I simply cannot believe it has been nine years since we lunched at Two Roads. Since that time they moved to their new location in the former Longboards. I talked Ms T into trying it again. We just can't handle a big lunch and wanted to avoid leftovers, so decided to split a pickle brined chicken sandwich with fries and an extra side of slaw. The sandwich was OK. To start with it needed more seasoning. How about breaking out the black pepper and garlic powder? The meat was uncharacteristically tough/chewy for chicken breast. I suggest they need to be pounding it to tenderize it and then brine it. It was actually hard for us to cut and eat. It really looked nice, but I think I am done with pickle brined chicken. It just never gets enough brine impact. They make good small caliber fries that were piping hot and the slaw was fine for me. Ms T did not care for it so I got it all. Our food was OK, not stellar. The service was excellent, but I still can't make this better than three stars. I hope to convince her to return for a burger during this trip. read more

My go to meal is their famous Chicken Brine Sandwiches the chicken breast is very large and the sauce is quite spicy. This is by far the best breaded shrimp I have ever eaten and that says a lot because I'm from Hawai'i. Our server was so lovely, the crab cake was good and that's the only good part of the meal. The fried oysters were so mushy, that I almost gagged. Our first time trying here while we were in OBX. The food was really good especially the mashed potatoes and fried shrimp. The batter was light and seasoned well. Everything was great. We returned again the next day with some friends and sat in the dining area. Service was good even though the second day was busier. After hearing good things about two roads and their new location, we've been looking to try it out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The new space is pretty large so we were able to walk in and sit down right away. The tables are spaced apart so it didn't feel crowded and felt like it could even accommodate more people.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server Patrick was friendly and attentive. The cocktail menu included several crushes which are a good beach drink. The food is a bit limited (looks like maybe before they moved they had a larger menu). I had the pickle brined chicken sandwich which was a huge portion but it had just a touch too much sauce for me. It was almost impossible to pickup given the sauce, so I'll ask for it on the side next. If you decide to substitute anything in place of fries, it appears as if you have to pay for that side outright (sub charges are the same for ordering as a side). So maybe get the fries and then order the side is best bang for your buck. Others at my table has the special burger and the shrimp po'boy. We enjoyed it all. The green beans are sautéed and tasty and the onion rings and fries were good. We split the turkey sandwich with stuffing, goat cheese, cranberry sauce, and arugula. It was served on grilled sourdough and it was amazing, I wanted to go back and eat it again, but didn't have time. It is syrup with warm homemade chips. They have a fun holiday drink menu as well. This is a new spot we have tried four times. Each time the food has been hot, fresh and tasty. Our servers have been friendly and a pleasure to speak with. They provide excellent recommendations to consider. One time, the flounder was just brought in from local fisherman, and it was brought to our attention to give it a try. The waitress was right; the sandwich was AWESOME and cooked/seasoned perfectly and a brioche bun. My husband and I came here and were unfortunately disappointed with our experience. We were seated in the bar area, and it was obvious the bartender and barback were extremely busy. They seemed to be doing their best. Throughout the meal, we had empty drinks sitting on the table for long periods of time. What was especially frustrating was that the host was sitting nearby on her phone while our drinks sat empty & it wasn't until about 5-10 minutes later that we got refills. don't blame the bartender or barback, as they appeared overwhelmed and were trying to handle too many responsibilities at once. The bigger issue seemed to be staffing and a lack of attention from other employees who could have helped. It was especially disappointing since we were celebrating and were hoping for a nice dinner experience. Food was excellent. We got a variety of appetizers to try (Buffalo Shrimp, fried pickles, tuna bites, roasted oysters, and chicken bites). The fried pickles dipped into the bufflow sauce are amazing. For the main course, we had the fried seafood platter (comes with mahi mahi, fried oysters and shrimp, and I got the sweet potato fries). We also had the mahi mahi dinner and shrimp poboy sando. Stopped in for a bite while waiting for our car to be serviced nearby. The great reviews on Yelp brought us here and the service and food made us stay! I ordered the hangover burger which came with fries. It was good. I liked the bacon jam but it became a little overwhelming after a few bites. We were down here for vacation and considering what's closed in the off-season, this was close and well... open. Although considering the options were few, they did quite well with the food and service. Walking in, it's a great feel with the servers and staff being very friendly.
