Dated but kept in beautiful shape!
    Steven B.

These folks are a chain that began in the 50s. You can't stick around that long without at least acceptable meals. I've been to this location a few times because my elderly mother really enjoyed it. It's been 7 years since my original review so it's time for an update. I blew in here on a Sunday around 8 am for breakfast. Arriving- They are on the southbound side of US 27 and simple to find. Giant parking lot so that's no problem. Pro Tip- Like many businesses that front a busy hwy, there is an entrance/exit on each side of the building. One has a traffic light onto Route 27 and the other doesn't. When you leave, can you guess which one you should pick? Ambience- Dated but spotlessly clean and kept in beautiful shape. Lots and lots of booths. Covered outside seating is available. Pro Tip- Free Wi-Fi. It's slow but gets the job done! Customer Service- Better than excellent! Seated immediately with coffee & a menu right away. Friendly and efficient server. Checked on appropriately. I couldn't ask for more! Food- Standard American breakfast menu with the addition of a few specialty skillets. I chose the Bacon & Chili Crisp Skillet with scrambled eggs. Note, don't expect chili but chili seasoning. It came with toast and of course, I added coffee. The pre-tip tab was about $15. The skillet base was crispy potatoes topped with diced onion & tomato, bacon, mozzarella cheese, and my scrambled eggs. The chili seasoning was there but wasn't too spicy and overall, the dish was very satisfying. I enjoyed a solid meal at a competitive price in a decent atmosphere with excellent service so 4-stars!

    Worn out wall paper

Food was average but the decor needs attention. General manager needs to step up and do something.

For $30, I had a three course meal- pie, salad, and dinner. The salad, pie, hashbrowns, and Texas toast was good. Everything else, besides the potatoes was edible. I was not a fan of the potatoes. We stopped for Free Pie Wednesday and had free pie, so no big complaints.

California skillet , over easy eggs and French toast

We got seated right away. I ordered the California skillet with French toast and my wife order blueberry pancakes with egg and cheese . The food was great!

First time there and didn't disappoint. Great service, and the omelets were great. Clean and friendly.

Village Inn is a pretty decent chain with restaurants in a double dozen or so states. While they offer a solid lunch and dinner menu, breakfast is their sweet spot. Oh, and pies. Don't forget pies. So on my first morning in Sebring, I hit up something consistent for breakfast. Clean parking lot and the restaurant looked quite tidy. Staff was attentive and smiling. Not very busy at 8 am on a Monday, so I was brought to a table quickly. My order was taken, my coffee was brought and then my breakfast arrived a few minutes later. As ordered, a Western omelet. A good amount of cheese and other stuffings, plus home fries and toast on the side. Quite filling and quite tasty. I can't complain. They seemed truly disappointed that I didn't get a pie to go, so I was reminded to come back later for pie.

Side salad follow up by a chicken pot pie.

Wines from all around the world. Their list rivals the finest Miami restaurants. I started with a Green Goddess Wedge Salad. The Green Goddess dressing was delicious. It was a nice change from the standard blue cheese wedge dressing. My entree was the Suprema Christina, a classic from 1992. It's a tender chicken breast pan sautéed with mushrooms in a sherry lobster sauce. It came with two jumbo Key West shrimp and linguini pasta. The side green beans were pan seared and nicely wrinkled. The whole dish was an A+. I also enjoyed a nice Justin Cabernet Sauvignon. This restaurant and hotel are nicely positioned near the water. The lobby was beautifully decorated for Christmas. I highly recommend visiting this great establishment.

Chicanes Promises Upscale Dining but Delivers an Uneven Experience…read more Chicanes carries itself like an upscale dining room, which is why the night's missteps stood out more than they should have. The evening began on a sour note, and not because of anything on the plate. A heavy downpour had turned the entrance into a shallow lake with slick footing, the kind that makes every step feel unsure. My husband took a hard fall, wrenching his back and bruising his hip. Another guest later mentioned the same slick approach, which tells me this is more than bad luck. For a restaurant that draws an older crowd, safety at the door should not be an afterthought. Inside, the welcome was much warmer. The staff was friendly and our server Ethan handled the holiday rush with calm attention. He stayed present without hovering and made sure we had what we needed. If only the kitchen had matched his level of care. The Thanksgiving menu looked promising, but the execution never quite reached the level the price tag promised. The lobster arrived overcooked and clinging stubbornly to its shell. The sauce meant to lift it fell flat. The butternut squash bisque was pleasant enough, though short on depth. The apple walnut salad was a clear winner. Crisp, balanced, and bright. It deserves a permanent spot on the menu. The entrées continued the theme of missed opportunities. The vegetables needed seasoning, especially the Brussels sprouts, which tasted like they had skipped the last step before leaving the kitchen. The potatoes au gratin stole the show, rich and comforting, which only highlighted how muted everything else tasted. For a meal tipping the scale at around $140, the food should meet the standard the setting implies. Chicanes has the bones of a great restaurant. The staff is strong, the room is inviting, and the menu choices read well. But the flavors need more care, more confidence, and more seasoning. A place aiming for an upscale experience has to deliver more than ambiance. There is potential here, but potential is not enough at this price. With steadier footing at the entrance and sharper execution in the kitchen, Chicanes could be worth the splurge. Tonight, it wasn't.

Oscar is a real person and he's still there and an all-around great guy! So today I blew in for breakfast. Note this is a breakfast & lunch place that generally closes at 2pm. Arriving- They are on US Route 27 South in Village Fountain Plaza. It's hidden way in the back as deep into the plaza as you can get. Parking is plentiful. Ambience- Pretty typical for Central Florida. A nicely finished room that is light on the décor. Booths along the walls and tables in the middle. A small side room for the lunch Taco Buffet. Pro Tip- They do not have their own Wi-Fi, but a Xfinity Hot Spot is close by. Customer Service- My server today was adequate. She seated me immediately and I had coffee and a menu within a minute or two and said coffee was refilled when needed. Her personality was neutral. Adult Libations- If you come here for lunch, beer and wine are available! Food- This is a Mexican American joint, so you'll see both on the standard fare menu. I ordered the Chorizo Omelet with Home Fries and of course coffee. I paid a little extra for a side of Pico de Gallo. My tab pre-tip was $15. My omelet had a little kick and was truly exceptional! The home fries were just OK. A couple of pieces were undercooked, and a couple were burnt. The Pico de Gallo was crazy fresh and delicious! The coffee was excellent. The inside dining room is wonderful! A true old-fashioned tropical feel. Our waiter was a little odd, but competent. I wasn't real hungry, so I just had a shrimp cocktail. My friend had the duck. The shrimp cocktail was delicious, the cocktail sauce, a bit spicy. Had too much pepper for me. When I mentioned that to the waiter, he told me it was not spicy. He said it only had pepper in it. I said well after I mixed it was a little better. I don't think a waiter should contradict what a customer says if there is a problem; he should help to alleviate the issue. Obviously, somebody didn't stir the cocktail sauce well, still the pepper was a bit heavy. What's troubling is I specifically asked the waiter if the sauce would be hot , as in spicy. My friend said the duck was very nice. As I recall, they served some complementary bread and it was good. I hope to go back to Palm Heights, where this restaurant is located, and I am sure to go back to Tillies.
