And that's the end of the story... https://www.boston.com/food/restaurants/2026/07/28/boloco-closing/ The local chain Boloco closed 9/25/2026 after almost 30 years - the 50 Congress Street location was the last one standing and I'm going to miss it. It was my favorite of the Chipotle style fast casual restaurants in the area. I liked their carnitas, and that they had a good variety of vegetables, namely the fajita veggies, broccoli, carrots, caramelized onions, tomatoes (in the salsa), and corn (in the salsa). It felt like a healthy yet tasty option. I made sure to stop by their final week for a last hurrah. read more

First time back at Boloco in six years (just moved back to MA from the West Coast) and it tastes just as good as I remembered!!!! This was my favorite place to eat in college (RIP Wellesley Boloco location) and I've missed it so much. So glad that this location is still open! Thank you, Boloco! read more

Amazing burrito bar today at my office. I highly recommend their catering. We did chicken and steak. You get veggies, beans, lettuce, corn, hot sauce... all the fixings. It was a huge hit! I also love to build my own bowl here. The ingredients are fresh and delicious. My favorite base is farro and not too many restaurants offer it. If you love a little spice to your sauce, top it off with Loco Sauce! read more

Quick sandwich place specializing in wraps (Burritos) - I think in general they are okay but nothing special. Still they can put together a mean cater for lunch. I think the ingredients are a bit better than you might get from one of the larger chains. In general service is good - you can also order online which is a nice option, especially if you're catering and you have picky eaters. The basic (at $11 each) includes a choice of burritos (w/ choice of protein and/or vegetables in your choice of tortillas - wheat or flower), chips & salsa, and a choice of dessert or drinks. Summer Burrito, Bangkok Thai Burrito, Cajun Burrito, Classic Mexican Burrito, Buffalo Burrito, Teriyaki Burrito or Tikka Masala Burrito - you can also order an assortment so you don't have to pick and they put what they feel like into the order. Did I mention that they had chocolate chip cookies? read more

When working in the city I am looking for good tasty food that is convenient! I didn't realize this place was so close. After looking over their menu online i chose the street corn bowl which featured farro as the grain. I added steak and guacamole to the dish. the heat from their magic sauce is yummy but not over powering! Farro was cooked well. Steak had nice char but not over done! Good bite size pieces so i didn't need a knife. a lil smattering of tortilla chips added a nice textural crunch. Price wasn't bad either. No wait when you order online. I will be back! read more

The food is delicious. The app is easy/ flawless (even for technically challenged me!) But what's most impressive at this location is the customer service. They are extremely friendly, and always appear to be working hard to keep customer wait to a minimum. And most recently (first time it happened), they got my order wrong. Not only did they give me a complete refund, but they also gave me a coupon for a free order on my next visit! Unparalleled customer service ... that would be a pipe dream at any other restaurant! I highly recommend this place for all reasons noted above. read more

It's a great place for a quick lunch, but the person who rolls the burritos is AWFUL. They're in such a hurry to get you through the line that the slap your burrito together, barely roll it properly, and it falls apart while you are eating it. So annoying. read more

great service, great food, and a great atmosphere. They are both time and cost efficient. I work in the area and it is my Friday ritual!

I just wanted to drop in here and give some props to the staff at this particular location. They have to be the most pleasant group of people in the city. You honestly forget that you're in a chain restaurant for a moment while you're in there because of the smiling faces behind the counter. They're fast, efficient, and so damn welcoming. I really love coming here for lunch. I like the food too, but that's almost beside the point. read more

Never been for lunch, so I can't give 5 stars. This is my go to spot for breakfast on the way to the office. Awesome breakfast burritos and bowls in the financial district. Like all Bolocos, very good. But super crowded at lunch-- use the automated thingies or order online to skip the line. The plus of the automated thingies is that you can specialize your order pretty nicely -- add cilantro, use low-fat this, extra guac, etc. It allows you to see what your options are and what costs extra and what is included. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE AND LOVE THE STAFF!!!! ESPECIALLY TOM!!!! HE'S AWESOME! What can I say about this place....well all of their food is great. I'm trying to try all of the burritos on the menu. The one thing about this place is you can custom order your burrito (which I do) and add or take off things or just GO LOCO and create your own creation. The lines are very long so if you go around lunch time I would advise to go before noon or after 12:30. Then you should be okay they get you in and they get you out lickety split!!! So come here if you are a fan of Chipotle....this is a pretty good contender! P.S. To the guy who complained about the nutritional value.....um you can make a nutritional meal out of it. OR don't be a pig and order the mini size you dipwad!!!! And they do have a healthy option it's called the house balsamic which is a veggie salad! You don't have to add meat and you can add other things. P.P.S. If you are on Weight Watchers you can go to their nutritional calculator on their website and custom make your burrito and know what the Points value of the burrito is! read more

I ordered a chicken burrito. The flavor was not there even with all the toppings. The veggies were mushy and soft. The chicken seem stale like it was over cooked or a few day's old. I gotta add a 5th star for customer service that is just amazeballz. There were two occasions where my burrito was made incorrectly and a follow up email to the manager resulted in a couple free burritos for myself and a catered lunch for 10 in my office! WHAT?! In no way was I expecting any sort of freebie - just wanted to note the mistakes to the manager for her knowledge...I used to work in food service so I know it's always nice for managers to know what goes on with the front line. The previous four stars for great burritos and the 5th for their store manager Nadia! She went above and beyond. Even personally shaking my hand and apologizing again when I went to go pick up the lunch for my office. I guess I can be bought with free burritos. Jk jk - but I do fall in love quite easily with those who feed me. NOM NOM NOM read more

I had maybe twelve minutes to eat lunch, and I wanted to feed myself all the way to the top so I wanted burrito. Hi Boloco that is not far away. I paid $7 for the spiciest burrito they had, something about mangoes and habanero. By the time I walked down the line, pointed at the steak I wanted to be inside me, and sniffed delicious smells, there was a burrito in my hand. I liked that so much. My burrito was very tasty in the meat department (+), it was not spicy (-), light in the sauce department (-), and had rice in it (-). I didn't have time to mess around, so I got it how it comes, but next time (I will certainly be going back) I will say no rice. Seriously, that space could be filled with beans just as cheaply and my smile would be wider, and covered in bean casings! Picture it... awesome! I'm not saying it wasn't good though, because despite my being picky it was very tasty. All the signage had a "hey dude, man" sort of cutesy corporate marketing feel that was kind of fun, and actually useful in figuring out how to order. Also, they use the biodegradable tableware, so that's a nice thing. read more

Boloco is a stroke of deliberate genius. Just when I was losing hope that Boston could create a decent burrito, Boloco swoops in and saves the day like some sort of superhero covered in foil! There is usually a line (it moves fast, don't stress out), but it gives your a minute or two to look at the menu. I didn't want any of the pre-created burritos on the menu, as they all looked too fussy for a girl who should probably wear a bib while eating anything with sauce. I went for the make your own burrito route. Boy oh boy am I glad I did! Things I love about Boloco: 1. WHEAT TORTILLAS! Wooooooo hoooooo! my conversation with the ultra-friendly cashier went a little something like this, Cashier "Would you like a white or wheat tortilla?" Can-D "WHAT?! OMG! You have wheat tortillas!?! You're my hero!" Cashier, "erm... so you'd like a wheat tortilla?" 2. Brown rice. The conversation about brown rice was eerily similar to the conversation about wheat tortillas. 3. Different sized burritos! Woo! I'm always starving at lunch, and a fat kid, so I get the biggest one, but I like that I have the option to go a different direction. 4. Attractive, professional men eat lunch here. Okay, I know this has nothing to do with food, but what could POSSIBLY make your meal better than a little eye candy? Things I don't love about Boloco, but secretly don't care because the food is still delicious: 1. The salsa is not NEARLY spicy enough. Granted, I am the kind of gal who likes to feel like her lips are burning off, but I would give the 'hottest' habanero salsa a medium rating. At best. 2. There is no chipotle Tabasco (mix it with regular tabasco, it's amazing). Don't worry in about 2 seconds I was over it. Dearest Boloco, Please open up a branch closer to my office so I can eat myself into oblivion and weigh 900 lbs. by the end of the year. Kisses, Can-D read more

Where else in downtown Boston can you get a filling lunch for 5 bucks? The variety is good, and you are able to have it your way. Boloco is a great time. They have great smoothies and wraps at a decent price. Since this is a chain I'll keep it simple. Some of my favorite items are: Jimmy Carter Smoothie (peanut butter) Nutella Smoothie Summer Burrito Buffalo Wrap read more

I actually don't like the burritos here that much; too many early experiences ordering food with the vague impression it would be sort of Mexican-ish and being sourly disappointed. I warmed to Boloco when I figured out that you aren't supposed to get anything Mexican-ish. Just enjoy an outlandish wrap (I usually get buffalo chicken with extras), and perhaps order a somewhat pricey but excellent milkshake. Even though I think Boloco is just ok foodwise, I go there frequently because they're fast and have a good rewards program. As for speed, you can order online and pick up your food even at the height of the lunch rush. Their site always says that the order will be ready in 15 minutes, but I find it's always much faster than that. Only once have I beaten them to the counter from my 19th floor office--and that one time, they were just wrapping it up. The only negatives to ordering online is that you can't pay with LevelUp--oh, and you might feel a little sheepish demanding your burrito when tons of people are standing in line. You can't get a faster lunch at peak rush. As for the rewards, Boloco has their own reward card and further allows you to pay with LevelUp. The Boloco card give you a burrito every $50, and LevelUp pays the standard 10% ($10/$100). A large burrito has a rack price of $7.75, but the post-rewards effective approaches just over $6 in the long run, which is pretty good. Moreover, Boloco occasionally runs promotions for additional "freebies." For example, if you buy a burrito tomorrow and save your receipt, you can get another free next week. So in conclusion, Boloco's not my favorite lunch, but I'm a sucker for their speed and promotions. read more

The main problem I have with this place is the size of the burrito. I feel like I can eat two super without a problem. So the price I'm paying for and what I'm eating is the biggest rip of all. The food is good and the people are nice. I do enjoy the streak over the chicken too, which is odd because I usually stick with chicken burrito at every other place. All in all not bad. A good burrito just not enough for the price you pay. read more

The five stars isn't for the food (although the burritos are quite good and I loves me a Nutella milkshake), they're for the customer service. I had a bit of an issue from awhile back, and sent them a quick note via the "contact us" link on their website. Surprisingly, they got back to me...and fast, solving the problem and then some! Boloco is a local company, and they really do care about customer feedback. I've also seen them at many an event in Boston, giving out free burritos. So instead of writing them a poor review after a mishap or incorrect order or such, send them a note first (or Twitter, i suppose, although I find that quite impersonal) and let them know. Trust me, they want to hear about it. And that, my friends, gets them five stars in my book, any day of the week. Viva la Nutella milkshake and free birthday burritos! read more

The smoothies are delicious here. I recommend the Soy Smoothie - they are the real thing, not those high calorie/fake ingredient smoothies you get at ice cream places. Always fresh. I also like the Summer burrito or Summer bowl - I usually do vegetarian because dark meat chicken freaks me out and I tried the steak once and it was really chewy. Overall, a good place - affordable and clean. read more

Boloco has been a favorite lunch (and occasionally dinner) spot of mine since it changed it's name from "The Wrap." Something to keep in mind, is that this place really isn't Mexican-- and it isn't meant to be. Boloco stands for "Boston Local Company." If you want Mexican, go to Anna's, Boca Grande, Felipe's, or Chipotle (Qdoba if you're really stuck). Boloco has The Classic, which is Mexican style, but again, they are not meant to be a Mexican place. Mexican influenced might be the category. Boloco is a place for people who love burritos, but may want some more variety, hence their "inspired burritos" slogan. Their meat is of the highest quality, and as with all of their ingredients, it's always freshly prepared. I've tried most of their burritos, and The Teriyaki is a favorite of mine. It is prepared with carrots, broccoli, caramelized onions and brown rice on a whole wheat tortilla drizzled with their tasty teriyaki sauce. The portions are very generous. A "regular" is only $5 and is plenty of food for an average lunch. The large is only a dollar-and-change more, and is substantially larger. Plus, they offer freshly baked cookies for only 99 (note: they are usually a crunchy, so if you like chewy cookies, look elsewhere-- still, these are tasty and fresh). Overall, I highly recommend Boloco. read more

Color me impressed, Boloco. I know we haven't always been the closest of friends (see: Boston Ave. Boloco and Tamar's vitriolic railings against), but you have to respect the well-oiled, extremely customer-service-oriented lunchtime machine that churns these puppies out day after day. It's nice to see corporate cogs rock their groove, so to speak. Bein' all corporate and such. Capitalism and mass production, refined and sweetly intertwined. BUT WAIT! I approached the menu board today, desperately trying to beat back the non-threatening yet totally disapproving words of Michael Pollen--whose book I'd finished just that morning--warning me of the perils of such mass fast food production, when I noticed on the menu board that the chicken is guaranteed hormone-free and grass-fed. Say WHAT, Boloco? Seriously? Sure, they've just promoted their formerly large burrito to "original" and demoted the normal-sized to "small" (an anti-Pollenian move if ever there was), but Rome wasn't built in a day. Carry on, Bolocs, and alleviate yuppie guilt for all! read more

Boloco has always been a very consistent go-to place for lunch for me, and the only time I've ever been disappointed was one time when the carnitas was SUPER fatty. But, after that, I discovered that the grilled chicken (dark meat) is really tasty, so that has been my staple meat since then! I love the caesar burritos with chicken or steak, and the golocos are always great so you can pick what you want! I've tried their online ordering as well where you can bypass the line (even with more complicated goloco orders), and it's always correct. Highly recommend for a quick lunch downtown! read more
