First off was drawn to this place by the name! We sought out this place due to beginning of blue crab season and daily fresh catches. We dined in and were quickly seated and served. The place has a lot of foot traffic from dine in to carry out and loved seeing that so many locals frequented. We tried the oyster Rockefeller, and it included plenty of fillings, I enjoyed their twist on this dish. I tried soft shell crab tacos, fried shrimp tacos and the hush puppies. Our waiter was great and provided recommendations for how to order soft shell crab since it was my first time trying! The hush puppies came with a sweet sauce, I'm sure if I asked for tartar sauce it would have been provided. Overall would recommend they did not have any blue crab during our visit but had other crab available on the menu, so would recommend calling in advance if you are in search of a specific item. read more

Delicious, but beware of the credit card fee, bring cash. Weak disclosure- they have a clear sign to not linger, but not about this 4% charge except on the final bill. Somehow, when I went to get cash, I became the problem it seemed by the owner's attitude. I guess few have ever questioned it? My husband and I recently visited I Got Your Crabs in Kitty Hawk, NC, and both opted for the fried shrimp platter. The shrimp itself was solid--nicely cooked and enjoyable. Lightly fried. He chose hush puppies as his side, which were a highlight--crisp, flavorful, and easily the best part of the meal. I went with the waffle fries, and unfortunately, they were a letdown. They lacked any real appeal. Skip the waffle fries. The sauces served alongside--tartar sauce, a brown sugar butter mix, and a spicy mayo--were underwhelming and not what we'd hoped for to complement the shrimp and hush puppies. We might give the place another shot and try the crab next time, as it's their namesake, but we weren't blown away on this visit. Seating-wise, the outdoor area is just two picnic tables in a parking lot, which wasn't ideal for us since we had our dog along. It felt cramped and uninviting. So we opted for take-out. Drinks refilled frequently--we got sweet tea (half unsweet) and it was delicious and refreshing. The place is clean, bustling. Mostly sit-at-the-counter service. I hesitate to write about how awesome this place is because it will make it that much harder to get a seat... but here goes: friendly, down to earth people in a fun atmosphere. Two long stainless steel bars and a couple booths, service is on heavy butcher paper. Get ready to get your hands dirty. One of the few places in the OBX that will shuck oysters in front of you, and slip you an extra if you're nice. The steamed or fried seafood is top-notch. The owner is a commercial fisherman, so you're eating local and fresh. These folks know how to run a fryer (and when to change the oil), and it shows. The seasonings are on point, the sides are simple and perfect. The Hush Puppies have a brown sugar dipping sauce that is just deadly. I could go on, but you get the idea. 5- 1/2 Stars. read more

Thankfully, the food proved me wrong with this being one of my more favorite meals during my short trip here. The seafood tasted fresh and clean, with the seasonings being a good compliment. Service was incredibly friendly with the right balance of checking up on you when you need stuff. We lived in Kill Devil Hills for 2 years and have been coming to this place since 2017. You will not be disappointed! The freshest seafood and they shuck your oysters right in front of you. This restaurant was very small & decorated in a nautical theme. Perfect beach establishment. We were seated right away, the waitress was also top notch. Went to "I Got Your Crabs" in the fall of 2023. Cozy little place that I may have passed over if not for the positive Yelp reviews so, gave it a try and was not disappointed. Might be the best steamed crabs I've had. Sourced locally, perfectly steamed, nicely seasoned. Service was friendly and adequately attentive. Also had local oysters on the half shell which were cold and fresh. Liked this place so much that we had lunch here twice during our three day stay at OBX. I love this place! The past three years I have gone to the OBX we come here. Their staff is friendly and they have great seafood. I've gotten their steamed shrimp and the fried oysters - both of which cooked perfectly. The batter on the oysters compliments the taste of them. They have amazing waffle fries too! The place is very clean and the health rating is displayed on the wall with a high score. If you are in the OBX area i definitely recommend I Got Your Crabs!! read more
