We weren't sure what to expect when pulling up to the place, but once we entered it was evident this place has a really great atmosphere and feel to it. Bar style seating throughout most of the place and a couple large tables but the mirror running length of bar gives it a unique touch to see everything that's going on. Although this place has Mostly bar type seating with a few tables, the place is comfortable. There is a row of bar stools facing the back wall, but in a cool twist, the restaurant has a mirror the runs the length of the entire wall that allows those sitting on these chairs to see everything that is going on, instead of looking blankly into a dead space. Service was friendly and helpful. I started with a cup of oyster stew. The broth was very good with a unique spice i could not put my finger on. The stew was also loaded with Oysters. I also had 2 tacos, the 1st one was fired founder and the other was fried scallops. Both had shredded cabbage and an outstanding mango salsa. While I like the scallops better, the fish was massive and cooked perfectly. The wife ordered soft shells after the server told us they were fresh which I thought was odd as they normally are not in season until March. Regardless she enjoyed them very much. The wife also had to try the Steamed potatoes. Steamed potatoes must be an OBX thing as outside a seafood boil we never really seen them served on their own yet but almost all restaurants seem to serve them. Best hush puppies I've had. Lots of great stuff like the Dungeness crab, but you have to get the hush puppies. Raw oysters were quite large and the cocktail sauce was great, very horseradishy. Fried shrimp were good, nice light breading and not oily. The catfish fillet sandwich was okay, the sauce was served on the side and there wasn't enough for the sandwich. The sandwich lacked in a cohesive flavor, mostly due to not enough salt. The Dungeness crab was spectacular. Crab was warm and delicious, complemented by the amazing clarified butter. The hush puppies were the highlight of the meal. Super crispy outside, almost to the point of burning it, with a soft dense inside. The sweet sauce that is served with it is to die for. I don't usually like sweet with my hush puppies but this sauce changed my mind. Love this place and will for sure be coming back for those hush puppies. read more

To be perfectly honest, we popped in late after a day of running around and sightseeing and going to lighthouses. We came in and we seated at the bar. Everyone was super friendly... Now here comes the buttttttttt..... One person in the group wanted to have blue crab, and immediately asked what were the prices for the blue crab they told us $80 for a dozen crabs 40 for six... Then we asked if they were number ones or number two the response was medium so to my assumption that would mean the number to $80 for medium Crabs for 12 is crazy .... our waitress who was very sweet and nice. It was her first night so when we asked about the cost, she asked the more experienced person who was there. So we all ordered sodas and tea and a crab nachos to start which would've been great but the cheese sauce was weird and kind of grainy clearly it came out of a can... My other friend ordered a pound of shrimp stained and broccoli with cheese. It was about 10 medium shrimp, which were not a pound. They were steamed and white and naked no season but that broccoli and steamed cheese that was really good. My other friend and I ordered the crab bisque. It was absolutely awful. It was extremely salty and had way too much Sherry in it, It was like the soup was already made, and when they warmed it up, they may have thrown in a little bit of extra Cheri, which didn't have time to cook into the bisque... my friend who wanted the hardshell crabs and ended up getting tacos and those were mediocre. We stopped in and placed an order to go so that we could bring it back to our extended family party and of course when we realized they had merch, that just doubled our order total. We started with a Pinot Grigio, then the wife had the soft crab plate with hush puppies (the portion was great we ended taking some hush puppies to the hotel). I had a total of four tacos = two orders; (what can I say I was hungry). I had one taco each; Crab Meat, Steamed Shrimp, Soft Crab and Flounder. Just an order of two would have been perfect as the portions were pretty good plus I had a side order of delicious potatoes. My husband and I recently visited I Got Your Crabs in Kitty Hawk, NC, and both opted for the fried shrimp platter. The shrimp itself was solid--nicely cooked and enjoyable. Lightly fried. He chose hush puppies as his side, which were a highlight--crisp, flavorful, and easily the best part of the meal. I went with the waffle fries, and unfortunately, they were a letdown. They lacked any real appeal. Skip the waffle fries. The sauces served alongside--tartar sauce, a brown sugar butter mix, and a spicy mayo--were underwhelming and not what we'd hoped for to complement the shrimp and hush puppies. We might give the place another shot and try the crab next time, as it's their namesake, but we weren't blown away on this visit. Seating-wise, the outdoor area is just two picnic tables in a parking lot, which wasn't ideal for us since we had our dog along. It felt cramped and uninviting. So we opted for take-out.
