On Friday, February 27, 2026 I was nearing Dick's Sporting Goods Store when an employee coming to work politely greeted me as I walked to the entrance; his name was Henri. I made my way to the register area and asked another employee if he could assist me by selecting some golf balls for my husband as I am recovering from a knee replacement. He not only happily retrieved them but checked with the department golf "pro" who advised him of the best ones ~ he was correct The friendly employee's name was Carlos. Wife and I came in so the wife could get a few sports bras. She went to try them on and no one was at the fitting rooms to let her in. Pushed button and waited. Nothing. Went to customer service. Told her to push the button. Told them we did and no one showed up. They told us that they would call someone to come over and let us in. After five more minutes of waiting, still no one showed up. So they lost our business. This store used to be really good but the customer service has really fallen off. read more

Hannah deserves a 5-star review. She was very positive and demonstrated patience as we tried on different brands of shoes to find the perfect pair. She pulled at least 10 pairs of shoes out for us to try on. She also assisted us with an online order for those not in stock. Her customer service was wonderful and appreciated. I'd give the overall store a 3.5-star review. It could use a bit more organization. In the cup area all sizes and colors were mixed. There was damage to some of the products. I had to dig to the very back of the shelf to find a cup without damage to the cup or straw in the color I wanted. read more

Went in today to buy fishing supplies and fishing licenses for both of us. The clerk at the front register was very polite. However, he told us the printer was not working so we could not purchase the licenses. We live less than a mile from the store. So we asked when we could return. He said he did not know when we should return. If he could have given us an idea such as one , two, or three days we would have returned then. So we have to take our business elsewhere. After parking my vehicle I was walking toward the entrance of the store to buy some shoes. As I'm walking I'm talking with my wife not necessarily paying attention to sharp objects sticking out of the asphalt. I tripped on a cut sign with sharp metal edges slicing my left foot. It was easy to do since I was wearing flip flops. I brought it to the attention of the assistant manager Anna but was told there's nothing she can do about it that it was the landlords responsibility. I wasn't looking for anything other for them to correct the issue so it doesn't happen to anyone else. I suggested putting a bucket over it for the time being but was told they were not allowed to. Rang the bell for help.... 2 ladies came and 1 came from opposite side of store and other was working in the shoes area... 1 from opposite side was helpful while 1 working in the actual shoes Dept looked annoyed and bothered by my help.... they didn't have the size in stock and didn't mention anything about getting the right size until I had to ask if I can order online...Annoyed girl said "ya you can order it online." And walked away... Went to shop for shin guards and took a while since there was limited availability and was a mess of scatter soccer gear everywhere and mismatch sizes... got 2 boxes and went to go pay... Didn't think anything of it until I read the reviews on here, but cashier opened up the box of shin guards and didn't even make sure if it was the correct matching size, but to check if I "stuffed an extra set of shin guards" in each of the 2 boxes I got..... $120 I spent for shin guards and socks only and drove to Big 5 and spent $200 for shoes they had in stock and some cheaper shin guards as I'll return the ones I bought at diks back.... Expensive store. Horrible staff, no help, and cheaper to order online and have it delivered.... my recommendation, shop at BIG 5 SPORTING GOODS! Your final bill will be half the cost and they'll ship shoes from other stores to get your right size free of charge ! read more

This is the most horribly cultured store, the Manager leads with such distrust and made me personally feel like I was doing something wrong because her vibe was so negative and distrustful. I am from the East Bay Area and I've never been followed and watched before in my life, I felt so singled out and judged, wow. I Wasn't yet at my best cuz everyone knows that after my Medical battle it takes a very long time to begin the process of the road back to recovery. But being treated like I was at Dicks in Turlock, Ca I felt so much weaker and alone. The MGR asked me 15 mins after arriving if she could begin ringing me up!? I thought they might've been almost closing but nope, And when I asked to try a couple things on the girl literally counted 5 items and took my cart?? I wasn't even allowed to exchange items?? I know I may have seemed strange coming straight from chemo to the store, but I really wanted to look nice for my birthday pool bash next weekend, over a hundred people are coming and I was feeling so insecure from my past two surgeries and live in fear of being in a Bathing suit for the first time,so when I asked the sales girl for help to decide and she treated me like I was a disgusting person, it gave me such a Sense of shame for just being sick and they all Knew it. Trust me I've been struggling with canceling my party, so I just left the store and as I'm waking towards the door the MGR is literally blocking my path with a look os such disgust, it broke me. I cried almost the whole night And I'm for sure canceling my birthday party until hopefully next year I won't look so badly and that's that. If you check your security cameras between 805, and about 830 to 845 my son and I were in there to purchase a Carhart hat and a yeti cooler or possibly the Hydro flask cooler but as we came to the door the taller girl at the first register closest to the door, because there were two girls working one was a shorter one. The shorter one was very professional, very friendly, and helped us out. The taller. One turned to us, did not walk us some welcome us into the store as she did the other people as they came in as I noticed after, and started looking at us and turning back to the customers and giggling and speaking about us even when we walked up to get some help, she turned her head and didn't want to help and the second girl the shorter one Actually asked me I help you and then the customers from the first taller girl went to walk back into the store and she says hi welcome in but did not say that to us. I'm not sure if this is a small case of racism or what but I wanna praise the short girl for helping us locate our Purchases and was very professional and was willing to give us a hand but another customer came up and she was willing to help. You can check all this out on your security cams and you'll see the interaction between both the people at the register at the time I would not recommend this place Because of that first girl alone I understand in this day and age of working with feelings because I'm not from that era that's for these new people working with feelings, but it's just professional and especially when you catch an African-American that comes into the store where a lot of people of my race Where this sports clothing as every day clothing, I don't because I wasn't raised that way, but I use it for sporting events and looking for a good winter hat. I don't appreciate the unprofessionalism the girl gave I did not approacher any kind of way I just sat and waited to see what the interaction was going to be. You really need to do some teambuilding and something with the public now remember Lincoln's security cams, and the shorter girl is the one I was super friendly and helped the taller one did not not liking it. I once went to buy a fishing reel and the guy that worked in that department ducked into the back area after he saw me approaching him. Forget about getting help in the shoe department. Horrible service from workers today. I called prior to put shoes on hold for me, saying they had them in hand and will place them on hold for me. I arrive to this store which is 30 minutes from where I live, and am immediately sent back to the shoe area to grab my shoes. I wait and wait and get no help until 10 minutes later a trainee worker comes up to me saying they have been looking for the shoe for 45 minutes, which is false because I had called 20 minutes prior, and if I could get another shoe. This shoe was the only shoe in stock that had my size and nothing was nearly close to my size other then this one they couldn't find. Another worker then comes up to me saying she could not find it in a rude tone, and I tell them if they could keep looking. They both walk back and I see them just chatting it up and not looking for the shoe. They come back out saying it cannot be found and offer me a 20% discount off any shoe. And before this, the trainee is cussing under her breath like this is something that's annoying her. I was receiving more and more rude comments and was overall feeling upset. She then comes up with the comment of how 3 people have tried coming to get the shoes and they couldn't find them. If you didn't have them why would you tell me on the phone call that you guys have them in hand and will place them on hold. Dicks please do better with your workers and who you hire. Tell them to also not give out false information to their customers. read more

I stopped by this location to get some advice on firearms. I'm not into guns, but trusted their help in the past. There are no firearms at this location anymore. (In rural California.) Fine, because I also needed the toilet, so the trip inside wasn't a waste. That is, until I found keypads on the toilets and none for actual customers. Another poster here described atrocious toilets. Well, problem solved. NO TOILETS. My prostate & kidneys can pound sand. Please, just be up front about it. That'll teach the vagrants (customers) from fowling up those employee restrooms. I am a long term customer of Dick's. But no more. I'm through. The service here is absolutely horrendous. I visited today to look for some shoes I have been wanting and when I get to the shoe section there was at least 5 other people waiting for assistance. After about 15 minutes with no assistance we went to look for help and were told that there should be 2 people back there and to just wait for them. We went back and still no help anywhere but there were more customers in need of assistance. After about 30 minutes, ONE worker appeared out of nowhere. I had asked for a specific shoe and was brought the wrong pair in the wrong box. By this time there were at least 10 other people in need of assistance and this is when the second worker decided to appear. After this we decided to just leave. This store is unorganized and not helpful. You are better off taking your business elsewhere, to pay the price they are asking and receiving the assistance we did is just not acceptable. read more

Visited the Turlock location today with my husband. We were shopping for a golf shirt. The selection was par, however the sizes in stock were minimal. My husband inquired about getting some assistance. There were four female employees working behind the counter and the willingness to help or assist was a clear 0 for 4. When 1 of the 4 finished up with a telephone call, my husband was informed that, "she can help you". He clearly stated that he was I need of a different size than what was available on the rack. The clerk scanned the tag to search for availability in other nearby locations. My husband stayed he needed either Large or XL. Upon scanning the tag the clerk stated that Modesto was showing 3 mediums. Again he stated he was in need of Large or XL. The clerk then stated that Modesto had 3 Large shirts. Again, he asked how about an XL. Clearly the clerk was not focused on the requests of the customer. The service provided by the 4 young female employees in the golf department was unacceptable. The employees were distracted on their phones or on the computer. We will not be retiring this location. read more

Employees are extremely rude and irritable. By far the worst Dicks Sporting Goods in the Central Valley - if not the worst sporting goods store hands down. Cashiers are extremely rude, condescending and have major attitude. Not to mention, everything in the store is cheap quality and way overpriced. Returning items are a DISASTER. I bought over $500 worth of clothing from them, but found out it was the wrong size. I tried to return it, but the store conveniently "lost" my receipt that was attached to my ScoreCard account. That just doesn't happen, and even if it did; it's the stores fault. Yet, they refused to give me a refund. After coming back the next day, they finally agreed to a measly $100 gift card. 1/5th of my original spending cost while I return literally all of the clothes! This store is a disgusting example of greed, poor training, and terrible management. Not only will you get terrible customer service from irritable, bitter teenagers working there - but the management will refuse to help you if you have an issue. Take my advice and do NOT go here. What started as a good experience buying a new driver turned into a very disappointing trip to Dicks. After purchasing the driver, we got to the car and realized we forgot club cover and adjusting tool. We went back in thinking it was a simple mistake. It turns out that they absolutely knew they were deceiving us and sold it without them because they couldn't find them in the back. An associate found a tool but, no cover. We wound up having to buy a cover to replace the one it was supposed to come with. On top of that, the girl that rang us out for the cover tried to lie and say they didn't know that they sold us the club in the first place without the items. They gave us 10% off the cover though.... Pro tip: Give the customer the $20 cover to keep them happy. This is the problem with big stores they don't care about the customer. read more

Turlock dicks took care of me when Modesto dicks wouldn't, I want to say thank you very much to kris and christy, I went to Modesto dicks and bought a expensive gt bike for my 12 year old, about 7-8 Days later the handle bars came completely apart as she was riding it, she had fallen and hurt her hand, I picked up the bike put it in the back of my truck and drove straight to Modesto dicks, I walk in and ask for management. Taller , thin, gentlemen with light skinned comes up and says he's the manager, I told him what had just happened with my daughter, he takes one look at the bike and says , yahh, your going to need to call the manufacturer, there's nothing I could do for you at this point, I was pretty stunned at that, he turned around and then walked off, and there I was, mortified by his words, I felt betrayed by dicks company, I walked out to my truck with the broken bike loaded it up and sat there for a min, I told myself I'm going to try the next local dicks to see if there's anyone who could help me, luckily I called Turlock dicks and christy answered, I told her about my situation and she invited me over to help me. She offered to help with a different bike, she even looked up bikes online for me on the dicks website, she really went above and beyond, you know when someone is truly trying to help you. Thank you christy for everything, I wish you luck. This place suffers from the disease of success. More often than not, the more successful a business gets and the more it expands, the worse the training and customer service. Look at Wal-Mart, Target or Staples. The employees are partially to blame when it comes to lack of product knowledge, but it's probably the companies fault because it's just too common a problem in those stores. But I digress... My experience at Dick's went like this. I walked in and wanted to purchase a North Face jacket set. One of the sets that has a water proof outer shell and a zip in liner. So, I headed to their North Face section. I found a jacket I liked, but it was 2 sizes too large. I found an employee and asked if she could check to see if they had my size. She told me that she didn't work in that department and she would find someone that did. After checking with 2 other employees, she could NOT find the person that was supposed to be in the Outerwear department, BUT one guy was willing to help me. So I explained to him that I like that jacket that was in my hand, but I need a smaller size. He proceeded to walk me back to the Outerwear department and look through each rack of jackets to find a smaller size. (Like I didn't already do that?) (Also, he looked through jackets that were completely different colors, styles and brands from the one I was holding!) After going through the entire department, he said, "I can't find one." I responded with, "Neither could I." After 3 seconds of staring at me, I asked, "So, do you think you could check and see if you have more?" I could see that he was about to say that he couldn't find any, so I spoke up again, "You know, in the back? In the stock room." Then it dawned on him what I was talking about. He told me that he needed to find someone else to check in the back. After waiting about 25 minutes for someone to come back and speak to me, I hunted the guy down and asked him if someone was checking and he said there was. He found the person checking as they restocked a shelf. She said that she never checked because he never gave her the product information. He just said to go look for a blue North Face jacket. The jacket I wanted wasn't even blue. I placed the jacket on the nearest rack and walked straight out of the store. I can't imagine why I would ever go back. read more

Waited ten more minutes for nice sales associate, who had zero knowledge of department, our questions or who "could" help. Finally a manager; I explained our disappointment and frustration. No reply...nothing. Ok, "could you please have someone install line on reel and we'll return this evening after you find your fishing "expert" is finished?" His reply; that'll be three dollars more. Hated my first experience visiting the store! Had to wait in line for a while and associates continued to let people walk up for help while ignoring I was there. I finally made it over to the new Dick's Sporting Goods. As you can see from the photos, this place is huge. The ceiling is over 2 stories high but the aisles are nice and bright. All the employees I encountered were very friendly. Today I just wanted to wander around, because there was so much to take in. If you like to hunt or fish, you are in paradise. Lots and lots of stuff for that here. But if you like to camp out, there are not as many choices and it's at the lower end of the quality spectrum, I saw Coleman and Eureka tents, but no Sierra Designs, North Face, or Mountain Hardwear. I did see a Marmot sleeping bag, but it was clear from the price that it was not a down bag. I didn't see any down bags for sale. If you are looking for footwear, you've come to the right place. There are shoes for every sport under the sun for sale, including soccer, running, basketball, golf. The only area with a significantly smaller selection are the hiking boots. I saw Merrell and Keen, but no Asolo or Salomon. Prices are on the high side, comparable to REI. I want to see what prices are like on Black Friday and the days leading up to Xmas. read more

Terrible customer service. Went looking for wrestling headgear, looked around the whole store and couldn't find it so I went on a hunt to find an employee which took just as long as my search for the product. Found an employee folding shirts and asked where to find what I was looking for and he waived me to a section and said probably over there". Didn't offer to help, didn't give any details, just got rid of me as fast as possible. Which I would have been ok with if he had even sent us in the right direction. After looking "probably over there" which was the camping section...obviously not where I'd find what I was looking for, I went and asked the same guy again if he had any specific direction. He gave the classic "I don't work in this section" and went to find someone else. Came back and told me maybe in the shoe section, but he didn't find them. So we went to the shoe section and found what we needed...finally. When we went to check-out the line was long so they called over some help and of course...our guy Arturo is the one who will check us out . He was just as unfriendly during this process as he was helping us find our product. After ringing us up he waited for me to insert my card but I had to ask him what my total was because he wasn't volunteering any info. I asked him if he was new because I haven't ever felt like such a nuisance asking for help in a store. I get it, retail can be hard but it takes nothing extra to be helpful. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to find THIS Turlock location. I live in Oakdale and have visited EVERY Golf shop in the valley. I was impressed with the wide selection and layout of this store. I'm a golfer and it seems it is harder and harder to find a good selection these days, so this is my favorite sporting goods store in the Central Valley! Yelp searches are such a time saver!
