This has been one of our favorite spots over the last 2-3 years. Always a wait for dinner but have a great ambience with fun games outside and can grab a drink and listen to the live music while waiting. For appetizers, the shrimp and tomato app and scallops is a must. We got these both times and look forward to them every year. For dinner, I got the cheesesteak with homemade whiz sauce which hit the spot and plenty of leftovers for me. Fries were also delicious. Excellent dinner! Went the Wednesday prior to Memorial weekend and there was a 1.5 hour wait. We went to the bar outside a found a couple of seats because it was a gorgeous evening. Great outside area just beyond the bar with chairs, cornhole , etc for everyone to enjoy. After a few drinks a couple of more seats opened up and we decided to just eat at the bar. The bartender couldn't have been better! A great personality and very attentive to everyone at the bar and yes, the drinks were great! Food was delicious. We haven't been back in over three years so this is a new review for them! Three times was the charm for us to get in as the times and lines can be long! But we arrived earlier than the normal dinner hour and only had a 10 minute wait and with a 92 year old - the waiting time matters! We chose several items from the menu including crab cake dinners, fish and chips, buffalo shrimp, the mahi BLT and two of the night specials - sesame crusted tuna stir fry and the sandbar seafood platter. The food was amazing and plentiful and I wish I had ordered the stir fry as that was literally top notch! Amazing calamari appetizer to start. I had the mahi mahi BLT and it came with Handcut fries..wowzers. My wife had the fish n chips and she loved it. Great food and service in bright, sunny restaurant which is modern with a beachy feel. Dined here for lunch and was very happy with the meal. I had the blackened mahi-mahi BLT sandwich which was perfectly cooked and served with over a pound of french fries. Not going to lie; the fries were fantastic. Nicely seasoned and not greasy. I ended up eating the mahi open-faced to avoid spilling on myself but the fish, tomato slice and lettuce were all delicious. It also came with a crisp pickle spear. My wife got the ceasar salad and added a skewer of blackened shrimp. The shrimp were tasty but could have stood a little more spice. They have a nice wine selection including a good selection available by the glass. Also a nice beer selection with some local/NC beers on tap. I observed all of the staff being very friendly and helpful to patrons throughout the restaurant. I will definitely be back and looking forward to trying it for dinner. read more

I had the Fried Fish with French Fries I will highly recommend the regular tartar sauce my meal was amazing and if you have more than 5 people it will be a blast. My grandma got the Caesar Salad with Chicken it was very good. My waitress was amazing!!!!! She did great at serving my family's food. This is the first time I've tipped 30% because the server went above and beyond explaining the menu and making suggestions. The food got mixed reviews only because my kids are very picky but they said the fries were amazing. The cheesesteak sandy was unique so make sure you like lots of cheese, which my husband did. In the last year or two they've moved to a much larger building (which was very much needed because they're so popular). Parking can be tight depending on what time you go, but GO! This new location has a second floor! They have daily specials, though I'll always get the fried oysters if they're available. TIP: make a reservation well in advance! My husband and I walked in for an early dinner, and were told the wait was 2.5 hours. Luckily bar seating is first come first served and we were able to snag seats quickly. Our orders came out relatively quickly. The fish was and chips were pretty good, just needed salt. Such a treat. For the appetizer, we had the special which was the shark bites. The shark bites were amazing. The shark was firm but not tough. The sauce with it complemented it perfectly. The catch of the day was a blackened tilefish. The risotto the fish was on was good as well as the fish itself. Nothing amazing but definitely delicious. For dessert we had the flourless chocolate torte which was just like a slice of fudge. It was dense and super chocolatey with a little bit of whipped cream to add a creaminess. Delicious dessert. Arrived with a toddler in tow with a distant memory from a trip years back of the good eats at blue moon. despite the wait for a private table, the hostess suggested we join the community table. With no wait we headed over and from there the accommodations exceeded expectation! We approached an empty (and tall) community table. I was hesitant since so many high chairs are average table height but to my surprise the tallest high chair i've ever seen was brought to us. The restaurant was clean and neat, greeted as soon as we opened the door. The waiter was super sweet and friendly and made sure we knew the ins and outs of the restaurant. They have the BEST Cesar salad I've ever had in my life!! I always add it as a side to my meal. I've had a number of entrees here that are good, usually get the fish special which has always been delicious. Service is good but definitely expect a 1-2 hour wait during summer. Our server Paxton was FANTASTIC!!! He helped make our decisions easy because there were so many great options. RESERVATIONS are a MUST!! The lemon cream sauce could've come have been left out of the bowl. It was very bland and not lemony or garlic at all. Absolutely delicious and compliments the seafood well. Hubbylicious got the cheesesteak ('wiz without' - iykyk). Their wiz type cheese is homemade and is not salty like the store-bought type. It went well with the steak and flaky hoagie. The fries are hand cut and cooked to a light crisp. FANTASTIC BIRTHDAY LUNCH!! My grown daughter knocked over her water, and with in a second (no exaggeration) within a second of the clink of the landing glass, from behind came Jaimie, with a rag. We drove into OBX and wanted to stop by this hot spot for dinner around 8pm. The owners are from our hometown of Staunton, so we like to stop by when we can. This place was happening! 2+ hour wait for a table, but bar is first come, first serve and there were two seats for us! For those that do wait, they gave an awesome outside area with plenty of hang out room and they had live music. Bartenders were super busy, but attentive and efficient! Absolute must visit in OBX I mean this food is absolutely incredible. I had the crab cake sandwich which just blew my socks off and then some. One of the best ways I have ever spent 18 bucks. The jalepeno remolaude was the perfect sauce to pair with my broiled crab cake. Healthy portion size too. The fries were spectacular as well. I thought this would be overhyped but it was not. We had an awesome server (Colby). He was so attentive, knowledgeable, and just on point all night. Kudos to him! He was one of the more memorable servers I've had anywhere. We had a nice table inside surrounded by really cool artwork. It wasn't too loud. Our food came pretty quick. We got the brussel sprouts and calamari apps. Very good! For entrees, I got the catch of the day which was swordfish and my husband had fish tacos. The wait was food was so long (60+ min) but it did taste really good. Portion size is ideal, prices are fair, service is decent, and ambient noise and temperature is at a reasonable level. I recommend having a reservation during busy season. We had 4 people in our party and did not have a reservation. It took an hour for our table to be ready (they did accurately inform us it would be a 45-60 min wait). We waited at the bar while enjoying appetizers and drinks. The first appetizer arrived quickly and the second took so long we thought it was forgotten. Our awesome bartender assured us it was going to come out soon and it did. He also kept our drinks filled. The appetizers were excellent. We finished appetizers and drinks in 45 minutes then waited for our table at the bench near the hostess stand. Fifteen minutes later we were seated at a table in the dining area. Cory, our server, was attentive and welcoming. We ordered quickly and then waited another hour for our food. We enjoyed each of the items ordered including the Chicken Cordon Blue Moon, Truckstop, and Bouillabaisse. So this is the second time I have gone to this restaurant...this time in the new location. It is an absolutely gorgeous restaurant the atomosphere is so welcoming and the service is the best in the OBX! There was 5 of us there for dinner....we skipped apps and went right to the entrees. I ordered the rib eye medium rare and it was cooked to perfection.....but it was tough and under seasoned ...not what I was hoping for as my first visit in the old location was the same. The fried oyster were incredible and plentiful......the special fish of the day was just okay...but the bed it was on was fantastic. I didn't try the other two dishes but was told they were great!
