Why I won't be back (message for mgmt):…read more I've been a customer for years, made a loyalty account last year, and have spent thousands of dollars on paint over those years. Went in today (8/10) to buy some paint for a small (& cheap) project. After I selected my color, I went to the rep (Eamon) and asked for the cheapest flat-sheen paint they had in a quart or gallon size. Eamon proceeds to pull Emerald in a quart size off the shelf and tell me this is the cheapest paint aside from their samples. I didn't bother to let him know that that *I* knew that Emerald is the most expensive line per oz. At ~$22 a quart, a good rep, knowing the circumstances of my project should've recommended a gallon of Captivate (or literally any other line) which is 4 bucks more for an *entire* gallon. And no, there wasn't a stock shortage -- I checked out what they had when I first walked in. At this point I asked if I could purchase two sample sizes instead, and after looking at his stock of 6 tells me he can only sell me one. I informed him that the last week I purchased 3 samples when there were also only 6 with no problem, and so he lies and tells me this is a store policy and shrugs. Either have the policy posted, or sell your stock. Considering I've purchased many multiples of samples from SW in the past, I think it's bs. I have also never had a store tell me they can't sell me the product they have in stock. Super weird and uncomfortable interaction overall. Feeling like I was being cheated out on price, and then fed a bullsh*t line about store policy so he could save face. First interaction with Eamon, I'm sure he's an okay guy, but needs a training on customer service. Won't be back and will bike over to a different paint store for this project and for others. There's so many paint brands nowadays! ----------------------------------------- If you want to still go...What I like about this store: - Of the reps I've encountered, they give you space to explore the color cards at your leisure and don't hover. Avoid Eamon though. - It's a few blocks from where I live and I believe one of the only paint stores on the west side (vs. F&B or BM on the east). - Good hours, open on time - Always have the line, sheen, and size container that I want - Cashiers always have the coupon codes ready to scan (if you forget) - They'll happily look up your past purchases in case you forget a paint color name (which I do all of the time)

Called ahead when I hadn't heard back and Felicia said she was with other customers and the order hadn't been started yet. As it was Sunday I needed to get it together ASAP in case i had to go elsewhere to get what I needed I went in person. Years of customer service has taught me that phone and internet fall behind live clients. Felicia was lovely and patient with my near freak out and got it all together with the changes I decided on. She also confirmed how much paint I would actually be needing. Though she was great I am concerned that the order wasn't put together the day before in case she *was* busy and couldn't get it together in time. *district mgr just called to make sure everything was fine.

The quality of the paint is incredibl-smooth, rich, and somehow both bold and subtle at the same time. Also, shoutout to their customer service team --so helpful, and genuinely kind. They made the whole process easy and even helped me tweak my order last minute without any stress. I know its pricey but Farrow & Ball is 100% worth it. Go for it.

This review is long overdue. I wanted to wait and see how the paint actually held up over time…read morebefore forming an opinion. First - The customer service is the absolute best! I called the store, I'd visited it in the past to check out their wallpaper (some of the patterns are absolutely gorgeous, worth going there just for ideas). The sales rep was very knowledgeable; she explained the differences between products and colors. After reviewing several test strips (I had collected in the past), I placed an order through the Flatiron store. They offered door to door delivery, which was so convenient. I repainted an entire home, three floors, multiple rooms. Since the home was over 200 years old with original details, I needed a paint color that would match the original sense of the home without looking too outdated. I must have gone through 300 different paint colors, I did Samplize, tested the paint on the actual walls, checked the LRVs, under different lighting (because a paint will look one way in direct sunlight but completely different under LED lighting). I think I drove myself a little crazy. I mean how many shades of white can there be??? Dozens! And they all look a little different. Money vs Aesthetics - While I really wanted to save money, the more time I spent with the Farrow and Ball colors, the more I fell in love with them. When I told the painter that I was using this brand he said "it's too hard to use." Skeptical, I asked around. It's not hard to use; he was an inexperienced painter. So I went with Farrow and Ball for the parlor level and smaller rooms and Benjamin Moore for the rest. After a year of heavy use, both paints have held up well. From an aesthetic perspective, the colors for Farrow and Ball are well worth the added expense IMO - particularly for an older home with unique design attributes (small corners, brass elements, original wood tones etc). While renovating one house, I also did a second one with a realtor for a planned sale/rental. I did not use Farrow and Ball due to cost considerations. The other house was modern and modern paint colors were fine. Bonus feature - The coverage from Farrow and Ball was where the brand really shines. During the renovation, a contractor wrote all over a small section of drywall- in black permanent ink. After scrubbing it for 30 minutes, I finally gave up. I allowed the wall to dry and then painted it with 2 coats of FB "all white" paint. No primer, lol, because I was simply exhausted by the whole process. It was a small section of wall but after I was done, someone entered the kitchen and said "nice paint job!" I wanted to say, the credit doesn't belong to me, it belongs to the paint -- the paint is simply magical !

The issue started when I asked, "Do you speak English?" during the initial call (as there seemed to be a communication barrier). When I arrived to collect the quote, the employee (Danny, who appeared to be a manager) was still upset about it. It was obvious from his expression and tone--he even commented, "So that was you on the phone." I immediately apologized, but he couldn't let it go and focused entirely on that instead of helping with the quote or providing good service. He asked someone else to print it out rather than handle it himself. This level of unprofessionalism from someone in a management role is unacceptable, especially in a retail environment where customers are simply trying to buy paint and supplies. The focus should be on the customer and the store, not holding a grudge over a single question.
