This is a great spot if you need to practice shooting. The staff here are nice and professional. They have a decent amount of guns to rent if you don't ow your own or if you're up to make a purchase they have a decent amount as well. The have about 6 shooting lanes and potential can be super busy upon arrival so be prepared guess it just depends on the day you are going. read more

This is only for the gun range. I have no experience with the retail store. I have bèen to a lot of ranges over the years. This indoor range has less lanes than some other places but has never been to crowded to get a spot. I really like the target controls with with a digital readout as to how far out the target is located instead of trying to line it up with a marks on the floor. Staff is always nice. Range fee is $20 per hour. They have quite a few guns for rent for $10 to try before you buy as well as eye and ear protection. Nice place. read more

I'd probably give this gun range about 3 stars. It's okay for a quick visit, but it's definitely smaller than expected with only about 4-5 lanes available. From my understanding, you can only shoot smaller guns there, which may be limiting depending on what you're looking for. Another downside was there really wasn't anywhere to place personal bags or belongings besides the floor, which wasn't very convenient. Overall it wasn't terrible, but I was expecting a little more space and better setup. read more

When I first got into guns after turning 18, I was a big fan of the store, as I received great service and was helped through my purchases, buying two guns for about $1700 total, on top of $400-500 of ammunition. Not a big spender by any means, but I was happy enough to purchase here. After living in Nevada and other parts of California, I have gotten to experience many other shops and was excited to check back here once I moved back. All five times I've been to the shop, I've felt that I was treated as an imposition, treated rudely on some occasions (inquired about a $250 used shotgun that looked neat for the salesman to treat me like I couldn't afford anything more than that), and receiving subpar service for a $60 "deep clean" with residue still present on some of the easiest to clean spots of the gun, making me wonder if it was even taken apart and cleaned with any care. The rule of thumb here for pricing tends to be add $50-$100 to whatever you can find the same gun for at most other stores. If you're going to pay over MSRP, I suggest going to a store that will treat you like you're not a hassle. I've only kept coming here because of their used inventory, but you can find a bigger and cheaper used inventory with much more pleasant staff at RIVER CITY GUN EXCHANGE. This store does not provide a good representation of the 2A community for new or prospective gun owners. read more

Giving them two stars on account of having a decent inventory at least that is there. However, this store routinely and consistently does not follow the California code and law for identification requirements when purchasing a firearm. They routinely turn customers away because they concoct and create make believe rules. They have told military personnel and military veterans that we still have to take the firearm, safety and safe handling demo, despite the fact that the California law clearly says we are exempt from it. They have told people that they cannot purchase a firearm with their passport when they do not have real ID, even though that is clearly what the law says. They need to create new store rules most importantly what they need to do is simply adhere to the California laws that are already on the books and stop lying to customers. Unless or until they stop lying to customers and creating nonsensical rules for firearms purchases, I would not recommend anyone purchase any firearms from these guys. read more

Barnwood has a decent section of new firearms in stock and a small selection of used guns for sale. They also have a good selection of gear and accessories. There is a small selection of gun safes in stock. They also offer deliver and install of gun safes. Assistance is not typically a problem in my experience. However, my visits have been during the week days. Barnwood is one of the few local gun shops that also have a gun range. They have a small gun range with about 7 or 8 bays. Rifles chamber in pistol calibers are okay to shoot. They do not allow tracer, armor piercing, steel core or frangible rounds. Range fees as of Jan 2020: $20 per person per hour. Minors under 18 are $10. You can rent firearms for $10-$15. You can purchase targets at the range. They also rent eye/ear protection for $4. They also offer different membership packages. I included a photo of that pricing. My only complaints about this shop is as follows: Gun transfer fees, my gun safe delivery & price matching local competitors. Their gun transfer fees are the highest in the area at $150 before DROS fees. You're looking at about $190 total. If you want to transfer two guns, you need to make an appointment and they do not do transfers on Saturdays. As for my gun safe, I ordered direct through the manufacture. The manufacture delivered to Barnwood for free and Barnwood was supposed to contact me. Unbeknownst to me, my safe had been delivered and sitting at Barnwood for amonths. They never contacted me to let me know it had been delivered. Barnwood and Sportsman's warehouse both had the same make/model rifle in stock that I wanted to purchase. Sportsman's was $150 cheaper. Barnwood would not price march the rifle. If you can look past some of my complaints above, you will most likely have a good experience here. If you are looking for the best price, you made need to look elsewhere. read more

I have been doing business with these guys for years. They've always been pretty good pretty fair it easy to deal with. I recently went in found a used hand gun that I really wanted tried to purchase it. They refused to sell it to me because I have not yet gotten my real ID. I go into a different gun shop. They tell me I don't need a real ID. They also explained that it requires a little more paperwork to buy it without a real ID. The guys at Barnwood didn't explain anything they just flat out said no I think I've been in their place for the last time. They won't get any more of my business there's plenty of good gun shops around. read more

Came here for the first time to purchase a handgun and everyone was so helpful. Each employee was nice and made sure you were taken care of each step of the way. You were able to see any gun you were interested in and the wait time was low. The employees work as a team and you will almost be in contact with every one of them in some way during your visit. They won't force a certain product on you and will answer all questions you have. Note: When I went last Saturday, their indoor range was closed so if anyone is interested in the range not sure how long it'll be closed for but can't wait for it to reopen. Came in with my family to buy bullets and practice shooting our new gun. Everything was great until it wasn't. My sister went with the hostage target and the employee who has my ID in hand who clearly sees I'm middle eastern goes "we like to call this the hamas target" and I politely asked "what do you mean by that" and he goes "just a little dark humor" and I said "since when is genocide funny" and he didn't know what to say. I think his comment was disgusting and unnecessary. He ruined our experience. read more

Love going here! Very cool gun shop/shooting range. The staff is helpful and friendly. It is located in Ripon's historic downtown. It definitely has a very old vibe/vintage feel....I love it! 2 STARS FOR SELECTION.. -3 STARS FOR ATTITUDE, POORLY UPDATED WEBSITE, HIGH PRICES, LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. I've been to the store a handful of times since the early 2010's, and the selection has been good, but the store staff has consistently had that "old fud" gun store attitude. They come off as condescending and arrogant until you say something that shows you know more than the staff and then they get overly nice. It's a shame because I really want to like this place and support a small local business but the staff is borderline unbearable. They aren't welcoming, helpful of approachable. If anything they have deterred me from business about half the times I've gone in there due to their conduct/attitudes. Today was my last time going there. I am in the market for a new handgun: a Sig P229 in 9mm.. Barnwood's website lists that they have a Sig P229 available for range rental. I have extensive time on the Sig P226 (the full size version) but wanted to make sure the 229 fit my hands. I intended to go and spend an hour with their rental, but after driving down there (and saying hi to the rude staff who just stared at me while I walked in - they didn't respond back) I go into their rental area and there is no Sig P229. I ask the girl behind the counter.. she says there is no Sig P229. I explain that their website lists it available for rent and she stares blankly and doesn't respond. I ask if there are any other firearm for rent that aren't in the case, or if she knows how often their website is updated.. she just says "no.. sorry". No attempt to explain or get any sort of business whatsoever. I'm over this place. And I'm telling my whole department not to come here either. I'd rather drive two hours to LC Action in San Jose simply because they have customer service. read more

I am a no fuss type of gal. When shopping, I know what I want, pay for it and leave. When going to the range, I have my magazines loaded, have my eyes and ears ready, and even bring my own target. Today upon entering, there was another customer that walked in AFTER me. And snuck in and got the last available lane. Why would anyone piss off another customer at the gun range? Here's the part filled with irony: I got my lane 10 minutes later. Placed my pistols on the platform, lined up my 10 magazines accordingly, hung up my target and was out of there in 21 minutes. The rude 'cutter' was missing his target and apparently having problems with his pistol. Once I walked out of the range to check out, the guy behind the counter was impressed with my efficiency. These guys are always friendly, polite and helpful when I have a question. If I ever see that a$$hole again, he will get an earful of my colorful mouth. read more

I have been in this store several times, unlike some gun stores these guys are attentive and seem to actually care about the customer. Every time I have been in there even if it's busy I have been acknowledged by the staff and helped when my turn came. Although I have not used the gun range because I prefer Blm land I know they have multiple hand guns to rent, an important step for a first time buyer or new shooter. Husband's tend to think what they like best is best for the wives but realistically this isn't often the case so it's best to let her shoot several different firearms before buying one. They tend to have ammunition in stock with the exception of stuff nobody has at the time. There is also a selection of used guns for sale and often at fair prices. I'd take this place over the big box anti gun places any day. Parking is occasionally an issue but places open up every ten minutes so if you circle once or twice you'll be ok. read more

[X] 36. shoot a gun Thanks Barnwood Arms for helping me check this off my lengthy to-do list! I had a blast learning how to shoot a gun. There was a little bit of a line and a wait upon entering the store, however, the nice worker helped my friend and I pick our weapons of choice. We went with two 9mm guns, as the worker said it would have the least recoil. He held the guns and walked us over to the shooting range area. Holding the door open for us, as any perfect gentleman would (escorting a woman to the shooting range...). There, he taught us how to load the gun, how to enable the safety, how to hold it, and how to shoot it. The gun my friend chose kept on getting stuck. She'd shoot and the shell would block any further firing. The gun I chose was just right. A little heavier, but it didn't stall at all. The first couple times shooting, I would squeal a little (hey, a gun is a lot of power for a little girl like me!). After the first 2 or 3 shots, I started enjoying myself and shooting like crazy. After we finished, our 50-pack of bullets, we went outside to pay. The grand total for 2 people, 2 guns, 1 range, 50 bullets, and ear/eye protection was $64. For about $30 a person, I'd say that's not bad at all. Of course, I have nothing to compare to. But $30 for a day of fun? I'd say that's a success! read more

On August 31, I dropped by to look for snap rounds (needed 9 mm for training) after a failed attempt to find some at Bass Pro. As I entered the build, the team of associates greeted me, gave me a few seconds to look and then asked if I needed help when I appeared to be lost. The lady directed me to the area they kept the snap rounds. Saw two different brands and asked the different; no price difference so I decided on the more popular sold brand. Then I looked around to see what else I may need. Found them! Surefire ear plugs, can't have enough ear plugs, especially since I lost them after a range. Damn! This tripped to Barnwood was better than I would have thought. 5 star - they had what I wanted and more - super friendly and super helpful - no damn lines - good pricing I would highly recommend coming here vice KW Defense in Stockton (poor service) or Elite Armory Plus in Tracy (limited merchandise). read more

I bought a rifle from guns dot com, who said they'd take care of everything and contact the store receiving the shipment - I had it sent here. I went in later on the day they received my rifle. They had no idea about the sale. I had to fill out a form (ok fine, not a problem), and they charged me ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS, NOT including DROS. They said they'll contact me when it's "ready" - they have to do inventory or paperwork or something. I called the next day - still not "ready," with no better explanation. Today was the fourth day they've had my rifle, and still no contact. Their FFL fee is outrageous, and their delay in getting me my rifle shows even more they don't value their customers. Do yourself a favor and check gunbroker dot com to see local FFL licensees who will do the same transfer for as little as $75 INCLUDING DROS - half of what Barnwood charges. read more

This shop is great. People are friendly and professional. As far an indoor ranges go, I believe this is the best in the area. I liked the shop enough to become a member and I don't regret it. Even the customers I meet are very friendly on the range. Prices are fair and they seem to have a consistent stock of popular ammo. Where is the service? I went to Barnwood Arms today (Saturday Feb 29) to just pick up some ammo or order some if they were out. It was around 230PM, only four other customers in the store. Just two sales guys working the counter. Waited 20 mins. Didn't get a "hello" or "hey we will get with you in a few mins" Left with my son very disappointed. Will not be going back there anytime soon. And I am a local. Wonder how they treat customers from out of the area? I can't give them any kind of a positive recommendation. This gun shop is staffed with knowledgeable firearms experts happy to walk first time gun owners gently through this complex process. And AND AnD they have some items actually in stock. We're on the wait list for other items and know we will get that call when our items arrive. Consignment? We decided the buy offer for our firearm was terrific and didn't go Consignment after all. We'd been informed of all the requirements to legally sell and the transfer of ownership was relatively easy and absolutely legal. This was the only shop that offered the service level, supplies, and stock within a 3 hour drive radius of our home. A loooong drive, but in these complex times, WORTH IT. read more

But if theres not that many ppl they will let u keep shooting without paying additional fees wich is a plus side! Cant shoot fast just like any other indoor range.
