Looking for hardware, not software, to fix my slow draining bathroom sink. The last timeI was here, same issue with the right fix. I asked and he told me exactly where in the store I would find it, downstairs to the left all the way in the back bottom shelf. Reasonable prices. What's not to like? read more

After thanks to road construction on NYE 2025, I was w/o water until NYD 2026, ironically, When I went to shower on 1/2/26 the hose to my handheld shower head plastic covering had cracked making hand held useless. Went to Dick's on my lunch hour, associate helped me find just a hose, vs. having to buy whole new set, it worked, and I am very happy with my experience, superior to having done this online, since I am not a plumber by trade. read more

Good hardware store with everything you need, at reasonable prices. The store owners are knowledgeable enough, and the store is packed with stuff from all areas of home fixings read more

I just returned from Dick's with a quart of plain, white paint that cost me $27.00 + tax. When I questioned the price at the cash, the owner told me there was NO other option and refused me a refund. Besides the ridiculous prices, the service was appalling. Do yourself a favor a take the extra 5 minutes to Tribeca to Ace Hardware where the offer all their choices before hand, the prices are better and the service is given with a smile. read more

Dick's Cut-Rate Hardware - Hardware Stores Near Me - New York, New York

I went to Dick's looking for a particular screw which I was not able to find in either Home Depot or Lowe's. Went in there and was greeted by April who did a magnificent job finding the correct screw and the parts that came with it. I truly recommend this place if you want great personalized service with a smile !!! read more

Great hardware store that has been in the neighborhood for a very long time. Whether you need parts, tools, paint, cleaning supplies or anything else that a DIYer needs, they have it. If they do not have it, they will order it for you quickly. This is not your typical, corporate establishment where the employees are neither knowledgeable not caring...the owner is on-site everyday and takes care of the wonderful business that he has built. read more

They have the supplies I need, but this place has customer service in town. I think it's the owner. He could care less about the customer. He acts annoyed when I ask where something is--or completely ignores me because he's having a personal conversation. There's a store on Fulton Street a few blocks away. Those folks help customers. read more

Dependable, friendly, and a surprisingly huge inventory! Feels very homey and like a classic New York hardware store.

Had a key made licketysplit, April gave me a nice discount on another item I needed, and gave my dog a treat. Well-stocked neighborhood shop. read more

Stores like this make me reevaluate my life. You just get so used to walking into Home Depot and hunting for what you are looking for, waiting on line forever, over paying, and then being eyed suspiciously while leaving the store by security. Imagine instead walking through the front door of a hardware store and being pounced on by an earnest young man who asks what you are looking for and then takes you to where it is. This store is huge, encompassing two levels. The item I was looking for was on the lower level, and I was impressed to find a second young man waiting downstairs to help anyone coming from above, but of course I didn't need his help because the first clerk was right behind me. At Dick's, size matters, and Dick's Hardware is big in all the right ways! read more

They always have what I need and they are open on the weekends which is great considering the rest of the neighborhood shuts down on Sundays. I never had an issue getting help to find what I am looking for. Store is a bit on the disorganized side, but it is massive and as stated before, the people working there will help you out. read more

Really appreciate them open Sunday! They pack a lot in their store get most out of their space. read more

Dick's Cut-Rate Hardware - Made it home thanks for tge tape! - Hardware Stores Near Me - New York, New York

Dick's is pretty unprofessional. I'm starting my review with that because when I walked in, one of the employees (I'm guessing she's the wife of the owner) was busy stocking shelves and when I said "excuse me" she started muttering about having "no fucking help". Now, I have quite the mouth on me but I would not even say that within earshot of a paying customer. She made my keys pretty quick while her husband started to ring me up. They have a sign taped to the counter that says there is a $10 minimum for c/c purchases. My total was a little under $6.00. So I tossed in a pack of batteries to bring up my total so I could use my company card. So why am I giving this place 3 stars and not 1 or 2? They appeared to have a decent selection of hardware-related items and since the financial district isn't exactly known for hardware stores, this is helpful. They also have a cute dog (think bodega cat) that will follow you to the door, almost like he's going to walk you out. read more

This is a little mom and pop hardware store in the middle of FiDi. Just walking in the door reminds me of my childhood growing up in Brooklyn. It is densely packed with all sorts of hardware essentials. The owners are friendly and helpful. read more

While I'm sure this hardware store is named after its owner, it could very well be named after their customer service. I've been to this store 3x in the last 2 months and each time I returned I hoped that the bad customer experience I had last time was a fluke. Jokes on me - it wasn't. My family ran a small business for 50+ years, and I'm typically happy to support them, but I've learned my lesson here and will not return. The staff is unfriendly and rude, and the cashiers seem more interested in their TV than giving you service. You'd think in the age of e-commerce that these guys would figure out that good customer service goes a long way, but that does not seem to be the case. I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

I dig this store a lot. The selection is amazing for being nestled in the middle of FiDi, they stay open on weekends, and I get along with the staff just fine (despite all the reviews to the contrary). Do they sometimes seem aloof, or more interested in BS'ing with each other than proactively helping customers browse? Sure. But to me, it feels more like a family joint where the employees simply have that level of familiarity with each other due to sticking around for awhile, rather than churning thru clueless bright-eyed transplants like so many other NYC service industries do. And at the same time, if you ask for their opinion on completing a project or choosing between products, you'll get a gods-honest opinion from folks who know their way around local construction. They take my returns back w/o complaint. They take credit cards (with a minimum, natch). Twice, the owner has even let me walk out w/o paying because I didn't have enough cash on hand and he was about to close -- and yes, I always returned the next morning to settle up. What's to complain about? Hearing the word "fuck" echo from the basement every so often? Grow up. Only reason I can't give them 5 is the pricing. It's high, even for a neighborhood store in an expensive part of town. But I will continue to pay the premium to support a business that always has what I need, when I need it. read more

Okay, I grew up in Redneck Central; I'm more used to space, so the whole "urban hardware store" thing where the contents of what would have been a huge Ace Hardware or something back home are crammed into a room the size of my apartment has taken some getting used to, but it means I won't settle for a crap selection just because I'm in a city. Anyway. Surprisingly big selection; I came by to buy some deadbolts (after, ahem, SOMEONE left both of our building's front doors open & unlocked and someone tried to break in to my apartment at 3am... you stay classy, upstairs neighbor!) and was really impressed by the amount of stuff I found. It's not the best organized and it's a little pricey, but they definitely had a lot of options for pretty much everything you might need. But where this place gets me is the staff. They are exactly the kind of people I expect to find in a rural hillbilly hardware store: kinda butch, helpful but kinda frazzled, and extremely foul-mouthed and hilarious and take-no-prisoners. While I was waiting in line, the guy working the register was making a phone call to (I guess) a business owner who had sent his lackey in for some copies of a restricted key. The side of the conversation I overheard was something like "yeah, this one says 'do not copy' so I gotta get your permission before I can make 'em. Anything else? Oh yeah, pay your fuckin' bill!" in short: little store, huge personality. :P read more

Stay away. The owner is rude (a real dick, pun intended!), can't be bothered to even acknowledge you when you walk into the store, doesn't say a word even if you greet him and also seems to prefer that you do NOT ask him any questions. The blond woman working alongside him: Same poor attitude. If the only reason you'd visit this store is because they're close to where you live: Take your business to the NICE and HELPFUL guys running the hardware shop on Fulton Street (right around the corner), see http://www.yelp.com/biz/fulton-supply-and-hardware-new-york read more

All I can say is if you want a better experience with friendlier service and cheaper prices, go to the hardware store on Fulton St. The owner here is a complete dbag. The name of this hardware store really suits itself. If you like a store that doesn't stand behind its products, ignorant, and an exchange/refund policy that is a joke then this is your place. A little piece of advice to this owner.... I know most of your customers are young adults who you probably think live off mommy's and daddy's money, but that does not give you the OK to treat us like garbage. Even though this place is very close to my apt, I will go elsewhere. read more

Super fast, great prices, a lot of personality. I duplicated a key in under 3 minutes from entering to paying. He was so nice and cracked jokes with me the while time! Great prices too!! read more

Love this little store around the corner from me in Financial District. I am self-employed and have an office in the neighborhood. Whenever I need materials or tools to fix something I pop into the store and always find it. I got 4 keys made for $5 here; I consider it extremely reasonable given the neighborhood. There is definitely a friendly vibe at the store. Looks like a family-run business. read more

Love this hardware store. They have everything and will quickly find anything for you. Can make hard to copy keys.

April from the Hardware store was kind, quick and attentive to my needs. Will definitely be returning- thank you!

Prices can be a bit high, but it's pretty well stocked and the staff is quite helpful. I totally agree with the reviewer about the "little store big personality" thing. They seem more like a quirky family than co-workers - they kind of let it all hang out. Shopping here, you'll get the complete opposite experience of the big chain stores. I consider that a huge plus. read more

Great hardware store with a very helpful team. I sent my daughter in there to purchase a pair of pliers to try and repair her couch, she lives across the street. Staff there instead of trying to sell her that tool asked to sell the broken chair leg and fixed it for her on the spot, at no charge. Great customer experience. read more

What's the point of having opening hours when you close early. I attempted to go and get so items after work to do some repairs around the house. The opening hours were not accurate. When I returned the next day you are served by staff that grunt as opposed to talk. read more

I happened into Dick's Hardware one afternoon in the month of April, when following my intuition as I passed by after a business appointment. I had been looking for a small lady hammer, the pretty painted kind with several tiny screwdrivers in the handle. Price: $8.99. A real Bargain. The saleslady, named April, was so kind and helpful, she immediately searched her computer, and invited me behind the desk to look at the images and choose the product I desired. I chose, and she placed an order for a box of them. Said she would call me when it came in. I gave her my number. I happened to ask her if she knew of a good hair salon, as I was looking for a decent place to get my hair styled and trimmed. April proceeded to tell me of a place around the corner, and offered to walk me there herself and introduce me to the owner. Well, I got a great haircut, at a first time customer discount, and went back to show April my new haircut. When I picked up the lady hammer, I was pleased and grateful and thanked April and the other young salesman, who was also friendly and kind. Dick's Hardware is an excellent store and the staff are kind and helpful. read more

Excellent service!! They go the extra mile to help you. Great find. Good Merchandice.

Worst service ever at cashier! Please go somewhere else ,they seems don't want you buy stuff from them !

Ive loved downtown for almost 20 years and this is my go to hardware. Always friendly and helpful.

I came here looking for a very specific item which the owner (or employee) was able to find within seconds. I was a few cents short of the total and he let me make the purchase anyway. I appreciated him not giving me a hard time over that. Good location and they seem to have a wide variety of products for what seems like a small space from the outside. read more

I live locally in FiDi and April at Dicks was SO helpful. I just moved in and she went above and beyond to help me out with hardware for my bed. I lost an ikea screw and she was awesome about finding a solution that would work out. She even let me take some screws to if they fit first without charge. read more

Needed a couple items and decided to bring some business to a local business rather than Bed Bath and Beyond like I usually do. Went here for the first time today and the store has probably a million items and things can be very hard to locate. I greeted the woman and she barely mumbled a hello and when I asked her where the first thing I needed was she pointed to the left and told me I could find it there. When I asked her about the second item, she had zero idea what it was, so I'm just going to go on Amazon for the second item. I had major issues looking for the first item and I saw the gentleman in the last aisle and asked him where to find the item. He didn't say a word, went to the item and got one for me. Seemed like he didn't want to make eye contact, so I felt discouraged to ask him to get a second one for me (I needed two) since it was placed high up and I couldn't reach. I gave up on wanting a second one (and I'm being vague so to avoid any retaliation in case I run into these two folks again). When I went to pay, I tried to make small talk with the woman in attempts to give her a second chance at winning my business a second time (since I live across the street from them), however, she didn't want to speak to me and mumbled something very inaudible. I can't tell if they are angry about their day/life or Amazon. In summary, not very friendly, can't find anything and they don't like to build relationships with their literal neighbors (I even informed her I live across the street - no improvement in level of friendliness). read more

Certainly the worst hardware store I have been to, not friendly, not helpful, boss has no clue what he is doing.

Horrible customer service, the guy behind the counter who claimed he is the owner refused to give me a receipt because he never rang up the items at the cash register. Then he caught an attitude bcz I asked for a shopping bag to put what I purchased, I ended up getting money back and the guy insulted me. I'll make sure I'll call the consumer affair read more

the customer service is very decent. and i was able to find the $7 lightbulb that my apartment would have changed me for if i didn't come out of pocket. i visited other stores... before i found it here. five stars because the moment i entered the store, someone wanted to assist me. i love that. i'm a natural damsel. read more

Went into here looking for a specific item. I went around the store looking for it myself then got frustrated because I couldn't find it! Will be a frequent customer! read more

what a weird place, my boyfriend and i walked in to get some random things for some household projects (spray paint, compound, extension cord etc) probably one of the most unfriendly experiences Ive ever had. It was like the staff was doing us a HUGE favor by getting the spray paint out of the case, or ringing up our merchandise. We were the only customers in the store so its not like there was much else for them to do, when we checked out i sensed some tension and short words between the man and women working there so that could have contributed to the super awkward vibe. On the plus side, although the storefront is small, the store is pretty large, with a main level and downstairs. In short, they will probably have what you need, just be prepared to enter the twilight zone. read more
