Had to ask for water & coffee refill, toast was dark. The omelette was a little over done which made it dry. Biscuits & gravy was good.

My go to place for a home-cookin style breakfast or lunch! I've been here dozens of times over years and years. The owner and most servers know me by name. A large portion of the food pictures on Yelp are mine. I am eminently qualified to review this place so here you go! Arriving- On Main St., 30 seconds off US Route 27. The road is divided so you'll need a quick U-turn. You'll see a well-maintained large parking lot for your convenience. Visiting- This is a breakfast and lunch place but note that dinner type meals are available for lunch. This is Snowbird country and when they're in town I'd stay away from the late Sunday morning church rush. Trust me! Ambience- Florida kitsch and 50s-60s cars décor. Booths along the walls and the usual two-tops and four-tops. No problems with cleanliness. Pro Tip- Decent free wi-fi with no password hassles. Quaffing Choices- No booze here just fountain drinks. Of course, plenty of hot and iced coffee and tea. Pro Tip- If you are dying for an adult libation, have a great lunch here and 30 seconds down the road is a great dive bar that will meet your needs. Just Yelp it! Customer Service- Expect hustling, friendly, competent servers. It's very rare for me to have a problem and any I have are almost always trivial and rectified immediately! Food- A large, laminated sheet with breakfast and lunch on each side. Maybe a tent card with specials. Home-style, American-style comfort food brought to you in often very large portions. There are no surprises here. You'll recognize everything and nothing is fancy, just good, stick to your rib's food! See my pictures for lots and lots of examples. I like one of their several omelets for breakfast. Club sandwiches are large and fresh. The chef's salad is enormous! The Philly cheesesteak is better than decent. I recently enjoyed a giant pork tenderloin sandwich. Burgers are great. They maintain their fryers well and know how to use them so expect solid fried food. Pricing- Assuming you have a drink other than water, most of your meals here are going to be under $15 pre-tip and you will be stuffed! Just a super place for a quick and casual breakfast or lunch. Great food and service and very reasonable prices. The daily specials are great. Me and 4 of my Harley Ride group buddies from the Venice, Fl area stopped in for lunch. Everything was great! Unfortunately, as we were mounting our motorcycles to head off on the second half of our 220 mile ride I experienced a bike issue. The owner, John Dutcher, without reentering the diner, John was out in the parking lot eager to assist. John made a call and had a local mechanic on the spot in minutes and getting me and the guys back on the road. Service is always good. Food is good. I had the cheeseburger platter and it was delicious but not quite as good as other local restaurants.

Decided to take my wife out with my 8 month old child for a breakfast as I had seen this place and always wanted to check it out. I just love breakfast diners. We arrive, atmosphere is good, staff was nice, we place our orders and we wait. And wait. And wait. Mind you we were seated to the left of the cash register. More patrons came in, placed their orders, and were eating while we still waited on our breakfast. Well an hour rolls by, I'm not the type to complain I used to work in food business and I know how things can get but for breakfast items and the long wait? Not to mention the staff that took my order sitting there looking at me without batting an eye? I eventually inquired about my food and apparently my ticket had fallen. Okay, mistakes happen. But if you see people coming and going and we are still sitting there, wouldn't you stop to ask or go check on our food? Nope. We finally get our food, it's not the greatest but it left a bad taste in my mouth with the service. You figured we'd get at least our drinks comped? Nope. Paid my bill, I guess my savings came with my tip that I didn't leave. Never going back. Had coworkers state about going, told them don't bother. Oh and forgot to mention. They open their windows, have rockers in the front that people sit out and smoke. Had that smell coming into the diner and the staff didn't say anything to them. Typical diner food a block off US27. Choose from among a good selection of sandwiches, salads, or the entrees. I chose the special of the day - roast beef over mashed potatoes with the soup and salad bar for $6.99. My wife had the BLT with onion rings for $4.99. The place is family-run by very friendly people. Photos of classic cars are everywhere and the black and white vinyl tile floor is the dirtiest I have ever seen. Just your average roadside diner, good prices, big portions, ok food I had the corned beef hash, eggs, breakfast potatoes, and a biscuit. The hash was undercooked for my liking as I prefer it to have a little crisp and it was served quite soggy. The breakfast potatoes were well seasoned and tasty, although we had to search for our own ketchup. My boyfriend liked the biscuit, but it was a bit too greasy for my taste and would have preferred it with butter instead of margarine. read more

Loved the food, but the place was a bit dicey in the cleanliness department. There were unbussed tables and another that looked to be one being used by management as an office sort of thing since a laptop and other assorted crap was left lying about. Our table had not been wiped properly. But we persevered and I ordered the chicken fried steak, which was very good. My dining companion ordered a fried egg sandwich which she said was excellent. So the food here is great, the service is great, but the cleanliness factor is wanting. Please, if you are the owner of this restaurant and if you care, work on cleaning the place up.
