Had a great lunch experience. Our waitress was amazing and the food was great. All you can eat fried seafood and fries for $20 at lunch you can't beat that. Manager even stopped by to check on our visit. 5 stars read more

The food we had was good, so that's the main point of a restaurant. We both had the $16 something lunch deal. The service, ehh not so much. The waitress had us move tables after we had already gotten situated and were looking at the menu because she said it would be "inconvenient for her" to hand us our food. She made several offhand comments about our toddler (who was being as good as gold). For example, our toddler is in the picky phase so we ordered her fries, the waitress said "uh are you sure that's all she will eat?" She made us feel very rushed and like we were a bother to her the whole time. The restaurant has the potential to be fun but it was a little dirty. I'm not sure with all of the options in the area, I would go back. I would like to give it a 2.5 stars. read more

My husband and I ate here Monday night. It was after 8 when we arrived but the restaurant didn't close till 9. The manager, I think that's who he was, was going to seat us at one of the taller bar style tables, but I asked if we could sit at a lower table because of my bad legs. So he did. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. She didn't rush us at all. We first ordered a bowl of the She Crab Soup which was real good with plenty of crab in it. We knew if was getting late so we went ahead before we finished our soup and let her know we decided to order something else from the menu. We decided to share the crab cake dinner since it came with 2, some potatoes and green beans. The crab cakes were delicious and full of good crabmeat with a yummy flavor. My husband didn't even need to add his Old Bay I keep in my purse wherever we go because so many restaurants will say what they have is that, but one taste and we know it's not. The hushpuppies they brought out were really good too. We ate them all. I would have given them 5 stars except I felt the green beans were undercooked. I'm wondering if the kitchen staff rushed them or if that's how they always serve them? I like them crispy tender. But these were a not exactly that. I also have to hand it to the gentleman who mans the gift shop inside. He had come up to our table to ask if we might be wanting to shop in the gift shop after we finished eating. I told him probably not to go ahead and close but thanked him for asking first. We had been reading the menu board of things from the steamer and we were curious how big the Lg Blue Crabs were. Our waitress told us they were 7 inches across. Six of them was $39. Sounded like a fair price since we paid a little more up near Annapolis, MD for the same amount and size. As we were leaving my husband asked the manager about the raw oysters and if they were good ones and a nice size. We had eaten at BK Shuckers last time about 2 weeks ago and he was disappointed in them because they were small. He was told the ones they had were from Louisiana and he showed my husband a couple of unshucked ones. He said they've been pretty good and plump inside. So I think my husband wants to go back and try them. The sign said 1/2 dozen for $9.99. ( I know we'll never find the deal like we had up in Deale, MD on a special evening, in season, for 0.25 each! Both my husband and son were ecstatic over them! ) I hope when we return we will have as pleasant an experience as this time. (So shocked to read some bad reviews as I was beginning to write my good one. I sure hope if others come based on mine, they won't be disappointed). read more

Visiting from Oregon. This place fucking sucked. They sure knew how to mix a Redbull Vodka... but as the food came out the server said to me: "sorry they don't serve what you ordered right now. Would you like to order something else while your friends eat in front of you?" I said "No Thanks" and drank a couple Redbull and Vodkas... One of my friend's shrimp platter was frozen shrimp cooked too long and under flavored and the other friend's plate had the distinct flavor of frozen veggies and fish, that was reheated up. Nothin but a bunch of hillbilly rednecks who don't know anything about quality and cleanliness. Do yourself a favor and DON'T EAT AT THIS SHITTY PLACE. OMG - outstanding food and service. Rachel - our server - was friendly and efficient with excellent good reviews. I had the spareribs she recommended which were delicious. The chicken Alfredo was yummy. She made sure to remind us to get the lobster special add on, ( which we did) and now I'm so full. Wow. Overrated. We had a large party and service started out well. Gator bites were great till they ran out of the dipping sauce. One of our group ordered a filet. Came out looking like a sirloin and over cooked. Sent back and got the same again. They said they were out of filets but could sub a sirloin. To their credit they did take it off the bill after we spoke to management and requested it. A lot of food but nothing special. Dropped $300 on a party of 8. Not again. read more

Although my meal was delicious, I must say it was very overpriced for what I recieved. The jambalaya was tasteless, but the seafood skewer was cooked to perfection! The hushpuppies were just okay, I think they may have been twice fried? Anyway, when in the area again, this isn't a place I'd revisit. read more

We recently visited the Outer Banks, (usually go to Hilton Hilton head and now I know why.) we had a number of things to celebrate (3 birthdays, a graduation, anniversary, and a few other milestones) so we took our party of 9 out to dinner. We hoped for a great crab leg dinner. After being seated, ordering our drinks, and deciding what we wanted, the waitress informed us they were out of snow crab and also out of king crab. Had I know this before sitting down, we would have left. IT IS UNFORGETTABLE TO BE OUT OF AN ITEM THAT IS IN YOUR MENU. I would have given a 0 star review if I could. Yes oh yes! Best hush puppies around. Had a bit of a wait but we'll worth it for the delicious Bloody Mary appetizer. They created it with their fresh homemade mix. Dinner was broiled crabcakes with lump jumbo crab meat (oh my goodness). A half pound of snow crab legs with a side of corn was delicious. My husband enjoyed the best fried shrimp in his life. They were made to order as jumbo sized as you get! And, they didn't have the crunchy tail that you hide to fight around eating it. Would go back in a heart beat! read more

My husband and I were so hungry because we had been driving around for hours trying to find a place open off-season. This place got many great reviews. Although I got a shrimp po boy that I didn't think could get too messed up they didn't put anything but shrimp lettuce tomato and pickles on there despite the fact that their menu stated that it came with red gravy which I was excited for. Mine came very dry with no sauce on it and when I asked the waitress if it was supposed to come with a sauce she said "No ma'am". Kinda frustrated. My family and I ate at Dirty Dick's the Saturday after Thanksgiving, 2022. Good food, good service, and a nice, family-friendly atmosphere. Would definitely recommend the Broiled Seafood Platter! On a more personal note, I would like to express my gratitude to the gentleman (manager or possibly an owner?) that was making rounds on guests while we were there. I was breastfeeding my then 2 month-old son at our table. Having endured some rude behavior from close family members regarding breastfeeding in public, I was slightly uncomfortable with the situation; however, my son needed to be fed. The gentleman that stopped by to ask if we needed anything was very polite, asked how the food was, and checked to see if we needed anything. As he was walking away, he stopped suddenly, turned, and said, "I just now realized what you were doing! That's great; I'm a big supporter of breastfeeding." It meant so much to have someone be so complimentary and non-judgmental to an exhausted, frustrated mom. I truly appreciate the kindness! read more

We came in when it was slow and quiet, so I'm unsure of what it would be like when it's full or busy lol but our server was friendly and took time to answer all of our questions and explained too! Everything was fun and great! *The only criticism I would have for the food would be maybe that it needs a sauce or something to go along with what we ordered because most of it was just dry? I'm unsure if there was a sauce or something else available but never asked! The butter and lemon just didn't do it for me! (Sorry!) my time there was definitely worth it and I would come again! read more

Oooh weeee y'all! I've had an amazing dining experience at Dirty Dick's Crab house, the FOOD & the service...was the bomb.com! Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and very helpful in assisting us with choosing our dish. The fresh catch seafood is market price, so depending on the time of the year you come the prices will vary. Sooooo...I started out with "Dick's addiction drink" with Malibu rum, blackberry liqueur, cranberry juice & sprite & it was delish! Super smooth & you could taste the rum but not too overwhelming. It comes in a souvenir cup for $10.99. They brought out hush puppies with a honey butter. The hush puppies had a good flavor, but a little too crunchy for my liking which is why I deducted one star. For my entree, I got the blackened chicken pasta and it was THE ONE! So good and full of flavor! The chicken was super tender and seasoned to perfection and the Alfredo sauce was jammed packed with flavorrrrr! That prob was one of my favorite pastas that I've had at a restaurant. Literally nothing was missing. Only thing I would change is the stale bread they added to the side. Lol! They could of kept it. read more

Great food, great atmosphere, great service, amazing ambiance. I love this place. Awesome spot to relax.

We always figured this place was a gimmick based on the advertisements. But after yet another person told us we should go, we decided to give it a try. The decor is absolutely "crab shack" and nothing special. Service was decent, but we were not there at a busy time. Server was attentive, manager came by to check on us. Food surprised! Our dishes came out in a reasonable time, were good and hot, and well seasoned. The flavor profile surprised us for a "crab house". I wouldn't go so far as to say it was gourmet, but it was a notch better than I expected. The special of the day, a seafood mix in a cream sauce served in a bread bowl was particularly good. I'm sure they were using up some of the less than visually perfect scallops and shrimp in this "soup", but that's ok. Tasted great! Now, I've seen the parking lot, and lines out the door at busy times. Do I think it is worth waiting in that line? Absolutely not. But if you go when there isn't a line, do I think it's worth a shot? Absolutely! Ignore the silly marketing, and opt for the special if they have one. Whoever runs the place can cook. read more

Delicious food, fast and friendly service, great atmosphere! Not your gimmicky place, will def be back!

Dirty Dick's is exactly what it's supposed to be. A gimmicky tourist place at best. There are no locals here. The food was just fine but this is the kind of place you'll only stop once. We rode in on our motorcycles waaay past lunch time and we were hungry. I got the big fish sandwich and it was A-OK. The place has plenty of nautical kitsch and an overpriced but well stocked gift shop. I left with a Dirty Dicks t-shirt. It is worth one stop. read more

Ha, this is a hilarious place! My partner and I took both sets of our parents in, and after their shock of the tee shirts wore off, they saw the humor in all of the sexual puns. I give this spot 3 stars because the food is just meh. They give you super large portions, and the food is decent- it's just not anything to write home about. We got the fried gator to start, and then almost all of us went from the broiler seafood platter. The service was okay- I will say my mother-in-law got the shrimp scampi pasta and it came out cold, then she had to wait quite a while to get a new one made. That's always tough with a table of 6 and one person doesn't have food! Overall we probably have done our one time trip in- the humor of the place is something though. read more

Stop what you are doing and check this out: Someone is actually providing High Availability Breakfast Buffet on the OBX. I kid you not. DDix is currently serving a full fledged breakfast buffet every single day of the week from 8am - 11:30am. This is the first summer that they are doing this. Everyone needs to go so that they will continue to do this. And it's a GREAT breakfast buffet. They make their own sausage - delicious! They serve smoked salmon and it is so FRESH! And the reason why there are no more french toast sticks? Oh yeah - my husband ate them all. They have an omelette & pancake station. I'm weird - I attempt to eat "healthy" at buffets. So I asked the very kind lady at the station to assemble my omelette using one egg and a whole bunch of whites. She said "Sure!" and said that it would take a bit extra because she had to beat the eggs to my liking. Not even five minutes later, they bring my omelette to me (I didn't have to wait). It was MASSIVE and very tasty. The only reason that I can think of that this place isn't packed to the gills during this time is because word hasn't gotten out yet. At 13 bucks an adult and kids and seniors eating even for less...people need to know about this. After a morning workout and before you head to the beach - stop at this place for some breakfast that everyone will love! PS - I also enjoy their dinners very much. But I wanted to give a little thunder to their new HA breakfast offering. Outstanding! read more

Sat at the bar with a party of three. The fried shrimp Po boy sandwich was huge. Shrimp were fried delicately and very tasty. The bread was delicious. The house-made potato chips were very good. All in all, a tasty and very large plate of food for a lunch, the two other guests had the she crab soup and rated it highly. June 20, 2017 Great food and service. My husband and I ordered stuffed Crab Dip, Stuffed Flounder, a side of slaw, and also had complimentary hush puppies. Everything was tasty. I'm not a fan of celery seeds in my slaw. We would recommend eating here and will return again to this friendly atmosphere. Rating of four stars for Dinner. June 24,2017 Update. Had breakfast this morning. They need to stick to their main menu. Very disappointing. Would not recommend. Service was poor. It's like they didn't know what to do. A lot of the food was unidentifiable. Food was not flavored to taste for sure. We heard there was a menu to order from the menu, but that was not an option given to us. We've literally sat here for 30 minutes and we have yet to receive our drink order... they gave us the tired, lame excuse of a shift change. And then admitted we were forgotten about.... They offered a free second round of drinks with a 15% off discount, which is great, except that the 15% discount is offered to everyone. Everyday. With the coupon guide.... And only 1/3 of our table ordered a second drink. Poor management. So, they offered us a bigger discount, which did help. However, they didn't take it off every item. They admitted their mistake and said to fix it, they would have to recharge our credit card and the existing charge would stay for 5 days. How many times do you have to screw up a table instead of making excuse after excuse. By the way, it took 45 minutes for us to get our drinks. We should have just walked out. The food wasn't that good to wait and eat. Go to Sugar Creek and save yourself the frustration. This is very disappointing to say the least. read more

Let me start off by saying, we were super excited to come here because there slogan was hilarious! The only reason they even got a two star review was because of their gator bites and their T shirts (which were over priced). The gator bites would be the only thing I would recommend. The fried pickles were good too but I mean you can't really mess up fried pickles, let's be real! I ordered the snow crabs. For $31.00 I expected more. They were over cooked, barely any meat in the legs and one claw. Not to mention either they stereo typed me because I'm young and gave me the crappiest cluster they could find or they just buy crappy quality crabs. Either way it's unacceptable I am a paying customer! A friend ordered the fried fish sandwich which looked huge!!! Come to find out it was mostly breading... another disappointment.
