. The sweet plaintains were the best part of my meal. They were cooked nice and brown and they weren't mushy at all. I asked for hot sauce. I was given a cold bottle of hot sauce from the fridge. The dipping sauce helped to give the chicken a little zing. Chicken Stop is a narrowly built restaurant with decent seating, dim lighting and fake grass walls. There was a large, flat-screen TV hanging from the fake grass wall, showing the news. The satellite music was an awful mix of soft rock and country/western. Menu prices are reasonable. I have business in that area now. I'll be dining at Chicken Stop again.

They should have a cheese option that would be amazing! The service is super fast if they are busy the manager( I think it was the manager) was out front helping today and he apologized for the delay! That is amazing customer service! The restaurant is so clean it's always full but the booths and seats are clean! I love that they are always stocked well with napkins and extras at the counter! The quality of the meat from what I read is of outstanding quality which equated to it being far superior to KFC and in my opinion because they don't over season, way better than Popeyes, which always leaves me with a sodium induced migraine. The coleslaw wasn't to my liking, but that's just me. However, the quality of the chicken was superb, lightly battered, but amazingly moist, juicy and not greasy at all. Honestly, I haven't enjoyed chicken like this in a really long time and I was in heaven as I devoured my tendies! The sauce was everything everyone said it was which was delicious and really what makes the chicken so flavorful. I would definitely order again.

The dietary one, had egg in it!!! I had to check the allergy one before I gave it to the person for fear we would need an epiPen. Luckily but still cautious, we didn't. The dietary one couldn't eat the food though, it was given away to a homeless person. We were too far in another city by the time we released the mistake on foods, hence why I said check everything. The taste: it lacked flavor. The best thing on the plate was the Maduros (sweet plantains), avocado, and that green sauce (which they only give small containers for purchase). Would I recommend? Not really. If in a pinch maybe.

I went with the 1/4 chicken combo, which came with rice, beans, a fried egg, and a side salad topped with avocado. The chicken itself had great flavor -- the white meat was a little on the dry side (as expected), but still seasoned well enough to keep it enjoyable. The spicy green sauce and garlic sauce on the table were both excellent and really tied everything together. My total came to $21.78 after tax. Overall, a flavorful and satisfying meal with some solid extras that make the experience stand out.

This Slap Burger has a giant flatscreen, which does not seem setup for the World Cup only and seems great for a change of atmosphere one ordinarily would expect at a fast food burger spot. The menu is a little different for me and not altogether easy to interpret the way it is laid out. So I asked the young woman at the register to place an order for a double cheeseburger with bacon and everything on it to simplify it, along with an order of fries and their C&C cola. The taste of the burger was nothing extraordinary in my opinion, especially in a City with so many choice and highly competitive burger offerings. This was like so many smashed burgers that are all the rage these days. I have not been generally impressed by smashed burgers, so this review is admittedly biased. This offered little to no caramelized edges, which would be one of the big positives for a smashed burger. The slap sauce, which seems to be mustard and mayo with finely minced and blended relish as best I can tell, did not make the case either. The slap sauce was good, but it did not cause me to write home about it. They definitely give you bacon to justify the upcharge, but the cheese was lost in the slap sauce. The fries had a nice fluffy interior, but were not that crispy outside. The fries were good, but ketchup is needed. The C&C cola was quite good. This is a clean location with good service and no real negatives. People of all walks were walking in. It's popular. For $18 and change cash, it's a decent value, especially if you have children. If you have a mature palate looking for the best burger experience, this is not it. 3.3 stars

Even the collard greens (and that's saying something, coming from a Southern transplant). The food is reasonably priced and high on flavor. But this review is less about the menu and more about the level of customer service demonstrated by the owner. A recent Seamless order went wrong, and our Sunday dinner was never delivered. (Unhappy hungry toddler on-board!) All Seamless could offer was a $5 credit and generic "oopsie" apology. I wrote to the restaurant directly to share our disappointment and expected as similarly short response. Instead, the owner called me directly to apologize, promising to make it right. He gave me his personal cell number and invited me to text him ahead of our next order so he could personally ensure a successful delivery. (He even followed up to make sure we didn't forget his offer.) That level of human-to-human customer service is so rare. Big thanks to Yosef & Team at Lula Bird. Looking forward to more Sunday dinners.

Peruvian? Caribbean? Somewhere in between? What kind of cuisine is this?…read more In any event, the rotisserie chicken is not to be messed with. It is full of flavor, albeit not that cheap considering this hole in the wall restaurant is located in an iffy part of Crown Heights. There is nowhere to eat here. Just take your food, walk up to Eastern Parkway, and eat it there... if you are brazen enough. I am not, so I walked to the Nostrand Ave subway station (on the 3 train) and took a roughly 30 minute subway ride home. The sides I got were the coleslaw (it is a vinegar-based slaw, not a mayonnaise based), and the roasted potatoes. They both taste great, along with the famed "green sauce", which is really a spicy Peruvian garlic sauce. No fooling me! I drank this stuff by the gallon when I lived in Virginia. If you get a combo, you also get their famed cornbread, but my goodness is it dense. It feels heavy in the hand, but also contains heavy flavor. They even cook corn bits into the bread itself! Really unique take and something I can definitely appreciate. The Bird is definitely the word here.
