It is a cute diner with plenty of seating including at the counter, tables & booths. We were greeted very warmly and seated promptly. Our server, Ashley, was very attentive and friendly. On our way out, the cook/owner thanked us for coming. Our food was served quickly and hot. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. The restaurant offers a 5% military and first responders discount. The restaurant is clean, bright and nicely decorated. Ample street parking. There is one bathroom for patrons. Our party had a very relaxing and pleasant experience. We will definitely return in the near future.

- No, it's not that Depot! -…read more There was a Depot restaurant in town forever and ever that closed after many years. This one has recently opened and is unrelated. It's a mother and daughter, breakfast & lunch place. Arriving- It's on Main Street, about two minutes off US Route 27 North. There is free but limited street parking in the front. Pro Tip- Circle around the back to a beautiful free parking lot with back door access. Ambience- Clean, bright, and beautifully maintained, two room establishment. There is also a small counter that looks directly into the kitchen. This is a very comfortable place to grab a meal. Pro Tip #2- There is no Wi-Fi, so you'll be stuck with pokey 5G. Customer Service- My server was one of two and a little overworked. Even so, she was friendly and efficient and took the time to answer my questions so no complaints. I was there for breakfast and just as I was wondering about my meal, it came out so a little slow. See my picture for the one-page breakfast menu. Standard American comfort food with no surprises. I ordered a Ham & Cheese Omelet, home fries, toast, and a soda to drink. Note that they serve Pepsi products here. I was slightly surprised that their omelets here are two-egg instead of the typical three. The meal set me back about $14. That's typical for this area. My toast was buttered, warm and had a satisfying crunch. My potatoes were piping hot and perfect! My omelet had plenty of ham & cheese, was not overcooked, and delicious. As expected, it was a little smaller than places that use three eggs. Conclusion- They are very new but coming along just fine. They need to tweak the staffing just a bit. They use handheld devices for payment, so I know they have Wi-Fi. They need to open it up for customers. It will be interesting to see if they stick with two-egg omelets or move to three. Overall, a solid place to stop for casual, comfort food!

A large portion of the food pictures on Yelp are mine. I am eminently qualified to review this place so here you go! Arriving- On Main St., 30 seconds off US Route 27. The road is divided so you'll need a quick U-turn. You'll see a well-maintained large parking lot for your convenience. Visiting- This is a breakfast and lunch place but note that dinner type meals are available for lunch. This is Snowbird country and when they're in town I'd stay away from the late Sunday morning church rush. Trust me! Ambience- Florida kitsch and 50s-60s cars décor. Booths along the walls and the usual two-tops and four-tops. No problems with cleanliness. Pro Tip- Decent free wi-fi with no password hassles. Quaffing Choices- No booze here just fountain drinks. Of course, plenty of hot and iced coffee and tea. Pro Tip- If you are dying for an adult libation, have a great lunch here and 30 seconds down the road is a great dive bar that will meet your needs. Just Yelp it! Customer Service- Expect hustling, friendly, competent servers. It's very rare for me to have a problem and any I have are almost always trivial and rectified immediately! Food- A large, laminated sheet with breakfast and lunch on each side. Maybe a tent card with specials. Home-style, American-style comfort food brought to you in often very large portions. There are no surprises here. You'll recognize everything and nothing is fancy, just good, stick to your rib's food! See my pictures for lots and lots of examples. I like one of their several omelets for breakfast. Club sandwiches are large and fresh. The chef's salad is enormous! The Philly cheesesteak is better than decent. I recently enjoyed a giant pork tenderloin sandwich. Burgers are great. They maintain their fryers well and know how to use them so expect solid fried food. Pricing- Assuming you have a drink other than water, most of your meals here are going to be under $15 pre-tip and you will be stuffed! Just a super place for a quick and casual breakfast or lunch. Easily 4 and more like 4.5 stars!

These fine folks do it for weekday lunches at $7.99 and I finally had a chance to give it a shot. Wowza! It was definitely worth an update to my existing review and also an increase to four stars! The deal is two buffet tables; one hot and one cold. You can choose soft or hard tacos along with those big taco bowls. There was a choice of beef, chicken or pulled pork. Are you kidding me, pulled pork! There was rice and beans of course. There were also two soups. I couldn't snag a picture because there was never a time when it wasn't surrounded by happy, hungry folks. I did snag a picture of the cold table. Everything was delightfully fresh! I spotted the owner a least a couple of time checking on things. An interesting observation- About a third of the customers were passing on the tacos and just piling their plates with all the different choices. Pro Tip- They have recently added a full bar so you can now have a margarita or a Corona or whatever with your tacos. If you are blowing through Sebring at lunchtime during the week, this is one hell of a deal.

I always love it when a new restaurant opens in my Highlands County and this place debuted in…read moreNovember. It's a little off the beaten path for me and I'm a lazy ass so it took me until this weekend to get there! Arriving- It's in the clubhouse of the North Golf Course in the Highland's Ridge Community. Follow the signs for that clubhouse or let your GPS do the work. If you are familiar with the area, it was formally The Tavern. Ambience- So this is what a lot of folks would call a Country Club restaurant. As I had patronized the old tenants, I was curious how they were going to transform it into an Irish Pub. The answer is they didn't! It looks nothing like and Irish Pub. It's a large space with lots of natural light and traditional furniture. It has lots of outside seating that's covered with ceiling fans and many seats have a nice view! There is a very small bar that seats about six. In short, it looks like a Country Club restaurant. So much for pub ambience! Customer Service- Awesome, maybe seven stars! I had substantial interactions with the manager, bartender, and a server. All were exceptional. Adult Libations- Definitely not a pub style bar. It's a full bar with just a few taps but nothing special. Food- Like the ambience, it's an American menu with a couple of Irish dishes. There's Bangers & Mash and Shepard's Pie. Other than that, they throw in a couple of Irish terms to deceive you but it's really an American menu. There're enough choices to satisfy most folks. See their website. I ordered Irish Brisket Flatbread- Brisket, bacon, caramelized onions, diced tomatoes, BBQ sauce, mozzarella cheese @ $13. It was out in good time and plated very nicely. Plenty of food for the price so good value. The flatbread was nicely crisp. I love caramelized onions and that's the base here. Everything was very fresh. Plenty of brisket. Unfortunately, the onions overpowered the other ingredients, so the flavors were not balanced. It was tasty but needed a little work to be a winner. Conclusion- If you're looking for an Irish Pub, you're in the wrong place. If you're looking for an American menu that has some potential with a great staff and beautiful outside seating, give it a try. As they are new and the staff is awesome combined with the outside seating, I'm going to be a little charitable and say four stars!

BTW- She's a real person and is on a mission to bring awesome Cuban food to Avon Park! Arriving- They are directly on Main Street where all parallel parking is free. Also, on the same side of the street, there is a free parking lot about a 5 second drive past the entrance. Hours- So many small restaurants in this area open for breakfast and lunch only. I'm delighted to say they are open for all three meals! Ambience- Yikes, this place is tiny! I'm thinking it will seat around 20 with a mix of 2-top and 4-top tables. Thankfully, they are well spaced. A nice touch was background Cuban music. Wi-Fi- It's available but only for the employees. This annoys me and other customers and Sophie needs to reconsider that decision. Customer Service- I was touched by two folks. My server was subdued but pleasant and efficient. The lady that cashed me out was friendly and I received a genuine smile and a thank you! Food- The menu is huge! If you'd like a headstart, it's beautifully presented on their website. There is Cuban, and Cuban- American food nicely organized. On this visit ordered a Three Meat Omelet with Cuban Toast @ 13.95. My omelet was one of the best I have ever had and cooked and plated with care. It was packed with savory meat and steaming hot and delicious. The Cuban Toast was perfect! Conclusion- We got a winner here! Next visit will be lunch or dinner.

I live here and we have dozens of delightful, small privately-owned Mexican restaurants of which this is one. Arriving- Facing Main Street with an adequate private lot so getting here and parking is a snap. Ambience- Not much but that's not why you're here. Like most of these joints it's a combo of a small store and a restaurant. A few tables and booths, an open kitchen, and a little Florida kitsch and that's it! The customers will be mostly Hispanic but a gringo like me will feel completely welcome. The Television will almost certainly be on a Hispanic channel. Note that this is one of the very few small Mexican joints that has table service! Adult Libations- Somewhere along the way they acquired a beer & wine license so be sure to grab a Corona or a Modelo to go with your meal. It will be served with an interesting bottle opener that you can see in my picture. Customer Service- Friendly and efficient and I've never had a problem. Food- A large, laminated menu with everything you would expect. Beef, chicken, pork, or shrimp, it's all there, Mexican style. I went with Carnitas served with rice and beans and a small side salad. It included my choice of flour or corn tortillas for $12.99. It was out very quickly. Delicious! The pork was moist, tender, and lightly seasoned with some sauce on the side. The rice and beans were hot and typical and tasty. The side salad was fresh, and my tortillas were nice and hot. A fine four-star Mexican meal that was very affordable. These fine folks are overshadowed by a hugely successful competitor a stones throw away. So, if you are sick of the giant Americanized Mexican places, give them a try, especially if you desire table service!
