They were very kind and greeted us warmly when we walked in. They asked if we needed help and pointed us in the right direction. The store is huge! We headed to their fishing section. They had lures and things for sale. The clearance ones were buy 5 get 5 for free! We ended up just "window shopping" today. read more

I came with my mom in looking for some work essentials and was ASTONISHED at their Stanley Cup wall! Not just that particular brand but Yeti, and other great brand cups as well! Usually they are hard to come by in Target but I couldn't believe the selection! Given how short I am the employees were extremely helpful getting my things down from this giant wall they were all extremely nice!!! They had very nice leggings work out gear and some sparkly crocs!!! I will say it was a bit on the pricey side clothes wise however I found my work bag (Bogg Bag) a perfect medical bag with multiple sizes for WAY less money than I expected so the going with the medium was wonderful with the value! I did also get some stick on's off Amazon for my girly self but it is PERFECT for work I highly recommend Dicks they have so much more than just sporting good! Highly impressed and will absolutely return for another look at that Stanley wall! read more

DICK'S Sporting Goods - The Medium Sized Bogg Bag from Dick's! I decorated it! - Sports Wear Near Me - Modesto, California

Dicks is pretty much the only all around sporting goods store in our area. They pretty much have everything you would need for just about any sport. However, they do not sell firearms and ammunition anymore which is extremely disappointing. When I visit, I have been greeted by a cashier. Finding help sometimes is another story. You may have to seek someone out. I would shop around online to compare pricing as a lot of times they are on the higher side. However, sometimes you cant beat seeing/trying something out before your purchase it. If you look hard enough, they usually have sale racks for some name brands. I have also purchased a basketball hoop through their website. When I received an email indicating it was ready for pick up, the store pick up process was really easy. When I arrived, I indicated that in the link they sent me. After about five minutes, an associate brought the hoop out and assisted me in loading it into the truck. In all, I've had good experiences here. It really just comes down to being okay with not getting the best price sometimes. read more

Ordered this Carhartt hat online for my husband and went to pick it up (mind you I live 45mins away). Got home and guess what was still attached to it? Yes the damn sensor! I guess they didn't even bother to check it before they bagged it. Called them and was told to bring it back, like gas ain't expensive for me to drive back for their mistake. No compensation or anything. Wont be shopping there anymore. read more

Finally was able to get around this review. on 2/4/26 3:30 pm customer service was terrible specifically in the shoe department

Nathan was Kind helpful and patient, informative. Unfortunately he could not help us but gave us recommendations for looking online and shipping to the store. Only a 4 because of the limited selection. read more

Service was good on the phone, patient and considerate. Selection is massive as holy heck. Value wise, I mean come on, there's hecka sports and activities, give them their credit dang it. I am thoroughly pleased with the shopping experience. Value is outstanding. read more

I hardly come in here but was impressed with the large selection and how clean it was. The service was okay, they could've used 1-2 more people around the store for how busy it was. The selection of coolers, mugs, glasses, athletic clothing is pretty great! Don't come in here expecting many deals tho ! read more

Hear me out when I say if you're looking for specific comfort in shoes and don't know where to start or what brand is best for your needs, look for Jessie I repeat look for JESSIE. His knowledge and expertise will make your shoe shopping experience finding exactly what you need and more. Be warned tho you might be coming out with more than one pair. This is my second time being assisted by him and both times I've been confident and satisfied with my purchase. I truly appreciate him and his knowledge. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR GOLF CLUBS HERE!! I took my irons here to get some shafts extended and some shortened. I was told it would be about 3-4 days which I was okay with. I even supplied my own grips to make things easier. On the 4th day I called and asked for an update on the progress. I was told they would possibly be done that day and if not, the next day forsure. I then followed up later that day and asked for another update only to find out they haven't even started on them yet and there was now 2 services in front of me. They proceeded to tell me they couldn't give me a time frame as they don't know how long it could be. I went to pick them up and get a refund when I spoke with the manager about the situation (who was the one who gave me the 3-4 day time frame) I was just given excuses and so I finally left. Needless to say I will never be returning to this dicks location and will strongly advise against anybody I know bringing their clubs here or anything golf related. Absolutely unprofessional and ridiculous service. Nobody knows what they are doing back there and they have no type of Efficiency whatsoever. read more

Going In shopping for some Good deals but lack of women's gear. The sales didn't make sense, as they were posted but not active at the register. Which was a HUGE wast of our time shopping there. It's not very specific in what's on sale and why it's posted on hats etc that aren't on sale. read more

Stacy came over and helped us find our Yeti. Jessie unlocked the product and checked that all the insides where there. Heather checked us out and updated our information. One of my best customer service experiences in a long time. I came in to buy shoes and was helped by everyone in the shoe department. Everyone was so kind and patient with me. Thank you for a great shopping experience! read more

5 STARS for Jazmyn! Very wonderful and helpful customer service at the register. She was very patience and understanding. Even though her lunch break was coming up, she didn't made us feel rush. Thank you Jazmyn. The store itself, clean, the staff were helpful locating what you need, IF YOU CAN FIND THEM! Prices was comparable to other sporting store. A lot of selection though. Football season is here for my son, so we will be back. read more

Great place to come in if you need jackets for this cold/wet weather we're currently having. My husband needed a windbreaker for work and he was determined to find a Nike windbreaker. After walking around in a circle after 3x he couldn't find anything. I looked through the Columbia/Patagonia area and BOOM! Found the best windbreaker for only $39.00, for a Columbia brand- not bad in my bargain shopper book! At the registers we were next up to be called, the one guy working the one register was trying to help someone return something, but it was taking forever with the many questions. A gal that was restocking the shelves nearby saw the impatient look on our faces, so she opened up a register to assist checking us out. This is customer service, nice and aware. Again, if you're looking for anything sports-clothing, equipment, and more - come to Dick's! read more

My dad and I went here for shoes, and the guy in the shoe dept was great!! We were there in the morning of Monday the 3rd. Great selection of shoes and prices. We bought Merrel and Keenes. the young woman at the register who checked us out was also very nice, and joked with us too. An all around great experience!! Lots of nice workout clothing and outdoor equipment. I love their new location at the mall. read more

Poor girl was working the huge shoe dept. alone. Waiting on +/- 6 customers, running for shoes, etc... Nowhere to measure your feet. You have to select a shoe off the floor and scan it at a kiosk, giving your name & what color shirt you are wearing and someone is suppose to bring you the shoes but they don't You have to track them down. This is a disgusting view of the kiosk future. Big companies eliminating jobs for corporate profit. Oh everything is horribly overpriced!! read more

Everybody knows dicks is pretty expensive, but I was super impressed by the level of customer service i received at this store. Long story short there was a mix up with pricing on these sandals my dad and I were attempting to purchase. In the end we were wrong, but the sales associate and manager honored the price we originally thought we were buying. Nobody was salty and no attitude was given. At no point did they make me feel as though we were trying to pull a fast one. I just appreciate that level of customer service. read more

Bought a brand new bike rack and opened to find both small-hardware bags torn and rack half assembled. I specifically asked if it had been opened and returned because the side was taped up. The associate assured me it was new and that they didn't accept returns. My fault for letting this happen. Just take it upon yourself to know answers to any questions you might have or buy new online. The manager offered me a 20% discount but I can't be sure nothing was damaged with the partial assembly. The minor scuffs were a bummer too. I live an hour 1/2 away from this Modesto location. If I go back I'm returning it. Lost 3 hours of driving + gas for this nonsense. read more

Racist store! Do not come here if you are a person of color. I was talked to like a second class citizen and associate was rude and refused to allow me to use my rewards and survey coupon. Literally WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Every single time. The employees act so inconvenienced by all customer presents / interaction at all. Literally so disrespectful and ridiculous for the prices of everything. We enter the store- they say nothing besides "store closes in 15.." Ok. So we go grab the shoes we needed and decided to get glasses. We get to the golf shoes, all around $100 off the gate. Ok no problem. HOWEVER none of their shoes are even in the right spot so we had to search for a pair totally not even what we were looking for. Maybe if there were anybody available to help us, we could have found what we were looking for. None of the NIKE shoes were under their display. It was a mess. We go to the counter and get completely ignored by all the employees. We asked for help and the kid looked relatively new. He asked for the key to the glasses, literally he did NOT say more than 5 words to us AT ALL. He asks for help from his co-worker and the guy hands him the set of keys, the kid had no idea what key worked.... fumbles through all of them. Asks for help AGAIN (like if y'all are trying to leave that bad then help this kid so we can get out of here...... common sense, right?!) so the manager comes to help, again doesn't even acknowledge the CUSTOMERS at all. He finally figures out the key . He hands the glasses to the cashier. Literally doesn't say one more word to us. We go to the cashier he doesn't even say anything just rings up our items acting Customer service goes a LONG way. We were in there for less than 15 and spent enough to pay one of their paychecks, maybe they can show the shoppers like ANY appreciation for shopping in their overpriced store. Never again will they get our business. read more

Ron in the shoe department was Awesome today!! He was very knowledgeable in the products that your company sells. Most of the time people we can find someone to help us find a shoe but not someone who really knows the products and how one shoe is better for certain things like CrossFit, running etc. Ron was all about customer service. Hopefully this review will get him some recognition. read more

Memorial Day weekend, we were in Ripon for a baseball tournament for kids 13U. We bought my nephew a $340 catchers mitt. After catching 3 games, the laces and popped out and mutt was unusable. Last weekend, we were back in Modesto for another tournament. We spoke with both the asst manager and manager. Not only did they refuse to do anything to assist us, they were unprofessional, they yelled at us through voice mail. We will never go back and the teams in our area will follow our lead. A $340 glove was unusable after 3 games. They did nothing but make excuses and talk down to us. read more

While the staff were nice they didn't seem to being implementing Covid guidelines. Several customers were walking around without masks and when staff become aware they failed to respond. When I asked about it they just acknowledged it happens and laughed. Seemed like there isn't really a system in place to respond to these kinds of situations. Also, there is a lack of social distancing in the front checkout area. The irony is that the announcement kept repeating the important of social distancing and Covid guidelines. read more

Despite what recent reviews have said, my experience here went decently well. I had been looking through several stores to find some decent hiking boots that I could also wear casually while travelling. The lady that worked the back area (where all the shoes were) was very helpful! She was constantly walking around making sure everyone was helped. At that, she came back to check on me a handful of times! The other section was a different story... I was browsing through the bicycle and fitness equipment area, and there was no employee that bothered to help. It's a pity, too, because there's quite a few things that I was interested in buying. Since I had questions about their products that went unanswered, I decided to walk away and check out a different store for another day. Although I was just browsing today, I will definitely come back to get the hiking boots! read more

Wont support dicks ever again. Went to use $20 of $100 or more and they said it didnt work on my golf club. Ridiculous

Unbelievable! I bought a brand new putter. Went home and found out it was broke. Came back to get a refund! The manager "Betty" and the golf assistant "Miguel" both refused to give me my money back! I couldn't even get store credit. They informed me to deal with it through cooperate! I insisted on getting my money back. They threatened to call the police! So I drove down to the Turlock Dicks location. They returned the item within minutes! Betty even said it was up to her "discretion" to return the putter or not! This manager needs to be fired!! So many complaints about this manager "Betty". I will notify corporation. I will never, ever buy from this store again! I've spent thousands of dollars here; Not anymore! read more

Pretty sad excuse for customer service. My husband works for the company at a different location and it's night and day between the staff and store mentality. Being in retail myself was kind of taken aback by the sheer lack of service they gave at this store. I don't understand why you have a line if 10 customers deep you have one register open and she has not once out of niceness in her bones ( think she was the apparel lead). Amazing how bad the customer service is here. Usually large chains like this spend lots of money training and supporting their employees so they are capable of offering good capable service. Not the case at this location. As I left I was helped by a pleasant cashier so I can't say the entire employee base is lacking. If the employee has short hair you are probably not going to have a good experience trying to spend your money here. If you have a choice I would not come to this location unless you: 1. You know exactly what you want 2. Set your customer service expectations to the very lowest rung... read more
