Dirty Laundry Bar was a miss for me on my first visit. I had heard great things from friends, but when we went around eleven at night there were maybe three people inside. It felt completely dead, so we ended up leaving pretty quickly. It is not really the bar's fault and I can imagine it might pick up later in the night. This place was super cool! When you walk in they have a coffee bar but if you want cocktails you have to pick up the phone and listen for someone to give you a combination and the once you enter that into the phone a hidden door opens that is disguised as a laundry machine opens and you walk through into a cocktail longe they have a dance floor and a DJ stage. There is seating indoor, at the bar, and outside. It's so adorable everywhere you go! The drinks were good. I had a margarita and it was good, not the best but it's hard to mess up a margarita. This is a very cool experience as well but I can see where it can get very crowded as the night goes on but if you're in St. Pete I would absolutely recommend this place. read more

BEWARE OF PICKPOCKETS The pickpockets ruin the vibe. Look out for a short young hispanic male under 5ft, likely in his 20s. He is the easiest to spot because he's so short. His accomplice is a female dancing with him and pretending to be a couple and another male. The hispanic female looking slightly older in her 30s around 5'2". The other male stands close to them and looks to be in his 20s around 5'6". Full Story: I first noticed the short guy constantly getting close to my friend and I. Nothing abnormal about that in a bar/ dance setting because guys want to dance with girls, but it started getting shady and creepy because he was actually dancing with a female already and they kept squeezing into my group. They kept bumping and pushing us which forces us to move, but when we move, they followed us. My friend said the female was creepily trying to smell my hair too. Weird. I moved to the other side of my group. The female lead the male and moved from the roomy spot and followed me again. Prompting me to move again and when I turned around I noticed my purse was opened with my phone at a different position and their other male accomplice was right behind me. They were pickpockets. Luckily, I didn't lose anything. We moved to the other side of the club and 5 mins later they left. Right after, my other friend came and told us someone else in the group lost their wallet. My suspicion was confirmed and they were pickpockets. Nothing we can do because they already left and security cant do anything. Connected to Madame Siam next door. We were there on Friday night. It was fun to go in and dance a bit and see the burlesque show. It's a maybe as far as whether we would go back or not. I think there's lots of other bars to check out. It felt a bit like New Orleans and the south as far as how it was decorated and it was also like going into the haunted mansion. Loved dirty laundry! The line was long but we got in pretty quick. It was like an underground situation? Crowded place, music was great and it was super interesting inside, lots of different rooms and bars all around, but it wasn't one of those huge places where you get lost every 10 seconds. We went to this bar because no vacancy had a long line. But once I got there I was pitpocketed. I noticed right after I bought my first drink. I was notified by my bank they used my cards later that night. The next morning I read some of the reviews i saw this isn't the first time. They need to up their security or do something about this. Our large group of friends came here recently on a bar-hopping excursion through Hollywood. We hit up Te'kila first to get some drinks in, then came over to Dirty Laundry. I had heard good things about Dirty Laundry, so I was excited! There were a few people in front of us in line, but we were past security in no time. I firmly say this is the least favorite of the Houston Hospitality bunch. Mainly because it IS basically a basement laundry room and I have no air to breathe? If you're claustrophobic don't even consider this hot spot. There is always a line out front, and I see many people complain about getting in but I've literally never had an issue, both with and without table reservations. The drinks are great, they can make a mean traditional whiskey sour. The bar tenders are busy bee's so don't expect to be frolicking around for long. The lines to get a drink get catty. The music differs depending on the dj but it's usually pretty good. The main issue with this bar is the lack of room to move, or sit if you don't have a table. OH yeah, and breathe. It gets way too stuffy, but the decor is nice. Prohibition era, speak easy typesque. Take it easy, come check it out for yourself. I was there for a birthday party. She have have all good looking friends since she works as a model and does prono. It's seems one of her friends didn't believe me that I know her. He does not want me in the group. I know I'm overweight and not the best looking. So her friend complained about me. I gave the bouncer my side of the story. I love that there were two rooms with different genres of music. That gave me a chance to switch between EDM and hip-hop. The only drawback is that you cannot handle the crowd that came to watch the shows. And to be totally honest I felt like they did not like the hip-hop show that was going on. I perused the Yelp reviews after my visit and any complaining seems to revolve around overcrowding and irritated door guys and/or stressed staff that work here but honestly that sounds par for a Friday night in Hollywood. I came on a weeknight and had zero problems whatsoever so who knows, maybe I'll be all "I was totally wrong you guys fuck this place" after trying out a Friday night. But then again I understand (as most people should) that trendy places on Friday/Saturday nights in Hollywood are *all* packed, they *all* have staff running around bat shit crazy trying to get to everyone, you just have to hope that the overall experience and drink list is worth the few bumps in the road caused by a Friday/Saturday night. We rolled through on a Wednesday and it was perfect, just the right amount of people, the music was tremendous, and the bartenders were stellar. "Free samples from your mixology booze slushee machine? Why thank you, good sir. Wait, is that a tequila, habanero, cherry and lime slushee?? Holy shit that's good." I think we had three drinks each and every one of them was a complete delight to the senses. I can totally see how some people would love this place and others would hate it. This is very much a trendy place with a very strong cocktail game. I've been to Roger Room probably two dozen times because it offers the same except Dirty Laundry is in Hollywood and has a bit of a party vibe with the music. This place is very much a lounge, totally not a club and not just a bar, but a lounge. I dig it. If you're the 100% dive bar type who thinks $13 cocktails are lame and trendy people are obnoxious then just save yourself the trouble. If you are looking to get wild, looking for a Hollywood club scene to be a fucking awful party spaz at then take that shit elsewhere. But if you want to kick back and feel slick with cocktails offering depth of flavor, enjoy a dark provocative decor and some great music, then this may very well be your jam. Dirty Laundry Bar is somewhere between being a club and a bar. There's a DJ in the back room and bottle service can be ordered... but there isn't particularly much dancing going on. The crowd is definitely a "club" crowd and getting in the door can be difficult like a club. We had reservations through the publicist that just got us in the door. To sit at a table, there's a $200 minimum spend. Without a table, there's nowhere to sit, save for once couch in the back room that we managed to grab on to for the most of the night. There was no "password" to get in (at least for us) as others have stated. It definitely has a speakeasy vibe, being located underground, where you'd never expect there to be a bar. To get there, you need to go down a staircase from the street level. The only way of knowing where the door is is the bouncer standing outside. The entrance is just around the corner from No Vacancy, which it sits under. When you first enter, it looks like it's a very small bar, but if you go to the back there's another room (with a DJ and where we spotted certain celebs hanging out), and there's also an outside smoking area. The vibe is cool.. rule #1 of the house rules actually states "no name-dropping, whining or star-fu*king" which hits the nail on the head in this part of town. Hopefully the vibe stays cool as people find out about Dirty Laundry and those star-f*ckers try to get in the door. They have an array of interesting cocktails and prices aren't terrible. I was partial to the vodka cucumber cocktail but switched to vodka soda because the small bar in the back room doesn't serve specialty cocktails. Randomly went to this bar instead of going to a next door club which had insane lane. Result was we did not regret our decision at all. This is literally an underground bar with efficient, talented and friendly bar tenders. The crowd is very eclectic but not pretentious at all, everyone here was there to have a good time and not being here as posers as you can unfortunately experience in many Hollywood bars.
