Man! Every time I come here, the food is banging and the staff is cool as ice and the drinks they serve. I love that they sell local beer from the lost colony. Be prepared to get covered in seasoning if you order the steamed shrimp- my favorite is with heavy seasoning. The scallop tacos and clam strip tacos are also delicious with their mango on top. The food: had tacos (1, fried flounder, 1 crab meat). Both good. Think I liked the flounder a little better. Tons of cabbage, mango and little red pepper in there as toppings. Hard to keep it all on the taco. Other orders: a) shrimp sandwich: awesome! Best seafood sandwich have had in a long time. b) fried clam: shucked in front of you, sent to kitchen to fry. Awesome clean and crisp taste. c) steamed shrimp: very fresh and nice flavor. Found best to remove shells by hand then eat. Shell a little too salty/ strong from the seasoning to put in mouth directly. Was so good ordered a second batch. d) big order of crab legs, 3lb. Awesomely fresh clean tasting. Got 3 different dog sauces. Preferred the butter. I'm not a crab fan, one person in our group is a professional crab killer (meaning they LUV crab), and they went thru that crab with gusto and enjoyment. Check the photos for the aftermath. This place isn't that bad. The crab nachos are decent but small portioned, and the crab prices are ok especially compared to most places in the 757. But in this day, they charged us for large crabs and gave us medium, and we've been here multiple times to know. Just wow! The place is small and looks more like a dinner but who cares when they know what they are doing. Hush puppies were the best I've ever had, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Husband had oysters and loved that he could get them steamed. He had shrimp and crab legs and said the cocktail sauce was so good he wished he could take it home. This is just a shotgun restaurant , with 2 booths and a long counter. However, the seafood was really great for crab appetizers, crab bisque, and blue crabs. I don't recommend the calamari, too dry and salty. The counter service is ok, although the waitress scooted us together with others to leave open seats, but no one came in while we were there, and I found it annoying. The prices are fair. When ordering the blue crab, they give you a stick to beat the shells with, and a bucket to throw them in. Its a must try. read more

Well, I have eaten here for years and figured it was now time for me to write a review. We typically go once every two weeks or so we live nearby this place never disappoints. It doesn't matter what you get on the menu. It's awesome. Probably my favorite is the oysters Rockefeller. It's done like nowhere else I've ever had. Typically, I sit down at the raw bar with my paper in front of me and ask our server to bring us a pound of this a pound of that a pound of shrimp, muscles, crab, legs, crabs. it doesn't matter what you get. My wife cannot go in there without getting their famous softshell crab taco top with their homemade diced mango salsa. This place is awesome. The atmosphere is light nice everyone that works. There is super helpful. They come right to your table and crack oysters for you and on a few nights of the week oysters are half price. That's pretty awesome. This place would get 10 stars if it were available so glad to have them in Kitty Hawk. read more

I came back to this place with my husband after eating there with my friend several years ago. I raved to my husband about how good their crab bisque was. I think we dined there a few times while we were in OBX this time around. The Crab Bisque did not disappoint again with its lump crab meat and delicious seasonings. The seafood, specifically the steamed King Crab Legs were fresh and tasty. We even took some crab bisque home on the day of our return. Our least favorite food items were their hush puppies and soft shell crab. My husband is from Tennessee and he said he had better Hush Puppies. Also, we both thought the soft shell crab has a mushy, soggy texture. Maybe their other customers have had better experiences than we did with these two items... We overheard the server recommending their seafood tacos to another couple as a popular choice at Their restaurant. Unfortunately, we didn't venture into that but maybe next time. Finally, the servers were attentive, efficient, and nice to us. The employees and customers wore masks and the customers sat semi socially-distanced during the busy meal times. Was recommended this spot by someone local (we were visiting obx for vacation). Went here early July and they had indoor seating available along with outdoor picnic tables. We opted for outdoor even though it was scorchingggg hot. Each table had an umbrella so that helped. Our waitress was very nice and helpful in answering our questions. Both waitresses I saw were wearing masks. Cleaned down our table when we sat down. My first time with crabs was here. I came here with my BF who basically grew up eating crabs and visiting this place whenever he vacationed at OBX. After I had it the first time last fall, I basically begged him to take me back here! Both times, we got a dozen medium crabs and steamed shrimp. This time, we also asked for some fresh raw oysters. The oysters were delicious, and way more fresh than I've had them before. The shrimp is always cooked perfectly. I've never had a rubbery or hard one. The crabs are delicious. They provide you with sauces to eat the crab with (butter, vinegar, cocktail sauce even), but I always go with the butter... Or sometimes just plain bc it tastes great on its own. I personally like the old fashioned decor where you sit at a stool at the bar, and get your hands dirty and cracking! They do have like four booths if you prefer. They're also very popular, and it's hard to guess how long the wait will be... But I've never waited longer than 10 minutes even with a couple groups ahead of me. Only adjustment I would make to the tacos is to chop the mango smaller so that it's actually a salsa instead of bite size pieces. Clam strips were fantastic as were the sweet potato fries. Probably some of the best clam strips I've ever had. Blue crab was great. Hush puppies were the best flavor of any hush puppies I've ever had anywhere. Getting 4 stars instead of 5 because, hush puppies were a little under cooked, but amazing flavor, mango salsa wasn't really a salsa, just really large chunks of mango, and I had to ask for more Texas Pete because we were only given 2 packs for all the food we had on the table. They are very good at what they do, which is pretty much seafood. We were there during one of the happy hours (with 15m to go), so my wife got a reduced price for her oysters and I paid full price for my fried shrimp, which were perfectly cooked. This is a dive that you need to stop at. My family and I tried different things on the menu since everything sounded so good. We narrowed down to the tacos (blue crab, soft shell crab & fried oysters), soft shell crab platter and steamed shrimp - with old bay seasoning. They were delicious, especially the soft shell crab which was perfectly fried and crabby. Think it was the best we ever had.
