Blackened chicken.

A mainstay in the OBX, we always stop in 1x each trip here. While we usually frequent the DD in Avon, we were staying in kitty hawk so we tried the one here in kitty hawk/nags head. Wife loves the shrimp and grits and says the grits are better than most higher priced restaurants in the area....didnt disappoint. I had the blackened chicken with tricolor pasta....too much to eat!

Good, but not excellent quality food. Affordable prices. Good service. Local ambiance. Good price for crab legs. They tasted someone fresh. Hush puppies tasted good. Cheeky language here. Father in law had the steak. Mother in law had the clams. Son had the chicken Alfredo, but he didn't like that too muchz

Shout out to our wonderful waitress Sabrina! She was absolutely amazing! This spot was perfect for our group of 13 adults and 1 kid. Sabrina was attentive and got all our orders right prefect! Our table shared some apps. The oysters were great. My father in law loved the baked oysters. And the coconut shrimp and calamari and gator was fantastic! My main was okay. I should have gotten a smaller fish. The shrimp and grits was a little too much flavor for me. It said creole but it was giving me salsa vibes I would suggest something simpler for a main. My husband liked his crab melt

Really good place while visiting. We had a late dinner - around 7:15 - and were seated right away when we arrived. It was still pretty busy and most tables were full. Our waitress, Nina, was awesome. She was really hustling to serve all her tables and was very patient and kind as we were new to the place and asked a lot of questions. The market prices were clear and Nina did a great job explaining to us what she'd prefer. The food was really good. Great, kid friendly place with a lot of families with young ones in attendance.

Fried alligator is excellent I Jewish the batter was lighter so that she could taste more of the alligator the serving size is unreal enough for two. The fried green tomatoes with crab outstanding however the crab and the salad underneath is cold so it kind of cools off the fried green tomatoes immediately flavor unreal. So as I was sitting here I want the general manager and the chef cook come out and show a father and son how to open crabs which was pretty awesome excellent customer service on that end. Little expensive definitely a tourist location for a local once in a blue moon but definitely will be back to try some other things in the future

Ordered 1/2 dozen steamed large blue crabs and 2 ears of corn to go. The corn was 10 out of 10, but the crabs were definitely not all large. They did me dirty. Only 2 were large, 3 medium, and 2 small. (They gave me an extra crab). They tasted fresh and service was quick, but I'm not so sure I would go back.

Dirty Dick's was AMAZING! Their she crab soup is some of the best I've ever had. Their deal for a pound of crab for 16.99 is awesome (my wife and I killed that). Their drinks are delicious & service is amazing. We had Owen who was so funny and I loved his crab hat. During our vacation we came here twice!! I'd go back to OBX specifically for Dirty Dick's.

Fantastic seafood, great friendly service. Fun and comfortable atmosphere. Had to go back for more!

Bloody Mary, that shrimp was spicy!

We arrived before the evening rush, and were seated quickly. The restaurant was clean, and the restaurant didn't get too loud even as the crowds came in before we left. Our hostess was super friendly, and walked us through the catch of the day. I ordered the broiled seafood platter, wife ordered the stuffed flounder, and son ordered the steamed crab legs. Our waitress took the time to show him how to crack and open the legs. The food was great, we also started with the crab dip, which we all loved. The complimentary hush puppies were great also. The gift shop sells tons of DD swag, and our fourteen year old son is still laughing at his DD cup. It can be a little pricey, but that's expected in the OBX area.

Happy to be back at Dirty Dicks again- the service was just as quick as last year. This place was clean, and everything for market price was clearly posted. The food was delicious as always and our waitress was very kind and helpful.

Fried Calamari / Red Gravy

Good was so fresh and delicious!! Definitely going back next visit. We had the crab melt, combo platter (fried shrimp and scallops), and calamari.

I had the blackened mahi-mahi BLT sandwich which was perfectly cooked and served with over a pound of french fries. Not going to lie; the fries were fantastic. Nicely seasoned and not greasy. I ended up eating the mahi open-faced to avoid spilling on myself but the fish, tomato slice and lettuce were all delicious. It also came with a crisp pickle spear. My wife got the ceasar salad and added a skewer of blackened shrimp. The shrimp were tasty but could have stood a little more spice. They have a nice wine selection including a good selection available by the glass. Also a nice beer selection with some local/NC beers on tap. I observed all of the staff being very friendly and helpful to patrons throughout the restaurant. I will definitely be back and looking forward to trying it for dinner.

We took advantage of a nook outside of the market area, which was nicely shaded with tables and chairs. There was also a lot of comfy seating inside with a couple of nooks furnished with chairs and couches for families to sit in. Past the cafe is a market area with merchandise and wine. I guess the Rockfish tacos were a daily special, so I ordered the "World Famous" Mahi tacos while Ms T ordered a crabcake sandwich. I think we were both a little disappointed. Her sandwich was definitely for bun lovers. She tore off enough bread for another sandwich and still had plenty. Restaurants are often guilty of conflating a huge bun with good sandwich. She was not particularly impressed with the crab cake, saying it was overloaded with thyme. I ordered my Mahi "blackened" and it really was not. The seasonings were good although also heavy with thyme. The flour tortillas were of poor quality, very thin and leathery and not provided hot. Hence the tacos were room temperature when eaten. I liked the finely shredded cheese that was not served refrigerator cold. The white sauce they serve is just wrong for these tacos. It is too sweet, too tart, making it harsh. Instead, I used the sauce that came with her crab cake and that was much better. Finally the mahi was very dry. I guess that is kind of the way that mahi is, but this really needed plenty of sauce. Kudos to them for serving good jasmine rice. This was not as good as we remembered. It is OK, not great and could be improved with just a few changes. We should have tried the burgers.
