Meh! Bland bland bland with undercooked and cool fries. I'll say it again, Meh!
Steven B.

My MD said my cholesterol was awesome, so I said, "What the hell!" and stopped here! Atmosphere- I was there at about 5 PM and the place was bustling. This location also has a drive-thru and it was also hopping. Inside was clean and bright and well maintained. Customer Service- I couldn't have asked for much more! I waited in line maybe two minutes. The girl behind the register was wonderful and very efficient. She greeted me with a big smile and I was done in maybe a minute. I ordered the chicken platter and with drink it was just under $10. This is one of those fast-casual places where they give you a number and your order is brought to your table. You need to grab your own utensils, napkins, dipping sauces, etc. from the mostly typical table. What wasn't typical was how spotless it was and heavy metal silverware as an option. That was a surprise! My food arrived in about two minutes. My server introduced herself by name and asked if I needed anything else? Another big smile. So far, I was very impressed! Food- And here is where my experience went downhill. As soon as I saw my plate I knew there were going to be problems. I tried one of the two hushpuppies and they were great. Piping hot and flavorful and moist on the inside. That was the highlight of my meal. The coleslaw was boring. It had no sparkle or zest it was just there. It was just chopped something or other in dressing. I was unimpressed. My fries were undercooked, lacking in seasoning and barely warm. I called the young lady over that had served them and asked if she could replace them. The reply was an instant, "Of course," My replacements were piping hot, under seasoned and boring. They were a complete waste of space. It's interesting that three other tables of four also asked for replacement fries. It would be great if they could get it right the first time! My chicken should have been the star of the show, but it was anything but that. The pieces had an extremely thick hard batter that was devoid of seasoning once again. The chicken inside was hot and moist but the batter armor spoiled everything. What a culinary disaster. The dipping sauces helped to save a very mediocre meal. Conclusion- There were a lot of folks here that seemed to be happily chowing down their meal. Maybe their model is to save everything with their dipping sauces. In any case the food was so lacking in seasoning that I won't be back. This location was surrounded with other restaurants with much better food. I suggest you avail yourself with one of them.

We were met with tables, arranged to seat 12 of us, covered in white tablecloths, with small candle lamps on the table. My mother remarked on the beautiful place settings. Our server, Lauren, immediately took our beverage orders, and promptly returned with our requests. Once everyone arrived, we received plates of sliced bread with seasoned dipping oil. Our brunch orders were filled quickly, and our family from large cities were very impressed with the presentation and variety of the menu offerings. We could not have asked for a nicer afternoon. They stopped serving brunch at 2 PM, but did not rush us out of the restaurant, and helped present Mom's birthday cake. We hope to celebrate her 100th birthday there next year!

The restaurant is beautiful, and our server was so kind, taking time to explain the menu, desserts, and drinks. She checked on us regularly and made sure we were taken care of. The food was delicious, the prices were fair, and the portions were generous enough to fill you up without being overwhelming. The desserts were good, though none of us completely fell in love with them. Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience and will definitely be back to try something new the next time I visit Sebring!

Finding my way in the more rural areas of our fine state for work - and literally driving there and…read moremy meetings on an empty stomach - I found Cody's on the recommendation of a Yelp bro & stopped for a late lunch / early dinner before heading back to the 305. The decor is classic 50s roadside diner with old license plates on the wall, an old pickup truck outside and a TV on ESPN by my table. The menu is classic Americana / diner fare with a southern touch. I'd been on an empty stomach through my 3 hour drive and meetings, so by the time I sat down to eat, I almost would have even eaten the paper the menu was written on :) Since it was a little bit on the chilly side, I started with their hearty cup of baked potato soup, deliciously loaded with cheese & bacon bits in a stew. Their warm, buttery and fluffy rolls topped with cinnamon butter were worth every single gram of carbs and almost functioned as a dessert themselves. Then came my yummy main dish, a roasted half chicken with just the right amount of skin and garnished with a smoky barbecue sauce. It was a sizable bird, taking up a nice bit of plate real estate, though leaving just enough room for a warm and topped with butter sweet potato. Needless to say, I still had room for dessert, and enjoyed their Keylime pie. Mal, my waitress, was very pleasant and I didn't have to wait for soda refills. Plating was also on time. I noticed they also had a Valentine's Day local special. It seems like this is a happening place in Sebring and I'd stop by next time I'm in the area.

My home is in Highlands County and the biggest restaurateur in the county owns three wildly diverse…read morerestaurants and this is one of them. I've eaten here many times, but this time my meal was exceptional! Arriving- This place is out in the boondocks of Avon Park! Trust your GPS to get you started. Once you are closing in there is excellent signage. Of course, you're parking at the clubhouse and there is a decent lot. Watch out for golf carts! Atmosphere- This is a golf club restaurant that is open to the public. It's a big, bright, airy place with two large rooms and a beautiful bar. As many of the customers are just off the golf course, it's very casual. It has quite a few TVs for catching a game but it's definitely not a sports bar. Customer Service- Our server was a bit of a mix. She was very new, very nice, but lacking in knowledge. With a little time, I think she'll be great. Food- A combo of unique and classic American fare. You've got your burgers, chicken parm and alfredo dishes. There is a selection of flatbreads that are awesome, and a giant pretzel served with warm beer cheese that is incredible to share! I was on a mission. I had seen an 8 oz. skirt steak with chimichurri on the menu. It's not often I see chimichurri and I was drooling. I paired it with some fries and looked forward to an amazing lunch. It was out in good time. For a lunch plate, it was a very nice presentation. The nicely seared steak was coated with chimichurri with some additional served on the sided. The pickled onions were a nice touch. The fries were beautifully cooked. The steak was fantastic and a perfect medium rare. The chimichurri was bursting with flavor and the fries were exceptional! The meal was an easy five stars, but the service was a bit off. I'm going with four stars and a strong recommendation to get the skirt steak!

Chicanes Promises Upscale Dining but Delivers an Uneven Experience…read more Chicanes carries itself like an upscale dining room, which is why the night's missteps stood out more than they should have. The evening began on a sour note, and not because of anything on the plate. A heavy downpour had turned the entrance into a shallow lake with slick footing, the kind that makes every step feel unsure. My husband took a hard fall, wrenching his back and bruising his hip. Another guest later mentioned the same slick approach, which tells me this is more than bad luck. For a restaurant that draws an older crowd, safety at the door should not be an afterthought. Inside, the welcome was much warmer. The staff was friendly and our server Ethan handled the holiday rush with calm attention. He stayed present without hovering and made sure we had what we needed. If only the kitchen had matched his level of care. The Thanksgiving menu looked promising, but the execution never quite reached the level the price tag promised. The lobster arrived overcooked and clinging stubbornly to its shell. The sauce meant to lift it fell flat. The butternut squash bisque was pleasant enough, though short on depth. The apple walnut salad was a clear winner. Crisp, balanced, and bright. It deserves a permanent spot on the menu. The entrées continued the theme of missed opportunities. The vegetables needed seasoning, especially the Brussels sprouts, which tasted like they had skipped the last step before leaving the kitchen. The potatoes au gratin stole the show, rich and comforting, which only highlighted how muted everything else tasted. For a meal tipping the scale at around $140, the food should meet the standard the setting implies. Chicanes has the bones of a great restaurant. The staff is strong, the room is inviting, and the menu choices read well. But the flavors need more care, more confidence, and more seasoning. A place aiming for an upscale experience has to deliver more than ambiance. There is potential here, but potential is not enough at this price. With steadier footing at the entrance and sharper execution in the kitchen, Chicanes could be worth the splurge. Tonight, it wasn't.
