This is a solid go-to Sunday breakfast at 11:00 even with 30 minute wait, it was worth it. We went to Oscar's and a line, we went to IHOP and line, we went to Sophie's and closed, we went to Broken Egg and line, we considered several restaurants, but had passed by, so we Google and decide Dimitris - although we've had less than stellar experiences. It was worth it for the packed 30 minute wait, and the bottomless Mimosas and Bloody Mary's, and great Eggs Benedict Florentine (they poach eggs nicely) and big waffle with sliced fresh fruit and a special order soft omelette with ham and cheese. All as ordered, and an excellent waitress. Grits were nicely done as was the rye toast request. Beautiful Florisa morning near the lake. Dimitri's Restaurant was the obvious safe choice for lunch in the area, the parking lot was filled to capacity, although I must admit I'm pretty skeptical when it comes to diners with their catalog style menus that offers a little of everything and crosses many cultures. I find very few places that can offer this kind of diversity and maintain any kind of quality so as I trolled through the endless menu I simply couldn't decide and finally settled on a burger. The lunch time crowd crossed all demographics, families with young kids, retired folks looking for good food reasonably priced with portions that would allow them to carry home the leftovers, teens eating burgers and fries and the ones like myself just passing through looking for a decent restaurant with great service, good food and served reasonably fast. It's said that a first impression can be a lasting one, in this case I say that's not always true thankfully, frankly being overwhelmed by a menu is not the impression I'm looking for I prefer a one pager with a few soups and appetizers, a few daily specials, a few well thought out entrees and a piece of homemade pie. After sipping on my iced tea and contemplating whether to drink my tea and move on or simply to throw the dice and close my eyes and point to an item and go with it no matter where my finger landed I cautiously figured it out. After watching the amazing service and all the faces of those that seemed to enjoyed their choices I finally got the impression I was hoping for. This place is really good from the atmosphere, the service, the food, the prices they actually pulled it off. It was a pleasant experience and I left happy and definitely filled after eating only half of what was set before me. So my first impression was wrong but the lasting impression is the one that matters most, I'd definitely eat here again without any hesitation I'm glad I stayed for the entire experience it was surprisingly good. read more

During Sebring 12hr weekend, Dimitri's seemed to be the place where all the locals and race fans recommended for after race drinks and entertainment. The cocktails were fantastic with equally great service. The DJ spun memorable hip hop from the 80s and 90s that appealed to everyone including metal heads like me. I go to Dimitri's quite often. Went this evening sat at the bar and ordered the pork sandwich that is on special and a cocktail. Twenty minutes went by and no food, the bartender asked if I wanted another drink. I said I would like my food first. She then told me they are out of the sandwich and would I like to order something else. She said it was not her fault it was the kitchens. Nope, not happening. Very bad service. Today we had one of our worst experiances while dining out in Florida. We waited 40 minutes after placing our drink to see our waitress again to place food order. Manager noticed us and came over to get our orders which resulted in an angry waitress storming around dropping F bombs in front of the children with us. What was supposed to be a quick trip to get lunch turned into a 2 hr ordeal. Tables around us were not bussed and food, plates, drinks and trash littered all the tables around us. I was staying at the historic Kenilworth Lodge next door and stopped by this restaurant out of hunger more than curiosity. Seeing they had a Greek Omelet, eggs and feta cheese, compelled me to order that dish that no one can get wrong. And it was good. My iced tea and omelet brought my checkout to less than 8 dollars. I was less excited by the service and the near total lack of branding it represented. Regarding the service, I did not see the servers engaging the clientele in conversation anywhere. As far as branding, the place is very generic. It's a wonderful property and the restaurateur in me would love to see this be a dual-brand with the little bar attached to it. Mexican bar and seafood dive? They call the restaurant the Palm Diner and the bar the Back Alley Bar. You can't get more generic than that. All in all, expect nothing fancy. Not good. Seems like a popular geriatrics spot. Felt like a cheap 90's buffet. Dark atmosphere, old booths, paper printed menu's. Food was not good. Dimitris who knew this odd bar/diner would be as good as it was especially considering the location and price. We were visiting friends who live in this area. This area is notvknow for its food to be honest. In fact I dread eating here each year. I looked at Yelp reviews and took a gamble on Dimitri's. The 5 of us were seated inside in the diner part immediately. From the inside clientele it was a much older early bird special kinda crowd. Our waitress may not have been the most well groomed person ever but she was nice attentive and didn't miss a beat. She was really exceptional. I ordered -Fried Green Tomatoes as an app to try since it was only $4. They were the best I ever had. Most entrees came with soup, salad, sides and dessert. This was a lot of food. We got -blue cheese side salad so yum -Maryland seafood soup soso -beef vegetable soup yum -tuna salad sandwich was great -Greek salad, my fried ate it all sooo -the meatloaf with spaghetti? Heck it was tasty -the Chop Steak was really good -mashed potatoes yum -egg salad sandwich and potato wedges my other friend ate it all and I stole a couple yummy potatos. -corn bread was brought out enough for us each to have a piece. Drinks were refilled often. -dessert was peach cobbler which we got to go. It looked disgusting but we took a bite before tossing and wow looks are deceiving. Ate every bite. The servers are very friendly. The food isn't going to win any awards but it's predictable and consistent. Great comfort food. Great place to go when you can't decide what you want to eat because they have a little bit of everything. Full bar, sandwiches, burgers, and other "traditional" diner food. It's not uncommon to see Dimitri sitting at a table doing paperwork in the afternoons. It's also very affordable, especially given the inflationary prices we all endure these days. read more

Well in short the food was deserving of a person with no taste buds i'm not a fan. There was little execution of basic culinary skills used or elevation. Was informed wine would be used to make my pasta? Which was actually rice not pasta and on top was not even reduced out or anything. The appetizer was frozen calamari with little elevation served with what possibly is the most interesting disgusting tomato based marinara I could only begin to elaborate. The two stars of the show was the bread rolls and salad because those don't require much assistance in elevation or execution. The same lettuce within the salad also doubled as a presentation which severely lacked on each plate in the calamari bed as well as other presentations i'm sure. In short the restaurant menu was vast quite possibly because they feel that there food is so good they need to add more pages to compensate for everyone. Again not a good sign. Despite leaving and quickly my date begin to retch into a toilet and I writing this with what I can only tell is to be a sour stomach cannot let this place rest without my attempt to make known that I do not advise others to wonder if the food is good enough. Dimitri's Family Restaurant is located behind the old broken down Kenilworth in Sebring Florida right there on Kenilworth and Lakeview. I've had a number of their dishes. Chicken and dumplings are just not good. The "dumplings" are not dumpling-like at all. It's more like chicken noodle soup with some soggy bits of dough thrown in. And that chicken noodle soup isn't all that great, either. I love Eggs Benedict, but only when it's done right. The hollandaise sauce is just so-so, and that is the most important part of the dish. Other little things bother me about the dining experience here. When I order French fries, the waitress should automatically bring me ketchup with those fries, even if I don't ask for it. That never happens here. If I order a cup of coffee, automatically bring cream with my coffee. I have always had to ask for cream after my coffee comes to the table. Always bring extra napkins with my food without my asking. These are little details, to be sure, but they all add up. Because if your food comes to the table, it is likely going to be 5-10 minutes before your server reappears so you can ask for ketchup or cream for your coffee or napkins. Sadly, it's just not a place I can recommend. read more

Where to start? It took an 1.5 after calling for the pizza to be delivered. The top of the box was cold , so some one else's pop ? ? thinking I was the last delivery of the orders in the car. The pizza had to be heated in order to eat it. It was a Hawaiian (ordered extra ham and pineapple) -if that was extra hate to see what it would have been otherwise. Toppings were a good 3 plus inches from the crust. I found a piece of sausage and a piece of chicken on the pizza WT? NEVER will order from here again! Have been to Dimitris several times. Generally love the food and give them 4-5 stars. But they have made a change and that's why I am now downgrading them. Went there recently and got the Fish and Chips. As usual, the service was excellent. The 4 fish pieces were well done and more than what you'd expect. The coleslaw, as usual, was small but tasty. Wish they would give you more coleslaw but this is a personal issue. My gripe is with the new french fries. Previously, they were thick steak fries. True chips you'd expect in Fish and Chips. Now they are skinny flavored fries that come out in big clumps. Hate the new fries. Will not be ordering any meal with fries unless I can substitute them for something else. read more

This is a unique place to eat. Truly what you would find in a tropical location with indoor/outdoor seating, large open windows with barstools at the windows. Ordered the Tuscany Chicken pizza. It was very tasty and the crust was actually very good, unlike what you would find at Domino's or Pizza Hut. The mixed drinks were rather on the strong side but very good. The live band was pretty good considering their drummer was late. Kudos for a great effort. This place is a must visit if you're in the area. It's a locals hangout so you know the food is good. Also if you're in need of laundry service, there's a laundromat directly behind it so throw your clothes in the wash, set a timer on your phone to check your clothes and head to the restaurant to eat.
