Comforting lunch... After much errands and adulting my day started quite early as I set to get things done before the year ends and recycling was no different with C M Recycling at Sand Island was a must stop as well and feeling good I glanced across and wit today being so rainy and gloomy what better than some pho and knowing that Diem 99 Cafe was here right across the street and see that they did have some parking right in front made it an easy choice without going out of my way. With an inclusive price of $13.35 that's a deal that my recycling alone could easily afford and loved how nice and clean it was inside along with lots of tables for me to enjoy my pho which was veggie and though they did have veggie broth as well I opted for the beef broth. What I do love is that they do serve it on a bowl versus eating out of a take out container but says that any leftovers are gladly packed to go for me was a very nice gesture what I did like is I didn't receive the garden of sides that I personally barely used and just hate to waste but veggies included broccoli, carrots and Napa cabbage toooed with white and green onions with crispy fried onins. The broth was just comforting and gave me the much needed energy, staff is so friendly fast and efficient as the daughter runs the front and dad working in the kitchen with the phone constantly ringing for takeout orders I can see why as it's such a wonderful family owned and run local biz. Thank you!

Stuffed tofu combo ($15.75). Stuffed tofu was cold and the shrimps were not that fresh.

Vietnamese food stall at the Pearlridge food court. To us it was a better option compared to other fast food places there. And the menu looked exciting too. What caught our eyes was the stuffed tofu combo. And come with 2 summer rolls? Less than $16? Sure let's give it a try! So the noodles and the salad were ok. The stuffed tofu were cold which was not what we expected and were not that tasty neither. The shrimps in the summer tolls just didn't taste like shrimps. They had a weird texture. I thought I was eating imitation crab sticks. Maybe next time I will try something that's more foolproof, like pho.

"The time of the month" lead me here .. and HOLY COWWWW ! I was in heaven! I was really craving spring rolls specifically the crunchy ones not the summer rolls with shrimp and it lead me here to Diem 99 Cafe! I always heard great things about their "Super Roll" which is basically a little spring roll wrapped like a summer roll type of filling with the rice paper wrapper and lettuce .. basically like a sushi roll almost is how they do it ..the whole shabang! No one else does these specialty rolls as far as I'm aware. It comes with fish sauce and sweet and sour sauce. I think it's perfect because the despite the rice paper , lettuce and other filling , the spring roll remains in tact and it doesn't fall apart altogether and it tastes delicious and crispy/crunchy! I love that it comes in a dozen in a container and the price is well worth it for the quantity. I can't really speak much on service or ambiance since I had it delivered BUT This is definitely the type of snack or meal you should eat within the day BUT if you end up with leftovers , and happen to have an air fryer like me, it'll taste just as fresh the next day! I would definitely order these again and visit the actual shop in the future.

BBQ Pork Banh Mi, no cilantro, no cucumber. Fabulous!

The banh mi was excellent. The baguette was so soft and the meat was well seasoned. Picked daikon and carrot is fresh and crunchy. Definitely a must try.

I actually thought I was going into Penny's. I was so hungry, I didn't even look at the sign! Friendly hello, as I looked over the menu. Me: So much to choose from, I can't decide. What do you recommend? She: The lemon grass chicken combo is popular. Me: Then that's what I'll have. There's a small cozy dining room, and I ate it there. They have a number of soft drinks to choose from. She brought out my meal and handed me an orange pineapple Hawaiian Sun. There were three sauces: fish sauce, rice wine vinegar, and sweet chili pepper. I poured the fish sauce over the vermicelli, shrimp and vegetables. The chicken was delicious! Just the right hint of lemon grass and tender. Everything worked well together, and I dipped my egg roll into the sweet chili. This was probably the healthiest meal I've had all week, especially the vegetables. I also liked the basil leaves with the salad. Definitely worth coming to! This was a happy and delicious mistake! Mahalo Diem!

Super roll!!! Coworker raves about it and it was yummy! Spring roll in summer roll! The wrapper was delicious and warm!

99 Diem Cafe used to be locate in the Ranch/ Moanalua 99. They now have two locations! The Sand Island location is in the former spot of Sand Island Chop Suey next to Subway and another location at Pearlridge Shopping Center. I've tried their sandwiches and oxtail soup at the precious location, but It wasn't until after I've tried the super roll at this location, I fell in love with the rolls and kept ordering it! They have a lot variety of selection on the menu but I really like their Super rolls! The chicken spring roll was in the summer roll all sliced like a maki sushi. The wrapper was so soft and even if the spring rolls were fried, it felt like I'm eating something healthy wrapped around with vermicelli noodles, possibly basil and rice wrapper on the outside! So yummy with the fish sauce or hot sauce for some. I could eat all twelve super rolls! I managed to save some for Mom. No other restaurants seemed to have this special so when I have the chance, I would stop by to get some!!! It' was something different and so good! I wanted to try other items on the menu but I keep getting the Super rolls!! Try it, I know you will like it too!

Located at Sand island just off the Mauka bound at the Diamond head side of Sand Island access road, here is this little shop with a few tables inside, I want a Vietnamese sandwich and I call to placed my order, friendly staff, sandwich ready I just 5 to 10 minutes. The sandwich is well packaged and they accept credit card payment even for just a sandwich. There are a lot of Vietnamese restaurants in the area but lot of them do not offer sandwiches any more. There is not much parking in front of the restaurant so you may have to wait for the parking.

Love how this place is close to work! I went to their new Sand Island location. They used to be in the 99 Ranch building. I got their lemongrass chicken banh mi and their bbq pork and spring rolls vermicilli noodles. Everything is delish here! Don't forget to try their taro tapioca dessert too!

As they greeted me with a smile I excitedly questioned them about the vegetables on this sandwich. I was halfway through my sandwich when I remembered to take pictures. It was so good and flavorful. Highly recommend if you don't consume meat. Probably grab another before heading to the airport.

Trying a new food place, Diem 99 Cafe--Pearlridge Food Court Phase II. Whammoo! --for sure a return visit is warranted! I tried s Bahn Mi Barbecued Chicken sandwich. Deliciously different from other chicken sandwiches I've tried. You're digitally signaled when your order is ready for pickup. Phase II food court, brightly lit, offer a variety of good options. Lots of booths for comfortable visiting, setups for large group or counter seating. This place was busy! I can't wait to return to try other menu items!

I've been coming here since they were in the old 99 Ranch. I believe the Super Roll is new to their menu because I don't remember them having this at their old location. It's basically a spring roll wrapped in a summer roll. Genius! I highly recommend it if you're a fan of spring rolls. I also recommend their lemon grass Banh Mi. Delicious. The service is always good each time as well. I don't care much for the new location, but I imagine it's a great spot for business, especially with all the big truckers going back and forth in the area.

Yay for reopening after their closing at Ranch\Moanalua 99! My faves are their super rolls and lemon grass bánh mi!

    Menu as of 2023-02-03

Located next to the Subway on Sand Islnd Access Road. Parking can get tricky at times especially during the lunch hours. If you're not lucky you get a big truck parked right in front d your parked car and you end up waiting till they come back and move. Otherwise, I believe this is the same Diem Cafe from 99 Ranch. The restaurant is clean and has a nice lit atmosphere. Also they have indoor dining so that's a plus if you wanna eat in. Their menu is quite extensive. Prices are reasonable. Plates are portioned well and you do get full! I'm glad theirs a Bahn Mi joint close to work now.

I heard they will keep this space for special events. The restaurant is quite busy and I'm glad we had reservations. Good thing I was there prior to lunch hour opening, otherwise we may lose our reservations since the person who made reservations tends to be habitual in arriving late. We dined in May, but it's been awhile since I first dined here. I preferred dining in Chinatown during lunch time than at dinner. Our waiter was really nice and helpful. I forgot his name, but I remembered that his eyeglasses that he wore was cool/funny, since the frames for each eye didn't match the other eye! lol. Funny it wasn't me who first noticed it. One was square frame and the other was a round frame! The restaurant doesn't do anything special for birthdays except may write Happy Birthday in chocolate on the dessert plate that you purchase for the birthday person. Their desserts are unique and refreshing. I think there are some rotating desserts /flavors like their seasonal menu for their main menu. I guess you can always keep coming back without being bored of the menu! I was bummed to see a previous dish posted of a pasta that I wanted to try that wasn't on the current spring seasonal menu! When we dined for brunch over the weekend, I was able to get the Hainan chicken with the crispy roast pork combo. It was very filling , tasty and satisfying. I do love ginger sauce on the cold ginger chicken but sometimes the chicken is just okay. This Hainan chicken was really good and the chicken was really moist! I thought it was the best I've tried! It was good that I wanted to takeout one last time in August before they moved! No more the 50/50 combo with the crispy roast pork on the lunch menu during the weekday. It was on the spring menu. Of course it's best to eat it in the restaurant than for take out. Bathroom is a must for me when dining out and they had only one shared bathroom for everyone! There was a guy who tried to make several attempts but wasn't successful, since there was always someone in the restroom. I'm glad the waiter told me there was a bigger separate bathroom with several stalls for men and ladies upstairs. You go straight through the kitchen to catch the elevator and to another kitchen /storage area! Thank Goodness! Best wishes at your new location. You offer yummy and tasty food!

Additionally, the staff seemed to forget I was sitting/waiting for my food. My suspicion is that the online ordering service isn't actively monitored and our order wasn't started until I actually showed up to the restaurant to pick up our food at the designated time. The food was okay for us. I'm a big Banh Mi fan and was looking forward to eating their Combination Banh Mi, but unfortunately the Banh Mi seemed a little rushed in preparation and lacked flavor. My husband on the other hand, ordered their Combination Pho and it absolutely did not disappoint. Although their Banh Mi was not as delicious and flavorful as I expected, their Pho was the exact opposite of that. They give you a generous amount of broth and their portions of greens was beyond enough (maybe a little bit too much for one serving). The last food item to talk about are their Spring Rolls. It wasn't anything too special compared to your usual Spring Rolls, but I will say that their dipping sauce and everything else that comes with it (rice noodles, cucumbers, cabbage, carrots) made it so that you could easily make it a meal vice an appetizer. If you're looking for a cozy place to have dinner, their space was a bit crowded but if you're okay with then this place is good. Just be warned that their prices are a little bit on the higher side in my opinion and be prepared for long wait times to receive your order.
