Coastal Kitchen is connected to the Dillon Beach general store, making it convenient as a one stop shop. We showed up around 130 ish on a summer Saturday afternoon and got seated right away. The location has inside seating, as well as outside seating that faces the ocean. The venue itself feels trendy and modern, yet cozy and welcoming at the same time. The friendliness of the hostess and servers helps with the welcoming vibes! We shared the fish and chips with a bowl of chowder, in which both tasted extremely fresh. As a full time resident of Dillon Beach we are very happy with the results of Coastal kitchen. We have been there for dinner 8 times now and all good. This place did wonders with the seasonal fruits and vegetables! Peach and corn salsa was fresh, sweet, and refreshing (Altho the chips were slightly salty). The ahi tuna was beautifully prepared, and the avocado toast was cleverly paired with beets. The best dish of all has to be the shishito peppers with corn pudding, corn, and tomatoes. The corn pudding was creamy and sweet, and provided excellent contrast to the shishito peppers. The ingredients used here are fresh and thoughtfully paired. We had our daughter's graduation dinner with 12 guests here and could not have been happier. The menu is limited but everything was absolutely delicous. Manager Marla set us up perfectly. Our server Jennika was such a pro and fun as well! She even put up some party decorations that I dropped off the day before for us. Excellent meal at very fair price point. Menu changes weekly. We shared the Romano beans, clam chowder and burger/fries. All were wonderful. Burger had very nice seasoning and was cooked just as we asked for it. Finished with soft serve ice cream with hardened chocolate topping (served in a bowl). Nice selection of drinks, too. We are thrilled to have a quality dining option at Dillon Beach. Love the simple, beach decor, fabulous views of the beach but highly recommend dining at sunset. They will soon add high chairs outside and a Bbq during warmer months. Our son ordered the chicken and fries. He loves it and wouldn't share. Thick hand cut fries and likely local chicken. They change the menu daily based on what's locally sourced. They also have local Marin kombucha! The store next door has a kombucha bar. Yes! We also ordered the Vietnamese baby broccoli which had a lot of spice, grilled lime, soft boiled egg. That was my fav. Hubby got steak and roasted veggies and he shared! Perfectly cooked. Another home run was the clam chowder. Very unique! Whole potatoes, lots of herbs, clams in the shell. The broth was rich and delish. The fresh squeezed lemonade also a hit and was not being shared by our son! The oysters were fresh and light, not the typical Rockefeller. Pricey but worth it. Should the Coastal Kitchen continue to expand it's options based on popularity, my one contribution to the future of this lovely restaurant would be to offer a menu of "The Classics"... Fish and Chips, New England Clam Chowder, a crab sandwich (or any sandwich other than the Oyster one)... maybe even a pizza? We stopped in for a late lunch and beverage. Awesome drink selection and the view of the ocean is worth the trip in itself. We got the yellowtail dip, which had some kimchi in it, this was my favorite of the meal. My fiancé loved the oysters and the clam chowder. The arugula salad had some of the best croutons of my life. Best clam chowder ever, it had scallops in it too...very yummy. We are locals and try all the clam chowders in the area. We pulled up 10mins before the were closing,(2pm) felt bad so asked if they could still take 1 more order and with NO hesitation the cashier said absolutely . The Clam chowder was great but the hospitslitalty was even better, I want to try everything on the menu, especially the fish tacos n brisket sandwich...my daughter had the crab sandwich and said it was delicious. What a great spot to grab a bite to eat after a relaxing day on the beach.I went there on Saturday 7/18/20 with my wife and daughter after a great day at dillons beach,we stopped here on our way out of town heading back home.Because of covid 19 ordering is either done on line or show up like we did and place your order with the wait staff outside.I ordered fish and chips very tasty,fish was fresh and for 20 dollars the amount was generous.My wife ordered a burger she enjoyed it,our daughter ordered chicken nuggets she said they tasted a little fishy (she doesn't like fish of any kind) I'm guessing the same oil was used to fry the fish and the nuggets.Never the less we all enjoyed ourselves great view overlooking the ocean while we ate our meals.Thank you to the staff who I interacted with,very friendly. read more

I should have sent it back but I was a ways into it (I'm a guy and just grab my food and chow down) when I realized it was sodden from way too much secret sauce drenched over the patty. Really it was a mess. Help is hard to get but I counted three guys in the kitchen. I hope the manager reads this and advises the help that more is not always better and sometimes is a lot worse. The fish and chips were good and so was the service. I'll certainly watch out next time and order the secret sauce on the side. read more

The food is quite tasty, serving size small, VERY expensive! $15 for a small mason jar serving of wine. They must be advertising heavily, as the restaurant is usually full and customers are not locals. Reservations recommended, it's not a drop in place! i came for dinner a couple of nights ago and everything was just okay. the clam chowder was very thin, the consistency of water pretty much, which is fine if you like that but i prefer mine thicker. some of the workers also make it seem like asking for extra things is an inconvenience which made me uncomfortable. you cannot beat the views though, it looks out right onto the beach and is gorgeous at any hour of the day. would i recommend it? yes because it's the only restaurant in the area and the views are in-comparable, but i would just skip the clam chowder. read more

The atmosphere is very nice with a beautiful view of the ocean. However, the food not so much. My husband had the clam chowder, it was watery and small for 16.00. I had the cabbage salad which was good and priced correctly. My son had the burger and fries, he said not great but fries very good! The tap water smelled terrible. I have been to Costal Kitchen at least 4 times in the last year. I really want to love this place as the ambience is very cool. Overall, the food and the service is a disappointing and here is why! August 26, 2023 place closes at 7pm, showed up at 6:40 pm after traveling to Dillon Bech. Went to the host stand to order and was told, oh sorry we just closed the kitchen as we have a large party of 8 people that just showed up? What? Seriously. August 28 went for lunch at 1 pm, told, it will be an hour for your food once you order! What?? Ordered anyway. Both chicken sandwiches $20 each with salads, fries are an upgrade, had super soggy buns. Disappointment. August 11, 2023, ordered two fish and chips, )$21 per order) took 40 mins to get them and the fish looked dark. Not used to dark fish, I thought it should be more like white fish! Disappointed. I'm okay with paying a bit more as this is a bit of a remote beautiful location, but the inconsistency of the food and service is not what should be expected. Lastly, call to be sure they are open, if have also seen where they don't open at all on days they are scheduled to be open. That is all! read more

Wow ... Chef Jennifer McMurry ... Dillon Beach Coastal Kitchen ... it's true ... she makes food as beautiful as the view! She was recently featured in both the Press Democrat & Sonoma Magazine. Can't say enough about her culinary expertise. Every single bite is exquisite. Her attention to detail and ability to make every morsel mouth watering is remarkable. We started with her fresh peach corn salsa and chips. Chips were house made, light, yummy and paired with the peach corn salsa that had a jalapeño sauvignon blanc vinaigrette. Need I say more? Incredible! My local bacon, mozzarella, fresh peach sandwich on house made focaccia was beyond dreamy. The clam chowder was equally fantastic. With no room left we still managed to devour an apricot galette with Double 8 Dairy vanilla soft serve. What I love about Jennifer's food is her passion for finding great local products and creating mouth watering gastronomic experiences. Definitely worth a trip to our coast. Had lunch there yesterday with my family. There were 6 of us so our order covered most of their limited menu offering. We all were more than a little surprised with the quality and creativity of the food. If your taste tends towards the typical diner this might not be your place but if you like to experiment and are open to new food offerings it is spot on. Everything looked and tasted fresh and was locally sourced. Some of our order included Clam chowder in fennel based sauce, mussel with arugula and onions, falafels and caesar salad all were excellent. Even the Arnold palmers were great. Outstanding dinner on our last night at Dillon Beach. Great service even with only 2 servers. My husband and shared our dinners, both SO GOOD! One was the halibut with sunflower seed pesto and delicious veggies - very unique...one was a Japanese herb used in sushi - it was distinctive...wanted more! The other was a Mediterranean plate with egg plant and much more Veggies .. baba gonosh (spelling) ... like hummus but much much better ... and oh the warm naan! I thought the pricing was reasonable for such top notch dinners! And of course, the view! We loved that the assistant chef served our starter (pickled veggies ... ) - he even brought us more pickled items - describing them as "like a butter pickle". Definitely a must for lunch or dinner! I love the makeover, and the food was delicious, but I agree with the previous comments that the menu is WAY too limited and pretty pricey. There should be fish (the night we were there they offered kids fish and chips, why not on the adult menu?) and a burger...I get that the new owners are trying to draw a more upscale clientele, but even the most swanky restaurants in the city offer a burger. I really want them to succeed, but I also want this to remain a place where families like to go. read more

We had the cod fritters, caeser with fried chicken on it, and the ricotta toast, two beers, and soft serve for our 2 year old.
