Do not recommend, go anywhere else. If you want a better option buy some gourmet dog food from Outer Barks. My stomach hurt after i consumed that intolerable food. Server was nice but still do not recommend. (Side Notes) "Blew up my toilet after eating this toxic waste of a meal" read more

Service was ok, the staff was friendly and most importantly, the food was good. My fish and chips were not beer bartered is the only negative I have to add. read more

Just a fun place to be. Good location and food is good. If you are down here on a trip it is a must go. Staple for this part of NC.

I ordered the shrimp po-boy. They delivered. A great sandwich nonetheless, though it could've had some sauce with it... not gonna cap. Other than that it was a great meal, will definitely be coming back read more

My wife and I recently visited this location on our vacation trip to OBX. We came expecting a little bit of a wait time based on the number of cars in the parking lot - however we were seated really quickly. The menu is fair sized with a number of good traditional seafood and American food options to choose from. My wife ordered the steak of the day, while I ordered the clam strip platter. The food was mildly seasoned and edible; however, the food was not very warm upon coming to our table. Overall, the service was excellent, food subpar, and atmosphere was as expected for a touristy crowd. Price to ratio of food is comparable, but not up to taste standards. read more

Great Service Good Food. Extremely pleasant Manager. Party of 7 had a wonderful experience. read more

We came here for early dinner as a party of 7. They add a 3% service fee as well as 18% gratuity. Ordered 4 drinks, 3 hurricanes and 1 pina colada. They were all okay. I did not finish my colada. Dinners we ordered shrimp salad, stuffed flounder, a steamed platter, and Mac and cheese. Also 2 kids meals. The shrimp salad was okay, same with the Mac and cheese. The stuffed flounder (which has a crab cake and shrimp on top!) was delicious. Same with the platter. Kids didn't care for the meatballs or the chicken nuggets. Our server was great! Super friendly and attentive. Glad we got there when we did, as it quickly started to fill up! All in all, I don't think what we paid was worth the food we all received, but glad that we got to experience it! read more

Did not enjoy our visit. I ordered the chicken. It was supposed to have a lemon cream sauce, it was a tomato based sauce w very little flavor. My husband did the all you can eat fried plate. It was like pulling teeth to get refills on the fried food. Additionally, our drinks sat empty more often than not. Do not recommend. read more

We were in the mood for some seafood! We started off with their mussels! My children 6 and 9 loved them!!! Very fresh, they had something in all price ranges and variety of fish. It wasn't the cleanest, not fancy but I liked the atmosphere and our server was very nice! I'm giving 5 stars because the food was excellent! read more

Husband and I ate at Dirty Dicks for Thanksgiving yesterday. I was very impressed. They had a very large buffet with turkey, ham, pork loin and beef plus all the traditional fixing. The second buffet had all the seafood you could want. It was fantastic! I was very impressed how organized everything was. The servers were helping all the tables and kept us well stocked on drinks. The manager had the reservations staggered well so you did not have to wait in line at the buffet. The food was excellent! We are new to the area and had never eaten at this restaurant but we will be back! Excellent food and prices! Great job! read more

Food was yummy, but the service was disappointing. I was a sever for 5 years and never treated people the way my family was treated last night. To start, "Rob" forgot to take drink orders from part of the party, we flagged another server down, then rob had an attitude and continued to the rest of the night... missed someone's food order, got someone else's order wrong, slammed beer on the table while mumbling things, never checked to see if we needed anything else. Had to flag down other servers literally the whole night and eventually the manager (who did nothing to make it right, even tried to charge us for catch of the day when my mom orders TACOS - $25 cheaper than the wrong thing ordered. The plate of catch never even touched our table because we refused it. She wanted tacos!). Rob even told us he couldn't sing happy birthday to our meme, which is why we went here, because "it was the end of the night and he couldn't make it happen"... yet the table next to us just had it sang to a member a minute before we asked! Horrible service, horrible management. Sad we had a mandatory service fee of 18% because there were servers there who actually did their job, and rob's job too :/ my memes said it was the worst service she's ever had, and it was her 66th birthday dinner. read more

A friend purchased 3 dozen blue crabs yesterday plus sides of hush puppies, rice and beans, and baked potato casserole plus snow crab legs and a fish sandwich. A lot of food for seven. Everything was OKAY but the blue crabs were disappointing. We eat blue crabs a lot but these were mushy. Very mushy, almost like mashed potatoes. Not the best crabs by a long shot. Sad face, because we love crabs. read more

Our previous visit to Dick's was some time ago, and our first impressions then were nothing to write home about. Or to Yelp about, either. But how things have changed! The noise level is better, the menu also includes a Soup & Salad buffet that's really great for lunch, and a terrific wait staff. Items are seasoned with a flavorful blend if herbs & spices, and none of what we had was overseasoned. My Gator Bisque was delicious! Service was excellent, and we thank Richard for his hard work - all with a smile. Great service truly makes a good meal a memorable experience! If you're in the OBX area, make this a definite stop! read more

Great crab legs! The service was alright. Our waiter was cute and very attentive. But it took him a while to warm up to us and start smiling, William I believe. Had a wonderful dinner here last night. Oysters were awesome and calamari to start, both very tasty. We both got Soft Shell Crab platters and they were delicious. The atmosphere is fun and the wait staff were very helpful going over the menu. More food then we could eat. Each platter had three large soft shell crabs fried to perfection. Had an amazing meal at Dirty Dicks. Well worth the hour wait. Our waitress RACHEL was very polite and friendly. Service was great and the food was delish. Our meal started off with yummy hush puppies. Had the fried pickles, calamari and onion rings all were very good. She crab soup was also a winner. Delicious fried shrimp and clam strips light batter and great taste. Crab cake sandwich was very good as well. Steamed crabs stole the show with their presentation and taste. Too full to order dessert but did take home the award winning bread pudding. Be sure to make Dirty Dicks in Nags Head one of your stops. read more

We went because of the interesting billboards as you come in. There were a lot of seafood options, but I thought the prices are pretty high in comparison to other area restaurants. Drinks served in the souvenir cups are tiny and expensive for what you get. The food wasn't bad. We all really liked the hush puppies though. Have had some pretty blah hush puppies in the past, but these were really good. read more

First time we tried this restaurant and will not go back. Because of covid, I realize seafood prices are high but other restaurants around were not this high. Service was good but fish sandwich was way over breaded. I ordered mahi, again over priced and just ok. Sides were not good either. Hushpuppies were good though. read more

I came here with a party of 9 in the summer season. The staff was superb and the food was tremendous. I have a unique food allergy and the staff took it very seriously and made sure my food was prepared to keep me reaction-free. I look forward to my next trip at Dirty Dicks in Nags Head! read more

The shrimp and grits is beyond amazing, I highly recommend it. Best I've ever had in my life. RL is the best server ever!

First, it took a while for a server to come to our table. When we gave her our order, she didn't write it down, but then she grabbed a napkin, and wrote a couple things down. First they bring complementary hush puppies, she basically threw them on the table and didn't even tell us what they were. Then the food was brought out by the table runner and it was entirely wrong. The server came out and told us that she had made a mistake and that they would remake the order. Then another table runner came out and tried to give us the wrong food again. When we finally got our food, it was decent, but not great. Also, there was a group of very loud obnoxious drunk people right next to us, and they should have been told to change their behavior because it was very distracting for the restaurant eaters. But nothing was done about that either. read more

I wasn't quite sure what to expect after reading all the reviews, they were quite mixed, so I figured I'd have to find out for myself. The first thing my wife said when we walked in was that it looked an awful lot like Joe's Crab Shack, so I'm not sure if Joe and Dick are long lost brothers or what. We got seated right away, and our waiter was Richard (yeah, right, it was probably Dick, but he didn't want to talk about it), and the first thing he said was, "welcome to Dick's, whatta' you want?" He told us it's part of the fun to be rude, and it was pretty funny. There were quite a few things that looked good on the menu, and we decided on the seafood Alfredeaux and the gator bites appetizer (yep, real gator, not chicken nuggets) to split between us. Good thing we split them, there was more than enough food for the two of us, and they were both very good. There was plenty of shrimp and crab in the Alfredeaux and the gator bites were actually very tender, and not too fried (I hate over-fried foods). To top it off, Dick, I mean Richard, brought us two samples of their white chocolate whiskey bread pudding, and dang was that good! So overall, it was a very good meal with plenty of leftovers. The only caveat is that the specialty drinks can be a bit pricey, and in this day and age of so many craft beers out there, the draft selection could have been greater. read more

We had a lot of family from out of town this past weekend and so we made reservations for 32 for 6:15 on a Thursday. I was VERY impressed with Dirty Dick's! They were able to seat ALL of us together. Our servers were very attentive, very friendly, and had all our orders correct. The in-house gift shop was great! It's actually pretty genius..while you wait for your food, go shop and purchase items with their funny slogans such as "I got my crabs from Dick's, or Dirty Dick's gave me crabs." Of course, all of them got t-shirts. Okay...as for the food...their she crab soup is amazing! It's absolutely delicious. I could have eaten a bowl. Hubby had their New England Clam Chowder, which was delivered in a bread bowl. It was perfeclty seasoned and filling. I chose the Louisiana Shrimp Scampi. This pasta was very plentiful and came with 2 toasted bread slices. The large sized shrimp were perfectly cooked and seasoned and the cheese tortellini were smothered in a cajun cream sauce. WONDERFUL! Hubby had the fried puppy drum platter with sweet potato fries and coleslaw. Our little one had the kids spaghetti and he loved it! They even serve the kid's menu items on a Frisbee for them to keep. We tasted several items on the appetizer menu such as the Louisiana Crab dip and the fried pickles. These were delicious as well. Everyone there went above and beyond to service us. Food was wonderful. Service was great. We will definitely be coming back next time when we're in the OBX! read more

Wow! I am sorry it took me so long to check out this restaurant, because I have been missing out. I went during the holidays so I cannot comment on the summer wait time. If you are here during the Holidays and want to take home a prepared meal, this is where the locals go. Turkey roll was sumptuous. Also if you are looking for a fresh salad bar, with lots of choices at a good price, this is your place and the only salad bar I know of on the beach. Overpriced mediocre seafood. We decided to sit at the bar since we thought the service would be faster, however it took over 15 mins for the bartender to acknowledge us. My meal was cold, but l had already waited long enough and didn't want to wait any longer to get them to warm it up for me. I ordered the fried shrimp and scallops. The batter had no flavor My husband ordered fried fish and fries. The fries were super soggy. How can someone mess up fries? We paid $25 for each meal. Maybe it was a bad day for them, but definitely regret spending money for food we did not enjoy. read more

Fried Gator TailStuffed FlounderThe Trinity Platter Service was great! The manager met us by the door and almost didn't leave our table the whole time we were there! Very friendly! Some of our party had questions about the food. (Ingredients and such). He was happy to answer any questions we had. We had kids with us who aren't big seafood eaters. The non-seafood options were spot on for my kids. One adult in our party is not a seafood eater and they were more than accommodating to make his experience enjoyable as well. All the food was delicious. I had a cocktail called the devil killer. It was fabulous! For the price I wish it was a little bigger but I got to keep the cup so it was ok! Definitely will be going back! read more

We had read good reviews of this place. It was ranked as the 2nd best place here on Nags Head in one poll. It might be the worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant. The service was terrible. The food was worse. And I was out 76 dollars (for two). The waiter forgot my drink. Then he forgot to even enter my order (I also overheard he did the same thing to the table behind us). My wife's scallops were mushy. My pasta was bland and the shrimp were not fresh. read more

OMG I ate alligator!!!! When in Rome they say... well Dirty Dicks is the same concept since there are not very many locations. Stopped in there last year while in Duck, NC for vacation. I had the fish tacos but wasn't all too thrilled with them... they came in a very thin homemade tortilla shell that almost instantly fell apart from the wet of the slaw and salsa. The fries were good but when I tried the alligator I was so completely thrilled from the idea I was eating alligator as well as the taste- it was awesome. There was also this amazing pasta with this oh my gosh AMAZING what I think they call Cajun Alfredeaux.... holy cow; so crazy good! The drinks the bartender hooked up were OFF THE CHART!!! and you get to keep the cups. Everyone was pretty satisfied for the most part in my party. But I had a blast and am actually really upset you can only get this in NC. Can't wait to go back; we love the OBX so we'll be heading back soon and I can't wait! read more

Food was great. Had the shrimp and bacon Mac and cheese. Service was a touch on the slow side, but they were rather busy and we had a large party so I still think they were doing the best they could. The only reason I took away a star was because I didn't understand the idea of a restaurant charging a 3% service charge for eating there. Everything is already ridiculously expensive. Just doesn't make sense to charge people coming into a service establishment to eat there. For two people only getting regular entrees and a drink and 2 beers it was $100 including tip. Just didn't understand the extra charge. read more

Day trip with a couple ladies from work and decided to do dinner at Dirty Dick's. Place was smaller than I thought it would be. Menu was very large, a lot to choose from. We were so excited to try this place hence the name. We were really bummed out. First of all the place has a confusing look. We sat in the additional part and it had ugly banquet/bowling alley furniture feel. We were so excited to get the shark kids drinks for $4 each. They were out of sharks which bummed everyone out. I then ordered the Dirty Banana in a souvenir cup only to be told they were out of cups and refused to put it in the Bloody Mary souvenir cup. This place will lose money bc we then did not order the drinks which totaled $21. Manager came by and I told him we were disappointed so he came back with ONE red Dirty Dicks squishy football when we had 3 kids at the table. They enjoyed fighting over that. We ordered 3 sides of fries, a crab dip app & 2 drinks and our bill was $60. This place is worth skipping. read more
