To all the people complaining about the customer service and being rude, cry us a river! This is a firearm store and if you're trying to acquire a firearm in the state of California, be ready to jump through hoops. This place has some of the CHEAPEST prices in the Central Valley! Before buying a firearm do your homework. Learn everything you need to do before even entering a store like this. Know all the paperwork you will need to bring and testing you will need to take. You're not buying shoes! If you want someone to kiss your azz while purchasing a firearm, I'm sure there's plenty of other stores that will comply and fluff your buns, while charging you an additional 20%. If you want to window shop, they have a website showing you everything they have in stock. You can then watch reviews on YouTube about the firearms you have interest in. Walking in and having an employee show you a bunch of different firearms is wasting everyone's time. The shops and the buyers. The amount of paperwork and background checks to keep everything legal is a nightmare. Sometimes mistakes happen and you might have to wait extra time to receive your firearm. BIG DEAL! The new laws that have been placed over time has made purchasing a firearm extremely difficult. Make sure all your "T's are crossed and i's are dotted." I've been a long time customer 20+ years and yes had issues with time delays and inconveniences. Again this is a firearm store not a shoe store. Two months ago I went in for the first time and discussed trading in a Smith and Wesson 40 caliber shield, and was given a verbal offer of $300 of which I would turn around purchase a Sig P365. Unfortunately at the time they were out and instructed me to come back in a couple months and they would honor their Trade-in value. I went in today only to be told that they are heavily stocked in shield 9mm and 40 caliber and will not honor their previous commitment to trade in my firearm for the purchase of theirs. Instead they proceeded to offer me instructions on how to Sell my firearm on there marketplace which I have no interest since they reneged on their commitment. It is my personal opinion that you cannot trust any business or person who goes back on their word. Take that information for what it's worth. read more

I had a bad experience one time in Modesto at sierra arms, my name had came back undetermined I had already paid for a fee and they wanted to charge me a restocking fee too, because they did not want to go on with the sale even though my name did not come back denied, you the DOJ sometimes they be doing extra, and that's ok but with Alquist Arms even though DOJ made me wait an extra 30 days every thing was successful. I've been shopping at Alquist for years. The staff at this family owned business is genuine and honest. The pricing is by far the best in California and worth the drive from where I live. The store has an awesome website with a ton of variety. I'm on the website daily looking for new things that's are added to their inventory. I've recommended this business to all of my friends and family. I took a long pause from the hobby but I'm getting back into it. It's a great hobby to get into that helps individuals focus on discipline, obtaining education on the safe use of firearms, and developing a good sense of security. I recommend taking local firearm safety courses to learn best practices. We are fortunate enough to have some good courses/schools in the Central Valley. This is my favorite gun store that I have been to living in the Central Valley Area. I moved up to Sonora but I still make the trip out to see these guys. They have been awesome they are not like typical dicks in the gun stores they didnt act like they were too busy and I have only been there once when there was a long wait and line. I have purchased several firearms from them and my latest one they took the extra time to install sights I had purchased for the gun. I just put in a purchase for more ammo from them and I would like to get a shot gun eventually. Another thing I really like is they have one of the best online web stores where you can purchase things they will hold until you can get into the store. I like to shop online. They are constantly updating the website to reflect whats actually in the store in a real time manner and they have one of the best selections of weapons. I was looking for a cheap 22lr plinking pistol. When Alquist Arms posted a nickel Phoenix Hp22, I immediately contacted them to make arrangements to reserve the gun. The employee was courteous and took my order without any problems. Looks to me that I purchase my guns away from the bay area to find better deals. Without question, Alquist Arms is one of them. A numbered ticket upon entering is helpful. It defeats people cutting in line and gives employees good attention to customers. What I particularly like about Alquist Arms' employees is that every one of them, whether he is my contemporary, younger or older, treated me exactly the same. Too often I see in a gun store where an older employee in his high horse rain down on his subordinate customers. All mighty and all knowing, this older employee's knowledge is absolute. Quite the opposite at Alquist Arms. In fact, I had a great experience talking to their employees as we walk through the process of buying the gun. Top notch customer service. And did I mention great prices? I am from the bay area, travelling to Turlock to purchase a firearm speaks volumes about their great prices. Alquist in Turlock has horrible customer service treated my kids and I like a piece of poop on the bottom of their shoe I was in complete shock when we left. Needless to say we will not be going back or recommending them to anyone! I have family who regularly shop there and have bought guns from them but they won't be anymore. I purchased a rifle last month. On purchase date I was told that the scope would be mounted when I picked it up. On pickup date, the "owner" told me that they don't do that. Another employee said that they did. The "owner" was adamant that they didn't. If there was a zero star option, I would choose that. What a waste of my time and money. First time at Alquist at the Freitas location. Originally at the S. Center location and was steered there by Richard so I could view their large selection of Kimber firearms. Not knowing what to expect, I was quickly helped by John. Showed me a few compact style Kimbers and choose a SS frame Custom Kimber. Very nice and priced well. Picked up an additional mag as well. Picked up my gun today 7/8/14 and would like to make a suggestion to improve customer service. Please have a number system for customer servicing, kind of like Costco's Eyeglass Dept. Pull a number tag and when a spot opens up the clerk calls it. When I arrived today the store was busy and while standing there waiting some people just walked in and were immediately asked if they needed help. In the meantime, the people already there are just looking at each other wondering what the heck just happened. Please fix this and you'll keep "everyone" happy if that's important. read more

I showed up to the store and I was oblivious to the signs that say "no masks are allowed". I accidentally wore my mask out of courtesy. I then went up to a gentleman, I didn't catch his name, and asked him do you guys have any 9mm and he said "Nope" with a condescending tone. As I was talking to him I was wearing a mask and he then proceeded to lecture me that every time anybody has a mask on it makes him just wanna pull his gun because it makes him nervous and then started to touch something along his waist. Overall the experience was horrible and I would recommend anyone who is of color to stir clear of this place. Maybe if I was white I would have received better customer service. read more
