The Mac and the chicken were the standouts, but the sweet potatoes were sooo yummy almost like a dessert. Just taking a point off because the carrots were a little too seasoned with rosemary or thyme or one of those. But still good. This is one of the best fast casual places we've been too. Felt like the food was fresh, (especially the colder stuff like the salad) but the carrots/meat balls were not as a warm as should be. I had an amazing lunch today from Dig Inn. Another in the long line of "assemble-to-order" style quick lunches, you pick a base, some add-ins and a protein. Easy enough. On a weekday, the place was PACKED and the queue extended through the restaurant and to the entrance. Maybe 40 people but it did look like it was moving with regularity. There are menus to pick up and study as you proceed through the queue so that you're hopefully prepared when you get to the start of the foods. And they have a nice bucket to drop them in to be reused. Easy! I chose a base of greens, the broiled chicken, sauteed asparagus and the broiled cucumbers. Topped with a vinaigrette dressing and a little bit of sriracha, it was awesome. Delicious, loaded with flavor and very filling. So happy Dig Inn opened a location Downtown because I never made my way to Back Bay to try it's first location. Got a brown rice bowl with grilled organic tofu, sauteed broccoli with lemon, red potato with string beans, and house-made sriracha and garlic aioli sauces. It was more than enough to fill me and the garlic aioli was really good - but if anything less of an aioli and more of a garlic hummus texture with the taste of a garlic sauce that is typical to what you get from other Mediterranean restaurants. 1 protein + 1 base + 2 sides + sauces = $10.50 - that's a steal to me in terms of taste, quality, and healthiness. Dig inn is by far one of my favorite quick dinner type of places. The ability to build a bowl that has your base of choice along with sides and protein in my opinion makes it better than any other places where the grain bowl comes mixed with all of your ingredients. There's a wide selection of deliciously cooked veggies served both hot and cold. Only drawback of this location is that there is limited seating, compared to similar stores in the area. I have to say that I absolutely LOVE that this is a "fast food" option in the city, and I do plan on coming back sometime very soon. When we walked in I was excited to see actual silverware, and glasses neatly situated on a shelf, as well as trash and recycle cans that were labeled and tidy. I ordered the Farrow with butternut squash, buffalo potato salad, candy striped beets, half an avocado, and grilled tofu. The grilled tofu, may be a new addiction to be honest, and it reheats well. The avocado was perfectly ripe, and the flavor was probably at it's peak. The potato salad was made with golden fingerling potatoes, with just the right amount of spice, though I'd have liked a bit more sauce. Beets in general are a favorite, and I loved this candy stripe version as well. I'd never had farrow before, and it was wonderful! This is the greatest and best place in the world. Since first discovering Dig Inn at this location, I have literally returned here on most days. I must have went six months straight at first! I honestly don't believe you will ever get tired of the food here. Simply observing the crew here takes away from the loneliness of my own life. You pick a base (greens, farro, or rice), two market sides, and a protein, and the price is $9-12 depending on which protein you get. This visit I got the farm greens with mint (which was a mix of endive, spinach, kale, etc) as the base, roasted sweet potatoes, blistered shisito peppers, and blackened chicken thighs. Also the staff working behind the counter were able to answer me off the top of their heads whether certain items had garlic or onion or not, which was appreciated and impressive. Today I got a quinoa bowl with lightly sautéed broccoli and lemon, fresh radishes, and wild salmon. It tasted just as fresh and healthy as something I make for myself (but better of course), except when I make it it takes an hourlong trip to the grocery store and another hour of cooking and cleaning.
