Why did I eat at this place two times in one day? It's because it was a amazing. So we stopped in for lunch and noticed that they had some excellent social distancing seating. So we grab two seats at the bar where there was lots of space between the diners. Staff had masks on other diners had mass when they walked in so we felt very comfortable. I ordered the blue crab nachos and hubby ordered the fried shrimp sandwich. I also ordered shrimp by the piece. They sell shrimp for $.75 each. The shrimp were huge. Hubby enjoyed his fried shrimp sandwich (giant fried shrimp) served on a bun along with fresh fried french fries. My blue crab nachos came with some sort of a cream sauce, some other condiments and they were all served on top of freshly fried wonton chips. It was a very creative way just serves blue crab. Service was amazing. The staff was very attentive. I picked up a to go menu for future orders. It time for takeout dinner and yes we did take out from this place. I got 2 pounds of steamed shrimp. We also ordered the fish tacos and more fried shrimp sandwiches. We were taking all this food to our friends house and everyone loved the food. For takeout food, it was fresh and hot. I called into order takeout and they were scheduling pickup orders for later in the evening. Luckily it was only about 5pm so they said they could make mine now for me to pick up. Whew because I was starving! I ordered the blue crab nachos and the snow crab legs. The crab legs were perfect! I'm used to Maryland style with a lot of Old Bay seasoning on them and I actually liked them this way better. I could taste the slight sweetness of the crab meat. And the butter didn't harden as it sat! That was awesome! I hate having to reheat the butter in the middle of my meal. The crab nachos were really good too. My only complaint was that reviews said the wonton style chips didn't get soggy quickly but a lot of mine were definitely soggy. It was only a 5 minute drive for me to pick up my food so I don't know how that happened so quickly. Visited this restaurant on a recent family vacation and we all loved it! The wait was about 45-50 minutes for our group of 8 on a Friday night, and we ended up all sitting at the bar. My husband and I ordered fried scallops, stuffed mushrooms, oysters rockefeller, steamed shrimp, and steamed crab. My personal favorite was the fried scallops! They were large with only a thin layer of batter, so it didn't overwhelm the scallop. My husband's favorite was the oysters rockefeller, which he absolutely loved. This was our first time here. The food, especially the blue crabs, was great and fresh. Unfortunately, that's where our enjoyment ended. There was basically no service. From the moment we came in the door, we were treated like a bother. We ordered our food ahead of time for a dine-in, but they apparently had mistakenly thought we were take-out customers, so they acted somewhat upset that they had to now find us a seat. The ~45 minutes we were there, no one checked in on us or even said "Hi". It was especially strange because the waitress literally went around the room every 5-10 minutes to check in on everyone else with lots of pleasantries. Mind you, we were right in front and next to the register, so I know it wasn't because of our seating location. The waitress seemed actively trying to avoid eye contact with us. We're still not sure what it was about or if we did something to offend her. For what it's worth, we are a same-sex couple of mixed race. But I really don't want to draw any conclusions here since we were offered no explanation. After 10 minutes, we had to flag someone down to order some drinks. Later, when my drink was empty, I had to flag someone down to refill it, they came out with water instead of Sierra Mist, so they went back in, and then never came out again until when we were ready for the check. When we asked for the check, they were very quick with that, but again, no word exchange. When we left, no one even noticed or said the typical things like "thanks for coming", etc. It was in stark contrast to every other customer in the restaurant before us. So, the food was good, but the treatment from the wait staff was incredibly disappointing, so I'm not sure if we'll want to support this business again. Perhaps we were the exception since they have lots of great reviews, and clearly the waitress was very kind to other customers. DON'T EAT HERE!! Absolutely horrible customer service. No warm and fuzzy feeling at all here. This place is a ripoff. Plus they charge you 3.99% on top of your bill, taxes and tip if you don't pay with cash. We've been coming to OBX almost yearly since 2017. When we tried this place in 2017 for crabs, they were pretty good. They've gone severely downhill since then. We did carry out to order crabs from here this time. The lady told us they were $50/dozen for medium or $90/dozen for large. We decided to order half a dozen large crabs. I paid and while I was waiting, I looked at my receipt and noticed I was as charged $54 for the crabs. I said to myself "that can't be right". I asked the employee who rang me up why I was charged $54 instead of $45. She proceeded to explain it was because I got 6 crabs instead of 12. I said huh? $90 divided by 2 is $45, right? She said no, they charge per crab if you only get 6 of them and it's $9 per crab. I said what? $90 divided by 12 is $7.50. She said no, we charge $9 per crab. She was extremely rude in the next statement: "maybe you should have gotten the medium crabs", "you should have asked before you ordered". How the heck was I supposed to know to ask about your jacked up crab prices?! Sorry but the math isn't mathing lady!! And for your information...I'm from MD where I usually pay $150 for a dozen crabs so don't tell me "maybe I should have gotten the mediums", implying that I can't afford them! Point blank period...they are rude here and seem to have further issues with folks of color. Also, we ordered the soft crabs. They were extremely overcooked and inedible. Although if you're into comics and want great customer service, definitely visit the comic book store down the strip from this store...Galactic Comics, I believe. Even the workers there agreed that this place is horrible and has the worst customer service and they're locals! read more

We stumbled upon this seafood restaurant on our way to the outer banks. The blue crabs were amazing. Sweet and soft. Even my 7 years old enjoy devouring on the meat of the crabs. Their crab chowder was also delicious! My hubby liked their crispy fried flounder too. Service was a little bit slow with more than 20 minutes waiting time on a Saturday. It was plenty of food. They gave us extra shrimp. It was very lightly breaded which is the way I like it. Very friendly staff. So we actually ate here 3 times during our stay. Second time we each had crab cake sandwiches they weren't lump meat but they were tasty. I had the sweet potatoes and asked for extra crispy (try it anywhere you have them, makes a big difference) and they were cooked perfectly. I was surprised with how small the location was and with just two booths. The rest of the settings were stools up to two counters. No dishes, but paper ware and inexpensive plastic flatware. Wow! We had raw oysters, boiled shrimp, and the clam strips. All were fresh. Really enjoyed the oysters and ended up getting two orders. Clam strips were also really good along with the sauce. I have to say though, the seasoning on the boiled shrimp was killer along with the cocktail sauce. I've raved about the cocktail sauce for days and even left that day with a bottle. It seems like every beach town has that one good hole in the wall seafood place that's a bit funky where you know you can go and have a great meal without any type of frills or BS. In KDH, enter this place, because it fits the bill on every front. We were staying up in Corolla and while there are several seafood spots closer, all of them either have mediocre reviews or crazy high prices (some of them have both) which made me expand my search until I ran across the menu at IGYC. We get there and everything is fairly busy. We took the only two seats at the counter and within thirty seconds our server had a large piece of butcher paper down in front of us and was asking about drinks or if we knew what we wanted. Seeing as we had never been before we had a brief Q&A about two or three things and then we were ready. Soft Crab Plate-Scallops-Crab Bisque-Crab Dip w/Chips It might sound too good to be true but it's hard to pick anything apart with the food because, damn, it was all perfect and exactly what we were looking for. The crabs on the crab plate were expertly fried just the way the menu mentions that they'll be, the scallops had so much flavor and the soup/crab app were amazing. I suppose for the sake of "keeping them honest", if I have to say one bad thing about the food it would be that the soup was served at a scalding hot temperature but honestly, so what, because it tasted great. Prices are a little on the high side for me but keep in mind that you are at the beach in a tourist area plus it is seafood and a good bit of it is fresh/local. One note would be that this place is on the small side and it does seem to get busy daily (we drove by here almost every day for a week and the side of the strip mall that they're on was always full of cars). If you're doing a take out order call ahead, as in way ahead. I also noticed the night we were there that there were only two people trying to take orders/refill drinks/man the register/answer the phone/etc. In other words they were beyond busy and getting pulled ten different ways. But even with that, unless you are one really pretentious SOB, I can't imagine how this place is anything less than five stars. read more

I rarely leave bad reviews but in this case, I think I will as a warning to others. I thoroughly and carefully read their website to determine what their policies were. It seemed to me that overall, they suggest 24 hour notice for carryout orders. Fine, I get it. We were interested in two dozen live crabs (no cooking by them required). We decided to visit in person the day before we wanted them to place them on reserve, even willing to pay ahead of time. There was a bushel basket of live crabs in the front showcase and they looked pretty good. The young woman running the front counter said since we did not need anything cooked, we could just come back the next time and get what we wanted. Ok, fine. My friend called the next afternoon and was told we could not reserve them over the phone, we had to come in person. Fine, we hit the road. Upon arrival, we were happy to see TWO bushel baskets of crabs in the front showcase. I excitedly announced my order to the young woman (a different one) behind the front counter. She went over and conferred with another older female and came back and said she couldn't sell us any because they were all spoken for. WHAT????? I calmly explained what we had been told previously. Again, she apologized that they were all already claimed. I guess my main problem is the clarity of their policies and procedures. If they won't take reservations IN PERSON or over the phone, how does one actually get to buy any crabs???? P.S. We eventually found our two dozen live crabs at another locations nearby. On the 4th of July after being told that I Got Your Crabs had a 1 hour wait we decided to stick it out and lo and behold they found seating for us within half and hour, on bar stools along the wall. The place is fairly small and almost all seating is along the bar or along the wall on bar stools; they only have 2 tables. After seeing my 82 year old mom with a cane they graciously offered to quickly clean one of the two tables and let us sit there. Kudos for their kindness! We ordered Calamari, which was pretty good, and crab dip with pitas, which was just ok. Unusual flavor for crab dip, just my opinion. For dinner I did the create your own thing, ordering fried soft shell crabs, flounder and crab cake. The flounder was cooked and seasoned well and the crab cake was pretty good but not as 'crab forward' as most crab cakes I've had, and I grew up eating crab cakes. I LOVE soft shell crabs but these had virtually no breading on them and came out greasy, not well fried like most soft shells I get. They were ok but didn't meet my expectations. The rest of the table got fried oysters - very good - broiled scallops - pretty good - and crab cakes which they all said were good. The crab cakes had a very firm breading and texture on the outside, unusual, while the inside is the normal crab cake texture. They were busy but the service overall was very good, especially since all restaurants are struggling to have enough staff to serve everyone. My mom really enjoyed her seafood and complimented the chef, helping make it a positive experience for our group of 4 on a busy holiday night. Well done IGYC! read more
