The perfect first night in the Outer Banks! Great food, great vibes, and the sunset was absolutely perfect. We started with the Brussels sprouts and pork belly special, and they were insanely good: crispy, savory, and easily one of the highlights of the meal. The Old Bay shrimp were delicious and felt like a friendly little reminder of home in the DMV. But the real star was the flounder with lump crab. I truly cannot say enough about it. I thought the calamari was good (1st time trying), where as my boyfriend didn't think it was "the best he's ever had" but again still didn't think it was bad by any means. The food was delicious at Miller's Waterfront! Everyone in my party enjoyed what they ordered. Our server was great! She was attentive and helpful. The only thing that was kind of a bummer was that we decided to sit at the bar while waiting for our table and there is a large staircase to get to the bar which was difficult for one of the elderly people in my party. Absolutely loved this place. Extremely family friendly and service was great. Came here on Easter Sunday for an early lunch and we were seated right away. Food came out really quick, perfect when you have inpatient kids. My husband and I both ordered the combo fried basket and got the coconut shrimp, flounder, regular shrimp, and fried oysters. The seafood here is insanely good and was so fresh. We also shared calamari and spinach dip which was also a 10/10! Man, this place is loud. It was so noisy inside that it was hard to even hear the people at our table. You'll also want to get here early because this place fills up fast and the wait can get pretty long. The food was good, but it wasn't anything I'd scream and shout about. Be aware that they do not take reservations but they have a bar area and a deck in the nice weather where you can wait. The menu has a good amount of variety and everything was fresh and prepared just as we ordered. Our server Morgan was very friendly and took great care of us. The Oregon inlet tuna was excellent blackened and prepared perfectly medium. My wife had the Trawl Boat combo and everything was great but, everything was swimming in butter. The shrimp and scallops are locally sourced. A little less butter and the dish would have been better. The special blackberry bourbon bread pudding with vanilla ice cream was killer. So delicious. Always a good vibe on the sound. The wife loves having a coconut margarita while we watch folks wind surf and jet ski in the sound. The kids find that entertaining as well. The pizza and hush puppies were a hit for the kids. The ginger sesame tuna bowl was the show stealer. Holy moly. We drove a hour north to get their fish tacos, which absolutely "slapped"... but the daily special was this tuna bowl. It was outstanding. I'd go again tomorrow easily. Waited about 45 minutes in a weeknight for the outdoor seating- definitely worth the wait! The view is beautiful and they have a bar and scenic views while you wait. Wonderful views, good service, ok food. We went to this location after we tried the Dare Trail location, expecting it to be a step above. Other than the views of the bay, which are perfect, we enjoyed the other location better. The menu here seemed more limited, the hush puppies were an additional charge and they gave you fewer of them, and other than a nice beer selection it just didn't match the experience at the other Miller's for us. The food was good, one thing I'd like to mention is that I ordered the tuna steak and chef recommended medium rare, I'd have ordered it medium instead as the flavor wasn't for me. We liked our salads so much yesterday that after an incredibly windy beach hike we fed out appetites in the rooftop bar, which was sealed tightly against that crazy wind, but still offered a beautiful view of the kite surfers taking full advantage of the weather. The menu was similar to downstairs but more lunch appropriate, and still had specials and a lot of great choices. We had the tuna tacos and tuna in pesto in ciabatta with waffle fries (perfectly prepared, I might add-not greasy, overly salty or skimpy in portion-just perfect!). Wow! How could 2 meals in a row be so delicious? I'd eat here every day if I could! The service was quick and super friendly, down to the last person we spoke with. What a great vibe. Great location on the OBX for a sunset dinner. While we ate in the main restaurant, with so many great views, there is also a bar area with outside seating---when the weather is a bit nicer than it was for us, would have to be one of the best places to grab a cold beverage and enjoy a sunset. Tried their "world famous" hush puppies and they certainly were up there with some of the best we've had here. I was so excited to try Miller's Waterfront Restaurant after reading such positive reviews. As it turns out after many trip to OBX, this is one of the worst restaurants I've experienced. My wife and I brought family from Europe thinking that we would have delicious NC seafood. Instead we had food that was only ok in taste and portions that were laughable. When the server handed my wife a 1/4 glass of wine, I laughed out loud. My $32 dollar dish looked like an appetizer and was less filling. We were 4 pretty small adults who all left hungry after spending more than $125 for our meal. The food was not the only issue. The place feels more like a cafeteria. The service was also terrible. Our waiter had a pretty nasty attitude and either was having a bad day or just hated his job. My advice? Go for the view. Standing outside during sundown was spectacular. Then get in your car and eat somewhere else. read more

I think if I wasn't a single taking a Four top so that I could enjoy the breeze coming off of the Harbor and taking pictures I might have been treated better I was pretty much ignored after my food was delivered until I had one scallop left that being said the food was fantastic the scallop appetizer was amazing loved the accompanying sauce and seaweed salad. The onion rings are definitely homemade. And as a single I usually eat appetizers so that I can taste more of one thing unfortunately my beer sat at the bar for about 10 minutes before it was delivered to me so it was yucky but anyway just the way it is. Went to the other Millers because it said Dogs allowed- no they are not. This one on the waterfront does allow them on the back porch. We put our name on the wait list and walked around back. We were told we could get drinks out there but the outside bar wasn't open. My husband went in and got drinks- I got a mint coconut mock mojito- it wasn't good- tasted only like coconut mix - it dis have 2 mint leaves thrown on top (not even crushed) We were seated at the top of the ramp (traffic of people was busy and sunny) Our server was very nice and cheerful. Had lunch here Mother's Day 2025. She crab soup starter was good, and we got the fried flounder baskets. Fries were nice and crispy, cole slaw has just a hint of Old Bay which is great and the flounder was good - especially with malt vinegar. My girlfriend ordered a salad with fish and made sure to let our waitress know that she has a gluten allergy. Despite this, she was served a salad with a wheat wafer in it. When she expressed concern to our server, she told her to just "feed it to your husband." And that if she sent it back that they would probably just remove it and send the same salad back. So the kitchen and waitstaff have zero understanding of allergies and the implications of serving someone with an allergy, food that will cause an allergic reaction. This is why I am giving this place two stars. On top of that, the service was under par for the cost of dinner. All that said, the she crab soup was really good. Very thick with a decent amount of crab. I got the sunset flounder and it was pretty good. It wasn't good by itself, but with the crab hollandaise sauce on top and a little bit of lemon it was good. The mashed potatoes were delicious. My veggies were cold but good. Despite the gluten added to her gluten-free salad, my girlfriend enjoyed her Millers Signature Salad with seared Tuna on the side. We picked this restaurant for the view and for the fact t hey have gluten-free options called out on their menu as GF...but we were completely disappointed with the service and how her allergy was handled. Although the menu is more limited, the selections were varied enough that everyone found something they loved. The Tuna Nachos, Bang Bang Shrimp, Shrimp Tacos, and Tuna Pretzel Roll were all hits at our table. Watching the sunset from the bar was a highlight of the night -- absolutely beautiful. Over the last 10 years we have went to millers on our family vacations the past 2 years it has just been a disappointment. The service wasn't bad but the food is very bland. The menu for the most part stays the same and the seafood just doesn't have flavor. I think this will be the last time eating there on vacation for us. read more

We arrive around 5 on a Wednesday evening. The parking is tricky and possibly a fire hazard there's only one way in and you have to do a 360 if their designated parking area is full. But theres parking in neighboring venues. It was busy and our wait time was 30 minutes. Which was probably the likely scenario for all restaurants around this time. The wait wasn't too bad there's a scenic waiting area out back with a view of the inner bay. We took a lot of photos and viewed the menu. Thats how we learned that There was another restaurant upstairs; sunset bar and grill, it was smaller and was 45 mins wait but our table was ready. Time passed pretty quickly. There was a special menu besides the regular menu and we ordered with ease. Our waitress did not keep us waiting throughout the night she was attentive even for how busy it was. We ordered 3 apps, 3 entrees and a kid meal. We played Uno as we waited.. the artichoke spinach dip was good tasted like fresh artichokes, the calamari was perfect none was overly fried, the Brussels was sooo good! honestly everything was good. No complaints at all except the veggies but to be fair my family don't do veggies but I liked the medley of veggies and mash potatoes. I would come here again. read more

Down in OBX for a few days staying at our favorite spot, First Colony Inn, and headed out to Miller's Waterfront for dinner. Such a classic setting, overlooking the sound. A menu with many options and seafood choices. Tonight, we both decided on the Trawl Boat which had scallops, a crab cake and shrimp. All were delicious. This place makes amazing hush puppies too! We had a brownie with ice cream for dessert and it was a perfect ending to an excellent meal!! Our server was so nice, knowledgeable and attentive! We got there at 5pm and were seated pretty quick, but there was a long line when we were leaving. I do recommend eating early in the OBX during vacation season, or just plan to wait. This was the easiest 5 I have given out in a while. The atmosphere is a 10. There is both inside and outside seating. The feel is beach casual, but I feel like it is a little nicer than other beach spots. There is a long deck that you can walk out on with a drink if there is a wait. Wes was our server. He did a great job waiting on us and was friendly, efficient, and our order was put in and delivered to our table with perfection. I didn't even get to the food! Awesome! I had the sample tray. It had scallops, shrimp, and a crab cake. My son had crab legs. My daughter had calamari. Lastly, my wife had the She Crab Soup. Everything was awesome.
