Fried chicken dinner with fries instead of slaw
    Melissa B.

We ate here last week while on vacation for the 3rd time. We got there when it opened and even though we had a reservation there was no wait! --The cheesesteak egg rolls - 5 STARS! So good - the dipping sauce was great too! You have to order this app!! -Cornbread app - not as great as I remembered it being the last time, but still good. -Wings special - I think we had honey bbq - always good! -Fried Chicken - wasn't told there was an uncharge for fries instead of slaw but the entire meal was good! -Special Surf & Turf kabobs - 5 STARS on the taste - the chimchurri was so good but felt like it was a bit pricey ($38) for the amount of protein that came with it (4 shrimps and 3 pieces of steak) -Crabcake app - very good - nice flavor lots of crab -Filet - My daughter ordered this and again 5 STARTS! It was so delicious - the sauce and the potatoes and the cut of meat was great as well. I would order this again and again. We finished with the cheesesteak and the key lime pie - both delicious as well!! I really wanted to try the brownie sundae, but was taking mine to go and was so full after dinner - will def try that next time.

Crab cake special (far) and pork chop.

Wonderful experience! Our server, Clover, was awesome. She was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We had the Brussels sprouts for an appetizer (not pictured), and I could eat an entire plate on my own. For our main courses, we had the fresh catch (crab cakes) and the pork chop. Both were delicious! One of the best pork chops I've had--was cooked perfectly and the jam on top was delicious. Highly recommend!! I could eat here every day.

We had a great dinner here and would definitely return. Pros/Highlights: the cheesesteak eggrolls were amazing and very flavorful. I had the shrimp and grits which was the best shrimp and grits entree I've ever had. It had big chunks of bacon in it. My husband had the ribs which were huge and meaty but just a little overcooked. For dessert we had the warm brownie which was very moist and decadent. The drinks were just ok. For drinks we tried an Old Fashioned, the Orange Yum Yum (like a doctored up orange crush), the Pony 75 (their spin on a french 75), and an espresso martini. The espresso martini was pretty lackluster and had a muted flavor. The martinis were also on the small side. The drinks were the only part of meal that were just ok and that could use some improvement. All the food was wonderful though. We would definitely return and recommend this restaurant to friends and family.

We visited The Pony and The Boat on our date night while on our annual vacation to OBX. We were seated quickly and served immediately. We got the crab dip as an appetizer and I ordered the seafood pot pie and my significant other ordered the steak for our meals. All of it was delicious! I would definitely rate this in our top restaurants we have visited in the Outer Banks!

By far one of my favorite new restaurants I've discovered while going to the Outer Banks. Top notch food & flawless service. Our waitress was one of the best! I think one of the main dishes this place is known for is their chicken pot pie. I can definitely see why. It was one of the best I've had to date. Their cornbread is also like non-I've had before. Highly recommend ordering both. The pumpkin pie is also delicious. Five stars all the way.

It's a quaint place, we stopped for brunch on our way out of town. Very friendly host and server. Started with the blood orange mimosa and I had the shrimp and grits. Hubby had the three pig, he didn't love it according to him it was just a skillet of tater tots. I enjoyed the shrimp n grits, the sauce was good but could have used more or it. Had a side of bacon.

I ended up here on a whim because the first two places I tried were packed. Did a quick Yelp search and found this little gem with great reviews so figured I would give it a try. We had a part of 8 and were seated right away! The dining area to the left is very spacious and open with high ceilings. The manager (or maybe he's the owner) was super nice and the waitress we had was amazing! She was constantly refilling drinks without us having to ask, very knowledgeable of the menu and had an overall positive, friendly attitude. The menu selection isn't huge or overwhelming like some other places. I had the cheesecake egg rolls which were amazing! I really didn't expect them to taste that good so it was a pleasant surprise. I also had the garden salad which was very fresh. I will certainly be back!

Another wonderful diner at The Pony and the Boat. Seafood Pasta was creamy smooth. Crab Dip was a great start. Their desserts are all made in house. Thank you John for the great service.

    Pork cutlet skillet

Enjoyed a delicious brunch with family! Two of us ordered the pork skillet and the third has the steak skillet. The gravy on the pork skillet was amazing. Tip: ask for it on the side. The sauce on the steak skillet was also very good. Poached eggs are cooked perfectly and the potatoes are nice and crispy!

Cool upside canoe made into a light fixture!

The restaurant was running a bit lean with staff but our server was attentive and helpful. There's a lot on the menu to choose from -- we had the crab dip appetizer as well as the fish bites. There's a bar and lots of TVs. There's also a small area in the restaurant with a great t-shirt selection, stickers, and beanies. We have a list of OBX favorites we always come back to, and this one will go on the list.

Shipwreck's serves excellent shrimp that are large, fresh, plump, lightly battered, fried perfectly and salted just right. We again shared the order of calamari that is billed as an appetizer, but we split both plates, so it was part of our meal, and it all was plenty of food. They do a very good job on the fried food that we had and there is much more that tempted me. I don't think that the slaw was quite as good as what we had the previous time, but still a bug improvement over what it was a couple of years ago. Again, I don't know if this was a conscious change or if they are just very inconsistent. I'm pretty sure we will remain customers and I am increasing the rating because they do serve excellent seafood. The slaw cannot be the driver for the rating.

It's off season so getting table at lunch was easy. Staff seated us and took our order quickly. They were super friendly and gave us the "pointers" on food( no lettuce or tomatoe here). Draft beer and cocktails available. Food was super delicious and not overly gigantic. Our burgers were grilled perfectly with just a minimum amount of condiments(.50) for shrooms, grilled onions and mayo(yup, mayo costs money). The tots are a seasonal thing so I got that. Delicious as tots are usually a staple in my diet. Sodas are free refills and our server even gave me a to-go cup. I live a refreshing fountain soda. The indoor dining area has lots of beach themed decor. There is a full bar at the front. I think on the weekends and summer season they also have outdoor music.

Neither one was worth the money. Everything is expensive anymore when you eat out, I don't mind paying if the food is good. The soup had no signs of fish or seafood in either serving. It tasted like a spicy vegetable soup. It was good but no fish and not worth $9. The Quinoa bowl was average, tomatoes were spongy and tasteless and 3-4 pearl mozzarella balls. How is that $19? Very disappointing. I gave 1 star for our wine and our waitress Emily did an awesome job. She was prompt and took care of all the tables in the dining room. She did a fantastic job ensuring we had everything we needed. It wasn't her fault for the food. We are both locals and wanted a girl lunch, and appreciate the challenges restaurants face. Trio is always busy So not sure why today's food was so poor. I still bought wine at the store, again great shop.
