He was patient and thorough, and got the return handled for me. Another young lady that was working this evening helped me with my initial purchase. Her name is Alison, and she helped me the first time that I came with a big purchase. And she also helped me check out a few items this evening, they have amazing clearance items that you gotta check out! I want to give her a shout out out because she has great customer service, beautiful smile and I know that a lot of times in the retail industry customers are quick to complain and share their frustrations online to management to anyone and everyone, but I think it's important that we also take the time to leave positive uplifting reviews whenever we get great service anywhere! It terms on hiking shoe selection they do have a decent amount of selection but most of the shoes are from the brand Denali which is exclusively sold at Big 5. Denali's are great if your looking for a budget option ~$30. They also had some Eddie Bauer & Hi Tec which are a good mid price ($40-$50). They were limited on the higher end options with only two pairs of Columbia ($70-$90). We ended up going with the the Colombia and my wife is thrilled because it's the most comfortable shoe. We both picked up some ecosox hiking socks and they are by far the most comfortable socks we've gotten! Which were recommended by the excellent staff. I'll admit that personally I've not been a big fan of Big 5 in the past because other stores have been cluttered, disorganized and picked over. But this store has changed my opinion! It seems to be excellently managed and I definitely will be looking here first the next time I need any sport equipment!

The front sections carries latest designer shoes from platforms to running shoes. The side perimeters display limited handbags, backpacks and socks. I tend to shop here for my running shoes. The staff are always helpful. I stopped by today, as every New Year and Spring Cleaning, to donate shoes. The Soles4Souls program makes every shoe donated count! It's win-win for all.

He was a Hispanic/Latino employee wearing a dark shirt. He seemed bothered and told me only the work shoes were waterproof. That turned out not to be true because I later found shoes in the style I wanted that clearly said "100% waterproof" on the label. I also asked another employee, a younger muscular guy, for help with running shoes and got the same bothered attitude. He even walked away while I was still talking. I came in feeling positive and ready to shop, but left frustrated by the lack of help and poor customer service. The only good thing I can say is that the store does have a huge selection and many different styles. I originally expected to only buy work shoes, but ended up finding running shoes too. Also, they advertise 50% off the second pair, but I was charged full price for both pairs. Maybe there was fine print, but it was not clearly explained and felt misleading. Overall, great selection, but the customer service really needs improvement.
