-The best buffet in Highlands Cty!-…read more It's been around for over 13 years! Made it through the pandemic and always busy even in this tough economy. It's the Energizer Bunny of buffets! Arriving- They are in a huge plaza northbound on US Rute 27. Turn in when you see the MickyD's in front of it. Parking is a snap. Ambience- Way, way nicer than most casual buffets. Fancy lighting. There is an actual Koi pond with an ornamental bridge the kiddos will love. It's a big place with both booths and tables. Clean Men's restroom. I didn't check the Ladie's room because I wanted to avoid the screaming that would ensue! Casual dress or less is just fine. Customer Service- They bring your drinks and clear the plates. I've never had a problem, and they bring your check quickly. Pricing- Weekday lunch is around $15. Dinner is about $2 more. Dinner prices all day on Sunday. Extra seafood on Friday & Saturday nights. There is a small Senior Discount and special prices for the munchkins. There is a counter when you walk in, where you can pay before you are seated. I've never done that! I pay the server when I'm done and that's also just fine. Pro Tip #1- They do offer a full menu instead of the buffet and after dozens of visits, I've never noticed anyone ordering from it! Pro Tip #2- If your party is 6 or more, they are happy to make a reservation. Trust me and do it. Food- Eight buffet tables in the center of the room and a Sushi table and Hibachi Station along one wall. Over 100 choices. They have hand-dipped ice cream for dessert that is very popular. Pro Tip #3- The sushi table is very generic and that's not why you come here. The same is true of the few American items. Come here for Chinese food! Be a smart buffet patron and make your first trip a sampler plate. Go back for the selections you like best. 100 items will satisfy just about everyone. There is nothing fancy here. This is solid Chinese food, and you've seen most everything at other places. That's not a bad thing! Occasionally, one of my selections is not as hot as I would like but that is rare. Conclusion- I've been dozens of times as a single, couple, and in groups up to 12 folks and never had a bad time.

The best part for me was the Huge Hibachi grill in the back. You get to select from a variety of freshly cut vegetables and a variety of proteins. I had mine prepare with a combination of Mongolian and Pepper sauces and it was quite good. I am definitely disappointed that like other places in town, they don't have fried rice. They have yellow rice, but not real fried rice. The service was very good, my drink was quickly filled when it got low. The tables are spaced out well and it wasn't loud despite there being a lot of diners including children. Can't say I will go her regularly but they have a selection of foods for everyone and you won't leave hungry.

It's been over five years since I reviewed these folks and yup, they have changed, for the better! Atmosphere- None! That's right none and you can thank the pandemic for that! The small dining room is shut down and the walk-up counter is almost completely enclosed in plywood which I sincerely hope is temporary. See my pictures. I did notice that everything is spotless. Food- I wanted to compare apples to apples so I ordered my go-to stuff that I get at my 1st choice joint. So, a small pork rice, fried dumplings, and Mongolian Beef. It cost within a buck of my other place so who cares. It was ready quickly and very nicely packaged. The fried rice was just fine and as far as I could tell, virtually the same as my other place. Much to my surprise, the dumplings were better! The count was the same but there was more and tastier filling! Another surprise was the Mongolian Beef as it was also better! Although you can't see it in my picture, it had bunches of those baby corns that I dearly love. It also had chopped cabbage which was unexpected but tasty! So, One item was the same and two were better! I may need to change my allegiance!

Today my husband and I were lucky enough to make the 2pm closing of the newest Sebring cafe on 27…read more The lot was full and the location still had several booths and tables to sit in. The atmosphere was that of a diner with booths and tables, a nice longer table set for a group of almost 12. Specials on the board were of lunch and I was told by our pleasant waitress Amanda, we could choose breakfast or lunch on the weekend. I got to view both menus with fair prices and noted very full plates of specials coming out. One was liver and onions with mashed potatoes piled high. The older gentleman stated, "Now this is how liver and onions should be". The whole table was pleased with many eating that and the pork chop special. We chose to have breakfast and the pancakes were huge on the combo one. Both of us chose different potatoes and both were great. If anything the sausage patty was not to my liking. I like the actual patties. My husbands bacon was great. You get about 2 eggs with the specials. Sandy who is the owner is also the cook and training upcoming cooks. The couple was both there and the waitress staff was on point and actually friendly, unlike some places, this location felt like it could be our go to. Like at home, as some local bars feel, they welcome you. We will try sometime again if we can catch the hours as we just do not get going in the AM out of the house and I never want to feel a rush getting anywhere after 1pm when I know they are closing as most all places do in Lake Placid where we live. I highly suggest this location and supporting Sandy and her lovely staff in which I had the pleasure to meet today and enjoy a late breakfast out.

As a Floridian, I found it off-putting. It was a strange welcome. The restaurant is small, though a mirrored back wall makes it look much deeper. It was clean. Some tables had not yet been cleared when I arrived around 1 p.m., possibly after the lunch rush. My cheeseburger was $8.75, with fries and coleslaw available as a $4.25 combo. The burger patty was very small compared with the bun, which made the price hard to justify. To be fair, the meat had very good flavor. They have the seasoning right; I just wish there had been more burger. The fries looked freshly cut, but mine were soggy and quite salty. The menu listed fries and coleslaw with the combo. The coleslaw was initially forgotten, and by the time the waitress brought it after I asked, I had finished eating. She was very nice, but after bringing my drink and food, she did not check back or offer a refill before bringing the bill. My meal came to about $20. There were things I liked, especially the burger's flavor and the friendly waitress. But given the portion size, fries, service, and price, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again or recommend it based on this visit.

Very nice, tall blonde. She was very honest. She told us the steaks aren't local. She then told us about the fries that are hand cut everyday aren't crisp. They're more flimsy. She also let us know they make 3 homemade salad dressings. We ordered the fried pickles first. They came out small cut, with ranch dressing and seasoned well. I actually liked them. We then ordered our meal. We picked our steak of the rib eye 18 oz. We ordered it medium rare. Steak also came with 2 sides or you can get up charged for other items. I got fries and the mashed potatoes. My wife got her 2 sides as she was also charged 6 dollars for 2 sides and a salad. She got the baked potato and cabbage. The steak came out perfect. Good char on it. Medium rare was good. I liked it a lot. Not tough. The fries like she said came out limp. They weren't bad. Mashed potatoes were good. Nothing to write home about. My wife said the bake potato was good. And the cabbage was ok. The waitress was attentive and made sure our drinks were full when needed. Overall, I'd say the food was a 4.4 with the salad being a small plate with normal stuff. The fries were also missing that crunch factor. The mashed potatoes were ok. The steak is what saved it and the pickles.
