Shrimp rice noodle
Aida F.

It was a very busy Sunday, I saw a line out the door, so I knew it must be good. I went to the hostess stand, put myself on a waitlist, and they gave me a paper ticket number and within 5 minutes I got sat. I got a table for one and ordered a hot tea, B.B.Q. Pork buns (3) and shrimp rice noodle roll. The food was really good. The pork buns were so fresh and warm. They ripped apart perfectly and were steaming when they came out. They were so yummy. Sometimes when I order them they're hard and crispy... these were not. They were perfect! After the BBQ pork buns came out and I ate them and then then server said "ready for the check?", I felt like I was being rushed out. Then I told him I was still waiting on the shrimp rice noddle roll. For the rest of my stay I felt like I needed to hurry as they had people waiting to be sat. As for the shrimp rice noodle roll it was so good too, sometimes it all falls apart but these did not. They were wrapped well and super tasty. Overall a great experience. I will say though if you're a large party better to make a reservation a head of time.

Beautiful family style restaurant! Dim dum is authentic and priced reasonable. Everything arrived quickly. I would venture to see they is in our top 3 dim dum spots in NYC. Excellent!

We love going to Chinatown as it is always an experience--the energy, the sights, and of course, the food. We stopped in here for a quick dim sum lunch as a party of two. While dim sum is definitely better with a big group (so you can try a bit of everything!), we made it work with what we had. The Highlights: The shrimp dumplings (Har Gow) were excellent. The skins were perfectly translucent and the shrimp inside was fresh and snappy. We also really enjoyed the pork and chicken dumplings; the flavor was well-balanced and they arrived piping hot. Unfortunately, the pork ribs were actually terrible. They were the low point of the meal and, looking back, I definitely should have sent them back to the kitchen. I'd recommend skipping those and sticking to the traditional dumplings instead. Even with the "miss" on the ribs, you can't beat the atmosphere of a busy Chinatown dining room. Next time I'll bring a bigger crew so we can cover more of the menu!

Note: this place is cash only, they have 2 ATMs inside Ambiance - spacious, great for small and large groups Service - food came out fairly quickly, staff was nice Food - prices are definitely on the higher end, lots of the steamed dishes were lacking salt, crispy garlic space ribs were overfried

THE GOOD ---------------- + The dinner is mucccch, mucccch better than the dim sum food. ++++ Ordered Cold Platter (Jellyfish with Ham), Fish Filet with Tofu, Cantonese Style Lobster, Sweet and Sour Pork, Young Chow Fried Rice, Yi Mein and a few vegetable dishes and they were all excellent. Not a single complaint of any of them. Flavors were spot on and everything was absolutely delicious. + Service is fast! From the moment you order, to the point you receive the food, maybe only a few minutes passes and the dishes come out fast and furious! You don't get a chance to breathe as they all arrive THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Nada. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = On weekend evenings, be sure to make a reservation (if possible), if not, arrive a bit earlier for your dinner plans as the restaurant is EXTREMELY busy during this time.

Pros: - the dim sum comes out VERY hot and fresh, it might take a while to come out as each dish is made to order but, it doesn't take too long - the seasoning has improved and it's not overly seasoned Cons: - not necessarily a con unless you want the dim sum cart experience, this place doesn't have the carts, you order dim sum as you go - the service is questionable, there were only 2 tables when we were seated and about 3-4 waiters/waitresses walking/standing around, we were trying to get their attention but no one was looking or paying attention Comments: - came a few years ago, the food was over seasoned and not really your typical Chinese dim sum flavoring - went right when it opened on a Friday, right after Christmas - it definitely feels and sounds like a typical dim sum spot/Chinese restaurant, it can get very loud even if only half the space is filled. It's very lively and feels like home to me - would definitely recommend trying this place out once

- Returned for dinner this time and must say the food is better than the dim sum - Busy during Saturday dinner; we made reservations a week prior and our table was ready when we arrived - Dishes came out hot, fresh, and fast! - Everything was prepared perfectly and full of flavor - Generous portions all around - Waitstaff isn't overly warm, but they are efficient and get the job done

We came here on a Saturday for dimsum. It was packed but they got us seated within 20 minutes. The food was excellent we really enjoyed the vegetable spring rolls and lo mein. The service was quick for both the food and the tea. It is loud and bustling in here but that is the ideal ambiance for dim sum!

After Jimmy Yao standup show, we decide to head to Chinatown for some Canto dim sum. We arrive around 10ish, the place was packed as there's a CNY company dinner. The rude waiter said the kitchen is too busy just dim sum! After she pull the tea then she tell us CASH only. All right, she got an attitude problem. Under the subzero weather, we don't want to change the location & stay. We order 蝦餃, 煎釀矮瓜,釀豆腐,例牌叉燒.大鵬炒米。 All good but the price is out of the world. The bill end up $80.00 plus tip.Other place in Chinatown just as good should be $50.00 top. White people, tourist trap.搞撚錯

Sheer bliss! Found this gem during our most recent weekend trip to nyc. After visiting the Bridge Mall for some thrifting (didn't find sh*t), we were in the mood for good Chinese. Click Yelp and yep, Dim Sum Palace fit our needs perfectly. We ordered the sticky rice, bbq buns, crispy cucumber, shrimp dumplings, noodles and the sesame balls. Wow what a treat! Def filled with locals which is always a good sign! Sooo delicious!! Can't wait to try it again.

I really liked this place, they have a good variety of dim sum and main dishes. They are open till 3am which is a huge bonus and unlike alot of places in chinatown, they accept credit cards. The service was great and the prices were very affordable for the city. My favorite dishes were the fried turnip with roasted duck and the pork soup dumplings.

This place is Awful. Got soup dumplings with no soup, lychee shrimp (kinda an experimental choice, but this was not the worst thing we got) the mushroom dumpling w bamboo straight up just freaked me out I thought the bamboo was chicken legs just a total texture disaster, another one of the dumplings was mad undercooked on the outside it was sticking to everything and basically un-grabbable. Scallion pancakes had basically nothing inside and no sauce. The pork bun was too sweet and the pork was basically a liquid. All in all an awful experience. And I came here like "oh I heard of dim sum palace," mind you there's a million dim sum palaces in nyc. Lol Perhaps dim sum truly is only a breakfast thing.

For dim sum this place is the best in Chinatown. Things are freshly made, you actually have to wait a bit for the food, and it's all worth it. Traditionally dim sum is carted around but honestly a lot of places that still do it provide dishes which are not fresh. Okay if you just want the experience but if you want your food fresh, this is the place to be. It can get crowded and noisy when it's busy, and the bathrooms aren't always the cleanest but hey this is Chinatown.

Dish highlights include the shrimp and chive dumplings, beef chow fun, and my personal favorite, the stuffed eggplant. Other items were a little bland, like the turnip cakes and har gow, and the pan fried shrimp noodles were awkwardly plated and made them difficult to eat. I also wish they had rice noodle rolls, which I didnt see on the menu. Really what pushed it to 5 stars to me was the service. We came as a huge group of 20, with a baby and stroller in tow, and they handled everything without so much as a grimace, just an outpouring of helpfulness. They sat half our group at a round table and the other half at a rectangular long table and also helped us navigate dietary restrictions, asking specifically who in the group had those restrictions. The menu is labeled too, so you know which items are vegetarian or gluten free. At one point our helpful server noticed we hadn't really touched that awkwardly plated noodle dish and offered to replace it with another. We didn't take him up on that as I'd find that wasteful but I thought that was so attentive and earned them a generous tip. The space is nice looking, and the food came out very quickly. We also didn't break the bank, even with plenty of drink orders. Dao's is an easy recommendation, especially when you factor in how seamlessly they handled our chaos.

I was browsing for places with scallion pancakes and I came across this restaurant. I saw they had a scallion pancake beef rook which I'd never seen before. It was fried and crispy on the inside with tender beef on the inside, that was slightly savory slightly sweet. I had the roll on its own, which made for a light meal, but it can also be enjoyed as a large snack. It was a little greasy, which can be expected, but not sure if I'd get it again. I did think it was innovative though. The most impressive thing about the restaurant was actually the space. I came to pick up my food and was surprised to see this beautiful place. The outside is unassuming and nothing special but inside has the aesthetic of an old Shanghai restaurant. It's ornate and slightly quirky. It's also really big, bigger than I expected. Even the bathrooms had traditional Chinese flare with the sliding doors. Definitely worth checking out,

It's also nicely decorated, which makes you feel like you're in China. It's definitely for a younger crowd with how loud this place gets. We had a huge party, so we ordered an array of dishes to share family style. Some of the most memorable dishes were the Mapo Tofu ($13.99), Hutaoli Roast Chicken ($43 for whole), Spicy Pot Potato ($19), Roasted Green Beans ($22), etc. All of the food is good, but definitely pricey. While the food also came out quickly, our drinks came out towards the end of our meal. It's a good spot for big parties as it never got too busy even on a Saturday night. They also have private rooms. The live music was fun, but also made it hard to have conversation.
