This is one of our beach trip traditions, we always make time to eat here at least once! We've tried several things over the years, and it's always been good. This visit we had the blue crab taco, scallop taco, steamed oysters, snow crab legs, and the crab bisque. The bisque was SO good! And if you order the sweet potato fries...GET THEM! Love all the food here. Having had dungeoness, snow, and blue crab, they are all unique and delicious. Everything I've had before is still great like the fried shrimp and oysters, and especially the hush puppies. The blue crab nachos are something new I've had and are amazing. The chips are crisp and thick with plenty of cheese and crab. Something I will be getting again. The fried flounder fillet is cooked well but lacking seasoning, and really needs to have some sauce for it to not be too dry or flavorless. Great place that is a must do in OBX. read more

We weren't sure what to expect when pulling up to the place, but once we entered it was evident this place has a really great atmosphere and feel to it. Bar style seating throughout most of the place and a couple large tables but the mirror running length of bar gives it a unique touch to see everything that's going on. Although this place has Mostly bar type seating with a few tables, the place is comfortable. There is a row of bar stools facing the back wall, but in a cool twist, the restaurant has a mirror the runs the length of the entire wall that allows those sitting on these chairs to see everything that is going on, instead of looking blankly into a dead space. Service was friendly and helpful. I started with a cup of oyster stew. The broth was very good with a unique spice i could not put my finger on. The stew was also loaded with Oysters. I also had 2 tacos, the 1st one was fired founder and the other was fried scallops. Both had shredded cabbage and an outstanding mango salsa. While I like the scallops better, the fish was massive and cooked perfectly. The wife ordered soft shells after the server told us they were fresh which I thought was odd as they normally are not in season until March. Regardless she enjoyed them very much. The wife also had to try the Steamed potatoes. Steamed potatoes must be an OBX thing as outside a seafood boil we never really seen them served on their own yet but almost all restaurants seem to serve them. Again another part of her meal she enjoyed. Finally the wife had a side order of hush puppies which came with an amazing dipping sauce which seemed to be a cross between a browned butter sauce and candied apple. I tool a trip to the OBX and i was looking for some good seafood at first I was hesitant, there are many seafood restaurants around in the area but not all have a good food, however this place didn't disappointed me. I got a soft crab sandwich and was very delicious and good size, i had some steam potatoes and they were very well seasoned, my friend got some crab legs and fried crab with cheese broccoli, that was her first time trying both and she was very satisfied. It was her first night so when we asked about the cost, she asked the more experienced person who was there. So we all ordered sodas and tea and a crab nachos to start which would've been great but the cheese sauce was weird and kind of grainy clearly it came out of a can... My other friend ordered a pound of shrimp stained and broccoli with cheese. It was about 10 medium shrimp, which were not a pound. They were steamed and white and naked no season but that broccoli and steamed cheese that was really good. My other friend and I ordered the crab bisque. It was absolutely awful. It was extremely salty and had way too much Sherry in it, It was like the soup was already made, and when they warmed it up, they may have thrown in a little bit of extra Cheri, which didn't have time to cook into the bisque... my friend who wanted the hardshell crabs and ended up getting tacos and those were mediocre. So airy and crisp with crab in every bite. I ate so much that when the whole crabs arrived, I was already stuffed. But, stuffed or not I ate more of these tasty critters. We arrived at 4:30 on a Friday night (right before it started to pour) and almost the whole counter was available, so we were seated right away. I ordered the blue crab nachos (off the appetizer list) as my entree and they were wonderful!
