The guys here at on Target arms are a great group of individuals that are extremely knowledgeable, professional, and personable. I have been here a few times with my first interaction needing my on duty firearm to be repaired within a day so I can have it for my shift the following day. Not only did they get it in right away and fix it, but they even gave me a great price on it. I was extremely happy with their service and the way they treat you. If you know nothing about firearms or if you're a master gunsmith, they still treat you the same and explain everything to you (you can't really say that for most gun shops). Most recently I had a very bad experience with a trigger job at a local gunsmith, who absolutely obliterated my firing control unit and left pieces out. I told the story to them at on Target arms and he said to bring it by and he would take a look at it. I brought it by the next day, and no joke, I would say less than two minutes while I was browsing their inventory He had it taken apart and fixed it on the spot. With everybody trying to make a quick buck and rip you off these days it's very nice to have genuine real people that are good at what they do and show respect to every customer. So how do I start: well for one I walked in for the first time with my pops and we were greeted by the guys who run the place, very nice guys, we talked shop on handgun calibers, recommendations for IWB holsters, even takes with another guy there looking at a pistol for his dad, the main reason my dad and I came into On Target Arms was to pick up my wedding present which was a Glock 17 Gen 3 pistol which my dad had ordered online and had it sent to a reliable local FFL and one of my good friends had recommended OTA, so once is came in everything was clear, even the pricing on 9mm ammo was great, worth the time and money for the visit. A satisfied customer here no doubt, plus great minds think alike! Expect me to return hopefully sooner than later when it comes to new cleaning kits, assembly mats, and replacement parts for when that time comes p.s. rifle fins are a pain in the rear lol read more

So this will be the first of many for this store. First of all, I believe in supporting small business. So much that I went here and drove all the way from Fremont because the business responded to messages so quickly and was so positive I felt I should check it out. I stopped by for some ammo (bulk 9mm 1,000 rounds!). While we were there I just mentioned to Josh that my wife had just been to the range for the first time and that the M&P Shield proved to be challenging to rack. Josh confirmed that the slides are known to be harder and asked my wife if she wanted to give some other 9mm pistols a try so she could know how they feel. He took a lot of time and explained the difference between compact, sub compact, etc but more importantly just engaged her in what she felt was comfortable and felt best. He was NOT trying to sell her a firearm but rather just educating and selling her the idea of the right firearm. After 20 minutes, and her handling a Glock 26, Glock 19, CZ, M&P Sd, and Springfield XD, she fell head over heels for the XD. I would not have probably know all of these nearly as good as Josh, but this was a very good experience for my wife. I know it's a long review but it is worth the read. If you are going to buy a gun, you want to go to a place that treats everyone with this much care. We will be going back very soon to actually buy the XD... stay tuned. As a disciplined shooter I keep track of how I do on each range day with written notes. Now that I'm all done shooting for 2018 I totaled it all up. The results explain exactly why Andrew at On Target Arms is the man I go to when in need of a gunsmith. My best 3 range days of 2018 were with two guns that Andrew at On Target Arms had worked on. Having placed my initial order with Andy over the phone, and then coming in to the store to have the light/laser combo, grip and switches mounted on my shotgun, all I can say is service at On Target Arms is excellent! Brought my pistol in for a trigger install, had a miscommunication resulting in perceived lack of respect or tactfulness, which resulted in the store gunsmith also installing a faulty front sight as a means of teaching me a lesson. This is a very dangerous thing to do and did compromise the performance of my firearm. When I returned, they were afraid of me. I will avoid any further action. read more

I first want to say that I am PRO 2nd amendment and I have been for over 7 years now, I am not one of these COVID customers just now buying a gun. With that said I don't understand that just because ammo is low that it gives the right to an establishment to hoard ammo and sell it at double/triple the price. I arrived at this store excited because I seen on social media they had ammo in stock and unfortunately social media guidelines you cannot post prices (I wish they did), I waited in line about 20-30mins to go in, just to be SHOCKED at the prices this establishment sells the ammo (ALL CALIBERS). I understand we are suppose to support OUR mom and pop shops but how are we supposed to support them when they are gouging "US" the people to purchase the items we need to protect our families. I will never return to this store and I highly recommend you don't visit them either because you will be wasting your time. The staff was nice and most of them seemed pretty informed about guns. However, there is zero sense of urgency in customer service and no clue about mandated or internal processes so plan for an hour on average no matter why you are visiting. The systems are not standardized so every employee seems to do everything differently and they kind of quibble about it in front of customers and of course there is the typical condescension gun sellers have with anyone they consider less experienced than themselves. Prices seemed fair. If you have a lot of time on your hands go for it but for anyone that isn't retired and is used to any degree of expediency in service I'd skip this place. read more

I has an issue with my take down pin on my rifle. I spoke with Mark on the phone and he was very helpful and said to bring it in. When I arrived I spoke with Andrew and he was very helpful. He fixed the problem and showed me what I was doing wrong. Not once did they make me feel dumb although it was a pretty simple issue. Not only did Andrew fix my rifle he didn't even charge me. Extremely helpful group! I had my two year old and a three month old with me while making my purchase. Ended up needing some additional paperwork (my fault) so I had to run home. Had a few personal issues while gone causing me to be gone longer then expected but they had no issue with it at all. Got back to the paperwork being ready and smiling faces which was great being I wasn't having a good day. Katie and Andrew were very polite to both myself as well as my kids. Very helpful and polite professional service I've only been in there a few times and they know me on a first name basis well I guess a little more than a few times but I feel that they provide the friendliest and professional service in Stanislaus county they are a small store but they have huge intentions on helping out their customers and making first time gun owners feel more at ease about their purchase I'm not putting down any other gun stores in Modesto but I feel that they are the best and I am satisfied with all my purchases from them if they are not with another customer at the moment talk to Jake Shockley or Josh Cargill or Levi Bradley there's a couple more but I don't have the greatest memory when it comes to names but they will gladly help you out especially if you are a first-time shooter I am not a first-time shooter on the other hand but I recently picked up a budget revolver in 22 caliber called the rough Rider by heritage arms and to me the price was great only $149 and build just as solid as a Ruger single six you can also shoot 22 mag rounds through it when you get your 22 mag cylinder in the mail for only 30 extra dollars I also got myself a nice k e arms AR-15 all California compliant without that ridiculous fin they set up everything for me and they got my paperwork done in no time no disrespect to called to arms or any other store for that matter but if you talk to any employees at on Target I do believe you will have all your questions answered in a timely manner without feeling stressed or nervous for a first time buyer like I said I am not but my friend I brought with me was and he purchased something new to him I was surprised that his experience changed his whole perspective on owning firearms he only had one little 22 handgun and now he owns multiple Glocks and is working on getting a nice carbine for a decent price but if you want to start your son or wife out with a fun little plinker I am enjoying my rough Rider very much with the ammo cost right now it is definitely one of my favorite purchases so if you want something affordable reliable good service I recommend hitting them up if you all don't hurry up and support your local gun stores we may all be in for it when it comes down to all these ridiculous firearm restrictions support your local gun shop not your corporate giant it helps all of us good law abiding citizens keep our rights and not to mention it is always a blast buying a new firearm pun intended hope you all get yourself a few nice setups before it's too late sincerely Tanner Norton read more

Horrible customer service, wanted to place an order was told it would be about 2 weeks by the owner himself!! I said ok let's do it, he then tells me that it's out of stock and he can't find it... wait a minute first you say you can get it then you look and you can't?? Why don't you try looking first before telling the customer you can get it!! I asked his name and he said "Levi" if that is even his true name, so I told him I just wanted to look around and he wouldn't leave me alone, kept trying to push guns on me to buy, hovered over me like some used car salesmen and had a cocky attitude, very unhappy with this shop.. not to mention NO INVENTORY and everything is "we can order it".
